You bought a 2004-07 Taurus or a 2004-05 Mercury Sable — great car, but its console makes it impossible to upgrade the factory radio. Metra's kit allows you to install an aftermarket single- or double-DIN receiver in your dash, while maintaining all heating, ventilation, and air conditioning controls, even the heated seats and compass if your model has them.

You bought a 2004-07 Taurus or a 2004-05 Mercury Sable — great car, but its console makes it impossible to upgrade the factory radio. Metra's kit allows you to install an aftermarket single- or double-DIN receiver in your dash, while maintaining all heating, ventilation, and air conditioning controls, even the heated seats and compass if your model has them.

The kit features backlit soft-touch buttons that let you access all climate controls found in the Taurus or Sable, and it's a perfect match for the colour, texture, and contours of your dash. You'll also get an LCD display just like the one in your vehicle. The package also includes all harnesses and antenna adapters needed for the installation. Warranty: 1 year.

Features

2004-2007 Ford Taurus Installation Kit: The Metra Turbo 2 Installation Kit (99-5719C) is designed specifically for the 2004-2007 Ford Taurus (with auto climate controls). It allows installation of both double DIN and single DIN aftermarket head units. A storage pocket is included for DIN installs. The installation kit is painted a scratch resistant matte black finish. The 99-5719C installation kit also retains all factory climate control functions with soft touch buttons and LCD display. An airbag indicator light is also featured. All harnesses and antenna adapters are included.

Wiring Harness: This wiring harness prevents you from having to cut your vehicle's factory radio plug when replacing your factory radio with an aftermarket head unit. Simply solder or crimp the wiring harness to your aftermarket head unit's harness (solder & crimps not included), plug the aftermarket head unit's plug into the rear chassis of the aftermarket head unit, and plug the wiring harness into your vehicle's factory radio plug.

Note: Installation tools, hardware, & accessories are not included & sold separately. Please see the Accessories tab for recommendations & availability.

Wiring Notes: If the wiring harness is not equipped with a ground wire, you will need to ground the aftermarket head unit's ground wire to the metal chassis of your vehicle. Some vehicle's may require you to bypass the vehicle's factory amplifier (in another location from factory radio) or hardwire certain connections. If your vehicle is equipped with factory steering wheel controls, an additional adapter is required & sold separately.

No. This kit is only recommended for use with the factory automatic (electronic) climate controls. If you have the manual climate controls, the Metra 99-5717 is the recommended dash mount kit: www.crutchfield.com/p_120995717/item.html

Bought this, a new radio, and a pre-spliced wiring harness for a 2004 Sable LS. Simply unplugged the radio and harness, and plugged the new one in. All controls look to work, but looks like there is a battery drain going on where there was none before. Not a single factory wire was cut. What could be going on? Defective Metra kit?

2005 Mercury Sable LS, want to go Double Din route. So does this kit bypass the factory amp and hook directly to the speakers ? If so, is there anyway to keep the factory amp, it does sound pretty good now, just want a more modern head unit.

2005 Ford Taurus SEL - Instead of using this dash kit to replace my factory dash with electronic controls, is it possible to install a dash kit w/out electronic controls? I've noticed a significantly lower price for the dash kit w/out electronic controls, and I can live with rotating knobs for climate control if it means saving $100 or more.

It's a different type of plug for the ac connectors on the digital install kit got to have correct one

I believe if you have the electronic controls in your model taurus the only way to have all of functions work is to install the electronic controls model. I tried this also and your climate control won't work.
