Metra Kit
Jessie from Taylorsville, KY on 7/30/2023
2012 Dodge Charger
Purchased this to add an aftermarket double din to a 2012 Dodge Charger SE. Setup was straightforward and instructions were clear. Product functions as it should, and even exceeded my expectations.
Pros: Adds a multitude of functionality to your vehicle.
Cons: Kind of pricey, but well worth it

Tabs broken, heater changes modes and speeds without input, sometimes doesnt cut power when vehicle is turned off and it's very cheaply made. Find a different route for your upgrade

For a beginner wiring the harness was the hardest part of putting together. Metra didn't include the radio brackets so I have to wait to receive them and then I can mount the radio in

First of this is a very expensive radio kit with less than stellar quality in the materials used to make it. Instructions could be a bit more detailed. After about 3 updates from metra I was able to get the unit fully working. Meaning if you have dual climate control with the 8.4 inch uconnect and ha e beats audio set up. Be prepared for a download and update nightmare if you can looks pass the uconnect screen properly working tour ok. Other than that I ha e no issues. Other it could use a price adjustment to 250 almost this price is way to much for the quality of plastic and the mushy cheap buttons used for the heater replacement controls I would rate it a 7/10
Pros: Use of aftermarket radio Great customer service from metra
Cons: Price Cheap buttons and materials Vague directions

Good kit that becomes great with a little work

Overall a pretty good product, which is good since it's the only option for us 4.3 inch Charger owners. Out of box the kits is good quality with clear instructions that result in nice fit and appearance in car. My new DDIN unit looks great! I chose to modify/add functionality to the kit 1. Added a female micro usb to male standard usb adaptor to retain factory remote usb outlet in center console. 2. Used Charger wiring diagram to tap into and add male AUX plug to retain factory remote AUX outlet in center console. 3. Disassemble 12 volt power plug from discarded factory cubby, drilled a one inch hole filed a small slot in the lower left side of kit dash panel to retain factory power outlet. There is plenty of clearance on and behind the lower left corner. 4. Removed and rerouted small led ambient light from discarded factory cubby and installed it in top of small factory cubby located below 4.3 inch display. Some of the buttons require two taps to activate. Also, the Charger has a 9 volt power signal from the factory radio that travels through the vehicle within the factory antenna coaxial cable to the antenna module. The module, located behind the passenger C-pillar trim, is an antenna amplifier powered by the 9 volt signal. Once the cable is separated from the factory radio the antenna module signal is lost, which leads to poor radio reception. I've yet to find a way to tap the 12 volt remote signal from my new head unit into the original co
Pros: Nice fit, great appearance, easily modified to retain ALL factory functions
Cons: A little work from Metra to complete the kit could easily make kit great.

Not the greatest, but worked

I expected better for spending well over a few hundred for this kit. I got it to work, but with modifications. Had to break tabs, due to hvac cables, had to thicken top tabs, so they would lock in, side tabs, catch radio screen when rotating, more major issues to me was, loss of 12 volt plug with no access to now get to it, it's covered by lower part of in dash cover, sometimes rubber buttons take more then one bump "press" to activate. The internal box that connects to harness, some how now disabled my DRL s function, and some other settings, and after the car sleeps a while, my screens are in a foreign language infill after first startup. If there was another maker of this dash kit I could find, I would try theres, even if I burned the money I did pay for this kit. Just disappointed of what I got for what I paid, expected better. Contacted metra about these issues, still no reply from 2 weeks ago.
Pros: It did work, to some extent and some modifications, boxes were somewhat plug and play.
Cons: Had to slightly mod and cut on in dash piece to get it to not catch radio screen while rotating. Hvac cable in way of tabs. Loss of 12 volt plug, due to being covered by in dash cover, loss of some factory settings, and weird language change from controller.dash cover does not sit flush with dash completely.

Jon from kirkland, WA on 2/8/2016
Bought this for my 2015 Dodge Charger and found that it sits a half inch to deep and does not sit flush with the Dash. I'm having a local shop trying to put it in but even they say its something they don't think they can do and they have been trying for 2 weeks.
Pros: Awesome if it would sit flush.
Cons: Does not sit flush with the Dash. More than likely have to return it.

it looks nice, but had to reroute the cables, which wasn't in the instructions and still can't get it to sit flush in the dash- has about half inch gap on the right side. I'm gonna end up paying a professional installer to correct it
Pros: looks nice if it would sit flush with the dash, buttons feel nice and not cheap
Cons: it doesn't sit flush with the dash, had to use tape to attach the stereo to the back of it
