High quality ensures an OEM look
Bob from Omaha, NE on 11/29/2022

I was very impressed by the look and finish of this kit as it gives the interior a very OEM look and is much higher quality then it's price would imply. It comes with a wide variety of pieces to be used as either a single or double DIN and fit perfectly in my 2007 Mazda MX-5
Pros: High quality, great fit and finish, multiple options

Strongly recommend!
Skyler from Brooksville, FL on 6/27/2022
2007 Mazda MX5
I have a 2007 Mazda Miata NC and the Meta Dash Kit looks like factory (matches the dash materials). It comes with everything you need for a single, or double DIN replacement radio. The Miata has a double DIN opening; however, I got everything I needed in a single DIN radio and the Meta dash kit provided an extra pocket shelf under the radio (for my iPhone). This was important because open spaces are hard to find in a Miata. Also, the Meta kit provided an extra way for me to mount the radio (instead of the metal shelve that came with it) and it held the radio more securely.
Pros: Matches the original dash plastic. Has everything you need for single or double DIN radio replacements. Plug N Play install.
Cons: None that I can see.

Very flexible - looks pretty good
Charles from Naperville, IL on 6/24/2022
2006 Mazda MX5
Overall good product. It's very flexible. It's so flexible, though, that it can be a bit confusing of which parts to use. In the end, my use case (single DIN) was easy once I realized I didn't need everything and that I needed to remove some trim pieces intended for other use cases. Before removing those pieces, it seemed like things weren't fitting.
Pros: Very flexible Looks much like factory piece
Cons: Trim around radio isn't as flush as I'd like

Flimsy
David from SAN FRANCISCO, CA on 2/6/2022

This was not built well. The shell is very flimsy, and the fitment is not fine. The left side of the cover does not align correctly. I also am concern when there are not side brackets reinforcement for the radio. The radio is only held by the front plastic plate. I'd expected higher quality.

This kit fit perfectly, and the front looks like it was always there. The only challenge is cutting the middle part out, and that was not so bad. It has to be there in case you install a single-DIN unit. Because I installed a double-DIN, it had to come out.

Perfect fit for the Mazda MX-5
David from MYRTLE BEACH, SC on 12/16/2019
Excellent product for doing a double-DIN install in my 2008 Mazda Miata. Trim the center piece out carefully and make sure the cut is flush. It took about 5 minutes to install the Kenwood unit and it looked perfect. I did what others recommended, I placed 3 drops of epoxy on each side where the mounting ears meet the frame. This will eliminate any creaking of the unit. Color match was perfect! Highly recommended.
Pros: Looks factory installed
Cons: Trimming the crossbar flush is a bit tedious

The installation for the most part is easy. The included instructions and the Crutchfield master data sheet are mostly correct. I know that even Crutchfiield cannot possibly have access to all vehicle makes and different trim levels. In my case the removal of the factory trim was not included in either set of instructions, but was easy enough to figure out. The fit worked perfectly and looks great installed in the vehicle.
Pros: Perfectly matches factory trim
Cons: Included instructions do not really cover all car variations

The fit on this was good with my 2006 Miata however the finish feels painted and is a little bit off compared to stock. Shows fingerprints and such. Biggest issue though is how deep the head unit sits in this trim piece. Sits about a half inch recessed so it looks a little strange and collects a little dust, not to mention makes the rear depth more than it needs to be. Overall this piece works pretty good but could be improved.

Looks good and integrates well with the Miata. However, instructions are only so-so, and it took me a while to figure out what to do with a Double-DIN display head unit with a single-DIN body. It also requires cutting if using with a double DIN unit, so be aware.
Pros: Looks clean, snaps together we'll, feels adequately constructed
Cons: Requires cutting for double-DIN, unclear how to fit double-DIN face, single-DIN body unit

Finished problem looks good and factory appearance. The problem is that now I hear some vibration noise coming from behind it now. I don't think the plastic side supports do as good a job as the metal braces that came out of the stock brackets
Pros: Easy to Install Fits the dash and receiver perfectly
Cons: Plastic braces holding the stereo allow for vibrations from behind the dash at certain RPMs

Amazed about all the great reviews, as it's not a fabulous piece of plastic. All in all, if there was another option I would be all over it...
Pros: Looks decent, kinda works.
Cons: - It doesn't line up that well with the top section above the install.. it doesn't sit flush. - It seems to pick up fingerprints a lot more than the stock material - The plastic is serviceable but even the mounting ears are plastic. Seems it would be much better to have some metal in it. - It's only held in by two screws... making it very easy to steal. I'm currently searching for some security screws to use in place of the stock screws to at least make it more challenging to steal.

The Main plate fits onto the car well, but the asymmetric HU cover leaves enough space to see under the HU. The plastic single din HU holders are a bit weak and I had to support the HU with a stack of felt on top of the cubby. The finishing face plates do not have a tight snap to them and the overall look is somewhat "NOT" factory looking. Using felt pads and a bit of Hush Mat helps with the above issues, but took me an extra hour before I was happy with the install.

Dash kit.................

2006 Mazda MX5
Fit and finish are good, but head unit mounting is below average. Not well supported - had to cobble my own to give head unit enough support.
Pros: Looks good after install.
Cons: Not a "complete" kit - to my measure. Needs better head unit support.

Easy install with the kit. Had one broken tab, (due I guess to shipping damage), but glued it and no problems. As usual Crutchfield comes through with easy to use kits and directions.

Prodcut worked great. Would have been nice to have more holes to mount radio into on the side brakets. The Radio sticks out a bit.

Looks like OEM part
Brian from Twin Cities, MN on 4/5/2011
This worked well on my 2008 Miata installation of a single-DIN JVC KDA-815. Color and fit are great - it looks like a factory part. Fit was very precise and snapped into place securely. It would be nice if the cubbyhole compartment under the single-DIN slot were more of a matte finish to exactly match the face, but I'm sure this is a stock compartment used on kits for several vehicles. The interior of the cubbyhole is slightly darker and glossier. It would also be nice if the interior had a non-skid surface, but this could be fixed with some adhesive pads.

Metra 99-7506 Dash Kit

Looks great in the car, matches up with the factory plastic well. The one negative I can think of is that it took me several tries to choose which holes to use to get the perfect angle of the head unit. (Clarion CX609). Once I got that right everything else went well. One suggestion I would make is to put the outer trim ring on as you are adjusting the angle and depth of the head unit. Had to do a tiny bit of trimming where I removed the single din middle bar, the plastic did not break perfectly cleanly.

Excellent product, installation instructions need to indicate size of blind bolt on left side of OEM unit. (10mm). Once this bolt is removed, installation is easy and concise. Bolt will not be re-installed.

Good, but required an additional spacer
Scott from Vermont on 11/2/2008
2008 Mazda MX5
The overall fit and finish of the dash-kit itself in my 2008 PRHT Miata was fine. The Crutchfield MasterSheet for installation was correct with the exception that the 2008s with the factory stereo (non-Bose) don't appear to have the additional bolt that requires removal of the panel under the steering wheel. However, my Alpine Alpine iDA-X100 (using the mounting sleeve that comes with it) sat far too deep in the top opening. This fit was entirely unacceptable, and it was impossible to get any of the trim pieces to fit well enough. Crutchfield was able to provide a spacer that set the head unit approximately 1/2" further out than it does normally. This provided a perfect fit. If the spacer is unavailable, you could simply epoxy the sleeve to the tabs under the top hole, allowing for it to stick out further first. Definitely try the fit on this before you head out to take the car apart. The cubby provided for under a single height head unit is almost entirely useless, but that's not a terrible surprise. It's a real estate situation. I've now got a great iPod interface with a great look to the install. And great customer service from Crutchfield.

Looks almost like a factory installation

This kit looks great in my '07 Miata. I used it to install my new Pioneer FH- P8000BT double DIN receiver. It looks fantastic. The color of the faceplate matches the surrounding factory parts. Fit and finish is excellent. The mount doesn't seem to be as strong as the factory mount but I haven't experienced any problems with the unit shifting.
