Great fit but does not blend in well
Moises from TEMECULA, CA on 8/4/2023
2003 Infiniti G35
The kit provided a great fit overall and would look like an OEM finish. The issue here is the quality/material of the buttons and paint. The paint does not match well with OEM items surrounding it and the buttons also fall short making it stick out even though it fits very well. For the paint, you could have it repainted to better match OEM interior finish but that is an additional cost. the cost of the kit however is reasonable so for the price point it is difficult to expect the same level of paint and rubber materials used. I am writing this review many years later. I owned the car for nearly 12 years and the kit for about 4 years. I kept the car mostly inside the garage with the exception of going to work. I can see over time the sun would further fade the kit and buttons if directly exposed to sunlight for prolonged periods of time.
Pros: Flush fitting Good price point
Cons: poor quality in paint finish poor quality of buttons

Color match, *for silver at least* is pretty close. You can see a difference but you wouldn't notice if you weren't looking for it. Everything fits and lines up perfectly. The rubber ac buttons look super cheap but at least they work. Price is a little expensive for what you get, but considering there isn't really another option, it's good enough.
Pros: Fits perfectly, silver finish is a very close match.
Cons: Buttons are rubber and look cheap, price is a little high for what you get

You get what you pay
Ian m from Mesa, AZ on 9/10/2017
2003 Infiniti G35
Fit and finish in dash: it actually fits pretty well, it a little loose in some areas and the paint doesn't match 100%. I'm unsure of the silver as I'm comparing it to a 14 year old unit, but the oem paint changes at the edges where this does not. Stereo fit and finish: there's a large gap for the Kenwood double and the Metra kit needed extensive modification to make it fit flush. Function: I'm dissapointed, the hvac lights intermittently flicker, everything else works as intended. Overall: you get what you pay for, for the current price I can't complain, if I paid full price I would be upset and would have opted for the JDM kit.
Pros: It works as a cheap option. HVAC controls work, it houses the stereo
Cons: Fit and finish has its flaws, HVAC lights flicker while driving

Don't Expect Factory Quality or Nav
Jeff E from farmington, MN on 3/7/2016
2004 Infiniti G35
It's functional, but wrecks the quality buttons of the original car. These are cheap rubber buttons. A quality unit would be able to accommodate the original Nav unit, this piece does not. Why not retain the mounts for units w/ Nav? If you have Nav, you will need to spend $100+ for the coin pocket that came with cars w/out Nav.
Pros: Functional, holds modern DIN and double DIN head units
Cons: Does not accommodate re-installation of original Navigation units, requiring $100+ coin pocket purchase for those cars. Cheap rubber buttons are functional, but nowhere near the quality of the original.

Matt from Port Orchard, WA on 3/2/2016
This dash kit fit for my 03 Infiniti G35 fits fairly well and was a decent match in color, however it does not look as nice as the factory dash. It also seems to scratch easily and buttons appear cheap. Everything works and was fairly easy to install.
Pros: Does what it is supposed to do.
Cons: Scratches easily. Run a fingernail over it with light pressure leaves a line. Appearance of buttons are not as nice as stock. One of the buttons appears to be stuck (i.e. doesn't return to the same height as the other buttons) but otherwise functions fine.

Works perfect on 2003 G35
Prat P from California on 9/12/2015
2003 Infiniti G35
This is a replacement to the original because of the control circuit was inoperative. I was unable to control the air conditioner and the stereo and so I had to fix this before giving the car away to my kid. The finish was good and fully functional. The reason for the 4 star is because it does not look original. The buttons were rubber instead of black plastic. I wished it was the same color. This kit has to be ordered along with the Metra 40-NI10 Antenna Adapter and the Scosche CNN03 Wiring Interface. But really all the necessary components required for my 2003 G35 sedan is listed by Crutchfield. I love the sales team who allows us to do one purchase with all the necessary components. Installation cost me $80. Radio unit that I pared up with this is Kenwood DPX501BT. A perfect fit. I would recommend this to any 2003 - 2005 G35 sedan who has the same issue as my car.
Pros: All buttons are functional and quality is good. Not quite the original replacement but is solidly built.
Cons: The color is a bit off from the original and for a car enthuse, it can be easily seen an aftermarket work.

Metra Dash Kit - not an exact solution if you have navigation
M-C from California on 3/25/2015
We used this dash kit in a 2003 Infiniti G35 for a stereo replacement. Though grateful there was a solution for this car to get a stereo upgrade it would have been helpful to know ahead of time that this kit is not a perfect solution if the car has a navigation system. Fortunately we found a video on another site that briefly highlighted a few solutions. Basically you have to file down the navigation control panel to fit the opening, and I would recommend using the factory metal bracket (instead of the metro plastic hanger tab) to mount the entire system back into the car. The navigation system weights just short of 5 pounds which is a lot for a plastic frame to support - and I don't think this system was built with that assumption of supported weight. The metal bracket also lets you continue to ground the navigation system correctly, and the navigation system will ultimately have some functionality. It is a tight fit, but seemingly a better solution. Lastly, if your navigation system doesn't work, know too that it is not so easy or inexpensive to get a pocket to replace it -- unless you like scouting the junk yards!
Pros: Acceptable visual appearance as compared to the factory standard Provides a solution to an issue where few options exist
Cons: Does not work well if the car has a navigation system Directions could be better - but if you don't have navigation they might be sufficient Plastic hanger that replaces the metal bracket that holds/supports the whole system seems inadequate Heat control panel buttons could have a better appearance

Color is not a perfect match, plastic is flimsy in contrast to the factory metal brace used to hold stereo. Overall a good fit if you are careful you might not break any of the smaller pieces that hold the AC vents.
Pros: Price for conversion to a double din with limited options for this car.
Cons: Manufactured cheaply

Not as nice or clean as factory buttons. Would have been better if made with metal frame like factory one instead of plastic. Fairly easy to install after learning how to remove factory enclosure. Just take your time and follow instructions as best you can. Had to file down a bit to get the navigation to close properly.
Pros: Good fit with rest of factory dash Factory climate control system works well with integration adapter buttons
Cons: Buttons look cheap compared to original Plastic connections a bit flimsy compared to original metal Had to find my own screws since holes were different size than original

Best Price I could find was on Crutchfield
FamilyG from Atlanta, GA on 3/9/2014
2003 Infiniti G35
I am guessing that this generation of the adapter is a culmination of all the improvements made due to the poorer quality (based on what I read on forums, Crutchfield, Amazon) of the earlier models. The adapter I got matched the interior of my light grey 2003 G35 sedan. I actually prefer the smoother surface texture of the adapter over the one used by Infiniti. I could not find a better price than what Crutchfield offerred at $99 (with head unit purchase).
Pros: Value for the money, color match, surface texture, fitment.
Cons: The kit's plastic rails do not seem sturdy, but only time will tell. I would have much preferred that the adapter accommodate the bracket included with my Pioneer head unit. Using the Metra rails, my head unit can be easily removed by hand. I would have preferred a requirement to use the Pioneer supplied 'U' grabbers that slips into the Pioneer bracket. The lock is simply more secure, and keeps the entire HU from coming out of the adapter when I try to remove the Pioneer's removal face.

Got it working with the nav system
Nadim from Collegeville, PA on 1/29/2014
2003 Infiniti G35
Crutchfield's software says you can't use this with the nav system in the 2003-2005 Infiniti G35. I found a video on youtube where a guy had figured out how to make the metra work together with the original nav system. I tried the same approach, and it worked great. It took a little doing, and it was a somewhat tight fit, but I'm very happy with the results.
Pros: Inexpensive, can be made (with some effort) to work with nav system, works!
Cons: Buttons are okay, but don't exactly match originals. Plastic is a little cheap / thin.

Metra 99-7604 Dash Kit
Eric from Minnesota on 1/21/2014
2004 Infiniti G35
This kit is pretty straightforward and easy to install although I had to modify it slightly to fit my stereo housing, on the back there are two plastic bars that prevent the metal casing from my factory stereo unit to fit properly to the new adapter that I had to cut out. Also the factory storage door that needs to be installed on the adapter didn't fit perfectly. My stereo had been modified by the previous owner of my car so these may be problems associated with my specific vehicle. Other then that its a very nice piece, looks clean installed.
Pros: good price, looks nice after install
Cons: some modification necessary

Great fit, however...
Shults from Bothell, WA on 12/25/2013
The panel fits great! Installation seems a bit daunting at first, but once you sort out what goes where, then reassembly is pretty cake. I am, however, having issues with full functionality of the climate controls. I was able to select both rear and front defrost with the JDM spec panel/control. The rear defrost panel light does not illuminate when activated, although it does seem to work in conjunction with front defroster(evident with defrosting in the rear and air movement in the front). I checked with the manufacturer and was instructed to check if the climate control panel was "jumped." It was not - next step is to initiate a return; I hope to get a fully functional panel, which would definitely warrant a favorable review!
Pros: Great fit; color match.
Cons: Climate control panel does not completely light up. Loss of some functionality with the aftermarket product.

2003 Infiniti G35
This is a nice looking dash kit. As for the installation, make sure you give your self enough time to do it correctly the first time, as once you finally get it in you won't want to go through the trouble of taking it out and putting it back in after you adjust things. When I say adjust things I mean the navigation screen and controls. You will need to sand down the bottom of the hole in the dash kit where the controls go. Take your time and make sure it all fits in and the screen will come up and go down normally before you install it completely. And the buttons are fine. I actually like them more than the original because these actually compress when you push them. Just my opinion.
Pros: looks good, buttons and lights work fine. Love the extra pocket
Cons: not a perfect fit with the navigation. Requires some filling down

My 2003 g35 was having a battery drain because of the faulty bose unit so I needed to get this kit and a new radio. I picked this up with the Sony XAV-64BT and it looks and sound great. The only complaint I have is that the buttons are really poor quality but they look OK and they work just fine (for now). Because of such a good experience I will be shopping at crutchfield again.
Pros: Easy to install, looks good, fits well
Cons: buttons are cheap.

If you need to replace your "climate control" finishing board and/or your radio, this is the way to go. The plastic and feel is very close to the factory piece (nobody but you and possibly a G35 geek is going to notice). The only drawbacks are the plastic mounting bracket at the top and the plastic mounting of the storage pocket. I wish there was a way to utilize the metal frame that came from factory so it was a bit more sturdy. However, after 3 weeks, I've had not problems. I will update that if it changes. The climate controls work great.
Pros: Quality of climate controls Look and feel Price (especially when bought as a package with the receiver)
Cons: Some flimsy attachment points

Decent Piece & Solves the Problem
Steve from San Diego, CA on 7/21/2013
2003 Infiniti G35
Bought the adapter to install a new, USB-capable stereo after the stock CD changer crapped out and took the HVAC controls with it (common problem in this car). I'll second many of the other comments here. Construction isn't nearly as robust as the OE part - plastic vice metal - but the single-DIN Kenwood unit we got is lighter than the stock piece, so this wasn't a big deal. Installation was pretty easy and the fit is quite good. Be careful removing the upper center dash panel around the clock during disassembly as it's easy to crack the ten year old, sun-brittled plastic. A new one runs about $70. The adapter works well and looks stock, except for the HVAC controls - the white-on-grey buttons look cheap on the black adapter unit. On the other hand, since we have our AC back here in SoCal, that's a small price to pay. Plus, my 17-year-old is thoroughly jazzed to have a stereo he can plug his iPod into. Would certainly buy again and Crutchfield's 50% discount with stereo purchase is a really nice perk.
Pros: Good fit. Solves the G35 dead CD & HVAC problem
Cons: HVAC controls look a little second-rate

Pros: Color matches perfectly.

Fairly good product. As other reviewers have stated it doesn't look quite a s good as the factory product. Color match was right on and the replacemt radio is so much better then the factory radio. Had an issue removing some of the trim and cracked it. Car is 10 years old so it could be that the plastic was weak due to the FLA sun. Had an issue with install and Crutchfield tech support was great.
Pros: good fit. works well
Cons: not quite up to factory standards. expensive.

My original Bose unit in the car was never very good. Always sounded muffled. Then about three years ago, the CD unit got stuck. About the same time, I started to have issues with the sound going in and out on certain speakers and had to hit the console to get it back. I believe the head unit had some shorting issues in the audio connections. Then this year the AC/Heater and radio controls stopped working on the console as well as no lights on the controls or radio. Funny thing is that the steering wheels controls still worked. However, with winter coming, I had to get the defrost buttons working. I then found this adapter and decided to give it a try. This coupled with a Pioneer FH-X700BT head unit and a few other Crutchfield suggests, I was able to correct all the above mentioned issues for around $350.00..saving be hundreds over getting a stock unit fixed! The great part is I gained Blue Tooth for both audio and phone with the head unit. Now I have no extra cables running around my car. The radio is much better too! I give kudos to Daniel at Crutchfield for helping me fill my basket with the additional little items I need to get the job done. Even the Posi-Products Connector Kit made the job much easier. I really did not want to solder wires together. The only negative is the top cubby that I had to reuse rubs lightly when opened and the feel and look are not top notch but very acceptable considering how much money I saved. Note: I did not have nav.
Pros: Good Color Match Fixed Audio Issues Fixed AC/Heater Control issue Got beter sound quality than the bose.
Cons: Bottons do not look the best (but still work well) Plastic brackets seem a little week (but did the job).

Overall, it works, but prepared not to be blown away by its quality. That said, Crutchfield was great with its help; particularly sequencing when (and how) also to install the steering wheel adapter I also bought.
Pros: While this part--in the end--fit fine, I'll add a few caveats (see "Cons").
Cons: 1- The first is that the screws the kit suggests you use to refasten the pocket above the stereo simply did not catch in the holes machined in the integration adapter. Do yourself a favor and buy bigger screws before you start the install 2- The integration unit's buttons are a far cray from the original G35 buttons 3- Snapping the climate system vents back into the adapter is not without some hard finagling

Infiniti G35 Integration adapter - Bose System removal
RichL from Cary, N.C. on 7/7/2012
The fit and finish of this was very good and the air conditioning / heat controls work perfectly. The color (black) matched the factory dash very well. The only problem I had was the kit not having enough screws.... and screws of the proper size to complete the assembly. I had to improvise by finding my own screws. I also chose to super glue the more critical screws in place to avoid having them work loose in the future. I recommend installing a double din receiver in this unit to keep the appearance more like it came from the factory. While the rubber buttons don't match the factory buttons, I don't see that as a big problem. Overall, now that the job is done.... and everything is working again, I'm very happy with it. It sure beats paying the dealer $1100 for them to fix the problem with the original Bose unit.
Pros: Matches factory color, fit and finish
Cons: Missing screws.

Good Replacement Choice
BobDog from Spokane, WA on 5/7/2012
This is a good alternative, to the factory trim/controls. If you are looking at this, you are probably having the factory Bose/audio finisher board issue. This returned full use of the HVAC controls and functions. The quality of materials is not as good as the factory, but at this price, or half price (if purchasing with a stereo) it is a good value. **The photos are deceiving and Crutchfield should make things more clear. If you have the shiny-silver finish (looks like brushed aluminum of stainless), grey is the correct color. I originally ordered tan (based on photos) and it is wrong. Tan does match the darker taupe areas of the trim (ie: around outter AC vents). Crutchfield customer service was great and air shipped me the correct one. Note: I installed this with the new JVC KW-HDR81BT Double DIN unit; Metra ASWC steering wheel control adapter; Nissan/Infiniti harness and antenna adapter.
Pros: Looks good and close to original, after install. Returns full functionality to the HVAC and controls. Including the dual temperature controls. There is a JDM (Japanese Domestic Market), which is closest in quality to the original. However, it is $300 +/- and you lose dual funtion. On a 9 year old car, this product is more than adequate. With a new stereo, the price is 1/3 the cost of the other brand and you maintain full function. No Brainer!
Cons: Quality of materials and quality control. The first unit I received, had a 2" scratch down the left front and several small scratches. All mounts a cheap plastic, rather than the metal of the factory origianal. And, the plastic is thin and care needs to be taken in install and any removal. Once in place, all seems good and matches very well. Fininish is a little more textured, vs. the more brushed look of the original. Still, matches well.

Needed Some Modifications
VSuke from Silver Spring, MD on 11/16/2011
2003 Infiniti G35
I installed This Kit along with a Clarion CZ401. I just want to give a few pointers for some that want to tackle this job themselves. If you have a Bose equipped 03'or 04' G35 make sure you order a head-unit with front and rear preamp outputs it will make this installation alot easier. All you will have to do is connect the rca preamp inputs from your Metra Bose wiring harness into your new stereo, and voila! - Scrap the 2 mounting screws for your top bracket that came with this kit as it Does Not fit their own screw hole. Take the screw with you and find something about the same length but slightly larger in diameter. Lastly, about exchanging the vents over from your original and into your Metra console. The right vent has a black plastic cover that conceals the 2 tabs that you need to get to in order to remove the vent. You can file down the tops of the black studs to remove the cover or you can do what I did with a little finesse. You'll notice that the stock console is flexible just like your new one, it can flex and not break. Lift up on the 2 tabs that you can get to, on the other side. Hold them up, now from the back, carefully pull and twist left or right and you will hear a click as the 2 clips that you cannot see hidden under the cover will release itself. So as you gently pull and twist at the same time it will come off, just like that! When you go to install all you have to do is just push it in and you will hear a click, as it gets locked in place. Done.
Pros: * Relatively cheap price. * Despite what others might say finish & color matches decently. * One of only 2 choices we have for 03-04 consoles to fix the common radio dead, no climate control, no defrost, situation. The other option being, buying a different brand console for over $350 dollars, costly. * Brought back usage of climate control, A/C, Heat, Window Defrost (Important), etc., not to mention you can now add any aftermarket stereo system you want now.
Cons: * The screws that come with it DO NOT work with their consoles. The hole is slightly too big for the screws they give you... ironic? * The plastic brackets to mount the head-unit is not designed well, it's no good. * Still give a 5 for being 1 of only 2 options we have and it works. Needs some modification if you want to use the gray face trim with a metal mount like I did. Grind away 6 points where the tabs go in, easy to do. Dremel helps.

G35 sedan with Bose System
Steve from Missouri on 10/15/2011
2003 Infiniti G35
Bought this to go in my 2003 Infinity G35 sedan with the Bose system. I hit the ever so popular power drain issue with the factory head unit and had to replace it. This works perfectly. Little chincy but once it's all screwed into the dash it's just fine. I found fit to be perfect. No jimmying as previously stated. The buttons are a softer rubber rather than the harder smooth plastic buttons from the factory. But is it suppose to be the same? The feel of the buttons is a little cheap but they certainly work. Harnes plugged right in with no issues and all HVAC controlls work perfect. Pros - works like a champ, fit and finish, if you use a single DIN head unit you can pull out the pocket to tuck wires and such. Handy! Half price when bought with a head unit. Plugs right into factory harnes. Cons - Little flimsy but solid once everything is assembled in the dash. Buttons could have been better.

Because of the price I have to give this a high score. The finish matched well with my silver (grey) G35 center console. The buttons are not exact but they look ok and work perfect. This unit replaced my faulty Bose and A/C controls. It only cost me $79 with the purchase of a stereo, pac sw1 and an online $20 coupon. The specs say that you cannot use the stock Nav system with this adapter. But with a slight mod (drill two holes and slightly file the stock nav control button face plate) I was able to keep the stock nav working and looking perfect. The amber lights of the a/c buttons match the stock lights perfect. great value! Thanks Crutchfield!

Leo H from Timberlake, NC on 3/30/2011
I am very happy to have my air condition controls back and to have a radio that works. Unfortunately, they don't make one of these adapter kits for the vehicles that come with factory navigation. When I called tech support they told me that their only instructions say to do away with the factory nav. and order the factory pocket. What!! I thought that was crazy! However, with a few modifications and using the factory metal bracket, I made it work. The adapter needs just two more screw holes. Since they are not there, I now have to physically force the nav. out to make it come out. Somebody needs to rethink this kit. Nav. works, no sound.

Dealing with the Infiniti factory setup was a pain. I'm happy to say the metra factory adapter is functional but requires a bit of tinkering to get it perfect. I had to replace the screws that held the top support piece with others that were slightly wider. Also the screws that you use for both the top support and to hold the storage bin need to be short so they don't bottom out. You may have to cut them shorter to get everything to snug up. The price for the factory adapter when buying a headunit from Crutchfield is excellent. You won't find it cheaper. The Crutchfield installation instructions and help if you need it can't be beat.

Great aftermarket replacement for older G35s
Mik from Murphy, TX on 11/30/2010
2003 Infiniti G35
For those that have experienced battery drain or broken AC control issues as a result of the radio problems on 2003 and 2004 models: - Infinity will ask in upwards of $1200 to replace the radio console - Infinity will ask for in upwards of $600 to take the radio out, have it sent out to be repaired, then put back into your car. - You can find some automobile repair shops that may fix the radio for $300-500 depending on if you also have a problem with the CD player. The Metra kit + an aftermarket radio can get you a great solution for under $300. The Metra design separates the AC controls to allow a user to put in an aftermaket radio and keep the AC controls. I have read that the AC buttons to not light up at night. I was pleasantly surprised to find out after the installation that they do light up at night. The grey kit is not an exact match, but its close enough for a 7-8 year old vehicle. The install instructions provided by Metra and Crutchfield are outstanding. The only issue I found in the instructions was that the left side AC vent had a plastic piece attached that did not allow the vent to come out of the factory console. Once this shiny black plastic piece was popped off, the vent clips were accessible. I did not put the shiny black plastic piece into the Metra kit and the vent still slides fine. I highly recommend the Metra kit for 2003 2004 G35 battery drain issue or to put in an aftermarket stereo.

2004 Infiniti G35
For my Infiniti G35, I recently purchased a Kenwood KVT-512 along with the requisite "Factory Integration Adaptor". Pros: This manufacturers adapter seems to be the only product out there presently, and it 'get's the job done'. Cons: - Cheap plastic. Very weak and wobbly. Screw holes strip very easily. - Once a DIN cage or anything else is attached, it is not very sturdy. - The factory cage from Infiniti was metal and very secure, while this replacement piece, as mentioned before, is ALL plastic. This means you have to be super carefull installing it. It also scratches very easily. - The piece does not fit perfectly. You have to 'jimmy' it in a bit. Again, very carefully. - The rubber push buttons are much cheaper looking than the factory. Closery inspection of the design shows that they went the cheap route with the circuitry and the buttons. They could have done better. Overall, I am really disappointed for having spent this amount of money on such a cheaply manufactured product. Unfortunately, there aren't any other options and I really like the new Kenwood system; hence, I'm stuck with it. Someone should have this manufacturer improve the composition and materials of the procuct. It's like building a plastic model airplane and then resting your VCR or DVD player on top of it. My childhood TONKA trucks were sturdier than this cheap plastic replacement.

Phi from Houston, TX on 5/28/2009
2003 Infiniti G35
Purchased this because it was necessary for a double din replacement since the factory unit I have had burned out. The color and surface matches the factory interior, so that works. The plastic isn't as smooth of course, but that's negligible. The buttons are the foam type and not the hard plastic buttons that are original manufacturer. That would be my only beef as for the price you pay you'd think they could make the buttons better. Overall though, it serves its purpose and does what it's supposed to do. I gave it a 3 because price wise it is rather over-priced in my opinion.

The product does allow you to replace the Bose radio with a new one. However, the HVAC control buttons do not match the OEM buttons and have a rubber like feel rather than the OEM. And, the outside ends of the air vents do not match the color of the original part. For this price you would think it would be a better match.

Jon from Newark, DE on 10/26/2008
If you are like me, I came across this product after experienceing the intemitent HVAC / radio problems in my 2003 Infiniti G35 Sedan. I decided to take a chance and ordered this kit knowing that I could return it for free if I did not like the quality. I also purchased the Alpine CDA9884 and received 50% the integration adapter. I thought it was worth a try fixing the problem for under $300 versus $1,300 that the dealer quoted me. The buttons for the HVAC do have a cheaper feel than the original and the color is slightly more metallic than the original, but if it fixed the problem, I could live with it. After a couple of hours of install, the job is done and the problems are fixed.
