Instructions included are useless for double din

This was used in a 2009 Tundra / Worked perfectly & looks great / only finally after disregarding the multiple pictographs & "instructions". Initially when opening & looking at instructions figured easy peasy. NOPE: the instructions included with METRA face kit are useless because it was way to ambiguous & did NOT depict how it was really supposed to be attached, installed, and this was for a ""simple"" double din install. Wasted time, effort, energies.

Poor fit.

Poor fit, 2012 Tundra Crewmax non-Nav, non-JBL. Stereo does not sit flush in bracket at the proper viewing angle, so the finishing trim doesn't fit into brackets, nor cover the gaps.

2011 Tundra Upgrade - Solid

Fit well enough with extra room to run cables around the new Stereo. Note: Gloss black is not the same as charcoal! - the display on the stereo I put in is large enough to cover it up, but charcoal vs black definitely different colors. Just be aware Only real annoyance is the storage pocket under the stereo bows up a little bit in the middle. It's not bad, but noticable, only real fault with the Dash-Kit

The previous owner had installed an aftermarket JVC deck but the mounting bracket was broken and stereo was not secured. I used this kit to reinstall the stereo. Great instructions and looks good in my dash.

Try a different brand.

This is one of the worst trim kits I have ever used. The first one was missing a piece so the Crutchfield customer service sent me another one (Crutchfield customer service is amazing) but they both had the same fit problem. The provided clips that screw to the radio and snap in to the outer trim don't really hold the radio in place very well. But what is worse is once you bolt it in to the factory location the trim flexes so you can pull the radio out using one finger. I had to re-drill the mounting holes and wedge out the plastic clips just to keep the radio in place. This is just not a good product.

Seems good so far.

Looks like the surround is stock with my truck. I used the glossy black on my 2008 Tundra SR5 and it fits perfectly and looks right. Relatively easy installation. Seems secure enough but I haven't been on rough roads with it yet to see if it shakes.

Nice finish, doesn't fit completely into the dash

The gloss black finish came out great, matching my tundra dash well. The kit however would not fit into the dash during reassembly. I trimmed the top left corner with pliers in order for it to fit next to the gauge cluster. But I made it work. The end.

Works well and looks good. With a double din unit, you will have to cut the plastic piece running across the middle of the main surround piece. The picture showed this being done with a box cutter. The plastic is pretty thick though and I had to break out the angle grinder and cut it with that and file it down. Once done, it fits great and looks fine.

Does not securely attach to dash

Does not securely attach to the dash. Notice from the photos that there are no holes to attach this kit to the dash with bolts. My vehicle (Toyota Sequoia) has attachment holes for bolts that the original factory radio was attached to. However, this Meta Dash kit does not use those holes and instead attaches only with clips. If you have a floating screen, a slight pull on the screen will cause this dash kit to come out of the dash. If you have a flush screen, this dash kit should work ok, though still not very secure. My main issue with the poor fit is that a thief could steal my floating screen in less than 5 seconds.

I'm very happy with the appearance. It matches well with the rest of the dashboard on my Tundra. It fits very well into the dash. No problems using my DDIN-sized radio in it. It seemed a little flimsy when I first took it out of the packaging, but it's fine installed.

What a great experience to work with a company that wasn't just trying to sell you something. From the first call to the time of purchase I had excellent help. I spoke with Buster both times and he help me get what I needed. Also the installation was so simple, I am 67 years old and did it myself in my Tundra: (see picture below). Terrible install kit. may work well for a small light head unit. I was trying to use it for a large floating screen and its design made it fall out of the dash from the weight.

Good trim piece for installing a new headunit. Matches OEM.

Looks good, doesn't fit 100% perfectly, but only if you look extremely close at the top left corner, nearly unnoticeable. The color match is perfect on the speckled charcoal. Annoying that you have to cut out a piece to put in a double DIN unit.

The dash disassembly schematic that was included with my purchased was so helpful and informative. Took Some Figuring

Installed on a 2013 Tundra with Sony head unit. In the end, the install looks good. The color is slightly different (I got flat black. I had read that piano black was similarly not an exact match.). It is not clear in the instructions exactly what pieced are needed and how they come together with the existing vehicle mount so it took some trial and error to determine what goes where. The Sony head unit is a single DIN but the screen is double that height. I could not determine how the single DIN side plates were to attach to the new head unit and then to the original mounts. In the end, I only used the face plate and the small trim piece that goes around the touch screen. Now that it's installed, it is solidly secure and looks good. I deduct a star for the color being off a bit and the instructions, but am happy with the install and comfortable that everything will stay in place and secure.

Must Trim Brackets to fit new Sony model XAV-AX5500 receiver

Pictures show how the brackets bend and never sit right on the side of this Sony receiver. It's a fairly new model so maybe they will fix it soon but I had to get a blade and trim the bracket to fit around the back edge of the LCD screen. Without fitting this way, there is no way the receiver + bracket width fits in the frame. Even after trimming, the weight of the receiver would constantly cause it to pop out of the housing. I had to break off some of the tabs on the finish trim piece because it was causing the radio to clip out of the housing as well. The only reason this review gets 3 stars is they did match the Charcoal/shimmer finish to the Toyota factory 100% so very pleased there.
