This Crutchfield mandatory item was not needed at all. I don't have steering wheel controls. All mine does is allow me to hear the key in and seatbelt chimes. It has plugs and wires on it that didn't connect anywhere for my application. They didn't even send me the installation instructions for this part.
Pros: All it does is allow you to hear warning chimes.
Cons: Very expensive for what it does. It does a minimal job in my application.

Excellent fit! Just followed the wiring diagrams given. all sounded great till I started the truck. then had a noise from the speakers that sounded like a blinker. but no blinker or emergency flashers were on. turning them on or off made no difference. I pulled the stereo out and checked and everything seemed correct. Before re-inserting it I started the truck and all was fine. I looked and the A/V plug and the rear camera connectors were not covered. I Don't have a camera yet so I taped the connectors so they couldn't accidentally ground out. No issues since. The sales support gave me confidence I could do this and thus I made the attempt. Thanks Obi!

Was having trouble with wiring in a new radio to the existing plug of a 2005 chevy colorado. Turns out the radio splits 1 power wire for multiple uses.. This little gadget solved the issue. Instructions needed to be read more than once to understand. If you read fully they make sense.. no re-pinning needed. Radio is in and 100% functional.. I always come to Crutchfield for vehical information.. if I didn't come to Crutchfield to look for a solution, I'd still be banging my head against the wall trying to figure out why the regular old run of the mill harness wasn't working...
Pros: Direct fit and function. Allowed for fast & correct radio installation

This harness was used to connect an Alpine iLX-W670 to a 2006 Chevrolet Colorado. This harness retains the Retained Accessory Power function of the truck, keeps the notification tones and provides the red switched power wire on the Alpine with switched power. It also includes wiring for the parking brake function which allows access to Alpine's additional features. Installation was super easy. It's expensive on its own if you don't buy it in conjunction with a head unit but is really worth purchasing for the ability to provide switched positive power, retaining the chime and providing the parking brake signal. Highly Recommended.

Boss Be920WCPA-C Very Nice Package Deal

I purchased the Boss BE920WCPA-C. I was especially interested in the Android Auto maps feature. Installation was pretty easy even with all the cables that need routing throughout the dash for the GPS antenna, microphone for the hands-free telephone, charging data USB cables not to mention the power cable for the back up camera which I had to route through the cab all the way back to the rear bumper. I decided to buy from Crutchfield because of their reputation for customer service and the lifetime technical support. I did have to call them a few times too after my install to get help with small issues that came up as I finished my installation. Overall, I'm very pleased with both my purchased and the staff as Crutchfield. I would buy again without hesitation, and probably will to get some new speakers to go with the new stereo...smiles.
Pros: Good Quality Head Unit Crutchfield's "ready cable" saved me a lot of time and work. Lifetime Tech Support (big plus)
Cons: Being new to the Boss BE920 I found it somewhat tricky to navigate through the menu. Lots of cable routing.

This wiring harness made life so much simpler Connecting to the factory harness. Also adding some Tessa Tape to wrap the harness made it look so much cleaner.

After a trip to two local stores - I called Crutchfield and in a 5 minute phone call they explained to me what my issue was with the other two harnesses I had purchased. They had what I needed and then held it at the counter till I could drive there and pick it up. They gave we a wiring diagram to double check my new connections. My stereo works perfectly and sounds great! I will be a customer for life!

Simple interface for simple stock audio systems without stock amp, etc. This has worked fine for my vehicle and I've had no issues with it. It had a parking brake wire on the harness so I didn't have to run my own wire. Chime and other functions work fine.

A must have for any new aftermarket installation

2005 Chevrolet Silverado 1500
This harness is a must if you're installing an aftermarket stereo in your vehicle. It saves you from having to clip the factory harness and then solder or crimp wires while in the truck. I soldered all wires from this harness to the supplied harness from the new stereo on my workbench. I used heat shrink to protect all soldered connections. Very easy to do if you have a soldering iron. My only hiccup was with the small black box that provides the "ding ding" sound when you have the key in the ignition. To explain, my 2005 Silverado uses the factory stereo and speakers to play the 'ding' sound. When you remove the factory radio, you must use the little black box. The harness has to connectors that will fit into the black box. The instructions do not tell you which one to use so I of course chose the wrong one on my first try and the unit would not power up. I swapped the connectors and all is well...even have the ding noise now.

This kit makes integration to the vehicle's existing wiring a breeze. Some assembly required.
Pros: Nice documentation and wire mapping from Crutchfield and my radio manufacturer. Easy splicing (I soldered mine) 15 minutes to splice or less on a bench. No need to splice in the cramped vehicle spaces.
Cons: The speaker box/chimes needs a longer leash. Try to mount that box somewhere accessible because it may need reset. I could not get mine accessible and it needs reset after shop work on the vehicle. Dash disassembly is not fun.

The Axxess AX-GMCL2 Wiring Interface made the installation of my Kenwood DPX504BT a breeze. I paid the extra money for Crutchfield to attach a GM connector. All I had to do was plug in the connectors to the GM in-dash wiring harness, plug the other end into the Kenwood, and everything worked perfectly the first time.

Having Crutchfield complete the wiring harness was a very good decision. Saved me much time, aggravation and anxiety. Since I am adding a backup camera to my system it would have been nice to have pigtail wires added for that connection as well.

Cons: No pigtail wires to power the backup camera. You will need to cut into the harness to complete camera install.

This product is as advertised and works well. The chime that is incorporated to provide audible signals replicates the tones which came from the OEM radio. One caveat, although Crutchfield offers a service ($25.00) to connect the wiring harness to the BOSS radio wiring harness I think Axxess could provide a wiring interface that would be complete for the different replacement radio on the market today.

I've installed and have helped installed a few head units. This thing is great. I'm colorblind, so usually it takes me a time or two to get the right sound coming from the right place. This made it easy. I overlooked the fact that all my dings (door dings, headlight dings, key in ignition, etc.) wouldn't be there if I hadn't used this harness. I'm thankful that this company has done the research to make that possible. On that subject, I had to either plug in a microphone, or the dinger that dings. The dinger that's dings is loud enough to be heard from inside my dash. I wouldn't go as far to tell you to leave it unplugged, but I left mine unplugged. It's a little pricey in my opinion, but for a product that makes my life easier, I can rely on it, and has 99% of the hard work already dealt with...it's worth it. Huge help to the process. Thanks crutchfield for helping me find the best product for my install.

Just because of my eyesight, I wish I had paid extra to have the Crutchfield crew make the connections for me, instead of soldering them myself. By far the easiest way to connect to the factory harness. The door chime sounds factory as well.

Everything you need for an easy install. (DO NOT WIRE THE GREEN PARKING BREAK WIRE) Installed for 2011 Chevy Colorado. Very easy, connected all wires with the harness that came with unit. Overlooked one important thing that seems to be a common factor in the thread. DO NOT WIRE THE GREEN PARKING BREAK. Make sure to cap it off along with other unused wiring. I did go ahead and snap off the metal bracket (part of Colorado not product) to make additional room for wiring behind the unit as mentioned in videos. Noticed immediately much better sound from audio! Drilled in a USB adapter for the accessory in bottom of console panel along with small hole for the mic. Such an easy wiring kit. Installed on a 2004 tahoe without Bose system. There is 2 of the plugs that are the same female connection. Only need one without the Bose system so a quick call and found out I plugged the wrong one in. Wired it up on the kitchen island. Never touched it after, that's how easy it was to wire. Use crutchfield screw connectors, you'll be happy you did. Customer sevice rocks so don't worry because they have you covered.
Pros: Professional, easy, seamless.
Cons: 2 female connectors that are the same but that's Chevys fault.

After splicing this to the wiring harness for the radio, I went to install the radio and discovered the harness does not have the right connector Ends. Despite being told it would fit my vehicle. The obvious would not turn on like this. Now I have to wait with my dash ripped apart for a different harness to come in.

Works as it should. But be aware that there are A Lot of wires to connect. I soldered them and it took a while. The Crutchfield instructions were deficient in one regard. They were silent on plugging in the chime box and the system wouldn't run until you do. Luckily the tech had heard this before and immediately diagnosed the problem.

So easy to install! I had a similar interface in the truck I bought but it never worked. I replaced it the axxess ax-gmc12 when I installed a new kenwood head unit. Super simple hookup and easy to make the harness part of the new installation. Everything works now- warning chimes, RAP and all. Very happy with this product!

It works but mine has an issue. The chine would not stay connected. Had to tape it in place so it would stay. If you install one, I would do that to prevent it from happening

Why wouldn't you make things easier on yourself? With these harnesses you make all your connections ahead of time, then when you're set to install, you just SNAP it into the existing connector and BAM! you're done. So simple it's scary. It turns weekend hacks like myself into a pro.
Pros: super easy to use
Cons: cost you a couple bucks, but you make that up in saved time

Worked perfectly with the Pioneer SPH-10BT that I installed in my 2007 Chevy Silverado Classic (LS, crew cab). No problems wiring up everything, and it retained the chime for the door and warnings, which I wanted. Great price through Crutchfield when I ordered everything there!

Makes life easy. No cutting factory harness. Easy color match. Had one problem locating one connection. If I had read the complete instructions first, I would not have needed to call tech support. Speaking of tech support, these guys are great.

Great aftermarket power solution

This interface is nice because it gives you a key activated power source. My 2006 Chevrolet Silverado did not have a key switched power tap. Its worth every penny.
Pros: Eliminates the need to run a wire to a keyed power source. Saves time and trouble.
