Bad Wiring

The Stereo work great now. I do sincerely appreciate your staff and understood the limitations of the radio swap when the other harness wasn't available. That said, my son took time away from his work so I didn't cancel my overtime to fix it. I bought this harness to assist with the install of a new stereo which I also bought from Crutchfield. The stereo I purchased is made by Alpine. The stereo (or wiring harness) has restrictions in place while driving which is why I am giving it and the wiring harness one star. Many features are disabled while driving. The screen items that are greyed out while driving will not work until you do the following. You must stop your car, apply the parking brake, release the parking brake then apply it again. I see allot of government over reach with what will and won't work while the car is in motion and while the parking brake is applied or released. It is also legal where I live to use many of the features that are greyed out while driving. That being said there is a way around these restrictions that will make it operate like a normal stereo without the restrictions that have been put in place. When the work around is completed I would give everything five stars.

Great product

Product makes a new install extremely easy and allows for return to factory head unit if you want. Make sure you print the wiring diagram out as my aftermarket harness had many of the same color wires as the kit. In many cases these same colored wires don't connect together. Much easier using a printout than trying to scroll up and down on your phone.

This is the kit for the Jeep Liberty the cheaper one doe not have the reverse light hook up or the parking brake wire in it so you would have to find those wires for the little extra this was worth the extra money and it comes with both harnesses for the radio so you have the right one know matter which radio you have

2010 Jeep Wrangler Sahara

Made it easy to install a new head unit in my wife's 2010 jeep wrangler. Be sure to read the instructions, not all the wires match color and some may be unused. For my wife's jeep, there was a smaller connector in the back of the existing radio that was not used at all. You also hooked up the rear speaker outputs of the aftermaket unit (Sony axv3200) to the front speaker inputs of the jeep to utilize the factory amp. Nice that it included reverse wiring and parking brake sensors so I didn't have to run wires everywhere. Her jeep doesn't have steering wheel controls so I was able to use the acc wire (red) to the SWC connector to power a new backup camera full time.

I believe that if I didn't buy this one piece at purchase that I couldn't have installed my BOSS unit, I've seen some set-up through the years where wires would be everywhere, all spliced together and what a mess, and I don't mean a few, it was more like fifteen or more wires and then there was the worry than none of these connections would fall apart, so yes I would recommend that you purchase it.

Definitely Worth the price, A little advanced to hook up if its your first time. But i was able to get it down after a few hours of research on this product. The directions dont tell you everything but does make sense after fighting with it also the directions say that you will loose power to the fade in the factory amp but i didnt loose any control over any of it. DO NOT MAKE CUTS UNTIL YOU KNOW WHAT WIRES YOU NEED TO CONNECT. that will make the install 10x harder. Support was able to help me figure it out in less than 5 minutes and they were super nice.

2010 Charger R/T with nav.

Plugged in to one of my car stereo plugs. Another adapter is needed as well to keep steering wheel controls. Was all was hooked up left/ right balance was opposite and steering wheel controls were sketchy at best. This was likely due to the cheap "2 DIN" android stereo that was attempted to install. Stereo was not standard 2 DIN and was too large for the opening so it was removed and factory reinstalled. This plug was simple, the steering wheel controls were not so much.

It's a little daunting when you see all the wires. The directions explain what they are, but don't really feel you how to connect them. It takes a bit more research than the directions give you. But once hooked up everything does work.

Read the instructions thoroughly

Relatively easy to install. Had to get this to use the OEM amp in my 2005 Jeep. Came with two harnesses depending on the wiring in my Jeep, found the correct one and matched up the wires. One thing of note, in my install it was required to wire the speaker wires differently then normal, it is in the instructions and bolded, but for someone skimming the instructions you may miss it.

Be Careful

I used this recommended wiring interface with my new Sony XAV-AX1000 in my 2006 Ram 1500. This wiring kit was a complete disaster ! I installed car stereos for several years and never experienced this outcome. After installing the radio the unit kept cutting off and on and threw an error code in the truck's computer and shut the truck down. the dash lit up like a Christmas tree! After unhooking everything it started back up and cleared out the codes. THANK GOD ! The directions that come with this wiring interface completely suck. I called Crutchfield tech support and they couldn't help. Long story short, I removed the little computer interface box and wired the radio up direct to B+, ACC, Ground, disconnected the dimmer and wired brake wire to ground. I used the adapter plug only to connect the trucks speaker wires. Now it works perfect. There are so many different ways dodge connects their factory radios and this wiring interface doesn't always work for each different one. Be careful is all I can say when using this wiring interface ! Thank God I didn't ruin my trucks computer.
