Always have used Pioneer and this will be just as good.Since the mid 70's i have been using speakers,equalizers anything audio and it has always performed at it's best!!!

Fantastic piece of kit, this is an amazing head unit.

SO way back in 2009 or so, I ordered a Kenwood Excelon receiver from Crutchfield to put in my 1999 Land Rover Discovery 1. Nice upgrade from the factory unit, had lots of settings for the sound quality, so thought it was good enough. Fast forward to now and wanted better sound to celebrate a quarter century of this vehicle as my daily. Read the reviews and was down to another Kenwood and this Pioneer. Chose the Pioneer for a change, and WOW, does this unit perform! The car is now filled with hi quality sound that puts a huge grin on every time I get in. Absolutely astonishing. It sounds so good, I offer to run errands just so I can hear it more!

Clear, robust sound

At age 80, I'm clearly not in the target demo, but I'm very pleased with all the features with the exception of display brightness, I enlisted some teens to verify that it wasn't just my ancient eyes. I suspect the target customer has windows tinted to just short of a felony. In any event, the sound is robust, Bluetooth phone calls are crystal clear and the menu options are unambiguous. The real winner was Crutchfield's custom harness. It made installation in my 30 year diesel pickup a snap. Removal and installation took 30 minutes instead of half a day. Good job all around.

Read the instructions closely

The sound of the stereo is great. I had forgot to plug in the microphone and wanted to pull the stereo back out of the car dash I was not aware of the tools in the box. I called Crutchfield advisor because the tool that I ordered was not for the new stereo but for the old one. The tool in the pioneer box would not pull the stereo out and was so flimsy that it bent and was not able to latch on to the stereo to pull it out So I had to take apart the dash and plug the microphone from the back still in the dash. Otherwise everything

Strong value for the money, nice sound & features

Really nice sounding unit, with many nice / features for the price. Many of those I'm not using (so can't comment on them) since my installation was very simple - front L/R speakers only; no subwoofer, power amp, etc. The HD Radio feature is especially nice - it allows scanning / programming of HD stations in addition to standard FM / AM. The plug-in external microphone is also a nice touch - it provides nice phone chat quality when the unit is used in conjunction with a smart phone. The only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 was the lack of clarity in the Quick Start guide as to the wiring diagram. A simple wiring table that covers all wires and their usage in one place would definitely be an improvement, and would have saved me time on the installation. Overall, however, a great value for the money!

Built in crossover

I always have gone with a pioneer radio. I was happy with it as usual, but when I set up the built in crossover I was super happy with the sound improvement it made to my midrange and tweeters. Before setting it up I thought I was going to have to replace the speakers to get the performance out of them I wanted. I didn't have to replace them they sounded super crisp and clean rounding out my system. Great suggestion from TJ. I will be back to make more purchases at Crutchfield.

High quality upgrade for my old truck

This Pioneer head unit has all the bells and whistles for me aside from a touch screen, which I don't prefer anyway. The install was relatively easy with the proper tools and it took me less than an hour. I've enjoyed this head unit so much that I purchased a second unit for my other vehicle. There are plenty of customization options with a few decent EQ presets, if tweaking frequencies is not your thing. The bass switch button is awesome for songs with long bass notes like hip hop or whatever. While installing this unit, I also upgraded to four new Pioneer component speakers all around, and paired with this head unit the sound quality is so much better than the factory setup I had before. After a month of daily bumping in the ride, I haven't had any issues at all. I haven't tried the app connectivity stuff since I mainly use the CD player, and simply connect bluetooth to my iPhone and shuffle play through my phone's music library. So far it works flawlessly for me. I like that the skip track buttons are on the far left with less emphasis on smart phone buttons like many other units. There is a hard plastic bump/dot on the "next track" button which I appreciate a lot! It helps me feel the dot instead of staring down at the head unit to skip to the next track when I'm driving. Overall, this Pioneer head unit is a high quality upgrade for my older cars and I highly recommend it if you still enjoy CD's and aren't a big touch screen enthusiast.

Pretty decent

Replaced a 2000 silverado stock unit. Much better radio reception, like 2x or 3x the channels I never knew existed. I would prefer a easier interface to use, to be fair it's been 10 years since I have used a single DIN unit and it's not as intuitive as the larger new HMI screens that come in new rigs. But it's alot of tech packed in a small package. So far I do not like the pandora interface, the screen on your phone goes to Pioneer and no control from the phone screen. Cannot figure out how to control through the pioneer app or the head unit. So I have found closing down pandora on my phone, re opening it clears the problem. Annoying to say the least. The tuning options are above my level of understanding, I'm use to treble, mid, bass adjustment. This unit has way more than that, so I use the preloaded EQ's .

Good choice for adding streaming to a single DIN car

This head unit worked out great for my 1999 Mustang I've been working on with a factory Mach 460 system. Crutchfield was a big help too. I wanted to be sure this unit would stream Apple Music and Sirius XM before I bought it. I used the online chat before I purchased and they confirmed that it did. I used Crutchfield's pre wiring service so the unit was plug and play when it showed up. The streaming via Bluetooth for Apple Music and SIXM works great with the downloadable app. The menu on the head unit was easy enough to figure out. If you're looking to add updated inputs via bluetooth for streaming audio to an older car with a single DIN opening and don't want to hack your dash apart for the sake of having a touch screen, this unit is a great choice.

They said that it could not be done

I hated the stock stereo system in my beautiful 2010 BMW Z4 and wanted to up grade. So I started out with Facal separates front and rear it was better but still not what I was looking for sound wise. I decided to go with an aftermarket head unit and everybody said that it can't be done in this model. Well I did a lot of research and the M3 has the same wiring and mounting kit. With the help from Crichfield I now have a sound system that rocks. My next to add is separate amplifiers and put two JBL fuse subs behind the seats.

MINI R52 JCW replaced HK head unit and removed HK amp and Sirius device. This Pioneer has HD tuner, vetted soon after install so very happy about that, tested locally KNTU HD1 and KNTU HD2!!! Drives factory midrange front speakers and rear speakers. Opted not to wire in front high mount door tweeters. Speaker wiring required from head unit connector via Crutchfield 9 wire to under under passenger seat. Be patient yet persistent when routing speaker wire. Prior to install suspect bad amp so removal of it and factory Sirius device shaved five pounds from car. Have used Pioneer Smart Sync Apple app which made clock setting very easy. So far have 6 preset FM stations. That's about all I need so 12 more may be hard to fill. Default color scanning is awesome mesmerizing! I imagine I won't use some functions. Too much to deal with and drive a manual transmission at the same time. Great to have radio (NPR) without drift. Super happy with my install. Rate 4 because nothing can be perfect; has features I wanted and will use and so many I probably won't ever used.

It has Great Features, though you can't use your iPhone directly through USB, it's only for android Phones only. Also, I might have gotten a bad radio since I get static through both the aux input and Bluetooth. Hopefully, the replacement radio that I requested won't be broken as well.

First of all, Crutchfield customer service is outstanding. I made a bonehead mistake when ordering the unit with pre-wired harness. Instead of ordering a harness for an 01' Miata I ordered one for an 02'. I began the install and quickly figured out that the pre-wired harness was very much the wrong one. I did a quick check on my order and discovered my mistake. Crutchfield customer service was able to generate a duplicate order with the correct, pre-wired harness included and had that order out to me 1 business day later. I had the replacement unit/harness 3 business days later. The return of the incorrect harness was really easy with the return label Crutchfield provided me. My mistake only ended up costing me $15, not too shabby! As far as the unit goes, I like it. Getting it connected to my iPhone via Bluetooth was a little annoying but only took about 10 minutes. Also, if you are an iPhone user be aware that to connect to the phone via USB you have to turn off MPT. The unit complements my 2001 Mazda Miata well. Installation couldn't have been easier with the pre-wired wiring harness. The unit was pretty much plug and play. The only wiring I needed to do was to cut and strip the existing ground wire, do the same for the Crutchfield harness ground, put a wire nut on the two, electrical tape the connection and done! The install was really, really easy thanks to the Crutchfield harness. Just pay the $25 and get it, you will be glad you did.

Finished installing this unit and new speakers in my truck. Install was complicated by discovering a mess of spaghetti behind my dash. After I got that cleaned up, the install went very smoothly. This Pioneer sounds nice, and set-up, post-install was very straight forward. Recommended

So frustrating i put my fist thru it

This is by far the worst purchase I have made in my entire 60 years. Software made by some idiot millennial no doubt. I bought this after reading how these after market double din decks crap out after a couple years, and I just wanted a radio with a volume knob that's easy to get to while driving. This thing is a nightmare! Volume knob is about as thick as three quarters forcing you to pinch to grab it. Display sucks and dim. Marketed as a "Smart" Unit, you cannot even use the radio without linking it to the app. Once I got that working I couldn't find anyway to set the presets. Gave up on that and headed to the Apple carplay. CarPlay went right into my songs on my phone and would not work with YouTube music. Also some of the songs on my phone caused errors and would not play. Tried to get back to radio and there is no selector switch to switch from radio to airplay. Pushing buttons would send me into demo mode with all kinds of crap scrolling on the screen. One big dedicated button For BASS. Wow, great! Just what I need when I'm trying to drive and control the radio! In the end I just punched this freaking thing in frustration and cracked the display. Just ridiculously complicated to use! "Smart" Unit? In your dreams. .

Great replacement!

Purchased to replace the stock Jeep RES non-touchscreen radio that gave out. I've had Kenwood and Sony products in vehicles before and this may be one of the best aftermarket headunits I've ever installed. Sounds and looks fantastic. I was having some regret that I didn't upgrade to a double-DIN touchscreen, but not feeling that anymore. Love this product. I don't love the bluetooth microphone, but that's also to be expected (they're never perfect,) but the bluetooth experience with this unit is so much better than uConnect. I love being able to adjust the colors of the display and buttons separately, so I can almost match up the colors of the JK dash display perfectly. The manual is a little unclear about some of the operations, but it was pretty easy to figure out with a few minutes of messing around. I paired this with a SiriusXM tuner for a little flexibility, the Crux CR-41 interface (check out my review on that for the only issue I had) with prewired harness, and upgraded the rollbar speakers to a pair of Kickers. As always, tech support was awesome answering questions for me.

Exceptional Improvement! Sounds like a whole system upgrade!

I purchased this as a replacement for an older pioneer after market single din unit a previous owner had installed in my 91 civic hatch. This was a massive improvement over that unit which was to be expected. What I didn't expect is how much better the pioneer speakers, not stock, and overall audio quality sounded after the replacement. I had expected to move on to replacing the speakers next, but I don't think that's going to be necessary now. It felt like I had replaced my speakers after installing this head unit, so I'm moving on to installing a sub instead. no regrets!

Best car stereo head I've ever owned! Economically priced for all features considered. Of course, I haven't upgraded my car stereo for 18 years, so of course I'm impressed, and I don't need one of the newer technology heads with giant screen and driving directions. Great Jeep upgrade

Fair value, wiring instructions not complete

The blue / white system wire connects to both the blue / white amp trigger and the blue power antenna lead. The downside is the antenna is always up, even when not listening to broadcast.

HD radio. Reliable high quality elctronics . This is what pioneer is known for and is maintaining with this model CD player. All the sound adjustment controls you could hope for and a reliable app to accompany it. A 31 band equalizer in the app works perfectly for customizing your music. The controls on the CD player face feel smooth and solid as well as work great. Pioneer rocks!

Everything in a small package

Worked perfectly as a replacement for the OEM head unit in a 2012 F250 Lariat. The Pioneer supported all the features of the truck's original speaker, subwoofer, steering and remote microphone configuration. Plus this unit had HD radio which I'd really wanted after having it in my wife's vehicle. Could have had a touchscreen given the size of the dash but opted for a high quality, HD radio that supported everything in the truck. Very pleased with the decision.

I'm very happy with this head unit. I had a Pioneer SPH-10BT. Installation was straightforward and the unit works great. Its much better for me to have physical buttons versus the SPH-10BT. As always the Crutchfield support team is wonderful. Helped me get it all installed and wired up. The guys are very personable and take the time to make sure you get it working.

Install was relatively easy. Learning how to setup and use was a little more difficult. This is the first optional/replacement unit I have purchased in 30+ years so I'm a little rusty on how the units are setup. The pre-made harness was the best and only way to go.

Bought mainly to get a CD player in my Jeep WJ, & I have had good luck with Pioneers over the years. It was a very easy install, & I definitely like the HD radio, stations seem clearer & stronger. Has a lot of features I'll never use & some I still have to figure out but in a months use I'm very happy with it. Crutchfield made it easy with wiring & dash adapters plus free shipping, I'd do the same again.

I purchased this system to upgrade an older stereo in my rv. I'm still learning how to use it, but so far I am completely satisfied with the system and with Crutchfield's assistance in helping me to select just the right stereo. The installation was simple, and the stereo sounds great! It has more features than I will probably ever use. I cannot find anything with this system that I am the least dissatisfied with. This is the first after market in dash I have purchased in many moons. This receiver sounds amazing!! Purchased Pioneer front speakers(still have oem speakers in rear deck for now) and I was convinced before purchasing that I would need a power amp . Not true-in my case anyways. I am extremely happy with the sounds I am hearing. Things will be even better in the spring when I install new rear deck speakers. It has everything I was looking for and then some. CD player, aux, HD radio usb etc. There is a lot more for you techies out there -I'm pretty old school as far as features I'm looking for. With the preset eq and the fact that you can customize these presets-you'll be sure to find 'your sound' . The unit has the capability to add a lot of punchy bottom end(hence my not needing a power amp at this point). Just a great all around unit and fairly easy to navigate also.

ease of operation plus pioneer reliability is the perfect combination . I used to take my pioneer 8 track out of my 63 nova and hike into the pocono mts. for weekends, carry a car battery and a pair of house speakers this was before boom boxes, and jam all weekend.

I purchased this item so I could have Bluetooth and listen to my MP3 via the USB. also I never had digital radio before. After installing I was driving to work and noticed every bridge i came to would shut the unit off while using the USB port. One time it shut the radio completely off and reset everything. So, I decided to listen to the radio. I received many radio stations that I had not heard before. However I soon noticed that the music was very odd. It began to skip and stutter. Thinking that it was the radio station I changed the channel and there it was again. not every channel always but enough to not want to listen to radio. I am disappointed with this unit. Unfortunately, due to a hectic schedule that arose I was not able to get the unit installed until after Crutchfield's return policy had expired. My fault. Crutchfield did everything right. I received my order quickly and correct.

Fantastic system

This radio has just the right features. Multiple color controls for backlight and display, HD radio, easy bluetooth streaming and apple phone integration. The extra bonus is the phone app that allows you to do high level of configuration of all the settings and eq settings. Additionally, with the wiring adapter, this work perfectly with my BMW HK amp and OEM subwoofer. It's really a no brainer BMW 2000 M Roadster

Radio is fine does what it says it will do. The reason for 3 stars is the installation manual is pretty lousy in my opinion. The color codes and what it does on the radio wiring harness seems pretty lousy. The operation manual was not included in my radio box. I had to go online to look it up. I personally prefer a manual that I can flip through vs trying to read it on the phone. Crutchfield is 5 star rated on this purchase for time from order to my door. They sent the wrong wiring harness by mistake and rectified it quickly.

Love this unit.

I needed to update my 2003 Envoy with a better audio system and after careful reviews of what my family wanted (CD player and HD radio was a must-have) I chose the Pioneer DEH-S7200BHS. It had everything I needed to keep the legacy systems going, plus the availability of an XM/Siruis feature that I liked. Installation was painless and took less than 2 hours with the quick-connect harness and the Metra chime unit I purchased at the same time. I really like the USB input feature and I have moved all of my CDs over to the MP3 format. Having a new USB charging plug in my SUV is a nice feature too!

Very happy with performance of this receiver, with the exception that my iPod Nano is not supported for USB connection. Radio only sees it as an iPhone and will not connect.

Classic car owner and daily drivers

Out stand radio. Be a recycled teenager ( 73 ) the operation of the controls where a challenge. My 1961 Corvair has a working vacuum tube AM radio. Every hing about the radio i like great product.
