Great tweeters

Verified employee review (What's this?)

I'm impressed with the quality of these component speakers for the $$$. Install instructions provided by Crutchfield were pretty useful overall. I had to slightly cut the tweeter opening in the front pillars of my 2022 Mazda CX-5 to accommodate the 2" width. Had to fashion my own bracket for the backside of the tweeters (as warned prior to purchase with 'modified fit' designation). I used hot glue and super strong 3M tape to hold the tweeters in place. We'll see if it lasts or not! All other parts were provided for the install. Woofer installation in front door was easy. Sound quality of the tweeters is really smooth. It will be interesting to listen for any changes after a break-in period, but as it is I am already happy with the sound. After listening to a variety of music genres, I'm really enjoying this upgrade and definitely feel it was worth the money.

Huge upgrade from stock speakers

Nathan from BELLEVUE, WA on 3/2/2025

2006 Toyota 4Runner

Verified customer (What's this?)
Verified employee review (What's this?)

I purchased these TS-D65C speakers for the front doors of my 2006 4runner. I chose this set because in around 2010, I installed the D series components in my Volvo which was a pretty large system. Was very impressed with those speakers in my Volvo. They sounded loud and detailed with an amp. Love those speakers. This 2025 iteration of the D series also do not disappoint. They are a huge improvement from the stock speakers. Pioneer includes a mount for the tweeter which bolted right on to the 4runner. I didn't even need the Metra tweeter adapter that Crutchfield supplied (which would have required drilling a hole in the adapter). So that was an added bonus that simplified installation. Just a couple things I noticed, however, with the 2025 D series vs the older 2010 era D series. Pioneer has eliminated the separate crossover box. The crossovers are now in line with the supplied speaker wires. I consider this a downgrade compared to the older version which had a more sophisticated crossover and didn't require you use the thin speaker wire supplied. Secondly, the baskets on the woofer are now a thinner metal. These two things are why I deducted a star. The speakers sound detailed, not harsh in any way, have plenty of bass, very musical. I like them.

Pros: Sound is detailed, musical and not harsh.

Cons: Seems like pioneer build quality has decreased compared to older D series.

Cruthfield was great!! Gave me everything I needed to hook these up correctly the first time. Everything they suggested was helpful. Adapters, plastic mounts, cable connectors. They fit perfectly. Only thing the tweeters needed capacitors to function correctly. I purchased them locally and they are superb. Recommend adding capacitors to list when buying.

Pros: Speakers work great. Crutchfield helped amazingly.

Cons: Capacitors needed for tweeters.

(4) 6905 were the deck speakers w/an amp and sub back in the 80's. fast forward to 2024 and Pioneer has not let me down. Everything from Whitesnake in Japan Drum Solo, Forevermore,to Young Jeezy, and Whitney Houston These will get the job done, I'm looking forward to installing another set in the knee pad area, and another Amp w/a larger Subwoofer. Thx Pioneer for holding it down.; also I punctured the cone while installing and they still work??perfectly. (Not recommended)????, I am 53, my daughter is 29 she approves!!

Pros: Easy Installation, all scenarios covered with hardware provided.

My stock speakers were repulsive in my 2018 Mitsubishi outlander sport. I needed something with decent bass and just better sound quality overall. These speakers checked off both of those boxes and the installation (with the kit of course) was an absolute breeze. I liked the speakers so much that once I changed the front ones I bought two more for the rear doors. Definitely a great purchase!

Pros: Everything about them!

Verified customer (What's this?)
Verified employee review (What's this?)

These speakers sound amazing, especially when paired with some Pioneer 6x9's in the rear that a coworker gave me. Install was fairly straightforward with the instructions and accessories given, the paperwork that comes with the speakers is useless but the mastersheet more than makes up for it. I installed these speakers in my Impala Limited which already has tweeters in the a-pillar. That being said, there was some soldering and creative attaching of the tweeters that needed to be done (both of which I was warned about). The soldering could actually be avoided for my application by ordering 2 more Metra wiring harness' and finding where the plug for the stock tweeter harness is inside the dashboard, which I discovered accidentally. The payoff is well worth the effort, the speakers sound awesome with crisp highs and smooth bass. Well worth the money, even with the factory head unit.

Pros: Sound quality Value for the money Included installation gear made it easy for the woofers MasterSheet is very easy to follow

Cons: The instructions included with the speakers contradicted the MasterSheet (for my specific installation). Soldering required for the tweeters if you follow the MasterSheet to a T (didn't bother me but it could annoy some folks). Can actually be remedied for old body Impala's by ordering 2 extra Metra adapters.

Great speakers. For their size, woofers have decent bass. Tweeters are clear. Box comes with a Y split for the tweeters to connect with the woofer. Make sure you have a place to mount them. NOTE: Tweeter mounts twists off, they do not twist off. Thanks, Crutchfield.

Pros: Sound

Cons: Tweet mounts could be designed better.

Verified customer (What's this?)
Verified employee review (What's this?)

I put these in my 2010 Honda Ridgeline RTL. Installation Difficulty: 6/10 I used the supplied mounting brackets for the door speakers and that was easy enough. I also used small strips of tape-backed rubber weather stripping as a buffer between the door metal and the mounting brackets (foam would have worked too, but rubber is more durable and squishy to dampen vibration). Plenty of Youtube videos helped. The tweeters were pretty easy to install too. I glued some foam to snuggly mount to the factory grill. I also used some tape to keep them from falling out of the grill bracket. Had to order a couple wire harnesses for a clean connection. Sound Quality: 9/10 These front speakers do a lot of the horsework for the sound. The bass and treble combination is a symphony. The tweeters deliver a real crisp response (think crystal clear snare drums), and the door speakers bring a balanced bass. Overall, very pleased with the sound given the price point. Highly recommend.

Verified employee review (What's this?)

Great upgrade for a 2006 Honda Pilot replacing a pair of Pioneer TS-A1680F 4-way coaxial speakers in the front. Highs are clear without being screechy and the lows are good. Needed to use a 6.5 in. x 3/4 in. thick mdf spacer ring plus the adapter rings that came with the TS-A1680F speakers in order for the TS-D65C speaker to fit the smaller oval shaped door speaker holes (see photo). Wanted the tweeters up in the sail panels but the sail panels had a slight curve so the tweeter surface mounting ring wasn't able to mount flush. Brought the tweeter mounting ring out about 1/4 inch from the sail panel, filled in the gap around the mounting ring with plastic weld epoxy putty, sanded then painted. Having the tweeters up in the sail panels really improved the front seat overall sound imaging. Still have a pair of TS-A1680F 4-way coaxial speakers in the rear doors for fill.

I bought these as a replacement for the front speakers in my 2006 Tundra. All though there were a few "modifications " for the tweeters, ( I removed the factory tweeters off their bracket and glued the new ones on them, it worked great). The wiring diagram is a little deceptive, if you are somewhat experienced in stereo / speaker installation wiring is fairly easy. The adapters that were for my truck worked great with no modifications needed. The speakers sound great, I am very satisfied with all aspects of my purchase.

Pros: Not real expensive, fairly easy to install, they came with the adaptors and they fit perfectly.

Cons: The wiring diagram is deceptive and doesn't make sense. The tweeters could have come with their own brackets.

I mean plain and simple these speakers sound great out of the box, I am running them in a convertible in some custom cake panels and of a 60 amp/channel infinity amp. The sound quality is crisp the metals are there and I just can't get over how good the sound.

Pros: Installation is simple with them because they are top mounted and the holes where the screws are open ended so it makes it easier to set the screw then go drop though speaker into it.

Cons: The only con that I really see is the speaker grill is a pain to put back on, it's the metal mesh that has to drop back into the plastic ring, if you snag a corner or miss a track it starts folding the mesh ends and becomes a real pain.

Fit with modifications. I had to slot the plastic speaker housing in both doors so it could be slightly moved toward engine bay to get these to fit with the door panel cover. Also the tweeter holes had to be slightly enlarged. Were almost to small for sail panel holes. Had to adjust an tighten down the clips as small as they would go to hold these in place. I DID NOT USE FACTORY HARNESS for any speakers, i ran all new wires. Sounds great, no complaints.

I chose these speakers based off of the website matching them to fit my vehicle. The door speakers are fine but the tweeters do not fit. I had hoped I could simply return them for some that would but I am told I would have to send all 4 back, which means uninstalling the door speakers. After more research, I was informed that they do not have any tweeters that will fit without some sort of modification. They did offer to explain how to try to get them to fit. I already purchased a stereo receiver recently from Crutchfield and was going to purchase two rear speakers. However, now I will make that purchase elsewhere.

Pros: Door speakers sound good

Cons: Tweeters don't fit (supposedly they were supposed to) Not good resolution to my problem Website was misleading as to compatibility with vehicle.

I drive a 2006 Tundra it's now 2020. I purchased it 7 or 8 years ago with only 11k miles. Everything was on point with the truck except for my sound system. I tought it sounded decent but my wife said it was horrible. She hated my truck for this reason alone. I always said nah it sounds good it's a jbl system baby. I finally bought some pioneer TS-D65C for my front doors. When I removed the speaker the whole cone was missing and pieces were deteriorating in my hands. It was horrible. I have a 2006 Toyota Corolla S and yes the speakers do sound amazing, But I was disappointed and annoyed with the fact of how the tweeters went in, I could not use the stock mount or the one that came with them and I had to cut the plug off the old tweeters and splice them with the wires given, and with the door speakers, the bracket given to fit in place of the old one does not fit the speaker properly, it was like a balancing act trying to get it to stay still as I put the screws in to attempt to hold the speaker firmly,I would still recommend these speakers just be aware you may have some modifications you have to do.

Pros: Sounds amazing with after market head unit

Cons: Tweeters had to be modified to fit Door speaker bracket would not accept the actual speaker

Verified employee review (What's this?)

I purchased these speakers to replace the OEM front door speakers in my 2003 Saturn Vue. The adapter rings that Crutchfield included made the installation fairly easy although for my installation I had to trim the adapter a bit to get everything to fit properly. I have appreciated Pioneer automobile speakers for years because I have come to anticipate great performance from them. These speakers are no exception. They are very clear. They have well-balanced highs and lows. They are free from any distortion... although I do not listen to loud pounding music. The speakers produce impressive bass within their physical range. In order to hear the lowest tones in an orchestra for example, a larger 10 or 12 inch bass speaker is still helpful. But I highly recommend these speakers. These speakers are yet another excellent product of Pioneer.

Pros: Clear, well-balanced sound between high's and low's, no distortion. Installation of speakers with the installation adapter from Crutchfield was quick and easy. Installation time was probably not more than an hour and a half including removing and reinstalling the door panels. Vehicle retains its OEM stock look, but the sound significantly exceeds the quality of the OEM equipment.

Cons: I cannot think of any Cons to this product.

I haven't bought Pioneer speakers in probably decades. Pioneer was my go to back when I was a young'en back in the 80's and I cut holes in door cards and rear decks, but not for my component systems. I must admit, 1) I bought these for my wife's car, 2) I was looking for the most affordable speakers with the best low end stats for her application. I wasn't sure how I was going to mount the tweeters, because she has the most basic system without tweeters, but I figured I could work it out. The Crutchfield installation guide for the Honda Civic was huge, due to the many models and various stereo choices, but when I paired it down, the front speaker installation was super easy (the rear speakers is another story entirely, without the instructions just forget it), plus the free accessories are a huge plus. Installation was a breeze, as was finding a home for the tweeters (see pic). All this was kind of expected from a Crutchfield purchase, what I did expect was the sound upgrade from these moderately priced speaker, with no external crossover, by the way. Mind you, this is not sub-quality bass, but the bass is noticeable and more than enough to keep my from adding a sub. The addition of tweeters at ear level, just opens up the highs. Of course if you saw the literal quarter sized magnets on the OEM speakers, you'd understand why she asked for an upgrade. Well, this is way better than expected for sure.

Pros: Affordable, easy install, great sound, no external crossover

Good fit as replacement for factory components in front door and pillar of 2011 Silverado Crew Cab. Sound great and seem very well made.

Pros: Sound. Price. Stability.

Cons: Had to modify my factory tweeter mount but it was expected.

Installed these a few weeks ago with hopes of big improvements over factory speakers. Mine has the 9 speaker shaker system. I was very disappointed in the range of sound, amount of bass and loudness. Because I was looking for more bass than factory I also had installed speaker baffles. Big mistake. Thought I was going to have to buy an amp but decided to try removing baffles first. What an amazing change. They are now clear with lower freq. response, much more volume and now has that seat shaking bass i was looking for. And this is with the factory amp! Also switched out the mids with a pair of 2-ways. Amazing the change it has made. Want another pair for the rear deck now. Highly recommend for 2015-17 Mustang. Also be sure to install some 1/2" door striping insulation around the front frame so you don't have a gap from speaker to door panel...

If I felt like taking them out of my door, I would return them. My stock speakers sounded better to me. These sound pretty washed out and high. It's hard to explain it. Perhaps I'll get a decent amp and see if that makes any difference, because the one I bought to go along with these (soundstream stealth) was a complete dud. For now I'm stuck with them, and they are okay for what they are.

Sounds great, the highs, mids and the bass are amazing. The stock speakers in 2007 civic si sound good when I first got the car. The only reason why I replaced all of my speakers is because my back left speaker blow out. After listening to these new speakers, I should have bought new speakers a long time ago. Installing new speaker was easy.

Massive improvement over Honda factory speakers

Added this to the front door panels of my 2014 Honda CR-V. A massive improvement over the factory speakers. Much clearer separation of notes at both the high and low ends. A very good investment in my future driving pleasure. Well-recommended!!

Pros: Great sound quality. Solid Pioneer products. The complimentary speaker mount and Honda-compatible wiring hook-up were a perfect fit for the CR-V system. Installation was relatively easy if you have the tools and interest/aptitude.

Cons: The installation instructions covered the basics, but I took wrong turns on a couple of the installation steps and had to back track. Cutting the holes for the tweeter in the plastic door panel could be a challenge for some, but it worked OK for me (mark circle with pencil using the tweeter mount as a template; drill small holes around the circle perimeter; cut between the holes with a Stanley knife; file the resulting hole to a neat circle).

Excellent level frequency response

Upgrade from 2016 Ford Mustang base stereo speakers. Huge improvement! I used to have to turn the treble and mid almost all the way down and the bass all the way up just so the stock speakers wouldn't sound so shrill. These speakers sound great with no equalization, but even better with the bass turned up a bit. I'm powering them currently with the stock head unit and I plan on additional BG an amp, but it still sounds great with these in the front and rear.

Pros: Level frequency response Excellent bass

Cons: Wish there was a matching coaxial pair with this frequency capabilities

speakers and tweeters fit, sound great, only replaced front speakers and still have the stock back speakers, have to turn the fade way to the back to get a good balance, will differently be getting another pair for the rear

Pros: nice base, nice highs, fits in factory location for speaker and tweeter, easy install once i figured out how to install the first door

Cons: as for the speakers, none so far, for crutchfields instructions on installation for my cars make year and model, their instructions showed for the woofer i just had to unscrew the factory woofers, well my woofers were built into the pod so i tear the old woofer apart, cut the plastics holding it in, make my own holes and get speaker tape and hope that the woofer would fit in the pod, witch it luckily did, only reason why i didnt give it 5 starts

2014 GLK350 Great replacement for stock front speakers. The stock speakers could pump out a lot of bass but were severely lacking in the midrange. These fixed that problem. Clear sound, good from bass to treble. Very impressed and a huge improvement. For anyone out there with a merc, the component tweeters will fit in the spot where the stock are without trouble. If you take them out of all the housing they come packaged in, they will be slightly smaller than the stock tweeters. I used one wrap of foam tape (the type you'd use for a house door/window seal) and they fit perfect.

Pros: Great sound Nice bass Clear midrange and highs

Cons: The only criticism I have is the tabs on the speakers for connecting the wires are a little flimsy.

I still have the factory head unit, but awesome sound and fit perfectly into my 2017 RAV4. The sound was extremely immersive, completely enveloping you in a sound field thanks to "Open & Smooth" concept. Nuances like fret noise, bass slap or snare and kickdrum attack are extremely lifelike and transparent. These have taunt & tight bass response and crisp highs. I can feel that these speakers has the same quality as Focal speakers, but for 1/4 of the price! I'm highly impressed. I installed tweeter to a "factory location". The tweeters are extremely compact and feature a unique swivel mechanism that allows precise aiming of high frequencies. This kit includes a tri-position mounting kit provides the flexibility to mount the tweeter using a variety of methods; flush mount, surface mount or bracket mount, especially important for concealing the tweeter behind an original equipment tweeter grille in the vehicle dash or door. The tabs have multiple holes/slots to match your factory dash speaker mounting hole spacing when you install these tweeters in their place. Pioneer has packed this kit with installation hardware and options and custom speaker mounts! 5 stars to the quality, price and options.
