Great but tweeters are lacking

Honestly the mids, and the woofer are amazing. I will say the tweeters are lacking and I constantly find myself having to turn down my volume because the tweeter can't keep up. Especially on phone calls.

Blown after 2 weeks. Stock speakers outlasted pioneer by a long shot!
Michael from San Diego, CA on 12/7/2024
2018 Subaru Crosstrek
1 speaker blown after only 2 weeks being installed. I don't have any subwoofer as I don't like my bass too heavy, so there wasn't much going to the speaker, no more than I sent to my stock Subaru speakers, yet those junky ones never blew.. But the pioneer did. And I live in Iceland so getting a replacement would cost me a fortune. I'm so irritated.
Pros: Good sound, while it lasts.
Cons: Doesn't last.

Nice upgrade to replace stock speakers

2016 Ford F-150 XLT
These fit perfect in my 2016 ford f-150 XLT 5.0L super crew cab front door panels using the metra 82-5606 speaker mounting brackets and the metra 72-5602 speaker wiring harness. Made the whole process plug and play perfect fit even down to the bracket matching the screw hole on the door. Bracket had precut holes for the wire harness to feed through. Best part was Crutchfield provided the bracket and harness free with speaker purchase. As for the component tweeters I was able to mount directly to the front pillars inside the screen where the old tweeters sit using the optional mounting bracket provided in the speaker box. You will have to snap off the overextended piece of the bracket and use the shorter part of it to screw it in the existing holes. Metra 72-5603 harness will snap right into the truck connectors for the tweeter. You just have to crimp the speaker side of the harness to the bass blocker end of the speaker wire. Hope this helps the next do it yourselfer..! These speakers sound great!! still using the stock radio with the small 4" screen. A more powerful stereo with an equalizer would make them sound even better and louder, but Definitely sounds impressively better than the stock speakers won't be disappointed.
Pros: Sound is crisp with a nice bass tone
Cons: Non at this point

Replaced factory front door speakers with these. I have these active as band pass, and did not use the tweets. Powered by JL XD600, and they really sound great. Have incredible mid bass, and can hit pretty hard. Very clear. Mounting brackets supplied by Crutchfield worked great. Sound deadened door with Dynamat, and that seemed to help.
Pros: Easy install. Sounds great and handle the power well. Mid-bass galore
Cons: None so far.

Great replacement speakers
Ken from Camden, NC on 5/20/2023
2002 Dodge Ram 2500
These speakers are a great replacement for my Infinity Speakers installed at the factory on my 2002 Ram 2500. They sound great! For the install, Crutchfield kinda leaves you on a cold windy corner with no ride; however, the install is pretty hassle-free. Included are some pics (may not be in order) of how I did it. Enjoy the ride!!! 1. Remove old speakers per Crutchfield instructions. 2. Pry cover off- !!!careful!!! Old plastic 3. Remove two T25 torx screws, two wires to speaker, and amp from speaker. 4. Hot glue (DO NOT drip glue on the speaker suspensions!!!) the amp to the speaker magnet. Be sure to put some between the amp and the magnet. You can wraparound tie-wrap around it if you are the paranoid type, but the amp goes on top, so it should be good with glue. 5. Cut the tabs and pins off of the vehicle's plastic mounting ring. Careful!!! Old plastic. 6. Replace the sealing gasket on the mounting ring. 7. Re-tape the fir tree wire mount (old tape) and mount wire harness to side of mounting ring. 8. Install speaker assembly into the door with four screws (they will hold the ring and speaker together in lieu of the previously removed tabs) and reconnect the harness plugs. Viola!
Pros: Easy to install and sound great
Cons: Zero directions to install, but it is easy.

Smooth Sound and Easy Install

2022 Chevrolet Colorado
Was looking for an upgrade of my factory system in my 2022 Colorado WT. These speakers sound fantastic with a solid low end and very smooth highs. The in-line crossover made this one of the easiest component speaker installs I have ever done. As always, purchasing from crutchfield was the way to go. The included install gear is a must have and would have cost me another $30-$40 if I would have purchased from another vendor.
Pros: Easy Install

Very good speakers. Full Range Sound
John from Westwood, NJ on 9/23/2022
2015 Toyota Tacoma
Took a calculated risk when I decided on these. I was hedging my bets. Some reviewers seemed pleased with these speakers using them without a subwoofer. That appealed to me. Plus from past experience, I knew that the most expensive speaker isn't always the one that sounds best. Ultimately I went with these because it seemed like they were engineered to deliver the full audio spectrum and not with the assumption that a subwoofer would be present. I am glad it chose these. They sounded great in the brief time I had them installed with my stock head unit. Pairing them with the Sony XAV-AX7000 high powered h/u only made them sound better. I ultimately did add a sub, just because I saved money buying these and because I figured I would let these handle the mids and highs.
Pros: Full range, not overly bright. Simple crossover setup.
Cons: Speaker wires are very thing gauge. You would think that speakers designed to handle so much power would utilize a thinker gauge.

Good speakers and tweeter. A upgrade for my stock sounds from a 2009 Lexus RX350. Good enough base on the 6x9 and crispy clear sound from the tweeter using my stock head unit. I'm sure an amp will make these speaker even better with a sub. But I didnt want to get a sub and shake up the neighborhood. Now i like the sounds in the car. Before i was disappointed from the stock speaker.
Pros: An upgrade to the stock speakers The 6x9 was plug and play.
Cons: Had to cut off stock tweeter wire connecters to connect it to the new tweeters.

2004 Toyota 4Runner
I originally purchased the Pioneer TS-A692C component set for my 2004 Toyota 4Runner, after the stock tweeter finally gave out. I was very disappointed to say the least. The tweeter was extremely bright and the woofer had very little bass. I only installed the passenger side so I could compare to the stock speakers on the drivers side, and the stock speakers sounded much better. So I returned those and purchased the Pioneer TS-D69C set instead. These are night and day better than the TS-A692C components. The tweeter is very clear, but not harsh at all, and the woofer has a good amount of bass. (Which I'm not too concerned with, as I have 2 JL Audio W3 12s in the rear. Back to the new component set, they are being powered by an aftermarket Pioneer double din, touch screen head unit. 2 things I would suggest/recommend if you are going to buy the set thru Crutchfield, 1st you have to drill out a hole in the mounting bracket they supply for the tweeter. Not the easiest thing to do, especially if you do not have the right tools. You can purchase tweeter mounting brackets specifically made for Toyota, with a 2 inch opening for $14 bucks on Amazon. That's the route I went with and made the tweeter install extremely easy. Next, Crutchfield includes wiring harness adapters for the woofers in this package, but there is absolutely no need for them, as all of the wiring you need to connect the tweeter to the woofer is provided in the box from Pioneer. I'm including 3 pictures of my setup
Pros: Very clear sound Warm tweeter Decent bass from woofer Easy to install, if you purchase tweeter mounting brackets elsewhere that already have the hold cutout
Cons: None so far, spend the extra $30 bucks and buy these over the Pioneer TS-A692C component set. There is a night and day difference.

Personally well worth spending 169.99 for this set, work great with my FJ Cruiser and sounds fantastic. Do recommend getting sound dampening material, is it will vibrate all the plastic in the door! That is how amazing these speakers are! (Small splicing for the tweeters)

Cons: New a quick connect for the tweeters

Great upgrade for 2020 Ram 1500 Classic

2020 Ram 1500 Classic
A fantastic component set for the money. My first attempt to upgrade the speakers in my 2020 Ram 1500 Classic single cab was with a higher priced 2 way alpine speaker, which were adequate, but these were much better AND less expensive. Why only 4 stars? That's only because the sound went from fantastic to unbelievable when I added a small amp (Alpine A32F) to the system. WOW! The pairing with the amp just took this set to another level. Perfect for someone like me who's not looking to shake the neighborhood but who loves quality sound at high volume without distorting. I'm so happy with my sound now!
Pros: Sound and price
Cons: None

What an awesome tweeter. Smooth as you would expect from a soft dome. It produces a very warm sound with lots of depth and I would argue that it has more depth than the Z Series tweeter but not as loud. The mid woofer has good mid bass, a bit too punchy at times though. This review is early so I may update this after speaker break-in.
Pros: Good depth and separation with the tweeter. In-line crossover so less installation issues.
Cons: None yet

Best Value That I've Found!
Steven from The Republic of Texas on 5/3/2020
2014 Nissan Titan SV
I installed these in a 2014 Nissan Titan. Thankfully, Nissan chose to go with 6"x9" component speakers in the front, so it is possible to get a significantly better result, with regards to bass response, than most pickups, even if you choose to not go with a subwoofer. I installed a Pioneer 10" under my driver's side rear seat, so the point is probably moot, but it does allow me to run my sub and associated amplifier at just above the 1/2 mark. Other than aftermarket bass-blockers for my dash-mount tweeters, I did a straight-up install, utilizing a 400 watt pioneer 4-chan amp. I ran straight from the speaker wires in the doors to my amp and back to the 6"x9"s, then up to the dash mount tweeters. The install was very tight, so I removed my front doors and all seats from the truck before starting and that made all the difference. Naturally, what most of us care about is results, so I'll hit that... Previously, I had to turn the factory stereo up to that breaking point (volume at 30) to get an almost acceptable sound. Now, I rarely get anywhere close to that because I get good, clear sound at much lower volumes. I can turn the system up, far louder than "30" now and the volume is fairly close to intolerable but it's not even close to distorting or breaking up. These speakers are a great value and I doubt that you'd be able to get much better, without stepping up to Infinity, Alpine, or similar, much more expensive speakers. Well worth the trivial amount that they cost!
Pros: Great value for your budget! If you spend significant time in your vehicle, you deserve to reward yourself with great sound and these will provide it!
Cons: Haven't really found any cons. You may have to be a bit creative when installing your tweeters, if you're doing a dash installation. I ended up using a hot glue gun to hold them in place and I haven't had any issues, six months later.

Good balanced sound with an easy install.

2017 Ram 1500
Very happy with this purchase! I had just installed the JBL Club speakers in my 2017 Ram 1500 about a year ago. (3.5 dash, 5.25 components front doors, 6x9/3way in rear doors). From day one, the JBL's were way too bright. I had tried to dial down my factory radio highs as much as possible but they still didn't sound good. So after a while I just got tired of the sound and decided to try out these Pioneers. My choice was based on reviews and the fact that they do not have a bulky crossover that needed to be installed. I installed 6x9 driver in the door and the tweeter in the dash. On the ram, the front door and dash speakers are connected together so it worked perfectly. It's was also really nice that Pioneer included the 3.5" dash adapter to install the tweeter. Of course Crutchfield supplied 1 set of factory wire harness adapters which is great. On this specific install though you will need 2 sets. Perhaps Crutchfield can make a note of that and include another set. Overall, the sound quality is very good and balanced. They definitely can use more power to really make them shine and am hoping to install a Rockford 5 channel amp in the spring.
Pros: Quality, Balanced sound, included everything for ease of installation.
Cons: Included wiring could be slightly thicker gauge. Tweeter color is brown.

These fit great on my 2008 4Runner front doors. The in-line crossover made installation easy. I did need to get tweeter mount adapters from a different company to make it work. And you do need to solder/crimp the wiring harness from the stock tweeters. It even came with foam lining for the interface between the 6x9 and the speaker adapter. The speakers seem to have clear highs and mids. The bass is good but it is no 12" woofer. It sounded fine with an aftermarket Pioneer stereo deck alone. I'm sure an amp will make it work better.

These are exceptional speakers first of all, but with limitations if your using sound processor like the JBL MS 8. Due to the passive crossovers (fixed built in) to the speakers, attention to detail must be focused on the "octave" and the "high pass" level, especially on the bass sound. Too much - too muddy and distorted, too less - too thin. Other then the quality of the product, its great especially the tweeters - very silky sound and wide.
