Purchased these to replace factory Bose system. Was a little skeptical at first based on feedback received about the swap out and keeping the factory Bose amp, but ended up being very very pleased with the end result. Crisp highs and punchy lows, although not super deep, they still sound great! I will agree that you lose some overall volume at lower levels, but crank the dial and these rock. Additionally, I did an on the spot comparison of the factory Bose versus these, and these JL's have better overall sound no doubt. I would describe the factory Bose speakers as more "hollow" in sound and hitting a lot of the midrange tones. These JLs shine at the high end and some punchy lows. Pair with an aftermarket sub/amp addition and you've got a solid entry/mid level set up.

Cons: Did lose some volume but that is to be expects with using the factory Bose amp and the difference in ohms.

Speakers replaced the stock rear ones in a 2010 Toyota Highlander. Bass is much cleaner and articulate now. Vocals and instruments are clean with presence. Plenty of volume from the stock head unit.

A little disappointed (Kicker CS-series vs. JL C1-650x)

Disappointed. I bought these speakers hoping to upgrade from my kicker CS series; however, it seems more like a downgrade. Sound quality was pretty great upon installation. These speakers fully lack in bass. I even changed the EQ to super bass and these speakers didn't even perform close to my previous kicker CS series front door speakers. Not to mention, the kicker CS series cost about half the price.
Pros: Sound quality is more vibrant and balanced, Speakers look nice, metal frame to connect to the plastic adapter so the screws don't get loose (I used larger screws than provided).
Cons: Serve lack in bass, upon wiring the manufacturer soldered the wire overlapping the connections; making it nearly impossible to get the clips on. In addition, the connections where bent inward so you have to bend them back just to put the clips on.

I had high hopes reading all the reviews for these speakers, both here on Crutchfield and elsewhere. Sadly, these JLs were a major disappointment. Indeed, they have very crisp, clear highs and decent, albeit quieter, mids. Absolutely no bass. I'm not talking subwoofer bass -- that's what subs are for. I mean they are missing a whole range of frequencies the factory stock speakers in my 2018 Honda CRV have. I installed the front driver side first just as a tester and played a variety of music from classical, jazz, hard rock, ambient, electronic, etc. The $15 stock speakers (yes, I found straight replacements for $15 ea) had MUCH better range, depth, volume and balance. I thought for sure I did something wrong with the install, so I uninstalled and reinstalled the JL ensuring all connections were tight and everything was in its right place. Same results. I genuinely thought I was going crazy -- how could this be? So I toggled between just the front R/L speakers (stock and JL). Night and day difference. The stock speaker was warm, rich and balanced in comparison. For fun, I messed with the 3-band EQ: even with the bass all the way up, the treble at -3, the JL had less bass response than the stock. Despite being advertised as sensitive enough for stock speaker replacement, my hunch is these JLs need added power + an EQ. Even then, I don't think it's worth the hassle. Maybe they work in other systems but they certainly do NOT work well in a 2018 Honda CRV.

I'm not even sure how to rate these speakers, i dont like how they sound but they dont sound bad, the sound is very clean and clear but they are very thin. Low and high frequencies are non existent at normal volume but speakers seem to come to life if you crank up the volume. I expected a fuller sound for the money. I have them connected to a Alpine CDA-7897 without an external amp. I did everything i can to adjust the EQ but no matter what, the sound is very lacking on low and high frequencies. I think these speakers are designed to be complemented by an external sub. I got 4 of them for front and rear and os too much hassle to take them off, otherwise I would return them. And in case you are wondering,,, although these speakers sound cleaner, factory speakers had a deeper sound

I'm impressed with the sound quality of these C1 speakers! All though the listing for my vehicle said they were an exact fit and replacement. Yes, there was truth in that but I had to make some adjustments and drill holes into my speaker housing to make fitment other than that easy breezy install when you're someone with experience installing speakers like myself, would recommend the speakers to anybody who is trying to get in the entry level Soundsystem. Just let it be known for those who Owen these vehicles Chevy blazers, S10, Oldsmobile bravada's and GMC Jimmy's 1995 through 2004 there has to be adjustments to your original speaker housing.
Pros: Sound system with perfect rich notes, not to over bearing and perfect for different genres of music
Cons: Fitment and adjustment for vehicle listing wasn't 100% accurate you will need to make modifications to original speaker housing and drill holes. Also tabs on the speakers to hook up the wiring they have to be bent back a tad bit just to fit the wiring on.

These were installed into my 2014 Fusion to replace front door speakers, which had tears in the paper woofer. I gave for stars because before my oem speakers blown had way more bass than these. These do have some bass but nothing like my oem. Which is very shocking. But it's still a good upgrade. I noticed I can't turn my radio up over 20 the speakers just can't handle the stock radio I know shocking. No big deal sub coming soon to make up the difference. Very easy install Crutchfield makes it literally fool proof. You won't mess up. Shipping was fast. Crutchfield gets 5 stars. Now if they last that shall be determined. But the 1 year warranty gives me some peace of mind.
Pros: More crisp clean sound than oem. Seem to be built with good materials.
Cons: Need a little more bass. I feel like my stock 2014 fusion front door speakers shouldn't have had more deep bass than these JLs, not a deal breaker

Having used JL Audio subs, amps, and tweeters in my Ram pickup, and other cars I've had; I figured I would give these a try cause I blew my front door speaker. I'm TOTALLY MIND BLOWN, THESE ARE AMAZING!! Being installed in a completely stock car with the factory premium audio system; the highs are crisp and the lows are enjoyable for there size. I honestly wish I would have installed these sooner. I listen to a wide range of music from Country, Trance, Hip Hop, Metal, Oldies, 70's-90's... You get the idea. I love them so much I ordered a set for the rear deck. Can't wait to install them. Crutchfield comes through again!!

Great sound with just a Kenwood excelon DPX794BH radio with no additional amp. Installed very easily into my 1999 Nissan Frontier front doors, the bolt holes were in the same exact place as the stock speakers so no extra work or adaptors required for that vehicle (Just cut off a tiny plastic tab on the oem speaker mount).

Easy to install in my 2003 Honda Pilot, Rear Passenger doors. All Wiring and adapters fit on first try Sound Quality, Bass, Treble, Audio great. Works very will with the Factory Deck. Not Under powered! If I had to do this over again, I would go with the Component JL's. I have those in the front doors, and they Really help separate the audio out Much better! Can hear the singer and the highs much clearer. What is Great about this speaker, are the tweeter audio signal is NOT distorted by the Bass. The signals are separated out well.

Great Bass for Size, Good for Factory Head, Good Value

These speakers have amazing bass for the size. When cranked, I do not mind not having a subwoofer because these crank sufficiant bass. These speakers are said to be good for using the factory head unit. In installed these JL Audio C1-650x in the front doors of my sedan. In the rear doors I installed Focal RCX-165. I would say the Focals made a bigger difference. The Focal tweeters have a wide dispersion and lifted the sound up to my earns and throughout the cabin in a way the JL's didn't. The Focals also have a nice open and clear sound. On the flip side, the Focals have much better bass. I think the Focals alone probably would not have enough bass. Combining the two different brands together worked well for me. So if considering those two brands, I've differentiated them. The metal dome tweeter of the JL's are a particular sound quality that drives the sound. The JL's rock. A soft dome tweeter to me is a nicer sound for precise high hats and the very top end. I enthusiastically recommend these. If using a good amp, consider upgrading the the JL model one step up, if money is available. Otherwise, the C1-650x may be the best speaker value available to use with a factory head for overall sound that includes bass.
Pros: -Outstanding bass for this size speaker. -Is known to be a good speaker for using the original factory head unit. -Fairly priced. Fair value.
Cons: -Personal preference, a soft dome tweeter sounds nicer to me instead of the metal dome tweater. -Not as clear and open as the other brand I installed in the rear.

Bought these and a set of JBL gto 6.5" speakers to compare and while the jbls we're a bit sheaper these do sound clearer and give a wider range of sound. The bass is ok, but I'm pretty sure my truck clips all the bass away, so if you have a DSP or something these will sound even better for you. Definitely recommend

2016 Subaru Crosstrek
I got these for rear doors along with the matching component set (C1-650) for the front door & dash tweeters. These replaced the stock speakers in a 2016 Subaru Crosstrek. Because the stock woofers were terrible (the stock dash tweeters were OK), my kids in the rear seats always complained that the sound was quiet and muffled in the back seats when things were already getting loud in the front. We used the stock head unit's built-in function to change the balance to bias the rear speakers to "solve" this issue, resulting in muffled sound for the whole cabin at the same volume. Upgrading to the C1-650x for the rear doors solved the issue for real and we were able to change the car's speaker setup to have balance the sound to the center of the car again. Additionally, these things pump out a surprisingly good amount of tight-sounding bass. I installed them with fast rings to ensure a good seal around the speakers for the good bass performance. The only thing I wished was that Crutchfield would have a bracket for the rear doors for my car (they have brackets for the fronts). I ended up modifying the GM/Honda brackets supplied in the same box as the JL Audio speakers so I could mount them to my Subaru by drilling just 2 holes in more level locations in the door instead of 4 holes in awkward locations.

Great for upgrading your trucks rear door speakers if you are keeping the factory head unit! I paired these with the JL Audio C1-690x in the front doors. This is in a 2015 Chevy Silverado Double Cab with the 8 inch radio. These things really do have a better frequency range then the stock and really brings the stock radio to life! Thanks to the team at Crutchfield for recommending these and the the C1-650's as well!

Great sounding speakers for the price. I installed these in my 2017 Ford Explorer rear doors and was very impressed. I installed a set of c1-690 components in the front doors as well, but noticed a more dramatic change from the rear doors. I installed them with the supplied adapter as well as a silicone drip guard for added protection and vibration resistance.

I just installed these in my 2019 Silverado RST w/ Bose system. I wanted to replace the rear door speakers since they sounded terrible when faded 100% to the rear. The the JL C1's delivered good highs and clarity but there is no bass at all which doesn't mattersince the factory Bose sub sounds pretty decent in the back anyway. It took about 2.5 hours including the dynamat around the speaker bracket. The hardest part was putting the door panel back on. It was much easier with the window down. The Instructions from Crutchfield may the entire process so much easier.
Pros: highs, clarity, price, plug and play with supplied harness
Cons: No bass w/ factory Bose amp. Supplied mounting brackets had a gap between the door. Dynamat fixed that issue.

Incredible 6.5" set up. Replaced rear door speakers in a double cab Sierra. Added the missing highs the factory paper speakers lost and added some bass to boot. Non amp application was a selling point snd it came with the adapters and wire harness quick connects. I did the dynamat surrounds with it. Range and quality are incredible.
Pros: Plug and play, incredible quality construction, looks darn good inside the grills.
Cons: Wish the tweeters were able to be directed but that's really being picky.

Great quality build and decent sound. Hooking these to the factory system didn't increase the audio experience and did loose some bass response. Speakers produce better highs and mids but I'm sure with an amp or more powerful head unit these would sound better. Fit was great as Crutchfield does make sure you get all the right parts for install.

2022 Subaru Outback Wilderness Front- JL Audio C1-690 Rear- JL Audio C1- 650x This was a great upgrade for my wife's car. Install was super easy thanks to all the adapters and brackets supplied from crutchfield. I installed the components in the front. Woofer in the door and tweeters in the dash to replace the stock tweeters. In the rear I installed the 6.5" speaker. At first I was hesitant to get this set of speakers from being on the forums all I read were Focals are the best fr this car. But after talking to a rep and discussing what our genre of music is he suggested I go with the C1's and I'm glad I did these speakers without an amp blew me away with how clear and crisp they are. At first my wife didn't understand why I kept the radio off when we were in the car till I only installed the left side first and showed her the difference and when she heard she said OMG that's a big difference. I'm still on the fence about wanting to amp them later since we have very young boys we don't play the music too loud any ways but I'm curious how much better the sound will be with the kicker key's build in DSP. So if you're on the fence about these running off a stock head unit. All I can say is if I had to buy these again I would!

Very nice little speakers! I do not yet have an amp, but with the power they do get, I'm satisfied. Some of the instruments in music sound like they're in my car - it's wonderful. Looking forward to getting another set! Only had one problem installing. The wires don't have a lot of clearance...The original notch for them was at the 6 o'clock position, but the new speakers, if lined up to the same screw holes, had them closer to 5 o'clock. I seemed there was just enough of a space left, but then I was getting occasional brief little static noises on bumpier roads. It was an easy enough fix though. I just had to widen the space for the wires a bit more.

I was very happy with the new C1 6.5" speakers. The door did need very minor modifications. Replacing both front speakers took maybe 20 minutes. If your car needs a wiring harness make sure to inquire. It make your life so much easier.

I bought these for a 2019 WRX and installed them in the rear doors. For my install, I put sound deadening all over the doors both inside the door shell and also on the sheet metal that the plastic trim covers. I also put sound deadening on the inside of the plastic trim panels as well. The trick with the sound deadening was to cover up any holes (there are 2 big ones on my specific vehicle) to create an enclosure for the speaker. I also put foam directly behind the speaker, foam/gasket on the bracket and back of the speaker, and the foam ring on front of the speaker. These are being powered by an aftermarket head unit--no external amplifier yet. Between these new speakers and making sure that the install was done correctly the sound improvement is immense. Everything sounds cleaner and more clear. Some people complained about the bass, but mine are putting out clean bass and I am not disappointed at all. I think doing the install right is more important than the speaker in a lot of ways but these are clearly high quality for an entry level offering from JL. I already upgraded the dash speakers with the 2.75 inch Kickers, so my plan is to put the same JL co-axials in the front doors to match the rear. Any WRX owner with the base speaker system who does anything similar should be content. The harness Crutchfield provided was not plug & play. I ended up soldering into the existing wires and using the other end of the adapter to plug into the speaker directly.

Really happy with the output of these coaxial speakers. For their size (6.5 in) they pack a punch, and have deep lows and sharp highs. Quality build, I like the fact they don't include the grilles - they'd end up in the trash anyway 9/10 times.. JL Audio never disappoints and always deliver quality audio equipment, and thanks to Crutchfield it's now a reality!

Replaced my 1999 Dodge Ram 1500 Club Cab rear factory speakers with these. The Crutchfield fit database said these wouldn't fit and recommended the JL Audio C1-525x speakers. For the rear corners of a 1999 Dodge Ram 1500 Club Cab the C1-525x speakers are both too small and have a mounting depth that exceeds the maximum mounting depth of 2" in that location. The C1-650x speakers ARE the correct size and also come with a very handy universal mounting ring. I contacted Crutchfield to update their fit database but never heard back. I incurred a return shipping fee on the C1-525x speakers despite informing them that their database was incorrect and I ordered that size based on their recommendation. Now that I have the correct size, I must say, the C1-650x speakers sound great and perform fantastic when driven by the optional JL Audio JD400/4 amplifier although the speakers would do well with just a basic receiver built-in amplifier.
Pros: Fantastic speakers for the price. An excellent upgrade over stock. The included universal mounting rings are such a great addition to this set.
Cons: These were not recommend by Crutchfield as a fit for my vehicle, when in fact they do fit. I wasted time and money ordering the wrong Crutchfield recommend size for my vehicle before getting these.

Sounds decent with oem amp power but would sound better with an aftermarket amp. The mounting bracket sent to me didn't work. The bracket did fit the rear door of my car but the speaker could not be mounted to the bracket. Contacted tech support and they told me that according to their information that bracket is the correct one. I had to go to my local electronics store to buy the correct brackets and wiring harness (Crutchfield couldn't send me the harness due to backorder issues).

ALRIGHT YALL! I do not do reviews. Thats how impressed I am with these. So I have a 2019 Hyundai Elantra and the stock speakers are awful. I went to get them upgraded and was quoted $1800. I am not 18 anymore and have no desire for my car to bump down the road. I just want my music to sound good lol. THANK GOD one of my friend told me about Crutchfield. I chose to put the C1-650 in my front doors and the C1-650x in the back. Crutchfield hooked me up with the harnesses, mounts, and recommended a couple other tools I might need. They were cheaper than I could find online so I bought that stuff too. Glad I did-the swap took me about 15 minutes per door, saved me over $1500, and they sound AMAZING. I am so grateful! Thank you Crutchfield for being the best at what you do. You have a customer for life. If youre on the fence about whether or not these are for you-they are! BUY THEM.

Simple install in my rear doors on my 2020 F150. When I called in, my knowledgeable advisor told me that the adapter that came with these would make the speaker to high. I was willing to make my own mounting bracket. On my truck that wasn't the case. Everything bolted in with ease.

I installed these in the rear doors after installing the C1 component set up front, running all of them off a JL JD400/4.....WOW! The C1 series speakers are an awesome set. Installed in a 2019 Tacoma Sport double cab. Crutchfield fit guide says these won't fit in the rear doors of the double cab, but that's wrong. They fit with no issues using the Metra speaker mounts.

2012 Honda Accord
These are a great upgrade from the factory speakers. The install is pretty straight forward when installed using the adapter rings and harness. The sound is clear and crisp, but with a RMS of 50w the factory head unit doesn't do them justice. I plan to amplify them with a minimum of 45w x4 RMS soon. Great value for the price so far! Mounted in the doors of a 2012 Honda Accord LX

2019 Nissan 370Z
I installed the jl audio speakers (6.5" ) in a 2019 370z, and they sound amazing. The best word to describe them would be clarity. You can hear every instrument and understand the vocals. Not a heavy bass sound. The install went smoothly although I used the jl audio brackets, not the schoche. They were thicker and fit the 370z opening better. A fine looking speaker and appears well made.

This was one of the easiest speaker installs I've done. The hardest part was putting the trim panel back on... not the speakers' fault. A few hints if you're putting these in a back of a bug: - The rubber surrounds from the factory speakers are reusable on these because there is a little lip between the edge of the speaker frame and the foam. That likely isn't true for all speaker brands. - The factory screws are reusable...no special modifications or drilling required. - Crutchfield included FREE wiring adapters. Without them, you may have to install them upside down because the stock connector is on top and on the outside, while the new connection is on the bottom, behind the mounting surface. The trim panel covers the logo, anyway. - To put the trim panel back on, you must be an octopus. Put the three metal clips along the top edge on the car, NOT on the panel itself. Drop/shove the panel into place by looking through the glass from the outside. Hold the top edge in place while lifting the seat cushion up and hinging the backrest forward and back with your third and fourth arms, respectively. With your remaining appendages, kick the panel back into place by simultaneously striking the panel exactly on the strategically located plastic pins you broke half of when you removed the panel. It may be helpful to learn some German profanity before beginning this project. The speakers sound noticeably different than stock. Better, yes, but not cra

It's cool that the speakers are coaxial...the crossover circuit is attached, so that's easier and less expensive than component setups. The yellow matches the car, but it's hard to see in this install. If your grills are relatively transparent, these look cool and they have a JL logo on the tweeter. Cons: The connections bend too easily. These have an intense, exaggerated high frequency response. It'll tune out with some tweaking, but with the EQ flat, they're all sizzle and mids. Great sound quality, fantastic highs and pretty good mids. These speakers sound great at almost any volume. The one qualm that I have with these though is that the bass is almost completely missing. JL did a good job with these but they are also a little bit pricey for the lack of bass. I have 4 of them in my car and once I add a subwoofer I think these will knock it out of the park!

2007 Chevrolet Tahoe
These speakers sound great when paired with my Kenwood DDX5706s. They came with everything i needed. The Metra harness and the Scoshe speaker bracket were include. I did have to buy my own bolts to mount the speakers to the speaker brackets though. All in all it was a really good upgrade for my 2007 Tahoe.
Pros: Speakers sound so much better than stock. Bass is decent at considering that I don't have the factory Bose system.

2006 GMC Sierra 2500/3500
These speakers really sound great! I have not spent this much on door speakers before, so I was in uncharted waters. I was not disappointed. They fit great in the front doors and rear doors of my 2006 GMC Sierra 2500HD Duramax despite the wrong advise I was given. I was told these would not fit in the rear door of my crew cab because of clearance issues. I have no idea what they were looking at, there is still over an inch of space between the tweeter and the factory Bose grill.

Such a difference over Subaru Legacy factory default speakers

2016 Subaru Legacy
Installed a pair of these in the rear doors of a 2016 Subaru Legacy. This model of Legacy did not have any factory audio upgrades, so only the bare minimum components were in the car (all six of the factory Subaru speakers weighed less than one of these JL units!). I did not do anything other than change the speakers but the result is astonishing. We left the factory wiring and head unit unmodified. I did add some foam pads to the door panels directly behind the speakers' drivers on each door as a countermeasure to distortion. After adding the C1-690 component 6x9 speakers in the front doors (the tweeters went into the dashboard corner speaker positions), the sound is so much more full. It is brighter and the bass is now richer. This mod-upgrade achieved exactly what I wanted to do - which was to improve the system sound without changing the factory infotainment head or spending a ton of money on amps and modifications to the car itself. My son and I did the work, and it was fun. We had a devil of a time getting the Subaru wiring harnesses in the door panels to unplug, which had to be the worst part of the whole installation.
Pros: Mac at Crutchfield helped me to craft a solution that met my objectives, and we did it all via a chat window. Mac was very professional and knowledgeable - thanks! These JL units specialize in working well to improve under-powered factory head units.
Cons: The Metra mounting rings took a while to understand. It seemed they did not supply all the hardware we needed to attach the speakers, but we figured it out eventually.

2016 Honda Civic LX
I got this for my 2016 Honda Civic LX-P Coupe to replace the 5" screen. I also got the ready harness and the thing that makes the backup camera work. when I received everything in the mail and opened it all up, it was a bit daunting to say the least. However, after the 2 or so hours this took me to install (with the help of extremely knowledgable Crutchfield guys over the phone), I can truly say ANYONE can do this install. Just take your time and you'll get it. I've only had it installed for a day but so far i love it. It's very simple and straightforward which is all I was looking for.
