Upgrade over factory speakers

Speakers and adapter boxes fit perfectly and sound was definately an upgrade over factory speakers. Replaced front door speakers in a 2019 f250 crew cab.

Front door speakers.

These speakers easily fit in my 2004 Lexus SC430. All I had to do to retrofit them was to put some 1/8 inch spacers behind the speaker mounts to push him out a little bit and a fit perfectly.

Sound great

I just finished installing theses speakers in my 2017 F150 front doors. The stock speakers were blown. I can tell you that they sound great. Compared to original equipment. I would recommend them.

Bad quality

Almost 15 months after purchase and I still one of the speakers is distorting (scratchy) and sometimes does not play any sound at all. Non amplified stockish setup. Bad quality product.

Good sound, expected something better for the price personally

Got them to replace my current rear speakers cause one started rattling, this a good replace, nothing crazy, the screws were too long for my car so I had to buy some at Home Depot, but overall installation isn't bad

Great improvement over factory

Better clarity with less distortion compared to my factory speakers. I did loose a little bass though. My 2020 f150 has tweeters in the pillars and a center speaker so now I have too much highs. The component version won't mount into the pillars so I went with the 2 way. If I decide to change my factory radio then I can adjust them better but overall very satisfied. I'm sure with an amp they will shine. If you listen to rock or country they are fantastic. For hip hop without an amp or subs it may not be for you. I listen to all of it

Personally I'd buy these C1's over the newer C2's

Great speakers for the money. I was hesitant on aluminum domes being to "bright", but these were perfect! Not top brigh, but crisp and detailed and also very respectful low frequency response for 6x9s Also.. I did purchase the These C1 6x9s.. and C2 6.5 for the back and can tell you, the c2s (twice the price) were very dull! C2s have a soft dome..(which is typically warmer which I like) but the c2 had no highs what's so ever in my opinion. Also the frequency response doesn't go as low as the c1s. Anyways..sound is subjective... just my take. Go with the c1 over the c2

Installed these in the front doors of my 2015 Outback Premium (no HK). They sounded great when I originally had them hooked up to the stock stereo. They sounded better when I upgraded my head unit. Now, they sound amazing when I connected them to a Rockford Fosgate R2-200X2.

Must Upgrade Factory Speakers

Needed an easy install using factory stereo in my 2007 Lexus RX400H SUV so I logged in to Crutchfield for help. After going through the listing of speakers compatible with my vehicle, I settled on these speakers. Using their instructions the install was fairly easy. The sound from these speakers is amazing, they had much better highs and bass then the factory speakers. I could not believe the amount of bass these speakers produced, for the music I listen to Jazz, 70s and 80s rock, R&B, I no longed need a subwoofer. I highly recommend these speakers from JL Audio. Note: I wish that Crutchfield sold a 5 1|4 speaker from JL Audio that would fit the rear of my Lexus SUV.

FANTASTIC UPGRADE

Installed in front doors of f150 lariat supercrew. I love them they sound amazing out of the box and just get better as they break in. Install was a breeze with the install gear crutchfield provided. They are powered by an aftermarket kenwood dmx-809s head unit also purchased at crutchfield and JL C-1 650 (crutchfield research wrong on these speakers fitting a 2018 f150 supercrew rear door they fit perfectly no fab). Anyway I highly recommend these speakers AMAZING!

Sounds very nice

Running off a 2021 Chevy Colorado non Bose stock head unit. They sound great. Would sound even better with an amp. I am getting great mid base and highs from them. Have a Rockford Fosgate PS8 for the lows which also sounds great.

After purchasing a 2016 Toyota Camry (non-JBL), I wanted to replace the garbage system that Toyota puts in their vehicles. I went with these in the rear deck with JL C1 components in the front. After listening to both these and the JL C1 3-way version at the Charlottesville store car audio room, I felt these had more bass. My aim was to build a system without needing to get an amp and sub. These power well off of the Sony XAV3200 head unit and sound so much better than the factory ones. They have tight, clean bass. After listening to them installed I don't see a need for the sub and amp, but alas I'm old. The screws that came with them were so long they wouldn't fit in the factory hole once mounted to the bracket, had to swap them out for some smaller ones I found in my toolbox.

Best in price range

2023 Gmc Sierra 13 inch screen non Bose. I tested out a few different 6x9's before choosing to keep these. These speakers had the best overall quality sound. Smooth highs, clean mids, and tight bass. Keep in mind I am powering them with a factory radio.

JL Audio 6x9 Powerhouse Speakers

Usually when I've replaced just a speaker component in the past, the result is noticeable but not huge. NOT the case with these! After tinkering with car and home audio for over 30 years, these 6x9s have blown my mind. Installed in the stock doors of an old dodge ram, they were a huge upgrade over what was in there, and the bass response reminds me of the old 4 way pioneers of yesteryear hooked up to the punch45. Very impressive. I look forward to installing the 6.5s next and hearing that result before upgrading the head unit. Very nice JL Audio and crutchfield!

Worth the Premium

I decided to spend extra and get this for my front speakers. My 2023 WRX has paper speakers that needed to go. I chose these because I'm on the fence about adding an amp. These speakers are worth every cent. If I ever add an amp, I will be covered!

They arent the best.

These are definitely not what I was hoping for from JL. They don't have the bass you would think. And the highs are mediocre at best. Spend the extra money on some better speakers. My kickers hit harder and sounded clearer for less money.

JL Audio Is Amazing!

Pretty amazing speakers! I have a Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk and I replaced the poor quality factory speakers with an upgraded aftermarket set - all six speakers and they sounded much better (I also added an aftermarket amplifier from Crutchfield) . Then I heard the C1-690x speakers in a demo and knew they were different, so that's when I started to research them. In my vehicle I have a factory CD player and I've upgraded all of my music to 16 bit/1411BR/44.1kHz and the speakers became more important because I want to hear every detail of that music. I've now replaced all six speakers - 4 C1 6x9's and 2 C2 31/2" (JL C2-350x) speakers and they are exactly what I was looking for - they sound great! I also added Retromat liner in each speaker cavity to make the most of the sound. Crutchfield provided installation information as well as free harness adapters which made the whole process easier. It worked out perfectly.

These things sound a little weak when volume is down, but sound amazing when you turn them up! Paired with my alpine 4 channel amp, they scream! They aren't meant to listen to at low volumes, so turn up the beats!

Huge improvement from the OEM door speakers in my 2008 FJ (using a previously installed Sony xav-ax5500 headunit). Perfect fit and quick installation using the suggested mounting bases and wiring harness adapter. Much deeper and tighter bass, and crystal clear highs, though upgraded dash speakers are really needed as well to round out the sound and soundstage.

They sound great on most songs but a handful of other songs I noticed my driver side speaker has developed some coil rub. Sending these back for some component speakers. JL Audio makes outstanding stuff so dont let that change your mind. There are lemons in everything.

Worth It!

They sound great and gave an overall sound improvement and look so much better than stock. The mid bass improved and was impressive to hear. I gave them a 4 star only because I'm not sure if they can take an amplifier powering them. When I listen to them 3/4 volume up they sound maxed out. I bought them to eventually add a small amp to go with a pair of 10tw3-d4 that I'm still waiting on availability. I would still recommend the 6x9 as they sound amazing non the less

Super sweet factory HU speaker upgrade

Haven't even given these a chance to break-in yet, but thus far I'm blown away how good they sound. It'll only get better with some time. These are installed in the front doors of my 2022 Subaru Outback Premium. For the $$$, you'll be hard pressed to get a better sounding speaker. JL has been at this for quite some time, they know what they're doing. Super happy with the speakers & Crutchfield pricing and super fast delivery. Many thanks to all! Edit: This is all using the factory Subaru HU, and Subaru/Kicker dash tweeters. I've got a set of Focal RCX-165 speakers on the way for the rear doors. These should all make for a very nice sounding system for years to come.

Great Product and sound for the money!

2015 Chevy Silverado Double Cab, factory radio. These speakers are it!! If you are just going to keep the stock head unit (mine is the GM 8 inch) This is a serious upgrade from the plastic/paper cones that come stock with your truck. These things thump and are crystal clear!! The instructions that were sent were spot on for helping out with the removal and reinstallation of the panels. I will say that with these and the rear doors, you will definitely need dynamat placed in-between the adapters and the door.

Best speakers in this price range

By far the BEST speakers in this price range. I've had JBL club and Infinity reference speakers. And these JL Audio speakers are my favorite. Crystal clear vocals well made with enough RMS power handling for an amp if you decide to add one later on. I installed these in the rear deck of my 2011 Toyota Camry and I put the component version in the front door and dash with a adapters.

My 2022 Silverado RST 6.2L with 8 inch screen non Bose stock radio is mediocre at best. Especially after replacing stock muffler with a flowmaster super 40 . After a little research I went with these J L Audio "C" series replacing all of the factory junk. C1-100ct front dash C1 690x front doors C1-650x rear door . Started with rear doors and was surprised at how low the sound output was. Apparently that's the norm for these stock head units. After some back and forth decided to install the remaining speakers. Then I could hear the substantial difference that I was expecting. Just doing this swap will put a smile on your face. Now, about half volume is reasonable loud . Definitely worth the money. As always , Crutchfield customer service makes everything easy. Hope this is helpful.

These added the missing highs from the paper factory speakers and added a bit more bass to boot. I did the dynamat speaker surrounds with them and overall it's not even comparable to the factory. I'm running the stock head unit in a 17 Sierra and it's more than enough power. These are built for non amp applications and they weren't lying.

JL for life

JL is hands down the best you can get for your money. Been using JL audio for over 30 years and I can honestly say that I will never buy anything else. On the occasions when I bought other brands over the years I was always a little let down and I am sad to say it has taken 30 years to lemy lesson , only to use JL audio in all future applications. I bought these for my son knowing that they were the entry level line, but knowing how good JL is I did expect them to sound good and by our surprise they sounded amazing!! Only off a Alpine head unit powering them! very very good speakers very accurate clean sound and good bass response. Highly recommend!

Clear mid-range

I bought the JL Audio C1-690x speakers to replace stock speakers in a Tacoma, and I am very happy with the purchase. I didn't want to replace the head unit or add amps, so I went with the coaxial option to ensure there would be enough power. The system already has a dedicated tweeter, (which i also upgraded) so I chose the two way Ci-690x which had more mid range and bass. These speakers aren't as sharp or "tinny" on the high ends as most 3 ways, which is perfect since the dedicated tweeters in the system cover the highs. The mid range and bass are clear and sound great, although being a coaxial speaker without an amp, the bass definitely does not "boom". If you are looking for booming bass, get an amp and a subwoofer. If you have a system with a dedicated tweeter and don't want to go the amp route and want to clean up your midrange, I highly recommend you consider these as an option.

Awesome, awesome speakers. I've have always had systems of different brands but this time I wanted something for my newest vehicle and I had been doing a lot of research and have looked up many others before deciding to finally pull the trigger on JLs. I have always known about them and have always wanted JLs but kind of didn't want to ever spend the money on them, boy am I glad I did. Even on my 2019 Grand Caravan GTs stock unit/amp or whatever that type of system setup they have...they sound great not even broken in. They blow away the stock Infinity's. Albeit they aren't as loud because the system is 2ohm and these are 4ohm, the trade off is still well worth it. My next purchase will be the Pioneer 5500NEX and the MX280/4 to power these bad boys and I'm excited to hear it when all hooked up. Also, these are stated that they do not fit into any location in a 2019 Grand Caravan GT...They do with a very tiny tight squeeze, but screwing them in pushes it right through that with no modification necessary. Front Doors...check, Rear Side Panels...check. I also have the C1 1" Tweeters I hooked up at the same time that I'll be reviewing on here as well. I'll be back to update my review after they are broken in and with the new amps installed. I bought an 8w3v3 for my stock sub location that I havent hooked up yet but will be reviewing that too when its in. Thanks for reading!
