I've not heard better 3½'s, ever

I'm not saying these are the best sounding 3½" speakers you can buy. But they're certainly the very best I've ever heard, and I've heard a LOT! Finding a good sounding speaker in this size was pretty much an effort in futility until these came along. And they drop right into the dash of a Mazda CX-9, so bonus!

Clarity unmatched at this price point

I mean, if you want top tier without breaking the bank, these should be your goto. Not to bright unless you EQ the tweeters, no distortion mids unless you tweak the EQ. Perfect out of the box solution that can be a drop in if your vehicle supports the size. Whether you are new to car audio or an old school bass head like me, you can always find appreciation of this brandname in the audio market. Never disappoints! I mean, I'll break out the hacksaw before I get a different brand!

Good for some.

Sound is good. most of the time. it doesn't like certain high notes and distorts pretty bad at medium-hi volume. probably not gonna keep them in my car for long tho.

Must have upgrade in VB WRX

Just installed a pair of these in the front dash corners of a 2023 WRX with base audio system. All I can say is WOW, what a huge improvement over the stock 1" fabric dome tweeters. I am using a Kicker passive inline crossovers rated at 6 db/ octave at 280 hz to keep things clean from distortion and running off the factory head unit in parallel (factory 2 ohm setup) with kicker kss269 6x9 woofers in the doors. These speakers add about 3 - 4 octaves of music to your dash soundstage, and the results are dramatic. The quality of the vocals, and detail of instruments absolutely bury the stock tweeters. Also having just woofers in the doors helps to not confuse the front soundstage on the dash. The lower sensitivity of these dash speakers also helps them blend in better with the rest of the system so that I can leave the EQ flat without getting nothing but shrill treble from the factory setup. For the money, and ease of installation I haven't found a better solution to the base WRX audio. Now I've just got to decide on how I want to fill in the last couple of octaves.

Installed them in the dash of a 2021 Lexus UX 250h. It was not exactly drop in, but with the included clips/screws, I was able to securely mount them. Once I figured out how to mount the first one, the second one went much quicker. To plug into the factory harness without splicing anything, you'll need the Metra 72-8110 which can be purchased at Crutchfield. I found the factory base six speaker system to be very disappointing. Definitely worth the upgrade. I'm happy with the sound of these for vocals and highs versus the factory speakers. I've already added a Rockford Fosgate P300-10 sub and the upgrades have definitely improved the sound over the factory system.

Speaker is better than my stock location for them

These sound great with just the power from an aftermarket head unit, so around 22 Watts. Plenty of power to keep up with 6.5s and 6x9s at 100 watts per channel, plus a 300 watt sub. Only issue is not really a fault of the speaker, it is just that they sound awesome directed toward the listener, but staged in the stock location I have, they don't perform quite as well, reflecting off the windshield and covered by the heavy speaker grill. Upper door location vehicle should do better. Still sound very good, just not as near perfect as they really are.

Excellent upgrade for my new Lexus

Like all JL Audio speakers these are with their extra cost over the average. If you are going to do the work or pay the cost to install you might as well use these for an excellent upgrade. Put them in my Lexus UX 250h and the whole front soundstage jumped with life and accurate soundstage. Wasn't a perfect fit but also not a difficult one. Highly recommended.

Great for Jeep JT and JL

These were a great replacement for the front dash speakers in my Gladiator. I have the 8.4" screen and Alpine system, which is good, but theses speakers really added clarity and warmth to the sound. I had initially used Kenwood KFC-XC3s, which were an improvement. These, however, were appreciably better. I highly recommend them. Please note, you will have to bend the mounting tabs a bit for proper fit.

OUTSTANDING SOUND AND VALUE!

Exceptional speakers! I purchased these to replace the Alpine front top dash speakers in my 2021 Jeep Wrangler JL with the Alpine "premium" sound system. The difference is dramatic. Not only are the mids and highs louder and cleaner, these two little speakers added a substantial amount of bass to the sound inside the Jeep. In my opinion, these speakers are worth twice what they cost. The are 10 times better than the factory "premium" Alpine speakers. Note, I confirmed with JL and several installers these will fit the top dash of the Jeep Wrangler JL, but you have to modify the mounting tabs or ears. I have attached a photo to show how I accomplished that.

Chevy/Bose system which is terrible is made better , but have not yet changed the headunit so can't properly adjust the sound and these speakers are BRIGHT. The Bose system has 3 channels and the other speakers are Focal and the sound is chaotic and can't be adjusted (Bose). I think they sound decent for the pricepoint

Great sounding speakers! I have them high passed at 1000 Hz, 24 db/oct, and hooked up to 90 watts RMS. I did need to trim the high end between 6.3k and 10k by about 1.5db to tame some sibilance, but other than that, they're great.

These speakers are perfect for OEM radio in Toyota Camry. I tried Infinity Reference REF-3032cfx and JBL Club 322F before it, but both of them produce loud static noise on Toyota Camry. You need extremely easy modification to fit it to Camry. Just remove 2mm of plastic from the dashboard covers.

My existing car stereo has a center channel that is used for music as well as the phone and navigation audio. The old Harmon Kardon speaker was about as bad a speaker I have heard anywhere outside of my alarm clock speaker in my bedroom. These JL products solved that problem admirably. The mids are smooth and natural sounding with the additional tweeter giving us crisp consonants without overpowering the mids which is a tough assignment for a dash mounted speaker pointing up at the windshield. This speaker is matched with Focal speakers in front and rear doors and complement those fine speakers admirably. Wonderful sounding speakers at less than half the price of the Focal center speaker I was going to buy

Blown tweeter

Do not buy!!! Had these installed in prius dash and they were blown within 9 months. Hooked up to the stock head unit. Used stock capacitor to cut bass signal. A few days out of warranty so no luck on getting replacement. No credit toward another purchase.

Good speaker, not so good price.

Decent Sounding Speaker. With some tech. experience you can separate tweeter wiring from woofer and bi-amp for active crossover. This speaker gets 4 stars because of the price. I grudgingly say they are $80 speakers. If this is worth this price, then a shopping cart of groceries should be $1000. The speakers were made cheap deliberately- and should have been priced as such. They are not an exact fit for Lexus dashboard speaker openings- but you can make it work. They definitely sound better than the OEM speakers. Maybe the extra cost is for the great Crutchfield service, which disappointingly difficult to find now-a-days.

Can't beat a silk dome

Probably the first review I've ever left, but necessary after wasting an awful lot on c7s. You just can't beat the reproduction of a silk tweet. No amount of $ imo. These things will hang with those high dollar options. Oh, and 25 watts? They take a full 75 from the xd800 no problem. Buy them!

Upgraded to the "JL-Tweet Super Tweeter" and wasn't impressed. I then read on multiple forums this would work with the Jeep Wrangler JL. Purchased from Crutchfield with the Metra 72-7902 adapter. Amazing improvement on the stock 7" Uconnect system. Cant wait to add an amp and replace the front lower speakers. Get these, no question for a Jeep JL!

Perfect Addition

I purchased these for my 2014 Ford Taurus for the rear deck center location to add something between my 2 6x9 JBL 2 ways. It sounded great and since I had to buy 2, I decided to replace my front center speaker with the other one. I did have to dremel out under side of car's speaker cover but it wasn't bad. They are powered by an amp and sound awesome. Pic is JL vs stock.

They pop and distort a ton unless turned down a ton at head unit. Sound quality is great otherwise once set correctly. Took a ton of modification to the dash of my 2018 ram 2500. With a right angle die grinder and carbide burr. Most people might shy away from the idea of using a pneumatic Grinder inside their vehicle. Worth the $$.

Much better than stock.

This replaced the center speaker in my dash. It's a great upgrade for the mid sound and it is used for making in-car phone calls. I also got the JBL 621F for the door speakers in my Honda Civic Si and putting them all together made an incredible difference. Radio music sounds better.

Great little wonder

This is truly amazing!!!! Unfortunately you have to look for everything under a 2018 ram 1500 if you have a ram 1500 2020 warlock but oh well. This is just the start of all my upgrades but if you're on the fence let me nudge you.... you will not regret buying these.

Perfect for what they are

As stated in some other reviews: No, they don't have bass and no they don't handle much power. But if you're using them for highs like they're intended to be used they're exceptional. Clear uncolored sound. Very neutral. They get surprisingly loud without distortion, too, if you've got bass blockers on them or are on active crossover. I stuffed them in the corners of my 2016 Lexus IS with very minor modification and washers.

Put these speakers in the dash of my 2020 Ram Bighorn and really like how they sound. Very clear. Went with Bass Blockers (600 MHZ) to protect them and not have popping sounds that I had read about). I am not afraid to turn my volume up, now. These two speakers made my system really come alive!

Small and Mightly

I installed these in my 2014 Ram 2500 Crew Cab in the stock dash location as well as 300Hz Bass Blockers. Still using the factory head unit, stock front and rear door speakers. I did however install a JL Audio Single StealthBox running off a JL Audio XD600/1v2 amp. At first, I had the amp turned down so I could hear the 3 1/2" speakers without the sub and the highs are crisp and clear no matter what the volume level(I don't turn my volume higher than 21). Turn up the amp/sub and everything sounds fairly balanced. Granted, if you turn the bass up to much you can tell you need to upgrade the other speakers and add an amp. When adjusting the settings on the head unit, its all about finding the balance for you listening. I listen to Country, Trance, Hip Hop, 80's-2000's Metal, and Oldies. Like I said, balance. Overall I am VERY please with this purchase. I would HIGHLY recommend these speakers to anyone. Matter of fact, might look into a pair for my wifes Nissan Pathfinder.

Had the speakers professionally installed and were great for about a year and now they are distorted. Was happy with quality while they lasted but they can't handle much power. Was a bummer cause I've always used JL subwoofers, wishing these would have had the same longevity.

2014 Dodge Ram with Alpine system. Used these to replace my dash corners, sounds significantly better as the stock speakers didn't have much highs. Not ear piercing at all they're great direct replacements. Go with 600hz bass blockers.

Great choice

I replaced all the speakers, except the front center dash and subwoofer,, with JL Audio's. Used the C2-350x for the front and rear doors. MUCH better sound, clarity and imaging. Very easy to do on a 2017 Ram 1500. Kept the factory head unit. I disconnected the front center dash speaker and left it in place, this was recommended by Crutchfield support, and I agree completely that it improves the stereo imaging.

3.5" dash speakers

Better than stock in a 2010 ram 1500, but if you plan on adding an amp, go with infinity kappa perfect 300M midrange speakers. They are only a bit more and blow away the JL 3.5s. If your looking to just replace the factory speakers non amplified, then they are worth the cost. Stronger bass blockers are a MUST with these. Mine popped severely when turned up.

What an amazing little speaker!

I bought these speakers for my 2015 RAM 1500 crew cab truck. They sound AMAZING!! Obviously, this is a major upgrade to the factory 15w speakers the truck came with! They fit perfectly in the dash, and have an amazing sound to them. I bought these as an "Open Box" item and there was absolutely nothing wrong with them at all. This is a definite "Get what you pay for" item.

Great speakers with bass blockers for Ram

Put these in my 2015 Ram 1500 Crew Cab...def go with the 600hz bass blockers...300hz is wayyyy too low and distortion comes thru...otherwise they sound incredible and are alot louder than the factory dash speakers...def worth the upgrade.

Tiny speaker but big sound. I have always hated 3.5" speakers. The sound has been that great. They were always harsh and no mids until these. These speakers are loud and have a great sound. They changed my opinion of 3.5" speakers.

Great speakers but needs EQing in the RAM pickup...

The stock dash speakers in the 2016 RAM are crossed over at 9KHz with a 2.2uF, and they are 8 ohms. So the stock speakers are just tweeters! Putting these 4 ohm full range speakers in their place will about double the acoustic volume and reproduce all frequencies from about 120Hz on up through 20KHz. I put a 220uF cap on them which crosses them over at about 180Hz to keep the bass from blowing them. These speakers are very efficient and sound very bright bouncing off the windshield. Lucky for me I installed the Helix/Match PP62DSP before the speaker change and had to EQ the top end drastically, especially in the 3K to 10K range, which the PP62DSP does very well. It's a bit complicated even for a pro musician/sound technician like me, but once you use it couple times it gets easier. I'm upgrading the door speakers next and of course will have to re-EQ the system again. I won't quit until it sounds just right! BTW, I wish Crutchfield sold the Match subwoofers. I bought the PP8EQ from eBay and had it shipped all the way from Austria....

Excellent speakers even without an amp

Very happy with these in the dash. Worked very well with a 14 w aftermarket HU. A little on the bright side but not fatiguing. If you are using Bass blockers I think you are better off with 300Hz rather than the recommended 600 Hz. Did not try them without Bass blockers (the built in are 120 Hz I believe). I paired them with the JL 690tx in the doors (those needed an amp/powerpack) and a pioneer 380 BHS and the sound is great

Amazing sound

These speakers are awesome. Researched speakers for a while to replace the crap ones in my truck (14 ram) These speakers are so much more clear and louder than the stock ones it's not funny. To give you an idea of how much better they are. I work evenings and when I get off late at night I like to drive home with the windows down. Well for me to be able to hear the music while driving 70, I have to turn the volume to max which is 38. After replacing my 2 dash speakers with these. I only have to turn the volume to 24. This how much louder and clear they are. I wish I had not waited so long to upgrade these speakers. Now the door speakers are next.

Very good sounding speaker

I ordered these speakers to replace the factory Alpine speakers in the front corners. They cleaned up the sound considerably exposing many more high notes. I can only imagine how good they would sound with some additional power.

Fantastic Sound Quality

I am in love with these speakers. They are a huge improvement over the factory dash speakers I had and these have really helped music come to life in my car. I hear a lot of extra details in songs that I didn't know where there. Vocal harmonies, guitars, cymbals and other cool effects really showcase now.

JL Audio C2-350x

This was a "modifies fit" but it bolted right in with no clearance issues. The sound is crisp and clear, and has fantastic output for such a tiny speaker, It could easily be powered by an amp to give it more punch

Powerful little speaker

I ordered the JL C2-350x to replace the factory dash speakers in my 2013 FJ cruiser based on the fact that there were two other reviews by FJ owners. Crutchfield said that the speakers would not fit my vehicle and they were partially correct. I had to take out the factory speaker and mounting bracket but was able to just attach the new speakers from there. These speakers are great for how little they are and overall are pretty cost effective. I would highly recommend them to someone interested in buying a smaller speaker.

Absolutely amazing upgrade.

I installed these in the dash on my 2016 2500 bighorn. They really cleared up the mids and highs. These along with a 8" JL sub made the sound better then my 15 with the alpine premium sound. Installation. Was a breeze with crutch fields included adapters.
