Good dash kit but need option to mount screen at an angle

Very good fit for Sony AXV-AX4000 head unit and 2008 Honda Odyssey. Install was a breeze. The screen of the head unit was installed flushed against the dash kit, leaving no gap. This made the head unit look very stock, very professional. But there was a down side to the mounting minimal aesthetic : After installing the radio into the car, I found the radio's screen reflected a lot of sun glare. The screen position was not adjustable within the dash kit so I was stuck with the glare. I wish the kit had the option of mounting the screen at an angle to minimize sun glare. ( Doorbells from Google or Amazon have the option to mount flat or at an angle against the wall).

Fits nicely into the big empty space created by removing the factory radio on my 2005 Honda Odyssey. Both side clips broke off, however, when securing to the dash - thankfully the bottom screws seem to hold it in place just fine. Probably need better plastic or some other material on the side clips.

Great! BUT.....

Installation was indeed easy, and the unit looks nice once everything is done. I also had the same issue as others with the right-side mounting lock-down cracking when I tightened the screw. Mine did not completely break, so I just moved on. I'm writing this two years after installation, so I have had plenty of time with it. I have pulled is twice to change wiring issues (for OTHER components) and it hasn't failed to reinstall. My biggest problem with it is the design itself. I believe regardless what brand you purchase they all have the same flaw. It is NOT recessed in the dash at all, and the mounting forces the radio to be directly forward facing. It looks wonderful at night; however, during the day the glare from the passenger window completely floods the screen. I have found that if I lean toward the passenger side a bit, I can see the screen, albeit still not clearly. I have considered attempting to heat the brackets to move them enough to mount the radio at an angle, but haven't yet tried. If the radio was designed to mount at even a slight angle toward the driver, or the unit was made so that the radio was deeper into the compartment, all of this could have been avoided. I wish someone would design one of these with the user (and GLARE) in mind, rather than simply the cheapest way using the least material. It is such a nice radio to NOT be able to see it. Especially the navigation screen! I do love it at night though.....

Great replacement fixture for the original radio. Perfect fit and application. Only suggestion for improvement is for it to come with supplied screws. Had to scrounge around looking for screws that fit and actually tighten up (one of the screws pulled out the threading). Plastic braces seemed a little flimsy but it seems to be holding up well. Thanks again Crutchfield for an easy install!

Everything's included to securely & properly mount your new radio, with the exception of the mounting screws - BUT those should come with your radio! Plastic finish is OK, but doesn't match anything else in my Honda van. Radio mounting & installation is very simple.

While this part isn't what most people notice about our new install, that is exactly the feature we love about it. The fit and finish make it look like it is factory original. No gaps or squeaks and it just slid right in. It took me a minute to realize I dodn't need some of the mounting parts that came with the radio because the dash kit had its' own, but once I realized it had some bonus parts it went together pretty quickly! Really nice kit that certainly looks better than a homemade plywood and sheet metal face I have seen some people use. Very nice quality.

The kit works and installs great. It also looks great. One complaint is that the screw holes are too soft and it is easy to strip out the screws when trying to tighten them down. I had to use a really light touch on the last 3 screws because the first striped out quickly.

This is a very clean looking piece fit well. As with some of the other reviewers one of the screws broke the plastic housing which I used a two part epoxy to repair. I should have spent a little time sifting through my coffee can of screws to fine some that fit a little better.

Stereo for Honda Odyssey '05

This product fit perfectly in my van. The only reason I'm giving this four stars instead of five is that the instructions were not 100% clear regarding the installation of my steering wheel controls. Thankfully, The customer service representatives at Crutchfield were amazing and able to get me squared away. Plenty sturdy, but only held by two screws

Looks great. The original 2006 Honda stereo unit is held in place with three screws, one of which is tucked way under the unit. This panel holds your replacement stereo with only two screws at the bottom front. The top of this panel is therefore not held tight against the top of the dash panel. That's my only complaint. I had some concerns when I first received this that it is made of plastic, but it seems plenty sturdy to hold my new Pioneer head unit.

Great product with a major deficiency

Product could be better but with one major glaring oversight....the screws are the wrong size. I mean there is not a chance in the world that they fit. I was just a little upset that Crutchfield would keep selling it this way. It would only take about $.20 of screws to make it right

It fits.

There were no instructions included. So I had to guess a bit. I think I got it figured out but the screw holds are not predrilled in the plastic and I was not careful about screwing in exactly strait and begun to crack on of the screw holes. Crutchfield offered to replace the unit but I declined. The only other negative comment I have is that there are not only two screws holding the radio unit to the car where the original allowed for three. The old radio was heavier and this does not appear to be an issue with this radio. It appears to be snugly secured with the two screws and plastic clips. The color appears to match well and and there are no visible gaps. It looks fine.

Had to buy different screws because the ones that came with the kit too large. The screws cracked the plastic. Do NOT but this kit unless you want extra work, money spent and stress on the kit breaking.

Dash kit

I'm not entirely happy with this product. Most of the mounting weight of the head unit is secured in the front of the dash kit, and where the screws go into the plastic is weak. It's holding for now, but I'm not sure about how many bumps and hot/cold weather this dash kit will withstand. There is a crude instruction to build your own mounting for supporting the back of the head unit, but no parts are included with this kit. After using this for a little bit, I wish this dash kit could integrate some kind of hood to provide shade to help with visibility. I think something built in, maybe adjustable, would be awesome.

Great fit, looks good, but screw mounts split

Good fit for my '06 Honda, and it was easy to install. Unfortunately, the supplied screws split the mounts. Looks like they will hold, but for how long don't know. Went ahead and used it with the split mounts, only because it was only 10 degrees in my garage and I needed to finish up or freeze to death :). I'll let you know if things start coming apart.

Fits '05 Odyssey Perfectly

Looks great in the dash and fits up with the rest of the dash components perfectly. Used with installation of JVC KW-HDR81BT. Did not use the original screws to mount the radio brackets to the rear of the faceplate as they appeared to stress the plastic and split the mounting holes. Used a slightly smaller stainless steel self taping screw. Also bored a hole in the corner with a drill press through which I mounted the microphone for the hands free calling... looks great.

Honda odyssey double dash kit

I have used the double din and also the single din kit from crutchfield. Both for a 07 odyssey. I will say that this is a solid kit. Looks great. The only thing I did not like is when you screw the side pieces of the mounts of this kit to the face plate you can see the screws stretching the mounting holes. Put screws in very straight and do not over tighten. Still solid piece

I ordered this kit to install a dvd player into my wifes 08 honda odyssey, the fit and finish is perfect. I used the screws supplied with the dvd player to attach the brackets then the supplied screws that came with the dash kit to connect the deck to the dash kit. Can't get any easier.

Honda Odyssey In-dash Receiver Kit

This kit came with screws that did not fit the plastic mount screw holes so I broke the first screw hole immediately creating weakness in the structure. I was able to clamp it together with tiny zip ties to hold, but now the mounting job is weak. I used my own screws in the other three holes. There was also no rear support for the stereo so I had to make my own. The face place fits nicely into the dash and looks pretty good.

Good overall quality of materials, did not fit my receiver very well

Although it's probably my own fault for buying a cheap receiver (not from Crutchfield) this kit blocks the video input and the USB port on my PowerAcoustik receiver. This kit is designed so the receiver mounts from the rear of the bezel. I think it would be better if the receiver slid through the opening from the front. This rear mount method does not look as clean. Also, there is no clip or mount at the top of the kit, so there is a small gap. Also note, Crutchfield customer service is usually worth the extra money.

My head unit was easily attached to this face plate but there is no rear support for it. Also. . .I had to remove my unit for an adjustment and one of the metal clips came off (stayed in the tab in the van) so be careful if you have to remove anything. Looks factory!

Nice Kit

The kit has a higher quality and appearance than some of the older kits. This one looks like part of the Odyssey. One catch, if you are installing a double / full height head unit with this kit, then the Honda rear-mount frame will not work with this kit. So, the entire weight of your head unit will be supported by the front of this frame. If you are not comfortable with this, you should order a rear mount bracket that works with this kit.
