Perfect Fit

I made my original search for a replacement head unit 1 year ago. Crutchfield's response was no replacement options available. I repeated my search a few weeks ago and was pleased to see many options, all made possible by this part. I chose a Jensen 710 double-din and the installation was simple. I am happy with the fit and the finish of this part.

Bad Design

You MUST use the Subaru factory radio/CD mounting brackets when installing the Kenwood DNR876S. That is not a problem if you are replacing the OEM equipment. I, however, am replacing a single DIN aftermarket Pioneer unit with the Scosche dash kit for that unit that I also got from Crutchfield. With that dash kit the factory mounts are not needed. So not needing them they got tossed. I'm now waiting for the mounting brackets from Subaru (There are only 6 sets in the entire US), and driving around with a big hole in my dash. NOT HAPPPY!

Overall pleased.

The kit fits the dash well and the color is very close. There is a slight gap above the radio and the hazard switch doesn't fit as nicely as in the stock panel; the left side of the switch sticks out more than the right. The heater controls fit perfectly. It is a litttle tough to get the heat control cable disconnected and reconnected, but that is not the kit's fault. Overall, I like this install kit.

Crutchfield was awesome in every category from ordering to actual product to assistants in installing. I strongly suggest having them pre wire any of your audio for vehicles, the little bit is f money you pay is well worth it

I was replacing an aftermarket stereo, and unfortunately for this item to work, you need the brackets from the original stereo. No option at all for a different type if you dont have the brackets. Useless.

Double DIN Faceplate

Surprisingly it fits perfectly no need for trimming or any modifications just attached my navigation and boom it fits perfectly, had Crutchfield recommendation of installation kits and bought all they required for installation.

Perfect Fit

Impressed with the color match and fit. All the right adapters were included. Used this with the Pioneer FH-X820BS. The main challenge I faced was getting the original mounting bracket back on because this frame doesn't come with one. It does have a built in bracket for the A/C and the hazard button. Once I figured it out, it fit in beautifully. Now I'm just kicking myself for not doing this YEARS ago.

Easy install with one issue

I want to start by saying that I am not an installer and this is only my second installation ever (first was 07 Legacy using Metra kit). This went in fairly easily and looks good. In my other installation the Metra kit didn't hold the HU solidly and it sags in the dash. This one is much more secure as it uses the original metal brackets from the factory install. My one issue is probably caused by my lack of experience, but could have been prevented with slightly better instructions. There are 2 little knobs on the back of the kit to attach the cubby for DIN installations. I was installing a double DIN so I removed the cubby, but the knobs prevented the HU from sitting properly in the opening. I sawed the knobs off and it fit much better but still wasn't quite right. I eventually realized that there was a removable trim piece on my HU. After I took this off, everything fit perfectly and I realized I never needed to cut the nobs off in the first place. Again, I'm sure anybody with experience would have realized to do this immediately, but I did not. Overall this is much better than the Metra Kit.

This is a piece of cake once you have all the other steps of radio removal and installation completed. Looks original and color match is on the money. Snaps in place then replace the 6 factory screws to hold everything solidly in place.

Color match was spot on, although i did end up vinyl wrapping it anyways. It is fairly sturdy and so far has survived being removed a dozen or so times. it also give my HU a nearly factory fit look. The only downside to it is, the slightly curved face of it can be a dead giveaway to your HU as the corners of the HU tend to stick out a bit from the face of the kit. Other than that, it fits the dash perfectly and also snaps over the climate controls and HU with a perfect fit.

No Problem

Worked great, practically perfect color-match. Looks OEM. What's not to like? It's also easier to pull on and off than the stock unit, so if you -- like me -- had to make an adjustment to the install afterwards, it's less of a headache to get back behind the unit.

This is a very easy and great looking installation. I am a professional Automotive Technician and have installed my share of steros over the past thirty plus years and this works great and look good. It will work with single dinn steros also even though Crutchfield told me it would not. I used it with a double-dinn and it was straight forward.

I'm really not sure on how to review this product because I spent this much, thinking that it would be much more sturdy than the cheaper product above. The color matches well but seems very thin and not very sturdy. Debating if I should have saved the money and gone with the cheaper one. I have a lot of left over screws that could have been used to make this product more secure.

This receiver kit fits perfectly into my Subaru. After installation you would think it is from the factory. This is the only answer to replacing my factory installed radio. It was far more difficult to get the old face plate off than to put this one in.
