As a Crutchfield advisor I was eager to test this sound bar out in my own home after experiencing it during a work demo with Sennheiser. It absolutely does not disappoint! The sound output of this rivaled my traditional 7.2 channel home theater setup. You get all of the clean dialogue, all of the surround effects, and all of the immersion in whatever you are watching. Having the ability to plug in my own powered subwoofer was super convenient! You literally can set this up in 5 minutes right out of the box. The Sennheiser app is easy to use and makes controlling the sound bar a breeze. This is an absolute solid solution for great sound if you don't have space for a traditional wired setup with a home theater receiver. If you are on the fence about this sound bar, go ahead and take that step over and get it!

AMBEO Plus beats Sonos Arc

This Sennheiser AMBEO Plus beat out the Sonos Arc. The sound is amazing, dialog and detail are superb plus I can use my existing subwoofer and it comes with a remote. The price was $300 less than the Arc/sub package so it was a no brainer for me. The only down side is that you can't hook up surround speakers but the output of the AMBEO kind of makes up for that. I had a 5.1 system that was real good but I wanted to de-clutter and simplify and the AMBEO did not disappoint. The folks at Crutchfield were very helpful as usual.

Sennheiser AMBEO Soundbar | Plus

Pretty impressive sound bar. Setup was easy, with the app taking care of everything. Immediately downloaded an update when setting up so you've got the latest firmware. This bar will put you in the center of the soundstage for movies and TV, along with music whether it's traditional 2 channel or multi-channel Dolby Atmos music. You might not hear sounds specifically bouncing off of the walls around you, but the immersive feeling you get of being right in the middle of the sound is fantastic. It has plenty of volume to keep up with larger rooms, but is accurate enough to be run at lower volumes while still getting clear dialogue. It has plenty of bass on its own, but has the ability to wirelessly add up to 4(!!) subwoofers from Sennheiser. The reason I gave it a 4 star rating is because of some handshaking issues I had with my TV. Full disclosure, I was using an older TV that might play a part in this. Other than that I was very happy with the sound bar and subwoofer combination and would recommend giving it a try to folks who have enjoyed Sennheiser products in the past.

Awesome soundbar!

This is my first ever soundbar that is replacing my 21-year-old home theater system due to my Denon AVR going to receiver heaven. Wanting to incorporate my Klipsch SW10 II subwoofer narrowed the field as well as needing more than one HDMI port. Width, height, and depth were all considerations due to the tv, table, and entertainment centers current configuration. The AMBEO Plus, after several days of research on the Crutchfield website, met those requirements. Delivery was on time, product was boxed beautifully, and setup was easy and smooth. Download of app was simple and very easy to navigate and understand. I downloaded the user manual from Sennheiser for later reference. Listening to the news programs is so much better! Voices are clean and words are clearly discernable. Played a DVD, Saving Private Ryan, to listen to AMBEO's ability to reproduce the subtle sound of the flag flapping in the opening sequence as well as the waves crashing on the beach. I could hear the subtle whirr of the landing craft engine that I don't recall hearing on my old home theater sound system with 6 speakers. Yeah, I'm very pleased with this soundbar and the ambience it provides for watching movies and news. I haven't set it up for music yet because I have always used an old iPod that I would plug in to my receiver. So, I will be learning how to stream, needless to say, but anticipate that the AMBEO Plus will not disappoint. Well done, Sennheiser and thank you Crutchfield reps for info support.

Great sound, flaky app

Review based on 2 days in use, from opening to listening to a news show and playing 2 movies as tests: Top Gun Maverick & Hunt for Red October. Opening: packaging quite strong & all was in order. Quick set up guide is not detailed. Download PDF manual & at glance at relevant pages before starting. Initial install: Connected BluRay player & Roku device to 2 of HDMI inputs. Connected soundbar to TV ARC input. (TV: 2008 Samsung plasma, no eARC). Easily downloaded app, found sound bar, updated firmware, ran room calibration. Tried to listen to sample music sounds from app... first one played & after that lost contact w app. Several attempts to restore app connection failed. Never got to adjustments that can be make only on app. Not a major problem, but an irritation. Thus not 5 stars. Remote control: Works easily to adjust sound level & use when needed, the voice enhancer. Changing from one "source" to another (from TV to DVD player) not so easy. At first I did not think this was working as there was no immediate change. Be patient. Hold the button down. You may think it isn't working. Keep holding it down. Eventually (15-30 seconds?) you will see a blank screen & then the screen for the alternate source. Sound: Quite strong, clear for movies & clear voices on news show. Never had another soundbar so can't compare. Fine bass for my environment. Normal voices, clear. In quiet talk, enhancer was a charm. No rear effect in my room but combat scenes in 2

Avoid sennheiser soundbar

Bought this from Crutchfield, it stopped working. Crutchfield will not support. Sennheiser must have sold off the soundbar business and no support from them either. Avoid this product

Great sound, versatile

I really enjoyed the performance and the versatility of this soundbar. It sounded great, really clear, when we watched movies and when we connected and played music. I did notice that the connectivity to apple seemed to lag a bit, just by a couple seconds when first connecting to play music.

Good but not what I wanted

I tried this sound bar, purchased through Crutchfield based on reviews I researched and past experience with Sennheiser. The sound is excellent and I appreciated the detailed, robust app. which functioned flawlessly. My disappointment was in the level of immersive sound delivered as opposed to what I expected. The Ambeo does deliver a wide sound stage and you can't argue with the sound quality but the Atmos and overall surround was not quite as good as I wanted. I know better than to expect a total theatre quality sound from a single bar but the reviews do seem to hype a little more from this bar and it's large predecessor than I heard, especially at the premium price. I did an exchange (great customer service from Crutchfield by the way) for another bar and couldn't be happier.

The best!

I've tried a lot of soundbars over the last couple of years and have never been fully satisfied. I've had and sold the Samsung HW-Q800B, the Polk MagniFi Max AX, the Sony HT-A5000 and the JBL Bar 1000 and they were all lacking in either the area of bass, voice clarity or lack of any "surround" sound. My space (or rather wife ha ha) doesn't allow for a true surround sound system with rear speakers so I needed something with a simple bar and a subwoofer. I finally decided to bite the bullet and try the Sennheiser AMBEO Plus and it has not disappointed. I paired it with an old Polk 8" Sub I had sitting around and it sounds amazing. Voice clarity is crystal clear (and adjustable) and the Ambeo virtualization is true magic. Does it sound like a completely separate 7.1 surround sound system? Of course not. Does it give you the sense of sound being all around you more than any of the other soundbars; it absolutely does! The Android app is well designed and it provides you more adjustability then the typical consumer soundbar. The only (small) thing I find missing is a display on the front of the soundbar telling you what mode is playing, volume level, input, etc. There are indicators of these functions on the top, but they are not easily visible when sitting on the couch a few feet away.

Sennheiser Ambeo Plus

The Ambeo Plus is great! Hearing things I never had before. And it's quite good for streaming music. With Chromecast built-in, I can play from Qobuz. In fact, I've got it in my living where I also have my stereo set-up, and switching between the two makes me realize I probably need to upgrade my old Paradigm Monitor 11 v.3 speakers. Although the Ambeo has less slightly less bass, it's still there, and the clarity and presence of the Ambeo puts those old speakers to shame. Only set-up issue was that Chromecast kept dropping out, so I rebooted my router and the Ambeo and the problem is solved. Everything now works perfectly and is so fun to play around with. I'd recommend the Ambeo to anyone who doesn't want a lot of speakers in their room, especially as it's on sale.

Best voice improvement!

I purchased this Sennheiser Soundbar Plus to replace my Kilpsch soundbar that died. I am a little hard of hearing and understanding voices in many TV programs. The Sennheiser Soundbar works great with it's voice improvement feature. This bar is super sweet, my wife loves it too! I plan to buy another one soon. I will be receiving there their bass sub today which will only make it that much better. If you want a soundbar that sounds good, is great quality and really helps improve voices, BUY THIS BAR1 We totally love it!

A fabulous product! "Top shelf" all the eay!

I'm so happy with this sound bar! I was using an entry level product that I got from Crutchfield a few years ago. It did everything it was supposed to do. Friends even commented on how good it sounded. This takes everything to a much higher experience. It sounds amazing ! The fact that I can use my stand alone powered subwoofer .. unlike other brands was also a big plus. This sound bar is a fine piece of electronic magic. I fully endorse this Sennheiser like I have never before. If you are "on the fence". got for it!

Almost Great?

I purchased this sound bar to replace a Martin Logan Vision. I love the Martin Logan, but I wanted something that had more modern processing features like Dolby Atmos. I read all of the reviews for the AMBEO Max and was impressed by how "real" the surround effects were said to be. Because the AMBEO Plus is upgraded to 7.1.4, I decided to go with it instead of the Max. I have a subwoofer, so I wasn't concerned that the Max is supposed to have better bass performance. When connecting the bar, it immediately starts updating the software. Once everything was finished, the rest was easy. The App is pretty good. It will calibrate the AMBEO Plus to your specific room. The process only takes about 10 minutes. When calibration is complete, you can choose from several preset listening options. There aren't many manual adjustments, but you can control the level of the subwoofer from the App, even with a wired connection. I was eager to experience the amazing processing I'd read so much about. I watched Top Gun: Maverick, and I was immediately impressed with the way the surround processing works. It does give the impression of overhead and rear speakers actually being there. This was why I purchased the bar, so for that I have to say mission accomplished. The sound quality is not as good as the Martin Logan, and considering the price, that is disappointing. If you are using this for TV and movies, you'll likely enjoy it. For music, I wasn't as impressed.

Impressive Scale and Atmos

This sound bar has an excellent size of scale and superb Atmos reproduction. Without a subwoofer bass is definitely lacking. However is has plenty of flexibility with the SW out to attach an existing sub and needs to be calculated into the overall cost. Set up and calibration was a breeze. Overall the sound is very pleasing for movies, sports, games. Music reproduction is above average. The 2" aluminum full range drivers provide adequate highs and mids without being being overwhelming. I have yet been able to test with the Ambeo Subwoofer. Overall this is very impressive coming from a 3.1.2 system with a Marantz NR1710 and floor standing L/R speakers.

Sounds great! The highs are very crisp but I would definitely add a sub as the bass without one is almost nonexistent. It really is surprising how much sound you can get out of this sytem

Not dolby at all

Not impressed at all !! Crutchfield was awesome dealing with them sent it back can't say enough about how I'm pleased with my experience with them will definitely do business again with them
