Disappointed

Don't believe the hype from this amp. I installed it in my car and it didn't last a year before I had to pull it and send it to service. I got it back and not even 2 months later it started acting up again. I don't have the time to keep trouble shooting it and sending it to service. I'm truly disappointed.

AudioControl D-5.1300

Amplifier is easy to connect and has great features. Construction appears to be solid. Works great and performs well when it works. Remote control is slow to respond and does not respond in a linear manner. If you adjust the volume knob too quickly, it only adjusts the volume a few steps. If you need to quickly adjust the volume, you have to turn the remote knob slowly multiple times to achieve the desired effect. The software is terribly dated, sluggish, and the GUI is a beast to navigate and configure. Everything about the software reminds me 2007. Amplifier lasted about 9 months before failing to consistently turn on. Warranty department was somewhat responsive in the first phase and now I'm being ghosted. No ETA on completed warranty repair, no response from AudioControl/Stinger, and I've been without music in my car for approximately 2 months with no end in sight. Hopefully, this doesn't happen to anyone else. This is my first and will be my last experience with AudioControl. I wouldn't recommend this amplifier or even AudioControl in general.

Exactly what I needed. Focal krx2's come pretty harsh out of the box, this made it easy to fix. The Line output allowed me to hookup a pair of jl audio 12w1v3-4's to another mono jl audio amp that I had lying around. Super easy to use and automatically updated the firmware when I plugged a computer in

Good for music, bad for battery

Although the amplifier sonically was great, it drained my battery overnight. I researched and changed the battery and checked the alternator, and the only remedy was disconnecting the power from the amp. With this process of elimination, it was confirmed that it was the culprit. Many online reviews have arrived at the same conclusion, but it seems to be limited to the amps with built-in DSP.

Best All-in-One 5ch

After trying other 5 channel amps including Rockford, JL this amp is a beast and to top it off the built in DSP is nothing short of amazing. Little learning curve but well worth learning for optimal sound. Just for reference I'm running all Morel virtus and tempo speakers in my 2023 4 runner.

Terrible Amplifiers

Nothing but problems with this amplifier since day one, and I spent so much time trouble-shooting everything except the amplifier, I missed the window to return it to Crutchfield. Problems with the inputs, outputs, USB port, poor bluetooth connectivity, extremely glitchy software, outdated tech, etc. If you Google, you will find the same issues. Look at the Crutchfield reviews for any of AudioControl DSP processors or amplifiers. There is definitely a clear reason why these are not used or recommended by pro tuners, pro installers, pro competitors, audiophiles, or anyone building an SQ system. If I could return it in exchange for store credit towards something else, I would.

AudioControl D-5.1300

Been running almost a year. Zero problems with function. My system sounds clean and strong now with the d.s.p. and factory head unit. My speakers are Kicker KS series components up front, Kicker CS two ways in the rear doors and one sub under rear seat ,JL Audio "stealth box"(10 -w3- 2 ohm). I tried running without a dsp and different amp first but it was a weak combo with factory head unit crippling performance and no way to improve. I could have changed my head unit but...could have added stand alone signal processing or, for a few bucks more :) This made a simple, clean install. The 500w@2ohm sub channel is making my stealth box sound pretty darn good.

Nice Amp

I love this amp. Using the speaker level inputs in a Toyota Tacoma and it sounds great. Takes some tweaking, but that's why you buy a DSP. It's nice having everything in one package that all fits under the driver's seat.

Great, when it behaves

When it works, it's great. Ordered this in February 2023, installed 3 weeks ago. Sub channel keeps cutting in/out, sometimes even 'boosting' itself and clipping the subs. Sure, 5 year warranty on the amp, but is currently on backorder and Crutchfield pushing all of the responsibility onto AudioControl for the defective amp,

AudioControl D-5.1300

I still want to like this amp, but after several months, I still can't. My neighbor has a different brand in his truck ( a lot cheaper ) and his system sounds a lot louder than mine and with audible less distortion. I don't know why I hava to crank up my radio to 28 (being 40 the max) to have decent level and I'm not taking about ear bleeding level of music! On his truck, you only need to raise the volume to 12. That's one thing. On another note, it is the distortion. I use Roon ARC. For those who don't know, it is Roon on-the-go. The best music management software you can find out there and still I hear distortion. I have two more system in my house so I can easily pick it up. Listening to satellite radio is close to be in a punishing sound chamber. That's how distorted every thing sounds. I seriously regret spending north to 2K on this counting cables, harness and everything in between. Next time (if ever) I will go with Alpine. For now, I'm stuck with a bad investment.

Spend the extra and get the d over the LC!

Very pleased with the amp. Very often compared to JL audio, which is also good, but this is a little cheaper and comes with built in DSP. You can also get built in DSP with other brands but they charge a lot more. Audiocontrol has managed to put together a tight, powerful package here. It is I deal for people trying not to consume to much space but need factory integration. I have it running in a jeep gladiator under the front seat. Its running 2 10"s (JL's under seat box), 2 6x9s and a custom 3-way system using coaxial morels, 3 1/2 audiofrogs, and new old school (German) MB quart tweeters. Runs and sounds awesome. The adjustable time delay was a pleasant surprise with how much a difference in sound quality it makes....after setting the delay the music was more clear. What I thought was distortion was actually just not correctly time adjusted sound. The software works well.

Powerful, Capable, Adaptable, Configurable, Insane!

This amp is ridiculous! Powerful, Capable, Adaptable, Configurable, it's just sick! I am using it in my Charger with the factory Alpine system. I replaced the speakers with Kickers and added a sub in the trunk. I can now push the volume all the way up without distortion! It's totally insane!

Great amp! Replaced a JL XD700/5 and this amp has a little bit more kick. Easy to setup, just load software on PC and hook up USB cable. You can tune in real time, TA, EQ and XO's.

Make OEM stereo sound better

What amazing things this 5 channel amp can do. Wanted to upgrade the 2019 Honda Civic 'premium' system with one that was able to integrate easily. However, that was not the case since no manufacture has made that possible as we speak. This all in one DSP/5 channel has made it possible to pull high level signal from the factory amp and integrate into its own DSP for signal correction. As far as integrating the stocks system high level signal, I have not yet noticed any white/static noises and has been clean since. Currently the setup I integrated was a 4 channel active front stage with sub. As far as the rears and center channels go I left them alone with it being powered by the stock factory amp. All in all I'm happy with this purchase. Although the interface could be better on the DSP end, I'm happy to chose this in comparison to all the others in the current market.

Strong but not clean

A good bang for the buck but under built & over rated. If I turn the radio up and AMP down (hiss & background noise). It I turn the radio up some and the smp down. SAME amount of noise. Real amps have built in storage capacity to handle 6db -> 12DB over Max power and never distort. This amp distorts at the 50%?point. NOT THE BEST, NOT THE WORST.

Yes

I was bumping an old faithful and rather inexpensive 5 channel pioneer GM-D9605 and decided to upgrade to the D5.1300. It was totally worth it. I haven't even connected the subs yet and the 4 channels with a basic tune via the dsp is night and day from the Pioneer (duh). Can't wait to get an rta microphone and do a little fine tuning. This amp/dsp is just what the doctor ordered. Install was simplified and saved space since I was able to delete my LC7i and tap the speaker wires directly to the amp. Love it!

Outstanding DSP AMP!

If you are looking at an AudioControl amp you probably already know they make one of the best amps and DSP's on the planet. The D-5.1300 is no exception. Tons (tons!) of clean audiophile power. Best 5 channel amp on the market!!
