Excellent upgrade for the money!
Erik from San Diego, CA on 5/26/2025
1997 Ford E Series
These are listed as direct fit for our E350 based RV, in the front doors, and they sure are. Of course, with butyl surrounds, high quality cones, crossovers and separate tweeters this component set is a huge upgrade from OEM. The speaker fits exactly right as it should. Perfect and simple. The Tweeter is most likely going to be placed on the mirror covers inside each door. Since the E350 has an asymmetrical dashboard, the position you would most normally prefer for the Tweeter unfortunately conflicts with the clip that holds the mirror cover onto the truck. So that means you're going to mount it a little bit lower where it still clears the dash on the left side, and can be matched on the passenger side. I found that the surface mount pods worked the best for me to angle the tweeters almost exactly "straight" up out of the gap between the door and the dash. This means they're about a 45° angle on the x and on the y, looking really clean and sounding great. That also resolves issues with the depth of the Tweeter behind the mirror cover which is not quite as deep as the back of the Tweeter needs to be. With the surface pod, this is no issue at all. I ditched the OEM protector plates that covered the old speakers because the door grill is enough to protect the speaker from impact and you get a cleaner sound. This was a great upgrade and a simple one to do.
Pros: Direct fit, Crutchfield adapter is perfect, Kicker includes every part you need.
Cons: Kicker puts a lot of wire on these things. I mean a lot. If you have a set of crimpers and fittings, you could shorten a lot of wire. Otherwise you will be looming things up and taping them inside the door.

Perfectly crisp sound quality and window shaking bass (if wanted)
Toby from NASHVILLE, TN on 12/16/2024
These speaker boom! I had them installed in my 2014 F-150 with a Kenwood Stereo, and words do not do them justice! Firstly, the sound quality with the Kenwood head unit is terrific. They look exceptionally clean on the interior of the vehicle, and with the bass boost eq turned on, they shake the car at half volume. If you're not a vibrate the mirrors kind of guy, these speakers still are magnificent without bass turned up. The sound splits the air crisply and has no crackling at all. These speakers are definitely worth every penny, and will be buying again from kicker and crutchfield again in the future! Purchase them for sure.
Pros: The speakers themselves are pros. Don't get the amatures, these guys are in a class of their own.
Cons: Not getting them sooner.

Not great quality
Waylon from Cleveland, TN on 8/23/2024
The speakers sound decent with stock power. With an amp, they definitely sound better than stock, but both times they have busted and now rattle. I've warrantied them once just for them to do it again. Go with something else, it's not worth it. I'm certainly not buying or replacing these again.
Pros: Sounds good
Cons: Bust, and rattle

Pretty Good - Tweeters Rock
Michael from Mays Landing, NJ on 3/17/2024
2013 Ford Mustang
I had these professionally installed in the front doors of a 2013 Mustang that didn't have any Shaker system in it. It was just the bare bones factory speakers and head unit. I am running these components through the factory head unit so I added a Kicker 47Key200.4 amplifier with 50x4w/ch. I have a pair of Kicker 46CSC684s in the rear. These are good speakers and have definitely improved the overall sound quality over the factory speakers, and I am able to turn up the volume more without it sounding like total crap. The tweeters absolutely ROCK! They definitely scream, in a good way. However, I am a little disappointed in the bass response though. Its just a starter sound system and my goal was to not have to put a lot of money into it, but still sound good with some punchy bass. I was hoping that 4 new speakers and 4-channel amplifier would be enough but I am still left feeling as though something is missing, which is bass. I believe I am hearing what I am supposed to be, and its satisfactory for what I have installed overall, but I also believe my expectations may have been a bit too high. I am now going to put in a powered subwoofer to round out the back end and then some. If I was to do this all over again, I would completely forego the rear speakers (leave the factory rear speakers alone), add these component speakers to the front doors along with a 60-75 watt 2-channel amplifier, and get a powered subwoofer for the rear bass.
Pros: Tweeters Rock
Cons: Lacks Bass

Travis from CARLETON, MI on 2/24/2024

They have better bass then my stock did, but the main selling point are the tweeters they are very good, at least in comparison as i had none. Overall Im pretty satisfied. I didnt need to buy an amp, even though i was planning on it, and probally still will. However i noticed that at high volume it rattles alot, but it is most likely a defect as
Pros: I think the tweeters are a major improvement considering that i had none before!
Cons: None really, Most the screws dont fit in as a replacement for my original, so it kinda hangs just a tiny bit. But thats my car specifically.

Worst Components Ever
Guest from Henry, VA on 7/3/2022
These are the worst Components I have ever tried. Upgraded my factory speakers in my Crown Vic and the factory speakers absolutely stomp these. Running off new Kenwood headunit and crossed over at 120hz and one is already rattling on first day. Even when crossed over to pick up a little mid bass, there's nothing there. All treble. Also installed a set for a customer and ran them off a kicker cxa 360.4 amp and his factory Ford speakers on the amp totally beat these hands down. Highly disappointed in my purchase. Already taking them back out. If you are looking just for a factory upgrade stick to more original equipment because these are useless no sound quality whatsoever.
Pros: None
Cons: No midbass, cheap construction, poor sound quality.

I installed these in my 2006 MAZDA MX-5 doors. The woofer is a straight up replacement, and the OEM weather shield works with this woofer. The tweeter, I chose to installed in the OEM tweeter holder. I just used a Dremel cutting wheel to remove the holder's clips, then an x-acto knife to enlarge the diameter to fit. Once installed, my sound quality returned. The previous replacement install had a quality 2-way speaker in the lower door location, but that location muted most of what the tweeter should handle. The speaker kit offers optional attaching cups for tweeter locations , and there's more than enough wiring to mount on the windshield pillars if that's where one wants to put their tweeter. The crossover units fit nicely in the door, I just wish these were sealed better to reduce condensation, rain, or car wash water from entering the unit. The option to adjust the tweeter a few decibels is nice but once the door is re-assembled, if the listener wants to change the setting, then what? Most modern head units enable equalizer settings, so this feature isn't really necessary.

Definitely a step up from coaxials or whatever stock speakers you may be using. I found melodic music sounded quite nicely with proper staging and angling of the tweeters. However, it lacks midbass. They did end up tearing but it might have just been my poor quality amp. Recommend if you are looking to upgrade any existing speakers.
Pros: Good Staging
Cons: Poor Midbass and Metal Tweeters hiss a little

To my ear these components didn't sound any better than the stock components in my 2006 Sienna or 2011 Leaf. I got these for a 2007 f150 king ranch that had the upgraded sound system from the factory and i'm not sure how to feel about them. I installed them in the driver door first then shut off the back speakers and switched from side to side to see if i could hear the difference compared to the factory ones and i think the kickers sound a little to high pitched and lack some mid. i believe that i turned the crossover switch to 6db which i regret doing because i think that make be what is causing the high pitched wash. I'm using a sony xav-ax5500 to power then and it puts 25 watts rms to each corner and i think it's works good, when u have the volume at about 40/50 is when the speakers begin to sound washed out and seem to lose the definition and crispness Overall i would i'm not sure if i would put theses in a truck that already has the upgraded sound system from the factory but i will have to keep playing with them and try to tune them to handle the higher volumes without cutting and getting washed out. I'm thinking about putting in a 4 channel amp to get the full power and sound out of them.
Pros: Would be a great upgrade over base model speakers but don't seem to be worth it if you have the upgraded sound system from the factory
Cons: Mounting the crossover to the door took a little extra time and thought but really wasn't that bad. The cross over should always have the switch turned to 0 db to get the most defined sound

Great Upgrade For Taurus Mach Speakers
James from Alamosa, CO on 4/24/2021
2006 Ford Taurus SEL
My wife and I have been driving a 2006 Ford Taurus SEL for a little over a decade now. About 6 or 7 years ago, we switched out the rear speakers for some $50 Pioneers we bought from Crutchfield. I loved how they came with the instructions, because I would have never thought they installed from the inside of the car. The front factory component speakers finally blew out, so it was time to replace them. I decided to give these Kicker component speakers a try, based on reviews of people who had similar amps. The Mach amp in the Taurus puts out 80 watts, or 20 watts per corner. After installing these speakers, the system seemed to come alive. The factory component speakers in the Mach system were too midrangey (is that a word?) for me, and the Kickers are much more smooth. Acoustic guitars and vocals are present without being too harsh. The Kickers also compliment the boomy Pioneers in the back well; I can hear more mid-bass, like the upper registers of the bass guitar and the smack of the kick drum beater hitting the head. I can't wait to hear how they sound when I finally get around to installing Dynamat. Overall, the Kicker 46CSS684s make the Ford factory Mach amp live up to it's potential. The tweeters are smaller than the factory mounting hole, so I made some adapter plates out of the backs of old cell phones with my dremel. The crossovers are installed in the door's armrest, and I think that will be their permanent home when I sound deaden the door with the Dy
Pros: Great upgrade to factory stereo for a good price!
Cons: The wires can be fiddly, but it's worth it.

These speakers helped with the sound quality of my 2004 F-150. It didn't come with factory tweeters so my leg would always block sound coming from the 6x8. These speaker replace some Pioneer 4-way 6x8s. The tweeters fit without any modification. I just had to remove the door panel which wasn't hard. Would definitely recommend these speaker for anyone with a 2004-2008 F150. I also have them running off the Pioneer GM-D1004.

Fantastic sound, fiddly tweeter mount
Crutchfield customer from Hartford, CT on 3/24/2021
I installed these in my 1998 Ford Ranger and they look and sound excellent, making all sorts of musical details (especially mandolin and other string parts) newly audible, even with the factory radio. My truck has manual windows, so there was plenty of room behind the door panel inserts to place the crossovers where I can access them without removing the entire door panel. I don't like drawing visual attention to audio upgrades in my humble truck, so I blacked out the logo and outline on the tweeters to maximize subtlety. The mid-range cones were a simple swap with the factory 6x8s, with foam baffles added for good measure. My minor quibble is that the two supplied depths of plastic ring-nuts for the tweeters were fiddly to install with the angle mounts-- the deep ones were too deep to tighten without bottoming out and the shallow ones were barely long enough to reach. A set of plastic shim washers would allow greater fine tuning and solve that problem. Temporary annoyance aside, the tweeters look great and are securely mounted.
Pros: Great sound, worth every penny
Cons: Angle-mount tweeter hardware could be better.

For the price they are nice. Not something you would incorporate into a competition system but if you are like me, a "brophesional", and you want to upgrade your 2010 F-150 xlt that didnt come with A pillar tweeters then these are great for the money. Adapters for the tweeters make it pretty easy to install them after you figure out where you can put them. I used to have to move my leg inward to get any highs from the door speaker and now its all around me. I am overall very happy with how the final product turned out but if I had to do it over again there is a slightly better version of these from kicker in the $240ish range and I would recommend going with those.

Decent sounding components for the price. Really not many options in 6x8/5x7 components, it's bottom of the barrel or premium. These fill the middle ground well enough. Crossovers seem bare bones and simple but I like that everything is wired so there's no fiddling with screw terminals. You get a few mounting options for the tweeters as well. Not he best I've ever used for mounting hardware there but adequate and enough options to get them somewhere useful.
Pros: Hard wired crossovers and crimped wire terminal connections are a nice touch. Good sound for their price point.

These are a great upgrade from a factory speaker. Much sharper sound. I had to modify my stock brackets for install but deff worth the extra work. I wired them to my double din and can get really good sound with the equalizer.
Pros: Great sound and affordable
Cons: Extra adjustments for fitting

Best Ford (front) upgrade for the money!

2000 Ford F-250 Super Duty
Installed in a 2000 F-250 with tweeters mounted in A-pillars. Created a nice sound stage with clear sound but is going to need an amp to push the mids over my 20 yr old oem's abilities which is to be expected. My only real complaint is the material quality of the set is sub par to the Kicker equipment I installed in previous vehicles from 7-10 years ago. For example supplied runs of wire are SHORT and coating is very stiff and I broke the lid off one crossover sticking it to the door with 3M adhesive tape. I recommend purchasing a short run of speaker wire from Crutchfield with these especially if you plan on getting the tweeters up off the door panel for better staging. I feel like even another foot on each lead would have been sufficient. Overall I'm very happy with them and as long as I get some years out of them the sound quality gives me reassurance that there is still some kick in these Kickers.
Pros: Price Audio clarity Tweeters don't look ridiculous like some.
Cons: Supplied wire length isn't real optimal for a full size pickup. Build quality is a little on the cost cutting side.

The speakers sound good, however my factory speakers sounded about the same. I'm unsure if replacing my speakers actually improved my overall sound. Kind of disappointing to spend $300 on replacing front and rear speakers for sound that is not noticeably different.
Pros: New Speakers.
Cons: Spent $300 on speakers that aren't noticeably different than the factory speakers.

2002 Ford Mustang
Let's begin by saying I have not a single car audio background experience. I worked together with cructchfield staff to fit my 2002 mustang convertible needs. I had an expected budget and expected audio sound. With just a few emails back and forth I was able to have recommended products placed into my cart for me to view at my convince to give me exactly the needs I have in mind. They were spot on and not a single problem arose and installation was a breeze when following provided instructions and by using the website of Crutchfield for further insight. Thanks for making a beginner feel satisfied above and beyond what was expected.
Pros: Works and sounds great and easily adjusted
Cons: None

Impressive for kicker

Haven't been much of a fan of kicker in a very long time. With that said, I received these as a gift. They sounded amazing straight out of the box. I would definitely recommend putting 40-50 watts rms to them to make them sound even better. Also make sure the slope switch is on zero for the tweeter. Especially if you have a small vehicle. They were kind of harsh until I switched them. Lol. I've only had them a few weeks now but they seem to be holding up very well. Properly tuned eq and you won't find many notes they don't like. I do also recommend the foam bass cups to go behind the mid woofer.
Pros: Get loud with an amp. Very crisp sound Easily installed, fit opening perfectly
Cons: Tweeters are a bit harsh on my opinion Lacks just a bit in the mid bass Tweet mounting was a pain
