About the Kicker 46KiSLOC

Buck Pomerantz

High power to line level

Want to amplify a factory system? Kicker's KiSLOC line output converter lets you get your amplifier's input signals from the factory speaker wiring, lowering the amplified speaker-level signals down to the line level the amp needs for its inputs. Gain controls on each channel manage the signal strength so it won't overwhelm your amp's input sensitivity. This converter will work with factory radios with open-circuit protection.

Product highlights:

  • 2-channel line output converter
  • applies 60-ohm load to each channel to circumvent open-circuit protection
  • bare speaker wire inputs
    • accepts up to 55 watts RMS per channel
  • gain control on each channel
  • RCA line outputs up to 8 volts RMS
  • dimensions: 1.63"W, 1"H, 2.250"D
  • warranty: 1 year
  • MFR # 46KISLOC

What's in the box:

Product Research

Features

Overview: The Kicker KISLOC is a 2-channel, passive converter that allows any car stereo to be connected to an amplifier or processor (sold separately). This is accomplished by "de-amplifying" the radio's high-level speaker outputs into low-level signals that can be passed out of the built-in RCA jacks. The KISLOC is designed to be sonically neutral, delivering a flat frequency response of 20Hz - 20kHz with less than 0.01% THD.

Conversion: The KISLOC can accept speaker-level signals up to 55 watts and has an RCA output level that's adjustable up to 8V.

OEM Compatible: The Kicker KISLOC is compatible with most modern OEM "smart" radios that have open-circuit protection. The KISLOC applies a 60Ω load to the speaker input lines, allowing the factory radio to output audio uninterrupted.

Input Wiring: The attached 7" speaker-level input wires connect to the left and right speaker output wires of your car stereo. The Kicker input wires are as follows:

  • White: L+
  • White/Black: L-
  • Grey: R+
  • Grey/Black: R-
  • Brown: Input ground (only needed if engine noise is present)

RCA Outputs: Two female RCA output jacks let you run the low-level output signal to the input of your amplifier or processor.

  • Red: Right output
  • White: Left output

Note: The wiring colors of the KISLOC may be different from the wiring colors found on your car stereo.

Output Level Adjustment: The Kicker 2-channel converter is equipped with output level controls that can be adjusted for proper sound level matching. This done by inserting a small flat-blade screwdriver into the gain adjustment holes, located on top of the KISLOC. By turning clockwise, the gain for that individual channel, or the amount of sound allowed to pass through the KISLOC is increased. By turning counterclockwise, the gain for that individual channels is decreased. If you feel that after increasing the volume of your stereo, the sound is too quiet, then equally increase both the left and right gains of the converter until the sound level is adequate. If the sound level is too loud with only a slight increase in stereo volume, or distortion (poor sound quality) is noticeable, then equally decrease the gains of the converter.

Q
I am looking to convert/tap a pair of stereo TV speaker wires from my Sony XR-65X90K to this LOC and use the RCA outputs to connect to a pair of QSC 10.1 Amplified speakers. I want to maintain Volume control with the TV Remote. TV Speakers are "Full-Range (Bass-Reflex) speakers rated at 10w each. Is this 12v LOC an ideal device for this TV speaker level conversion, or is there a better one for this application and to maintain better sound quality? Thanks
samuel  Jan 16, 2024
1 answer
A
There will be no ideal device intended to be used with your TV speaker-level signal to convert to an amplifier, Sam. This Kicker 46KiSLOC is designed for use in 12-volt mobile sound applications only. We will not be able to guarantee any sound quality when attempting to convert a signal from your TV's built-in speakers to an amplifier. If you choose to attempt this custom work, using the Russound ADP-1.2 speaker-level to line-level adapter in the link below would be the best option as it is designed more for in-home use rather than mobile 12-volt applications. I hope this helps! https://www.crutchfield.com/p_543ADP12/Russound-ADP-1-2-Speaker-level-to-Line-level-Adapter.html

Q
I have a Yamaha RS202 Receiver with a Jamo C 910 subwoofer. Will this work to connect the two?
tom  Dec 26, 2022
1 answer
A
If you wanted to connect your subwoofer to that Yamaha with speaker outputs we would suggest a line output converter suited for home audio which would be the Russound ADP-1.2 which I will link below. You can also use the line level outputs on the back of that receiver to connect to the subwoofer as well. If you wanted to discuss the options a little deeper we have friendly advisors standing by at 800.324.9695 to please give us a call and we can get you taken care of! https://www.crutchfield.com/p_543ADP12/Russound-ADP-1-2-Speaker-level-to-Line-level-Adapter.html

Q
The two holes on top. Is that for gain or frequency?
larry  Aug 29, 2022
1 answer
A
Those are openings for the gain controls. It does not have the ability to limit the frequencies it outputs for the amp

Q
The two holes on top that you can adjust by using a small flathead, is that for gain or frequency?
larry  Aug 29, 2022
1 answer
A
Greetings Larry, and thank you for your question. Those are for input gain control, so you dont overload your amplifiers input sensitivity.

Q
Is KISLOC2 suitable to use as converter from balanced differential signal (two wires per channel, low level - 5V max amplitude) to single ended (for use as input for amplifier)?
benas  Aug 16, 2022
1 answer
A
It's tough to answer your question accurately with the limited info you have provided here Benas, but I'll try! Not knowing what specific vehicle or deeper specs on the install, I'd have to say I personally would not choose this KISLOC2. It sounds like you are working on a more modern ride, and an active LOC might benefit you. Check out this Audiocontrol lc2i pro in the link below. I do not see any reason from the info you provided that the KISLOC2 would not work, but the Audiocontrol offers some more advanced features on connections and tuning because it is an active line out converter, consider it! I hope this helps Benas. https://www.crutchfield.com/p_161LC2IPRO/AudioControl-LC2i-PRO.html

Q
Can hook all the grounds together to a good body ground and just splice the positives to the correct sub wires?
shane  Nov 22, 2021
1 answer
A
This is designed to if needed, output noise to the chassis or body ground and we do not recommend connecting the negative wires to that ground as well.

Q
can you connect this to only 1 speaker by combining both + and - or do you need to attach to 2 separate?
derek  Jun 21, 2021
2 answers
A
In-line just with one
dominic  Jun 22, 2021
A
That doesn't matter. It sends a signal to your amp thru the rca cord, that's it's only function. Once it plugs in the amp you determine how it comes out of your amp output to your speakers. It basically makes it so you don't need an aftermarket head unit. It splices into the speaker wires on the back of your radio.

Q
Does the remote wire need to be hooked up when using kisloc?
willie  Jun 07, 2021
1 answer
A
This device has nothing to do with turning the amp on or off if it is the remote power wire you are referring to.
erik  Jun 08, 2021
Q
Am I understanding correctly that this will work for when your stock oem radio does not have rca out connections?
dennis  May 01, 2021
1 answer
A
You will want to contact an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat to discuss compatibility with your factory system. They will be able to pull up your vehicle and see if this will integrate. If it does not, then they will also be able to discuss other options with you.

Q
Am correct that you just cut the wire running from speaker to head unit in two, splice this in, and then crimp the three together?
eric  Nov 23, 2020
1 answer
A
Yes technically. It's easiest to splice into a rear mounted speaker when you do. Either cut in 2 or strip insulation out of the way then solder. Then plug RCA cables into the amp and this converter and you're good to go

Q
Can I hook up 2 amplifiers with this? I have no class d for subs. And a 2 channel for 6x9 speaker.
james  Apr 19, 2020
1 answer
A
Hi James! To connect multiple amplifiers, you will need to go with a line output converter that can accept those connections. Chat with us online or by phone at 1-800-324-9695. We will be happy to go over your setup, and ensure you go with the best converter for your application.

Q
How well would this work for a 600 watt rms subwoofer? Or would it not work at all resulting in me having to go aftermarket head unit?
werkinprogress  Apr 02, 2020

A
i have a 800 watt rms subwoofer, it works great. it should all work out if wired correctly.
ashley  Apr 02, 2020
A
It works fine as long as your factory speaker, the one your are stealing signal from, isn't pushing more than 60watts. Which usually isn't the case. Just make sure you are buying the correct unit. One of these products does not come with a remote wire. You will need one.

Q
Does this turn on the amp or do I need to run a separate remote turn on switch?
calvin  Sep 21, 2019
2 answers
A
You still have to run the blue remote amp power wire to send signal for it to turn on. Find a near by fuse box, grab a tester and see what slots are keyed power. That's very important. You only want it to turn on when you turn on your key. Once you find it that becomes your amp turn on spot. Blue wire stays connected to that fuse terminal
jesey  Nov 23, 2020
A
This LOC does not provide a turn-on trigger wire. If your amp cannot turn on when it senses a signal coming in, then you will need to pick up the remote trigger elsewhere

Q
Will this work with a 2018 Jeep Wrangler Jl 4 door with the base audio system? I've heard the head unit will stop sending signal if it doesn't detect the right ohm load.
david  Aug 07, 2019
1 answer
A
Hi David, thank you for your question. The Kicker 46KiSLOC is designed to work easily with any OEM stereo that has open-circuit-protection, which is something most stock radios have, these days. You shouldn't have any problem with using this converter with your stock stereo. Feel free to chat with an Advisor online or by phone at 1-800-324-9695 if you need anything!

Q
Can I install two of these for a four channel amp? One on front spkr wires and one on rears?
ben  Jun 30, 2019
2 answers
A
You would need two if you wanted the ability to use the fade adjustment on the head unit but I would just use one and two Y RCA adapters on both outputs to the inputs of the amp. Either way.
anthony  Jul 10, 2019
A
You could, or use a splitter for the audio cables. I would recommended the LC7i 6 channel line out converter. All in one nice unit with controls on it
