About the Kicker 46KISLOC2

Buck Pomerantz

Get signal and turn-on power for your amp

Want to amplify a factory system? Kicker's KISLOC2 line output converter lets you get your amplifier's input signals from the factory speaker wiring, lowering the amplified speaker-level signals down to the line level the amp needs for its inputs. In addition, this little device provides the 12 volts your amp will need for its remote turn-on connection. It generates this voltage using the input signals alone, with no external power source necessary. This converter also has built-in load resistors, so it will work with factory radios with open-circuit protection.

Product highlights:

  • 2-channel line output converter
  • 12-volt DC output for amplifier remote turn-on
  • bare speaker wire inputs
    • accepts up to 55 watts RMS per channel
  • applies 60-ohm load to each channel to circumvent open-circuit protection
  • RCA line outputs up to 8 volts RMS
  • dimensions: 1-5/8"W x 15/16"H x 2-5/8"D
  • warranty: 1 year
  • MFR # 46KISLOC2

What's in the box:

  • Stereo line-output converter (attached 4" bare-ended input wires)

Product Research

Features

Overview: The Kicker KISLOC2 is a 2-channel, passive converter that allows any car stereo to be connected to an amplifier or processor (sold separately). This is accomplished by "de-amplifying" the radio's high-level speaker outputs into low-level signals that can be passed out of the built-in RCA jacks. The KISLOC2 is designed without inductors, allowing it to deliver a flat frequency response of 20Hz - 20kHz at all volume levels.

Conversion: The KISLOC2 can accept speaker-level signals up to 55 watts and has a pair of female RCA jacks that can output an audio signal up to 8V.

OEM Compatible: The Kicker KISLOC2 is compatible with most modern OEM "smart" radios that have open-circuit protection. The KISLOC2 applies a 60Ω load to the speaker input lines, allowing the factory radio to output audio uninterrupted.

Remote Output: The KISLOC2 can provide a 12VDC/100mA remote output signal, for activating outboard amps or processors, from the converted input signal using DC offset. A red LED indicator on the input side of the converter lights when DC offset is active.

Input Wiring: The attached 4" speaker-level input wires connect to the left and right speaker output wires of your car stereo. The Kicker input wires are as follows:

  • White: L+
  • White/Black: L-
  • Grey: R+
  • Grey/Black: R-
  • Black: Input ground
  • Blue: Remote turn-on output

Audio Outputs:

  • Red RCA: Right audio output
  • White RCA: Left audio output

Note: A wire legend is provided on the back of the converter. The KISLOC2 wire colors may be different from the wire colors found on your car stereo.

Q
What gauge are the wires?
jason  Mar 15, 2024
1 answer
A
Hey Jason, so Kicker has not shared that information with us nor do they have it listed anywhere for me to reference immediately. Based on standard car audio wires though I would estimate that the wires are probably 18 AWG as that is pretty standard to match with most car audio systems.

Thank you for your question, Trevor. Yes, this line out converter will work with the Kicker Hideaway 8" powered subwoofer; you'll also need a speaker wire to RCA adapter if using this line out converter https://www.crutchfield.com/I-rET1c195/p_20646KISL/Kicker-46KISL.html I recommend giving one of our Advisors a call at 1-800-324-9695 they'll be able to go over what you'll need to get that powered sub installed into your vehicle.

Would this LOC work on a 2016 Dodge Charger Rallye with a Beats system? And as far as the blue remote wire coming from the inputs side, is it actually outputting?
corey  Oct 26, 2022

A
This could be used in your vehicle. The blue wire is capable of outputting a 12V+ signal to feed into the remote input of outboard amps or processors.

Why wonâ??t the red light go off?
john  Aug 18, 2022
1 answer
A
That light is an LED indicator for DC offset turn-on feature, John. That means everything is working, and you are getting a strong signal. No need for worry!

Is the RCA output of this LOC grounded or not?
hyeuk  Jun 03, 2022

Q
If i splice this into my two rear deck speakers (essentially stealing signal from them to get a left and right positive and negative), and then run the blue remote line to the remote line in on my amp, will the remote line auto on/off still function properly, or does the adapter need to be hooked directly into the radio in order for the on/off to function?
benjamen  May 18, 2021
2 answers
A
that's exactly what it's designed for! It takes the voltages from the speakers and then sends the voltage through the remote turn on wire to the amp to turn it on. The auto on auto off is essentially turning on the radio and turning it off. Would you be using the amp for a sub or the door speakers?
adam  Jul 26, 2021
A
As long as you're getting your + and - signal from the speaker it shouldn't matter where in line is coming from.
justin  Jul 24, 2021

I need a little more info, are you using the blue wire off of this product for the remote line. If so were do you have the kicker low line converter hooked into. A stock sub or your rear speakers?
sean  May 08, 2020
A
Connect the remote cable to the amp remote cable , which is the blue wire
emmanuel  Apr 25, 2020
A
Do you have it hooked straight to your power wire? I have mine hooked to a fuse that I comes on and off with the key turned on.
william  Apr 23, 2020
A
I would make sure all connections are verified to be working. Does the little red light come on by the wires? If that's not on then you don't have power to it at all. Make sure your right and left positives and negatives are connected to the correct wires and all connections are solid. Also make sure your ground wire has a proper grounding connection on a bare metal surface (I sanded an area in the trunk under a cover).
blake  Apr 23, 2020
A
Does it never turn off period? Most cars nowadays have accessory power turned on if you open the door or unlock and stay on for maybe 5 minutes. As is the case with my 2009 BMW 328i, the amp comes on and stays on even with a door unlock. I shut all the doors except for trunk and waited 5 minutes to confirm it would turn off and it did. The only other reason I can think of why it would not turn off would be if you did not actually tap into the speaker wire but a power wire but you would have several issues with that not just power.

Q
Will this remove a 20V DC offset from the factory subwoofer output?
robert  Feb 18, 2020
1 answer
A
I would think it would not. Easiest install point is behind the factory head unit
allissa  Feb 18, 2020
Q
the specs say 55 watts rms per channel, so does that also apply to a 300 watt subwoofer amp?
stephen  Sep 08, 2019
2 answers
A
Yes 55 watts would be input from the speaker line you are tapping into
allissa  Sep 26, 2019
A
I believe it means that if your head unit output exceeds 55W RMS then you should get another converter rated for a higher wattage. This converts speaker lines to RCA output to go to your amp which could be any wattage. The input from your stereo can't exceed 55 W RMS though.
