About the Kicker 46CWTB104

Bob Bihlmayer

Compact enclosure, powerful bass

Whatever kind of music you like, you need a good subwoofer to make it sound great. When you also need to keep your cargo space, you need a powerful, compact solution. Kicker's 46CWTB104 tube subwoofer gives you window-rattling bass and impressive power handling in a surprisingly small package. The enclosure includes a 10" subwoofer and a second passive sub (called a "passive radiator") which reacts to the air pressure produced by the active sub, creating lots more bass without any port noise.

10" bass cannon

Kicker built the 46CWTB104 tube-shaped enclosure out of tough ABS plastic that'll stand up to the stresses of car life. The tubular shape pushes bass frequencies into the air like a cannon, pumping deep, resonant sound into your vehicle and your ears. You can mount the enclosure vertically or horizontally, letting it tuck neatly into a corner of your trunk or cargo area. Spring-loaded wiring terminals make it easy to connect the wiring from your amp.

Kicker speaker quality

You need a high-quality speaker to maximize the sound and impact of your music, and Kicker loads this enclosure with a 10" CompR sub that's ready to step up and bring the boom. Its polypropylene cone and Santoprene rubber surround maintain their shape to give you the serious bass you expect from Kicker. The speaker handles up to 400 watts RMS so you're sure to get the impact you want, while its 4-ohm impedance works with almost any amp. The package includes mounting hardware and brackets for easy installation.

Features

Overview: The Kicker CWTB104 is a weather-proof passive subwoofer featuring a CompR driver and a passive Reflex woofer designed to be installed on Jeeps, boats, and UTVs. The 4 ohm subwoofer can handle 400 watts RMS/800 watts peak power and can be mounted either vertically or horizontally.

Enclosure: The CWTB104 is housed in a thick ABS enclosure with heavy-duty grills for a weather-proof subwoofer solution that's at home in the outdoors. Connection to the sub is done with two recessed spring-loaded terminals, providing a positive electrical connection while being protected from the elements. The sub also includes all hardware for mounting it either vertically, with 17-1/16" of mounting height, or horizontally, with 10-3/4" of height.

CompR: The Kicker sub enclosure includes a CompR mounted on one end and a passive Reflex Subwoofer on the other end. The CompR features a powerful ceramic magnet, an advanced suspension, and superior heat management for long life. Kicker uses its signature red stitching on the woofer for an outstanding bond between the driver's Santoprene surround and Polypropylene cone, providing reliable performance under extreme conditions. Kicker's SoloKon technology joins the cone to the vented back brace, both cooling the motor and eliminating distortion, for clean smooth bass. The built-in Reflex Subwoofer uses the same cone and surround materials as the active sub and is mounted on the opposite end, providing even deeper louder bass than with just the active driver.

Specifications:

  • Enclosure Type: Reflex

  • Impedance: 4Ω
  • Sensitivity (dB 1w/1m): 85.7

Q
If I mount this in an enclosed underseat storage on my pontoon boat, will it reduce it's performance? Would adding a port to the storage area make a difference?

A
I installed this on my 25ft pontoon mounted to the deck in the storage compartment underneath the steering console. It is driven by a JL Audio M600/6 bridged channel @200W. At half volume it shakes the whole boat and causes the bimini to rattle. I don't think adding a port would make a bit of difference to it 's effectiveness, but I question whether having it under a seat would be the most comfortable experience for your passengers. Also measure your space first because it's a pretty big unit. If I had to do it again I probably would go with the 8 inch version because honestly this thing is overkill, but it impresses the heck out of my friends. Hope that helps.

Significantly. Adding a 10" grille would be best. But if you're trying to stay 100% waterproof a passive bass radiator might be what you're looking for. I have mine buried up under the dash. JL audio used to make an 8in a nice half moon box that needs half the space and near equal bass. Subs need to breathe

Im not sure. It think it probably would help if you ported the storage area. Ive got it in a jeep (soft top).and its still surprisingly loud even with the wind noise.
brent  Jul 19, 2021
A
Yes, it will definitely reduce performance, though it's hard to say how much. I can tell you that when I tried mounting in the helm and under the bow seats in the storage area, it shook the boat but didn't sound all that good. It's much better for me mounted vertically on the helm wall in front of the driver's seat.
james  Jul 19, 2021
A
Yes it will a bit. I have it mounted inside the center console and with the door open it really hits it's a lot less when closed but still sounds much better than no sub. I'm going to add a vent / port at some point.

Q
Which end is the active driver?

The mounts allow you to put the active driver on either side.

Yes you do and when you get it set up, it will sound great. I set mine up in my boat and love it!

This is a passive subwoofer and needs to be powered by an appropriately rated amp. I installed on my boat and power this and a pair of JL Audio Tower speakers with a JL Audio 900/5 Marine-rated amp that has a dedicated bass channel. Great bass offering for a small package.
brian  May 26, 2021
A
Yes. You did need an amp.

Yes, you will need an amp for this speaker.

Q
Could this sub be ran to a amp that has a 500watt 2 ohm channel?
jared  Apr 12, 2021
1 answer
A
This subwoofer presents a 4-ohm load. Meaning that the amplifier will output its power @ 4-ohms. there is no way to get this subwoofer to a 2-ohm load. For information on selecting the best amp for your subs ( or vice versa) I would recommend reaching out to an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat. They will be able to help determine the differences between the amp models and help you make the best choice for your system.

Q
Would I be able to use this Kicker 46CWTB104 TB10 sub with a HOME audio mono amp and a receiver? Thanks

A
You would need to make sure the amp you select is stable at 4 ohms but yes, you could theoretically use this in a home application. If you want to discuss your ideas/ system with one of our product advisors you can reach us here: https://www.crutchfield.com/I-rET1c290/S-SUliZgSTXG7/support/ContactUs.aspx

A
You probably could, but there are Lots of better home audio subs for the same price, so I'm not sure why you would want to.
