Saving Space Comes with Trade Offs
Crutchfield customer from SAN DIEGO, CA on 3/11/2025
If you are space limited and want something that works out of the box this is a sold option. The box construction is sturdy and appears well made. The foot print is great and it blends it to your car's interior well. The space savings does come at a cost. Output seems to drop off sharply in the lower frequencies and overall volume is lacking compared to a larger box. I ended up replacing it with a larger ported, custom box for more output.
Pros: - Small Footprint - Sturdy construction - Blends into interior
Cons: - Not is loud as bigger ported box - Out put drops on lower frequencies

Recvd it today, breaking in and already the bass hits nice. Have it installed in my 2017 Jeep Renegade. Great part is I can put stuff on top of it either groceries or my daughter's softball gear for practice and or games. Can't wait till the sub is broken in.
Pros: Good Bass and lows
Cons: None for now

Have it in the trunk of a 2013 accord sedan, perfect fit. Hits hard when you want it too but has a very loose and muddy sound. Not a very sub for a SQ focused build but I guess that's expected for the price point. I think overall it's a good sub for the price, just not what I was looking for.
Pros: Gets loud. Good if your goal is simply to get bass.
Cons: Doesn't play too deep. Sounds rumbly and slow. Doesn't have any punch to it.

Jessica L from RENO, NV on 11/10/2024
Amazing sound and feel. I got these for my little 96 Honda and they were perfect. Now I have them mounted down in the back of my Tahoe and those puppies hit right! I get so many compliments, and they are surprisingly not that loud from the outside if you dial them in properly. Also note I am using a JVC deck and a pioneer 5 channel 2000 watt amp ;)
Pros: Great feel, sturdy construction, amazing punch and capability, low profile for space saving,
Cons: Mounts are kinda weak, had to use a ratchet strap to the base

Pros: -Saves space in my hatch. -Tone is very nice. -Enough punch for most music enthusiasts.
Cons: Only available in 2 ohm configuration.

I've had this a little over a week, under the back seat of my truck. Break in period is supposed to be "2 weeks" but I spend a lot of time in the truck so I'm going to call it broken in. I'm powering this with a kicker cxa400.1, 300w at 2ohms. At first I was pretty disappointed. To produce any kind of respectable bass I had to have it turned down really low, otherwise it would make a loud noise that I thought was the coil. Just today I have realized that the noise is coming from the box vibrating. If I face the subs upright and push on the box, the noise stops. The box also creaks when I push on it. The facial board on the box is not attached well enough and is vibrating causing a very loud noise. If i turn up the bass and push on the box this thing hits pretty hard. I'm sure that if the box was put together properly I would be pretty satisfied with this unit.
Pros: Produces pretty respectable bass.
Cons: Box isn't constructed well enough.

I tried multiple subs in the back of my '04 Mustang convertible. I have been playing around with Skar EVL 8" in a ported enclosure, Skar VD 10" in a ported enclosure, and now this CompTRTP. The Kicker sounds the best, looks the best and takes the least amount of space in my small trunk. It hits really hard for its size. I am impressed! I ran all the subs in the 500-600-watt range for comparison on my Skar RP1200. I turned the amp down a good bit and measured volts with a multimeter to estimate the 500 watt rating. I am going to buy another for the wife's suv.
Pros: Big bass for its size!

First purchased the 10 inch version but it wasn't enough so upgraded to the 12s. These boys get the job done with the Kicker cxa800.1 amp. Don't bother with the 10s, go straight for the 12s! Theve been installed for a few days now and are breaking in nicely. Sound quality is great and the amp has plenty of power to spare. Very happy. The only thing I may do is add some rubber feet to the bottom to keep it from sliding around in my trunk. I've got a weathertech trunk liner so its a bit slippery with just the carpeted box sitting directly on it.

Good Buy!

2014 Acura RDX
Just being completely honest! Bought this for my sons SUV in August as a Christmas present, just to add a little bass for his commute, but with smaller kids, nothing crazy! The 1st box we received was installed, adjusted all the settings on the amp, (500 RMS ) BUT sound was a little disappointing, BUT we figured "you get what you pay for", not a top tier sub, looking to hit the lows of lows. Was good enough so my son left.. My son calls on his way home, approximately 20 min later, and the sub had completely cut out. The amp was in protect mode as well. Told my son to unhook the subs, and as I thought, the amp went back to normal.. The next day I went over to look, and the sub was like it was seized, not just blown. Couldn't push the sub in at all, have never seen that before. Called Crutchfield, and of course they resolved the issue with just a few trouble shooting questions. Had a new box in about 3 days, hooked it up and IMMEDIATELY could tell a difference without adjusting anything. Was WAY louder at level 10 on the head unit, compared to 30 with the blown one! Look, things happen. A $60K car comes with a warranty for a reason, same with a $300 sub. Crutchfield however it the ABSOLUTE best! I will never buy electronics from anywhere else except for them.. We ONLY buy car audio from them! The sub sounds great, Big time bang for the buck. Without that one hiccup, it would be 5 stars all the way!
Pros: Compact, great box, sounds good!
Cons: Things happen! But Crutchfield fixed the issue!

This sub hiiiiiiiiits hard AF! I'm so happy that i decided to buy this subwoofer. I was very hesitant to purchase it because I hadn't heard a down firing subwoofer before. I did A LOT of research, watched tons of reviews, and called to speak to someone at Crutchfield to find out their opinion. They convinced me to give it a try and I'm soooo glad that they did. I'm powering it with a Kenwood 502-1 and I paired that to my 2 Kicker 47KSC69304 speakers, which are powered with a Kicker CXA360.4 that I've bridged to send 150rms to each speaker. This set up buuuuuumps. All I need now is a new head unit and I'm getting ready to call Crutchfield right now to get their opinion on that matter. Buy this sub
Pros: - great sound quality - hits realllllly hard - doesn't take up any space at all - low profile, so ppl can't really see it and hopefully that will keep it from being stolen - great price - solidly built
Cons: - no cons, only happiness :)

It was still going strong, but not able to keep up with road noise when my top was off the Jeep. This works great. I can feel the bass in my seat and the down firing design protects it perfectly. Well I am really not sure yet because I tried it and to meet at first try it don't sound like it's really a good kicker box at least not what I'm used to I do realize it's only 12 inch sub but still kicker usually looks out anyway with that being said it was a really fully try it out I might come back and edit this. I didn't really want this link to expire because I did try it out but only one day a Harley drive my other car because it's like a second vehicle for me so is mostly parked in the garage but again I am going to try it out and hopefully I can come back and headed this and let you know how it really did.
Pros: Is a kicker sub.
Cons: My first impression is not good but again I have to go in and tweak it a little bit and play it was certain songs to be able to come back and give you a real honest answer usually kicker don't let me down so hopefully this will still be the case.

It's also easily movable for if I have my back seat up for passengers, or folded for more cargo area. Great price. The bass that this speaker delivers is phenomenal. I have it running on a cxa800.1 kicker amp. It does a great job as well. This speaker if not pushed to the limits has a decent balance of punchy bass and the deep boom.I have this in a new 2022 4 door Bronco. It doesn't take up much space at all. I would say if someone is just wanting a little extra bass in their factory system the 8" or 10" would be plenty.I would definitely buy this again for another system.

I tried this kicker box as my old Rockford Fosgate P300 D box went out. I pair this with my current system and added the Rockford Fosgate P1000XBD amp and Audio control LC7i. This was going to be placed in my SUV. The design is very well put together and I love the low profile. It is Solid. The bass wasn't ask strong as I like and it rattles my under storage but the bass wasn't deep enough. I tried it for a little over two months I couldn't stand the sound. I replaced it with a Ported Box(Rockford Fosgate P31X12) the Rockford was truly much better for my set up with Focal Evo Flax up front and rear. I think this Kicker is really made for Trucks, but not for SUV especially large ones like my Infiniti QX.
Pros: Good Sound, well built box, great low design profile.
Cons: No deep bass, Not design for all cars wanting bass

Timothy from Lakeland, FL on 5/9/2022
My Kicker sub is not broken in yet, but has remarkably good bass and volume for it's size.As any owner of a 2004-2006 Pontiac GTO knows, adding a subwoofer of ANY size is a sacrifice, as the fuel tank is factory mounted in the trunk. This new Kicker box feels almost like getting my whole trunk back. I giggle every time I open the trunk and see the entire width available to hold all my groceries again. Worth EVERY penny to have bass I can hear and feel while maintaining functionality!
Pros: Nice tight bass, only takes about 10-15% of trunk space in a GTO.
Cons: Not the best for booming hip hop style bass.

Excellent sub for small spaces
Scott from COSTA MESA, CA on 3/17/2022
I originally ordered the 10" version in my 2018 f150 Raptor supercab which worked great, but realized the footprint of the 12" wasn't much larger so exchanged it for the 12. Rodell from Crutchfield was awesome in discussing options, amp power etc to get the sound depth I was seeking, the result was upgrading my amp and adding this sub. The 12 really filled the gap I was hoping and sounds awesome - very satisfied with the sub and stellar customer service I consistently get with Crutchfield!
Pros: Excellent bass depth for vehicles with few options for sub location, well constructed and good value
Cons: None

Big sound little box!
Eric from Sioux Falls, SD on 2/23/2022
This is a small package with a big punch! If space is limited then this is the way to go! It sounds equally as good as big boxes! Kicker has done a great job! I also called Crutfield before purchasing to help with a recommended sub for my application. These pictures are in the back of a limo suburban. There is another one behind the front seats. It's hard to tell in these pics. Doesn't take up hardly any space! Always happy and thankful!!
Pros: Small footprint. Big sound. Paired with a kicker amp was able to push it really hard without distortion
Cons: None

This thing slaps hard enough to make my head hurt, was way smaller than I had imagined. Very happy so far, great fit and finish.
Pros: Easy plug and play install, hits hard for a single entry level 12. Small size
Cons: The bass is addictive and I fear my hearing will ultimately suffer 12/10 would buy again!

Undeniable sound quality from Kicker. Purchased this item to replace a 10-inch JL Audio sub, the sound volume & quality is day & night. I would never have imagined such quality bass coming from such a stealthy box. Recommend this product all day long. HT
Pros: Big bass from a small box.
Cons: None

Trying to get that low in my car like I have in my house. I have yet to find a 16hz sub for the house like the car...so this useable down to 25hz may have to work. The active and passive radiator is similar to my Def. Tech. in the house and garage. It has a small foot print. you can put stuff on top which is nice when you have it in the trunk of your car. This sub hits pretty hard for a sealed box...much better than the sealed 12" before. Its rated at 1000 watts peak which is plenty and enough to keep up with my factory radio. Its connected to an Alpine amp with remote turns on when it realizes it has signal from the high power leads.
Pros: small size, hits pretty good, fits under or behind things well, sounds clean with right amp. Stays put in your trunk
Cons: it will vibrate off the ground if not mounted (not sure if this is a con) but I'm not going to screw it to my rear floor.

I was nervous about the amount of bass I would get from this but I needed the space to stack tool boxes. It sounds just as good as my larger ported box. Plus I don't hear my car rattling since the sound shoots down first. Great purchase!

Perfect for what I needed. Fits perfectly underneath the backseat of my 2019 f150 super crew. I wasn't looking for rattle the neighbors windows bass, but it's enough for for what I wanted. With the down firing location of these speakers I didn't loose any storage space. I can just raise the rear seat and place things directly on top of the box.
Pros: Size, bass
Cons: None

Garbage
Crutchfield customer from Modesto, CA on 6/14/2021
I've had 2 of these sub and once a song with enough bass goes it blows the sub. I have these kicker comp Rt 12's. I love those 12's and it's so much more reliable then this garbage sub. I even had this thing on back order in February barely got it in May and it broke not 2 weeks later
Pros: None
Cons: Breaks too easy

Excellent slim design and power. The only down is that if I set the box to down fire, the bass has distortion effect, if I lay it up firing, the rear panel rattles so I have to place it in an angle aiming towards the rear to get the bass just right.
Pros: Excellent slim design
Cons: Bass distortion when down and up firing.

I love this Kicker Sub! I had the old model which was also very good. I like this one even better and the ability to get my small truck space back is even better. I can place items on this sub and not worry about it. I think that is have a deeper bass sound and its not even been broke in yet. I recommend this! Picture is in my 2020 kia soul.
Pros: can place items on it without worrying
Cons: none.
