Built-in toughness

The woofer's forged aluminum frame and Santoprene™ rubber surround handle high-level playback, while keeping the cone on track. The injection-moulded SoloKon™ polypropylene cone features special back bracing for strength and responsiveness. And the UniPlate™ back plate and pole piece are made as a single, solid unit to allow heat to escape the motor. Translation? Kicker designed this sub to take some serious punishment.

Top of the line

Kicker Q-Class products incorporate cutting-edge technologies and superb construction to deliver an extraordinary musical experience in your vehicle. These products are only sold by select dealers chosen by Kicker.

Product Research

Features

Square Design: By making the cone square, Kicker is giving you the most possible cone area (Sd) for a given size baffle, 16% to 20% more area than a conventional round subwoofer. More cone area means the cone moves more air, resulting in louder, deeper bass.

Dual Voice Coils: For increased system flexibility, the woofer has two 4Ω voice coils. When the voice coils are wired in parallel, the woofer presents a 2Ω load; when wired in series, the woofer presents an 8Ω load.

Terminals: The spring post terminals will accept pin connectors, single banana plugs (but not dual), and bare wire up to 8 gauge.

Break-in Period: Due to the complex nature of Kicker L7 woofers, they require a break-in period in order to produce optimum bass response. The high-performance suspension system makes the speakers very stiff out-of-the-box. Approximately two weeks of daily playing will allow the suspension to break-in and reach its optimum equilibrium. A broken-in subwoofer will exhibit stronger bass performance, smoother response, and greater low-bass extension.

Sealed Enclosure: A sealed enclosure design gives the smoothest response with increased energy at the lowest frequencies (between 20 and 30 Hz).

  • Minimum Volume: 1 ft³
  • Maximum Volume: 2 ft³

Vented Enclosure: A vented enclosure design increases efficiency relative to sealed enclosures.

  • Minimum Volume: 1.75 ft³ with a 2½" x 13¼ x 22½" slot port
  • Maximum Volume: 3.25 ft³ with a 3" x 13¼" x 14½" slot port

Cutout: The woofer will not mount in a standard enclosure with a round cutout. Instead, the woofer must be mounted in an enclosure with a 11.017" x 11.017" square opening.

Q
I bought two of the l7 would a 1600 amp be fine for both or would I need a stronger amp?

A
1600 watts will give you everything you are looking for,, I'm running 1 on a Kicker 750 and it sounds great.
kenneth  Sep 12, 2021
A
That would be enough but I could go with more power. Also depends on enclosure. For example I have a 12 in a 2.6 net cubes ported enclosure with a cxa1200.1 at 2ohms. Been over a year sounds amazing.

Q
What amp you recommend for a single l7 12 q class? Im thinking a 2000 watt mono block

I have these 2 12s on a rockford fosgate t1000 power monoblock.More than enough power..my subs can go to positive 14 and I have them on negative 6 and it still bumps.stock alternator and I upgraded to an interstate amg glassmat battery and all led's to take away from my lights dimming.

I use a 1200 watt Kicker mono amp, which is more than enough as it is. Works perfectly. 2000 is total overkill for one of these subs.
austin phoenix  Jul 13, 2021
A
Rockford fosgate 1000 watt rms mono block
bruce  Jul 13, 2021
A
They rms @ 900w, personally I'd use an amp of 900-1200 watts, 2000 will surely damage the speaker
randy  Jul 13, 2021
A
2k might be a bit much. Maybe in a sealed enclosure and adjusted to the cleanest output possible. I personally have mine on 1200rms in a custom ported enclosure and have not had an issue.
darnell  Jul 12, 2021
Q
what box specs can i use for 2 Kicker Q-Class 41L7124 L7 Series 12" subwoofer with dual 4-ohm voice coils?
jose  May 28, 2021

A
Just double the specs kicker offers in the user manual. You can also download the kicker app which assist in box design. Most designers, including myself, charge a small fee for completed box designs.

Q
What amp is required to power just one kicker 12 L7 4ohm ???
daniel  Jul 08, 2020
1 answer
A
Depends on what type enclosure you plan on using. If ported, I would say 600-700 watts as they tend to be more efficient. I however I am partial to sealed enclosures, so 800-1000 for a sealed box. And make sure it puts out full power into 2ohms. I'm currently using a Q class 1000.1 on mine, but a kicker kxa800.1 would work great too. Hope this helps

I recently purchased two of these speakers. Any recommendations as to what Amp or Amps I should run? Trying to create a very nice looking setup.

Kicker amp 3600w and you might need a capacitor as well. If you have 4ohm subs wire them up for a 1ohm load and they will hit hard
jeremy  Jul 06, 2020
A
Well Kicker does make pretty good amps, if you wanted everything matching. I have their 1200 watt pushing one q class l7 at 2 ohms and I'm extremely happy with it.
darnell  Jul 06, 2020

I'm running mine on a 2500 sonido mask I've had no problems I also ran the 15's i had a few years ago on a quantum d class

1500 to 2000 X 1 or X 2 depending on your specs. Im using a Kicker 1000 X 1 and needs more. Very impressed with these subs ??

Q
what is the optimum size amp for this sub, for one sub and for two?

A
Thanks for your question. For information on selecting the best amp for your subs I would recommend reaching out to an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat. They will be able to help determine the differences between the amp models and help you make the best choice for your system.

Im hooking up to a jl audio hd750/1 do i run my speakers in series or parallel?
jeremy  Feb 12, 2019

I recommend connecting only one of these subwoofers to that amp and wiring the voice coils in parallel to get a 2 ohm load for that amp My Bio: https://www.crutchfield.com/bio/Paul
