About the Kicker 44L7S82
Truly huge bass
Truly huge bass
Kicker builds their Solo-Baric® subwoofers for one purpose: to deliver truly huge, supremely accurate bass. The 44L7S82 Solo-Baric L7S™ 8" component subwoofer handles up to 450 watts RMS, enough power to fill any vehicle. Its innovative square cone moves much more air than a conventional 8" round cone, and this sub's made to take anything you can dish out.
Built-in toughness
The woofer's forged aluminum frame and Santoprene™ rubber surround handle high-level playback, while keeping the cone on track. The injection-moulded SoloKon™ polypropylene cone features special back bracing for strength and responsiveness. The sub's two 2-ohm voice coils give you extra flexibility in incorporating this sub into your system. And the UniPlate™ back plate and pole piece are made as a single, solid unit to allow heat to escape the motor. Translation? Kicker designed this sub to take some serious punishment.

Enclosure Compatibility
Features
Dual Voice Coils: For increased system flexibility, the woofer has two 2Ω voice coils. When the voice coils are wired in parallel, the woofer presents a 1Ω load; when wired in series, the woofer presents a 4Ω load.
Square Design: By making the Solo-Baric square, Kicker is giving you the most possible cone area (Sd) for a given size baffle, 16% to 20% more area than a conventional round subwoofer. More cone area means the cone moves more air, resulting in louder, deeper bass.
Cone Material: The square SoloKon design is a unique one-piece construction, using injection molded polypropylene that moves as a lightweight piston, for improved control. A rear cone brace integrates into the cone with a continuous contact perimeter weld, which improves strength and resistance to deformation under pressure.
Surround: The tough, flexible Santoprene rubber surround has a long-throw, positive-roll design, which controls extreme cone excursion and is tear-resistant. The corners of the surround are ribbed to ensure linear cone motion. The surround is stitched to the reinforced cone edge to improve durability.
Speaker Terminals: The terminals are spring loaded and nickel plated for solid connections with speaker wire up to 10 gauge.
Break-in Period: Due to the complex nature of Kicker Solo-Baric L7S woofers, they require a break-in period in order to produce optimum bass response. The high-performance suspension system makes the speakers very stiff out-of-the-box. Approximately two weeks of daily playing will allow the suspension to break-in and reach its optimum equilibrium. A broken-in subwoofer will exhibit stronger bass performance, smoother response, and greater low-bass extension.

The L7S8 kicks major ass in a ported enclosure! Worth every dollar especially when you pair it with the Kicker 400w amplifier. Highly recommended!
