Exactly What We Were Looking For
Faramarz from Willamina, OR on 4/2/2023
After a foot of insulation was blown into our attic space, we remembered we needed some sort of speaker box. Oops. There's no easy way to get to the space where the speakers were to be inserted and no safe way to move the insulation even if we did get there, so the only option was to do everything from below. These baffles worked perfect!

Protecting In-ceiling Speakers
Michael from Mesa, AZ on 2/7/2023
Bought these to protect a pair of 6-1/2" in-ceiling Atmos speakers (Polk Audio RC60i) from dust and insulation. They fit pretty much perfectly in terms of diameter, but had a bit more height than I needed. Fortunately, that wasn't an issue for my install.
Pros: Affordable. Easy installation.
Cons: Taller than I needed.

Perfect solution to keep your in-ceiling speakers protected
Bruce from Lewes, DE on 1/13/2023
Bought these to provide a barrier between ceiling insulation (both rolled and blown), and my 6.5 inch in-ceiling speakers. After cutting the hole in my ceiling, and finding the speaker wire that was already installed, I poked a small hole in the side of the baffle. It was easy to push the speaker wire through, and only a small hole was needed. I then pushed the baffle through the hole in the ceiling. They are very soft and pliable, so fitting the 10 inch baffle through the hole for a 6.5 inch speaker was not an issue. After a bit of pushing on the sides and rim of the baffle, it was back to its normal shape. The result is a wonderful, clean cavity in which to install the speakers. Even my wife was impressed by the clean look of the hole in the ceiling with the baffle installed. I highly recommend the 10 inch baffles as they provide ample room for 6.5 inch speakers. They might work well for 8 inch speaker as well, since there was still a bit of space left on the sides. For in-ceiling use, buy the size that is much larger than your speaker diameter.
Pros: Pliable for easy installations in ceilings Good price

You have 8" Polk in ceiling speakers? Too bad, but if you do this are the baffles for you! The 8" baffles are too small however these fit nice and snug. The material is robust and I feel confident the speakers are well protected from dust and debris. Very satisfied with this purchase.

Things you never thought you needed
Crutchfield customer from Marshall, MI on 1/26/2021
...I bought these for a home theater project where I'm placing speakers in my ceiling and wanted something to keep insulation off the speakers. These should do the trick. they are flexible enough to easily go through the hole and if needed mold around anything they need to and seem well-suited to protecting a speaker from environmental damage in my ceiling... or inside a car door.
Pros: Seem well suited to what they are made for... flexible and strong. very good idea if you are putting speakers in a car door with windows that open. They will keep them dry on rainy days if your seals leak even a little.
Cons: ...I really can't find any.

WARNING - The 10" Speaker Baffle is not 10 inches
Gregory from WILMINGTON, NC on 1/10/2021
WARNING - The XTC 10" Speaker Baffle is not 10 inches. It comes in around 9.25 inches and things quickly get tighter than that with the tapered nature of the design. I was able to return the product but I was still charged the original shipping cost. Which is not exactly fair as I would have never purchased the product if the true inside diameter measurement was posted in the description. The baffle itself seemed to be a quality product, and Crutchfield's enormously fast shipping and quality customer service is the only reason this isn't a 1-Star review. However, it should be stated that I have reordered the 12" version of this product from Crutchfield. I still need the baffles for my install and Crutchfield didn't hurt my feelings enough to put them on my "never order from them again" list.
Pros: Quality Product
Cons: Not enough product details

Awesome value for better sound
Crutchfield customer from Renton, WA on 5/2/2020
I was initially looking at a size smaller but on the recommendation of the specialist, I ordered the 10". This was a good decision as the smaller wouldn't have worked. I installed these behind my inceiling speakers in hopes to prevent the sound traveling into the upstairs rooms. I added some sound deadening material (cheap hack: USEAL aluminum foil waterproofing for roofs) to increase its ability to direct the sound. Although it didn't Make a difference in terms of decreasing sound bleeding through the walls when listening at equal volumes (I tested this w my iphones db meter; same song/volume pre and post install), it made a huge impact on sound quality/volume downstairs. I am able to listen at lower volumes which in a way does make it less loud upstairs. The sound quality is vastly better than before, especially in the vocal range. Note: this is the first time removing my inceiling speakers. It was pretty easy after finding a removal video on YouTube. I did all five speakers in about 45 min. I spent an additional 45 min adding sound deadening material to baffles. Overall very satisfied with the purchase and customer support.
Pros: Easy install Good price to fidelity gains
Cons: None

tight fit
kxrider from Saugus, MA on 8/28/2016
The baffle does what is supposed to do. I installed a 10 Sub in the ski locker of my boat and used the baffle as a method of protecting the speaker as well as helping to contain speaker back pressure in the open area behind the speaker. The one issue I have is that when the hole is cut correctly for mounting the speaker, the clearance was too tight to get the speaker through the hole with the baffle in place. Enlarging the hole didn't leave enough material for the mounting screws to get any bite. I ended up gluing the front face of the baffle to the back face of the mounting plate and then inserting the speaker.
Pros: inexpensive sound fix for multiple types of installs.
Cons: Speaker mounting clearance might be an issue for some uses.

Excellent Product
AA4OD from New Bern, NC on 8/22/2013
It is exactly what I wanted to use with Polk speaker. This is mount the the ceiling or overhead outside overhang parallel to a in ground swimming pool. Since I was pushing the speakers up through the hole the housing had to be sliced to permit the wires from keeping the cover from coming down over the speaker back. Overall and excellent product and was exactly what I needed. By the way, apparently I was not alert when ordering as they come in pairs so I got an extra pair. No problem, I just put two together for each of the two (2) speakers.
Pros: Well made.
Cons: None
