Instructions from the box could be improved, but overall this interface was a plug-n-play for the Sony DSX-M80 into my 2015 Jeep Wrangler Sport Unlimited with base sound system. Steering wheel controls work and have a good response.

More trouble than its worth!

Unsure what this device does exactly (neither does my installer) and why it seems to stop my radio from turning off with the engine. I have to do it manually...even with the acc wire connected. Strange!

Great radio....lack luster standby mode

Works well, sounds good, fits nicely with dash kit. Biggest issue is that when vehicle sits off for 10/12 hours, overnight the radio goes in to standby mode and the clock and date reset. I've tried everything to correct it. It's driving me crazy, if anyone knows the fix please let me know.

Skip this for the Datalink Maestro

Save yourself the trouble and get the Maestro. After several hours troubleshooting, then an hour with tech support (Crutchfield support was great by the way), we determined that the unit was faulty, and a replacement was sent. Fast forward to the next weekend and plug in the new one, unit powered up so that was a win, however it would not respond to steering wheel controls. Another two calls to customer assistance and a couple of hours later there is no way to get it to work. Finally, I just gave up and went with the Datalink Maestro, and it just worked upon installing - no support calls! If you're looking for a challenge, this might be the product for you, otherwise skip this junk.

does the product work, yes, but I have installed numerous systems and this has the worst instructions of any stereo product I have seen. Price is reasonable, and tech support was good, but instructions aren't clear of what goes where. On Alpine stereo there are bout 8 wires on Crux harness and stereo harness that that do not get used, but it doesn't tell you that. the Audio filter harness, it doesn't state where to connect cable to system. Instructions need to be redone.

Good option to keep your SWC functions

Works great. Volume, source, seek and skip functions all work on my Jeep steering wheel controls. Just as expected. Pretty simple to install. I opted for the Ready-Harness service from Crutchfield, but install would still have been simple had I done it myself.

2008 Dodge Caliber. Spent a few hours hooking up everything without this harness and found out that needed special adapters to bypass factory amp and find accessory power, as Dodge in its wisdom doesn't supply power to the radio in a normal way. Ordered on Thursday, arrived Friday, radio working like a champ. Wish I had ordered originally. Even made factory steering controls work easily.

So far, works as expected

Installed in my 2015 Jeep Wrangler with a new Pioneer DEH-S7200BHS head unit. Purchased with the "Ready Harness" (best decision ever.) Worked right out of the gate with no issues. Took a star off because the documentation for updating to the latest firmware for running a Jeep with no doors was not very clear. (No matter what the Crux Website or Crutchfield says, do not use the "GD" firmware. That is for a different circuit board. Use the 2.0.0_No_Doors file.) Installation was great (again, thanks to pre wired harness) and despite it being quite a bit bulkier than a traditional PAC unit, fit in the cavity with a Sirius XM tuner as well. (By the way, thanks to Chebi! She was fantastic tech support, called me back with possible solutions for the no doors issue, and definitely brightened my morning!)

Worked perfectly for keeping the steering wheel controls in my jeep. I did the pre-wired harness for this, which is a must. BUT I made the mistake of looking at the manual and flipping the dip switches to what the manual said, instead of how Crutchfield set it. Crutchfield was right so I had to flip the switches back. Does what it needs to do.

Worked exactly as expected. Reasonably simple to setup and install. Would have appreciated some more detailed technical info on the wiring. I initially didn't have a good connection on one set of wires and the front right speaker was not working. Didn't want to re-splice all of the wire pairs, so I had to do some digging online to figure out which specific pair was the problem. I re-spliced the correct set of wires and the problem was resolved. Had that info been present in the documentation, it would have saved me a little time. Ultimately, it's my fault for poorly splicing the wires in the first place, but it wouldn't hurt to have that info available for troubleshooting purposes.

Bought another brand cheaper at a box store and even with their factory support could not get it to work. After purchasing the crux cs-cr41 and following the easy detailed instructions granddaughters car stereo is working just as it was supposed to even all the steering wheel controls and factory amplifier! lesson learned ...if its audio connected buy from Crutchfield!

2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee w/Boston Acoustics

Used for aftermarket kenwood stereo in my 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee with premium sound/amp. Easy installation, works perfectly and kept my steering wheel controls. There's a little bit of lag but maybe a couple milliseconds so not really an inconvenience at all compared to not being able to use at all with other set ups.

Save your money

Didn't work. Pins didn't fit in the molex plug. Even being careful it would shove the pins back inside the housing. Finally made them fit and after ensuring nothing was seriously damaged, I plugged it all in and it's sparked and smoked. Had to clip the wires and wire the speakers myself. Paid to keep steering wheel controls and should have saved money and went to the local shop. Couldn't return it... had to cut it to make it work and wasn't gonna make my kid drive around without a stereo even longer.

Incorrect information

Put in vehicle info as 2007 Dodge Dakota Club Cab without Alpine system. Noted it did fit with no problems. My truck has no steering wheel controls so I selected no steering wheel controls. $60 for the harness and I got the wrong one for my vehicle after it said it would work.

Solid Interface, does everything it's supposed to

I installed this interface adapter in a 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee with a JVC radio. The included instructions were very simple to follow. The Jeep has the Boston system so the interface uses just two of the speaker connections to jive with the amp. You loose fading control but the Jeep system is quite balanced already so this was a nonissue. The adapter also has pre-programmed steering wheel control integration and this worked flawlessly, just flip the dip switches to the brand radio and voila. Just make sure to use posi-connectors, crimp connects or solder and tape to make sure you have solid connections. The neater you can bundle the wires together the less likely things are going to fall apart in the dash.

Functions Well on Jeep

Unit works well with to keep steering wheel controls functional on a 2017 Jeep Patriot. The only suggestion I would have to the manufacturer is to switch the 2mm audio connector to a straight connector rather than the 90 degree version. This would allow it to be tie-wrapped unto a neater bundle of wires in the dashboard.

Don't buy this!!!

This product was useless for my dodge. You still have to connect wires by hand. It does not retain factory controls at all. It has a adapter for amp/passthrough that did not work at all. I ended up cutting all of the wires to try to get it to work. Sound through this unit was so poor once I got it to work, I threw it out and spliced the connections myself. That works fine. If you ask me don't buy this. Just go online and look up your factory connection and splice it yourself. If you don't want to do that, buy elsewhere.

Customer service is truly wonderful, this was the second unit I purchased and had a good experience both times. I installed this head unit in a2015 jeep wrangler and had a question about a plug left open in the stock harness, all I had to do is make one phone call to their techs and in 5 mins I had a clear picture on the rest of the installment. I also always have them build the new harness and have always been extremely happy.

Works perfect. Small issue, I was only getting front speakers to work. After about an hour of trial and error, the filter sticker of "Amplified and Not-amplified was backwards, and there's no way of knowing any different. So, before in doing wires simply swap the plug first. Save you about 59 minutes.
