Made Installation a Breeze
Jacob from Salem, OR on 6/16/2025
2006 Chevrolet Silverado 1500
This worked great when I was installing an older Kenwood headunit in my dad's 2006 Chevy Silverado - seamless integration, very easy to set up/wire up, and chimes/steering wheel controls were maintained without any cutting or splicing. Once this was wired up installing the headunit took about 30 minutes - this crux wiring interface made it SO much easier.
Pros: Easy settings via 3 dip switches. Clear instructions.

Great product
John from Manhattan, KS on 6/15/2025
2001 Oldsmobile Alero
Installed in my 2001 oldsmobile alero. At first I purchased the wrong harness only finding out it was the wrong harness after removing old head unit out. Called crutchfield and the rep suggested this wiring harness. I could not be happier with how easy it was to install and how simple the instructions were the new head unit worked first try didnt have to adjust anything. Product works great only thing is it did take alot of the room so everything is packed tight.
Pros: Ease of use. Instructions easy to understand.
Cons: Module takes up alot of the room.

Did not work reliably with BOSE amp
Andrew from Des Moines, IA on 4/11/2025
2004 Chevrolet Tahoe
I installed this with an alpine ILX W770 in my 2004 tahoe with BOSE. It worked with reduced sound quality for about 2 weeks and then the sound would randomy quit working, I would let the truck sit overnight and then it would work while I drove to work but not when I drove home from work. Tried another amplifier and that did not fix the issue, the head unit lights up and every function works but the speakers just pulse static. I do not think the CRUX box is correctly communicating with the amp

wiring confusion
Matt from Titusville, FL on 2/23/2025
2006 Chevrolet SSR
I purchased this crux interface to install in an SSR with a new modern radio. This radio is difficult to install because of the passenger air bag. After installing it I wanted to test it before buttoning it up, all functions worked except the rear-view camera. I went over the wiring over and over and could not get it to work in reverse. I called Crutchfield and spoke to an advisor, and she decided the problem was due to the vehicle being standard shift not automatic. One wire did not have to be connected the way I interpreted the instructions. after running another wire from the backup bulb this is the second one directly to the radio it worked. She did a great job thank you again!
Pros: They are very knowledgable with their products
Cons: none

I can't recommend the CRUX interface.
Michael from ROCHELLE, IL on 1/25/2025
2004 Pontiac Sunfire
Here's my opinion based on my experience installing a receiver with this interface. Personally I think it's junk. It did not allow my car's retained accessory power to function as it should. No matter what I did, I couldn't get it right. Normally in a GM car, when you turn the car off and open the door the receiver turns off. After the Crux install the radio wouldn't turn off when it should. The radio would eventually turn off when the dome light went off. When you'd open the car door the receiver would turn on, even though the car wasn't running. Yes, i did install this with the battery disconnected. For whatever reason I couldn't get this interface to "shake hands" with the car's computer and to function as intended. My other issue with this interface is the sound quality. My son's car has the factory Monsoon speakers. While they aren't the best speakers in the world, they do sound pretty darn good. When I installed my son's new Boss receiver with this interface the sound quality dramatically decreased. My son was quite bummed out about this. I was bummed out myself as this was supposed to be an awesome Christmas present. After all the issues with this Crux interface, Crutchfield ended up sending us the more expensive PAC interface. Holy cow! What a difference! The PAC interface sounded MUCH BETTER and instantly put a smile on his face. Even if you don't need the features of the more expensive PAC interface, I'd recommend it for the sound quality al
Pros: None
Cons: Your receiver will sound worse than stock. Your retained accessory power may not work as expected. No chimes.

Made for easy install
Chris from Alexandria, VA on 12/9/2024
2004 GMC Yukon XL
This made for an incredibly easy install on my 04 Yukon XL SLT (Bose). The steering wheel controls do stuff, even if it's not quite what you expect. I just installed it last night, so I still need to play, but it seems that my volume control toggles between inputs, going up on the seek button skips to the next song, and going down turns the volume down. I'm just glad they're not dead buttons. None of this really matters, since the head unit is right there a few inches away, and I opted to get a Sony with actual buttons.
Pros: Plug and play
Cons: SWCs don't do what they used to, but they still do something.

Works fine for me
Benjamin from Cape Girardeau, MO on 3/1/2024
2009 Chevrolet Corvette
Works just fine in 09 Corvette without Bose. Has a slight bit of floor noise, but once the car is running you won't likely hear it. Not Cruthfield's fault, but the head unit I bought needs a speed sensor input for CarPlay to work and I didn't know that. So if you are going to need that, get the more expensive interface that includes the speed sensor wire. Otherwise, seems to be good stuff at a price well below other units on the market.
Pros: Price, ease of install.
Cons: Doesn't include speed sensor wire.. so make sure you don't need that.

poor quality control. Doesnt work from factory.
Ryan from North Dakota on 1/28/2024
2005 Chevrolet Silverado 1500
After spending close to 6 hours on this item, found out via Crutchfield's support that the Crux cs-gmc2 was pinned out wrong. One of the molex adapters was sending negative feed through my data wire. This Junk could of fried out my entire truck through the mistake of the factory who made it. 42 minutes on support. The individual i talked to was really nice and professional and was able to help troubleshoot everything. Had entire cluster break. No temp, voltage, oil pressure or fuel guage. Fuel, battery, abs light was on and the service 4 wheel drive is on now with this plugged in. Installed on a 2005 chevy Silverado. granted, im provided a new one..... Just have to wait now for this while i have my dash all apart.

Gilbert from FONTANA, CA on 1/20/2024

Wired up in about 30 minutes using the crutchfield wiring guide included with my kit. Very easy to follow. Twisted the wires together then crimped and shrank the heat tubing on the connector. The chime rings up when you turn on the key so that is an indication that power is going to the connector.
Pros: Works as intended as long as its built correctly. These kits make installation fool proof.
Cons: Extra wiring for SWC not needed. Extra expense for parts not used. My Tahoe does not have SWC nor Sirius.

Works great! I installed this in my 2004 Silverado with Bose system. Install was relatively easy. I did have to call tech support with two questions to make sure I was wiring it correctly because the instructions weren't as great as I would have hoped. But tech support was great to deal with. It's a little bit expensive in my opinion, but it works so that's all I care about. I haven't hooked up the steering wheel control interface because there are zero instructions on how to do so, so I guess I need to call tech support back for that again.
Pros: Works how it should

Crutchfield Makes This Easy

2005 GMC Sierra 1500
Bought my 2005 GMC Sierra years ago, and I have been battling trying to get the steering wheel controls to work with different aftermarket modules, while leveraging the original aftermarket harness that came with the truck. I couldn't be any more satisfied after this weekend when I hooked this kit up and immediately had steering wheel controls again!!! Super easy, and straight forward to wire up, and it made the truck's chime feel much more modern from that old raspy box I was using. 100% would recommend!
Pros: Straightforward and easy Steering Wheel Controls Retained Truck's Chime Feels More Modern Connects to Any Aftermarket Stereo

Kept all my steering wheel controls working with my new radio
Todd E. from W SPRINGFIELD, MA on 11/20/2022
2004 Chevrolet Tahoe
Worked as advertised! This Crux interface arrived already wired in to the harness with all the right connections as part of the Crutchfield Ready Harness service I paid for. They did all the thinking and made it ready to go. There are DIP switch settings that need to be set for the system you are installing. The switches were already set to the correct positions for me as part of that service. Not that doing that part is hard, but hey... Nice they took care of everything to make it just work when I got it. The interface did exactly what was advertised. It maintained the factory steering wheel control (SWC) functions on my 04 Chevy Tahoe. It all works like it did from the factory. Was it an absolute necessity? No. It sure is nice, though!!!
Pros: Worked perfectly! Maintain factory functions of steering wheel control (SWC) buttons as advertised.
Cons: None.

Clearly what it works w. is Smoke and Mirrors - Time Waste
Joseph from Cochranville, PA on 4/24/2021
2003 Hummer H2
Wasted a week on a install with this junk... Installing on a 2003 Hummer H2 and originally went with this interface as part of the Crutchfield discounted install package. After installing a new headunit (Sony) it would lose all sound after 5 min. Reset after key recycle and cut off after 5 min repeatedly. After making sure all wiring was right figured it was the Crux and Crutchfield Support agreed and sent a second one. (Crutchfield has been great and quick turn). Sure enough pulled the console, reinstalled, and the exact same thing. Junk and clearly DOES NOT work for a Hummer H2 contrary to claims. I probably should have noted that not a single review was from an H2 install. So I ended up buying a Metra GMOS04 from Crutchfield because I was convinced it was the interface and sure enough after a third install it works flawlessly... Definitely the Crux crap. Chose the Metra because there was a couple of H2 reviews that made reference to a positive install. Should have been from diligent in my research. Anyway stuck with a junk Crux since I tossed the box on my original install and lesson learned. Do your homework and buy an Interface that at least has 1 or 2 positive reviews for your ride.
Pros:
Cons: Says very clearly on Crux website it works with 2003 Hummer H2 but no chance it does. Sorry. If you have a Bose system I would proceed w caution

Dino from Denton, TX on 2/11/2019
Crutchfield has got the car audio system down so that even the ones of us without much experience can do a professional job. The wiring interface was assembled and set up to where all I had to do was pug it in. I had a couple of technical questions because I had two factory connectors left over with no place to connect. I called Crutchfield's technical support and immediately a technician was on the line with me while I was sitting in my car. He told me sometimes you do have left over connectors that the new receiver has everything I would need. It was like having an expert there with me for the install.
Pros: Easy installation, quality product and fit right with factory harness.

The way to go unless you absolutely need OnStar
Kyle from Katy, TX on 2/9/2019
2006 Chevrolet Avalanche
Installed a Sony WX-920BT into a 2006 Avalanche with factory Bose. The interface module is small enough to fit nicely with some foam between the HVAC controls and dash, wiring is neatly done and not a rat's nest like some other interfaces. The wiring is really thin though, barely passes for 18 gauge even with the power/ground wires. The chime sounds decent actually and can be turned completely off through the volume adjustment. Gain isn't adjustable for the Bose amp, but it's about spot on for my new Sony receiver. Steering wheel controls function reliably, although the volume doesn't change as fast when holding the button down as it did with the factory radio, and the Voice/Prog buttons no longer function. I've already gotten used to the volume speed and I never used the other two buttons, so I'm not upset by it, but it's worth mentioning. I also noticed the dimmer output doesn't always work if the auto headlights are already on when you start the truck. Adjusting the dimmer knob a bit makes it function normally again. Other than those quirks, the interface works great. Haven't noticed any weird glitches with the truck, communication errors, battery draw, etc.
Pros: Most reliable and least cumbersome Class 2 interface I've tried
Cons: Thin wiring, Prog and Voice steering wheel controls don't function, some other quirks

The interface is well made and everything fit together easily as expected. I gave it a 4 instead of five because I can't use my steering wheel controls to change to the different source like I could with original stereo. It might be a function of the stereo and not the harness but I did pay extra "to maintain steering wheel controls" and if they weren't totally the same it should say so. Overall very pleased though

Steering Wheel Controls Do Not Function Properly
Jimmy from Destin, FL on 4/15/2018
2006 Buick LaCrosse
This review is focused on the Steering Wheel Control (SWC) features of this interface device. I had no problems with the wiring--radio connections have become common practice because, thankfully, radio manufacturers and connector companies have agreed to a common color code. Only question I had regarding wiring was "Reverse" in the instructions--Crutchfield adviser informed me this was included for a Back-Up camera (if the radio had a display for this)--I guess Reverse is a signal from the vehicle to the radio to display the back-up camera. Now for the review of the logical interface between the radio and the factory SWC: Some of the controls worked without a hitch--volume up/volume down. However, many of the SWC functions did no operate as the instructions indicated. My vehicle (2006 Buick LaCrosse) came equipped with SWC for the climate control system with Temperature Up and Temperature Down steering wheel selections. After installing the CS-GMC2 interface box, the climate controls now do the following: Temp Up - Mode; Temp Down - Volume Attenuation (not Muting only about 3 db attenuation). The steering wheel Mode control doesn't control the Mode; the SWC Mute does nothing; the SWC 1-6 does nothing. After two calls to Crutchfield, I was sent a replacement CS-GMC2. Upon installing the replacement there was no change in the SWC functionality. At this point, I have accepted that this interface does not function as it should and I will just have to live with it.
Pros: Connections should have been easy (three DIP switches and two different connectors designed for different radio manufacturers); however, the results did not live up to the promise.
Cons: This CS-GMC2 did not provide the proper radio operation with the factory Steering Wheel Controls. Mode, Mute, 1-6 did not function as intended or described in the instructions. Also, this interface did not allow the factory climate SWC to control cabin temperature--the Temp Controls now modify the radio settings. I would have preferred the older SWC systems that provided resistors of varying Ohms that I could use for the SWCs to work right.

Your staff has been very helpful with trying to figure out this complex stereo transfer with the Bose system in my suburban. The Bose system has been very problematic to deal with.,and I would never buy a Bose product because of this. I'm still trying to get the new system installed a phase at a time and hope to eventually get it completed. The harness module worked only in the non-Bose input. And the car rear speakers only worked with the entire Bose system in place. I need to fine where to now put the Bose amp ,rear seat module and the massive wire harness, hopefully somewhere in the dash. That being said , again thanks for your help.

Got on the waiting list for a professional install and found out afterwards that the device was bad. Had to wait for a replacement to be sent to me, reschedule an appointment with the shop and pay extra for their troubles. I gave it an extra star only because Crutchfield did all they could do by replacing it as soon as possible.
Pros: They sent me a new one 5 days later
Cons: No tunes.

This product itself is likely great, but this did not work like I would have liked with my 2007 corvette. The factory chimes did not work like they should have. Each time I would go to change the display on my SIC, there should have only been 1 chime and with this, there were many chimes each time like if you were to pull the e brake.

Bad recommendation for AVIC-5200-NEX
Dave from Seattle, WA on 6/26/2017
2006 Chevrolet Silverado 1500
After professional installation got error message "Speed Pulse Wire Not Connected". I purchase the Crux interface at Crutchfield recommendation. It turns out the Crux interface does not include a speed pulse wire. WHY DOES CRUTCHFIELD RECOMMEND AN INCOMPLETE INTERFACE? Crutchfield customer service was a disappointment. The first response from Daniel was ... Hello Dave, If the Crux was not capable of picking up the speed sense he could have ran it to the actual wire in vehicle. Vehicle speed sense: Pin E6 of 68-pin gray plug behind LH instrument panel relay block under dash D.GN/WT. The speed sense wire is optional and "Hybrid" mode means it obtains yours speed via GPS instead of tach wire. If you want him to connect this and he cannot find it he can call us with your order number. Thanks, CRUTCHFIELD Daniel, Technical Support The second response from AJ... Hello, Our web description on the Crux does list all features retained and we do not list the speed sense wire, but it's honestly not something most people consider or know they need up front. We'd be happy to set up a return for the Crux or an exchange if you'd prefer to use the Metra the dealer recommends. We do list the LC-GMRC-01 which has a VSS (vehicle speed sense) output. Just let us know how you'd like to proceed, we can get you return information if you'd like to send the Crux back. AJ NO APOLOGY. NO OFFER TO PAY FOR ADDITI
Pros:
Cons: Does not include "Speed Pulse Wire" Steering wheel "Program" button only toggles in one direction.

restores factory steering wheel controls
Michael from Fremont, CA on 6/12/2017
2006 Chevrolet Silverado 1500
The kit works great! I had a couple of problems while installing the kit making the factory steering wheel controls functional. First, you have to plug in the RCA jack into the back of the radio and the other side to the interface. the direction says that you use this cable for a wired remote. I did not know that this was the cable that makes the steering wheel controls function with the radio. Second, you have to select a couple of switches according to what radio you are installing. The directions said for my application turn switch one on and the rest off. The controls did not work. When I changed the switches to switch one off and the rest to on, the factory steering wheel controls functioned properly.
Pros: restores factory steering wheel controls
Cons: Parts of the directions were not cl ear.
