If you have a basic truck with no fancy features (no Alpine or rear steering wheel audio controls), this works great. FYI, this will set the "Lost comm with radio" codes in several modules, but none of these codes will throw a check engine light

Nice unit to hook up to provide power for a stereo but still no speakers the instructions talk about a white colored factory harness plug but this trucks different it's not white it's gray kind of vague on the instructions

Easy to connect

This kit contained 2 plug connectors. One is for the 1st generation and the second is for 2nd generation. They are easy to wire to the after market radio because of the color coding. Make sure you read the foot notes on the instructions. Compare the plug on the vehicle with the adaptor plug with kit and you'll know which to use .

Nothing wrong with it, but is it really needed?

There's nothing inherently wrong with the Crux unit for my 2008 Grand Cherokee, it's just that it really isn't needed. As this unit definitely does not maintain steering wheel control functionality (I instead used the Crux SWRCR-59 for that, which worked wonderfully), the only real benefits of using this are 1) it adds the ignition switched power source that the 2008 Grand Cherokee is lacking in the vehicle harness, and 2) it has the proper harness end to simply plug into the vehicle side. To solve #1, a dedicated wire could have just been run to an ignition-sourced wire in the vehicle, and to solve #2 a module isn't needed - one could just purchase a less expensive adapter harness. Again, all things considered, there's nothing really wrong with this Crux unit, it's that I question the cost/benefit of it.

Wire for wire perfect match in my 2010 Jeep Commander with Boston Acoustics system. Had slight issue with only having front speakers, so I called tech support and they walked me through it. Turns out, my deaf ass couldn't hear my rear speakers playing until I climbed back in back to hear them. Oh well. Works perfectly. Couldn't be more happier

Buy it.

As soon as I got it, I wired it up to my radios harness. I will say I was confused for a minute just trying to figure out which one to use. It comes with 2 for different harness's for a different application. Other wise it's great! The online help I received was great, where you could actually talk to a person and describe exactly what you need and serve it up!

you probably don't need this

Sending this back along with a garbage radio and install kit that didnt fit. Bought this on Crutchfield's recommendation for a 2014 base caravan with the 4 speaker system. I come to find out that all it does is provide a power source that turns off with the key and nothing else. If you don't have a factory amp, you don't need this overpriced piece of junk. All you need is a jumper from the fuse box or another source of keyed accessory power. I'd also like to note that tech support was unable to provide a solution, was rude, and ultimately hung up on me. Shame on you Crutchfield. You used to be a decent company but not any more.

A Must Have Kit

This is a well thought out wiring kit. The one thing that could have been addressed for my truck was the small factory 10 pin plug is not used. I had to do a lot of research to learn that myself. I get it though, my Ram is 15 years old, so many might not care to have all the answers. You can see the smaller plug hanging next to the larger one. If you have a 2009 Ram 2500...Just tuck it away.

I think this is worthless . I have a dodge Ram 2006 . The only controls on my steering wheel are cruise control . So for me what is the box doing . So if it's for that it was unnecessary. I would love for someone to explain why I needed this .

No Crux for my Jeep with its Infinity Factory Amp

The postage was lightning-fast, and the packaging was top-notch. The instructions were clear as day. But, alas, when I hooked everything up, my front and dash tweeter speakers sang beautifully while the rear and soundbar speakers decided to take a snooze. I was determined to solve the mystery, so I reread the instructions and scoured every Jeep and Mopar forum known to humanity. No luck. So I swallowed my pride and called customer service, and I got the most brilliant guys (Jac, Caesar, and Adam). They were incredibly helpful, patient and fun. After admitting defeat, Caesar suggested I contact Crux to see if they could reset the interface box. This was the golden ticket advice! Jesse from Crux was fantastic, patiently explaining that the interface just doesn't get along with Jeep's Infinity Factory Amp. I knew that amp was trouble from the start! So, no Crux magic for my 2009 Jeep Wrangler. The product itself had simple instructions and Crux's customer service was stellar. It was just my temperamental factory amp that refused to cooperate.

The manufacturer had poor quality soldiers on the amplified/non amplified module mine came with one wire not connected. Luckily I was able bypass it, I didn't have a factory amplifier.

It works but IM not 100% sure its needed

Makes it straightforward to wire up an aftermarket head unit without cutting into your factory harness. That being said, I'm honestly not sure exactly what it does. My truck is pretty basic and had no amp, steering wheel controls, factory GPS or anything else extra. I drove my truck a bit without any radio and noticed no loss of any functions or alerts so not sure I couldn't have just used the basic adapter harness that came with my dash kit but they told me I needed it so I bought it. And I cant verify the interface is the problem but if I try to listen to the radio with the key in the ACC position, it activates the backup camera but other than that, everything works as it should.

I'm guessing that this interface was over kill for my application,I only needed the 2 power,ground,and speaker wires,would have been a lot easier than stuffing all those wires and the module in the dash,but it works fine.

We're sorry for the problem and frustration with the CRUX harness, Mike. Because of this review, our Vehicle Integration guru Darren reached out to CRUX about similar issues some Dodge owners had experienced. The good news is CRUX has now solved this issue, and a customer can now perform an update to resolve it. We're also updating our incoming inventory, so that the latest firmware will be loaded onto these adapters. Until that time, Darren also included update instructions for our Tech Advisors to help future Dodge owners download the update.

This was the exact harness that I needed for my 2007 dodge charger with amplifier! The radio shop wanted to charge $190 for the harness and I found it on here for less than half of that! Works great and arrived fast! Highly recommend!

External Amp?? DONT USE "Amplified"

This much for something that could have you playing 50% of your new setup. The amplified/non-amplified filter piece: What the heck? No description other than a vague 'will work with factory amplified or no amplified head unit.' My first thought was to run the amplified pin connector as I am running thru an external amplifier (Kenwood X802-5). My set up sounded pretty amazing relative to a new headunit with new speakers. I was pushing the sound on my new JL c1s and Tw3. Then noticed less sound. My rear speakers stopped working. Thought I blew them. Then realized the HPF on my rear speaker channel from the head unit was controlling the sub?? Instead of my sub channel? Thought I was out a pair of speakers on top of an unusual problem. Nope... just needed to switch the four pin connector to non-amplified. I feel I probably fried what ever filter or circuitry was in that "amplified" option hence no rear speaker sound. My headunit was running a bit hot as well and the day before when setting gains I probably initially overstepped since the filter was already attenuating my rears a bunch. So that's a bit sketch. It works now and my system has me grinning ear to ear. Loud and CLEAR! However; to possibly jeopardize your new investments components because of withheld information about a some kind of filter? Thank you other reviewers for the suggestion.

I normally just do my on cutting and splicing but this time I tried this option and ill say this, it's worth paying for this pre made "custom" wire harnesses. Cuts down on the install time, neatly made, and plug and play.

There were labels for Gen 1, Gen 2 and Gen 4 on the wiring harness, but I (of course) have a Gen 3. Fortunately only one fits so it's pretty hard to mess it up.

Issues with the audio filter.

I had some isuues with thevrear channel filter and have to remove it from the wiring. On the rear speakers the mid range audio was being filtered, e.g. couldn't hear the singer's voice in songs.

2012 Ram 1500

Paid the extra for Crutchfield's ready harness service well worth it all I had to do is run the parking brake wire and plug in simple and easy. Crutchfield's staff is very helpful and they know there products to make stereo install simple and easy.

The interface works fairly well, but don't trust the labels.

This was the second one that I bought. After installing the first one I was not receiving any sound from my sub and thought that perhaps the interface was not working. After I opened this second one I looked over the site for more information and found the answer in a picture. In the small text saying "If you get no sound switch the four pin connector to the other port. We have seen the labels put on in the wrong direction." When I switched to the connector labeled without an amp the sound worked fine. Both of the units that I bought had the label on backwards. There are several comments on Crutchfield and other sites saying for better sound quality that I should remove the factory amp and replace the speakers, but I haven't been able to find any instructions on how to do that. I've already replaced the radio & sub and have an amp for it. I'm just trying to figure out how much it will cost to replace all of the other speakers.
