James from Puyallup, WA on 9/7/2023
This replaced a PL 400 I bought new in 1980 (fully automatic). It's a learning curve remembering to get up at the end of the side. The T1 is very well made and sounds great. The walnut plinth looks awesome. New vinyl sounds especially good. from a design standpoint I would have liked it better if the cover didn't have the logo on the cover (that's just me nitpicking).

Fantastic turntable!
John from Jamaica Plain, MA on 6/13/2023
The Pro-ject T1 is real game-changer for those who want 'up their turntable game'. Nothing extraneous about the design, simple sleek, elegant, the priority being the astounding result in sound quality. It comes with the Ortofon OM5E already mounted and calibrated, so the setup is extremely minimal (also comes with specially designed phono cables and detachable cover)-literally took me about 10-minutes to get it out of the box and onto my shelf, connected to the receiver, ready to go. Can't do better for the price. Love it.
Pros: Great sound, beautiful appearance, easy setup.
Cons: Switching to 45 rpm (which I do rarely, if at all) requires moving the belt to a different pulley (takes about a minute). Totally manual, which I like, but others may not.

I bought this turntable for my second system. It was from the outlet "Scratch and Dent" with only a bent finger lift, witch I fixed and setting the counter weight to 17.5. I love the sound dynamic range and openness of the sound field.

Sold on Pro-Ject
Christian from Tampa, FL on 3/9/2023
When I unfortunately had to return a Marley Turntable despite the excellent troubleshooting help from Tech Support, it was obvious that I invest a bit extra and purchase the T1 for my son to help feed his growing passion for vinyl listening. As I already own a Pro-Ject Debut myself, I knew the quality & worksmanship that they place into their turntables. The T1 boasts a solid construction, nice platter and tone are with a nice woodgrain look but the returned player to shame. With much of the tone arm settings done at the factory and the rest of the setup straightforward, it was an easy setup for my son without requiring any assistance from me. I shortly received an ecstatic text about how incredible his Jack Johnson vinyl sounded.

I wanted a simple manual turntable with no Bluetooth or preamp that has good sound quality and looks. This fits the bill perfectly. Setup was simple, sounds great, looks great, no issues at all. It played all my records flawlessly, the stylus tracks perfectly.

Excellent table with a few solvable issues
Steve from Madison, MS on 7/21/2022
Overall, I am really enjoying this turntable. The audio quality exceeded my expectations. The Ortofon cartridge has a nice balance and very low distortion. A few issues to be aware of--1) the feet (only three of them) are very slick and the turntable slides around easily when simply turning on the power. I had to put down some non-slip cabinet liners to stabilize it. 2) the dust cover becomes very difficult to open after a week or so; the hinges start to bind and creak loudly. A cardboard shim and a little lubricant fixed this problem. 3) the most disappointing--The preset non-adjustable anti-skate seems too low. The stylus frequently slides across the lead-in grooves into the first few seconds of music. Also some intermittent skipping (very rarely) occurred on tracks close to the center (especially records with long running times and loud mastering, or warped or off-center records). I increased the VTF to 2.0, the suggested maximum for the OM5e cartridge, and this seems to have solved the skipping problem on tracks close to center. However, the stylus still frequently slides across the lead-in grooves, so I cue down the cartridge before I start the platter (just like I did as a DJ at WMYQ in the eighties :-) . I thought about returning it, but a few home remedies have made this an enjoyable table, especially for the price.
Pros: excellent sound quality low distortion easy to set up attractive
Cons: needs non-slip feet poor design of dust cover hinges anti-skate too low

Wonderful turntable! Easy to set up. Looks great and compliments my new audio system. The included cartridge makes even my older vinyl sound better. I like the fact that I can tighten the dust cover so it stays where I put it. Pro-Ject makes a quality product! Crutchfield custom care is great and they shipped it fast. What else can you ask for?

Pro-Ject T1
Crutchfield customer from Kingman, AZ on 7/24/2021
I thought I had convinced myself that Vinyl Records could never compete with CD's for sound quality, but I was wrong. I needed a new preamp (NAD) which happened to be equipped with phono inputs. So I thought why not try a turntable. Then I ordered this one. Wow, I cannot believe how much turntables have improved. It tracks old and new records perfectly and therefore sounds great. I am enjoying listening to records again and now I understand why vinyl continues to be so popular.
Pros: Recommended for many hours of listening pleasure.
Cons: None.

Intersection of price/feature/value $$
Crutchfield customer from Hopkins, MN on 4/26/2021
It's a really nice, but basic, turntable that occupies an interesting spot in terms of price/feature/value. Mine is new enough that I still need to dial a few things in -- minor stuff like how the dust cover swings -- and just becoming comfortable with a little side on-off switch and a very light-feeling tone arm. The glass platter is heavy and in combination with the factory installed Ortofon cartridge, the bass response absolutely rips.

Disappointed
Crutchfield customer from Lockport, NY on 4/25/2021
I do not like to rip on units in reviews. I do not consider myself an audio-phile because I don't have those bionic ears like some people seem to have. This unit is basically one of those "You get what you pay for". I am probably going to send this back and spend just a little bit more money to get something nicer. I would not recommend or purchase this again. Right out of the box it is disappointing and maybe I just can't get over this feeling. I simply cannot see this lasting for more than a couple of years
Pros: Easy to set up. The RCA cables on the back seem pretty good quality. The sound is not bad but not fantastic either in my opinion
Cons: Seems very cheaply made. Slides around too much anytime you I have to turn it on and off etc.

Easy setup, beautiful sound
Crutchfield customer from Nashville, TN on 1/28/2021
So pleased with this turntable, the definition and clarity is great without sacrificing fullness in the low end. The factory-set tonearm balance was perfect. I have a couple records that skipped terribly on our old turntable that play flawlessly on the T1. One note, in the item picture there is a speed control button shown, but on the T1 there is no speedbox, it's a manual belt change.

Very Satisfied with Purchase.
Crutchfield customer from San Marcos, CA on 1/24/2021
I have been looking at options for a long time and did not want to spend a lot. This turntabe is well built and performs quite well. I also purchased a pair of speakers and am using an old retired Pioneer elite receiver and an auxiliary pre-amp. Have been storing boxes of records for a very long time, it's been a lot of fun going through and listening to them. Sounds great, came all setup and ready to go. Very happy with this purchase. RCA and power cables come pre-attached. You will need a phono input or pre-amp.
Pros: Easy to setup. Solid build, sounds great.
Cons: None for me. Researched a lot of different options and got exactly what I expected.

Nice sound and good looks
Crutchfield customer from Salisbury, NC on 1/21/2021
About 17 years ago I was pressured by my now ex-wife to sell my collection of close to 1000 vinyl records as well as my turntable. This fall I decided to buy a turntable and some new discs. So I bought cheap audio technica turntable. Mistake. Sounded bad and no volume. So I finally got some education and chose this Pro-ject turntable. It's beautiful and my new music sounds great. I highly recommend this for anyone, but especially to those just getting ready buy LPs. I'm very pleased.

The build quality is a little cheap but they say pro ject is fantastic. The motor starts up a little slow when you first turn it on. I was rather disappointed that when I opened it I found out that the rca cables are fixed and attached and it was supposed to be just an rca connector so I could use my own cables. I may be sending this one back.
Pros: Pro ject name
Cons: No rca connection little noisy cheap build.

I got this turntable for my son for Christmas. It's got a lot of the same parts as my turntable that cost twice as much. Ordering was easy, delivery was fast. It was already assembled but included cartridge alignment and weight setting tools in case you ever change out the cartridge. Cables are very nice.
Pros: Easy to use, nice entry level turntable. Seems to be high quality. Very cool looking (I got the white one).
Cons: Nothing I can think of at this price point except maybe if your amp doesn't have a phono input having to get a phono preamp.

After retiring my decades old Technics I landed on Pro-ject due to the tech, look, and cartridge. I was not disappointed! First album played was Cat Steven's Tea for the Tillerman, followed by Nina Simone. The warmth of sound and vibrancy is there. Full concept is to integrate the Pro-ject w/ a vintage reel to reel for an analog media room. I will be turning to Crutchfield for their expertise.

Noisy and cheap. Disappointing since I was pulled off an already purchased Audio-Technica by a Crutchfield rep. Spent over $1500. For a small superb system to play analog vinyl and the Pro-Ject was the cheapest component.
Pros: Plays records.
Cons: Noisy belt drive.

My new turntable

Cons: None that I can think of.

Sound is great with incredibly easy setup. Dust cover required some adjustment to sit flush, and the edge material on the plinth makes it feel a bit cheaper than expected. Happy with it overall for a good start down the audio path.
Pros: Platter feels great Tone arm feels high quality Lowering action is smooth Feet remove tons of vibration, especially that of my 70lbs dog running
Cons: Needs more refined edge material Accuracy in lid construction Nothing audio related to mention in cons
