Parasound Zamp v.3

This amp solved a specific problem for me. I'd been using a single integrated amp to power two sets of bookshelf speakers using a Niles speaker selector. When I got an NAD C700 to replace the other integrated, that wasn't an option (according to NAD, when the speaker terminals are red and blue, you shouldn't use a speaker selector). So I got a time-tested Parasound Zamp v.3 and connected it to the C700's preamp output. Voila! I set the gain on the back of the Zamp for the best balance with the main speaker pair, then control the master volume with the C700, usually using my phone. The speakers sound much more full and responsive now. And the Zamp just works... turns on when it senses signal and goes into 1-watt standby when idle. Set it and forget it!

Perfect for desktop

Perfect for an audiophile desktop. I use this with KEF LS50's, a Schiit Lyr pre/Dac, a Hsu sub, and BitPerfect on my Mac. It sounds fantastic, even compared to Sonus Faber or Magnepan setups I have/had in the living room. This produced noticeably better sound than my old Marantz amp, and 45W is plenty for desktop. If you're thinking it's not worth the money for mere desktop sound, it all depends on your budget, but in my case it's brought huge joy to a space where I spend many hours a day. Consider KEFs, since the concentric design avoids problems you otherwise have with nearfield listening, as woofer and tweeter are then far apart relative to listening position. The auto-on is really useful since it means you can hide this thing behind a desk, but on the other hand the implementation is imperfect (I have the same problem with their A21)-the threshold is too high, meaning you have to crank the volume momentarily to trigger auto-on, but it's only a minor annoyance. I don't get any popping. There's also a lot of flexibility here, with bridged mono-mode possible, and loop outs for another amp. I just connect this to the sub with speaker-level wires; you can insert banana plugs for the speakers and insert screw-in wires for the sub.

Another Parasound Gem

This is my 2nd Parasound amp. I was introduced to Parasound with the A21+ and it is awesome. I was building a small system for the bedroom with bookshelf speakers and wanted something with a small footprint and didn't want to sink a lot of money. This definitely fits that criteria. Easily powers some bookshelf speakers. I'm feeding the amp with a Raspberry Pi and Allow Boss DAC hat for the Pi. Pretty awesome for a cheap system. Don't let the size and price fool you this is still a very solid product with a pretty high value for the price.
