Want Real Audio with WAF? These are it.

I have been stuck with soundbars due to a difficult family room for years. Our tv is mounted over a mantel in the corner of the room on a special mount that can automatically lower and rotate the tv, which means I need an lcr setup that can travel with the tv. I finally gave this a shot (along with super sat 3 surrounds and an svs 3000 micro sub) and I'm so glad I did. The 3d effect isn't huge, but if setup correctly does occasionally surprise me (more on that at the end). Beyond that, the quality of the sound these put out is so much better than the Sonos arc (which itself isn't bad). Sure, it can't beat my office setup with Kef R3 Metas, but it's closer than it should be. If you are stuck needing a soundbar and want to reclaim audiophile quality, this is the one to try. Setup note: these need to be crossed over at 120hz, so you need a sub that can handle that. The 3d crosstalk effect will also mess with room corrections, but I found a trick. According to the manufacturer, the effect is accomplished by the outside opposite driver canceling the l/r audio in a special way. So the trick I employed was to hold up a heavy blanket in front of the left drivers when the right is being measured, and then do the opposite when the left is being measured. You can also set Audessy to L/R bypass, but then you lose room correction on them. I also found limiting room correction to below 500hz was ideal in my room. Hope that helps. These have brought joy back to movies in my house.

SuperCinema 3D XL
Harry from Colorado Spgs, CO on 2/4/2024
This passive LCR speaker is arguably one of the best on the market. Admittedly, it's a bit on the pricey side. However, it delivers in spades!! The range, clarity and channel separation make it sound like you have individual LCR speakers. The soundstage, spatially, reaches far beyond the footprint of the speaker. I'm driving it with a Yamaha RX-A3070 and vinyl, CDs, compressed audio and movies have never sounded so good. The 3D tech really compliments my 7.1 system. Amazing product!!!
Pros: Audiophile quality, Small footprint (vs individual LCR speakers), 3D sound, channel separation
Cons: Passive speaker (an issue if you don't have amp/receiver), high-end individual LCR speakers would still probably sound better (this speaker may become a value proposition at that price point!!)

Very high quality ... another GoldenEar Home Run
Edward from RAPID CITY, SD on 12/12/2021
Great qaulity, sounds is perfect for my needs. I have this XL paired with an 82", could not be happier. The sheer length of the XL gives you good separation between L/R speakers. I especially like that it utilizes an external amp/receiver to drive the L/C/R and just has nice 5-way binding posts on the back. Not really a sound bar so much as it is just a very nice speaker array ... GoldenEar designed, I think they hit another one out of the park. This XL anchors my upstairs media / gaming area as I've paired it with a GoldenEar Force Field 3 subwoofer, and a pair of Aon 2s to make a very nice 5.1 system. Don't think about it, just get it, you won't regret it. Very highly recommended.

Truly Stunning Sound Quality
Brendan from Briarcliff Manor, NY on 12/10/2021
I would give this soundbar more than 5 stars if I could. As a longtime user of Polk LSiM speakers, which I still love and use, but no longer in my living room setup, I am totally blown away by the GolderEar SuperCinema® 3D Array® XL. I am running this soundbar with three Outlaw monoblock amps attached to my Denon home theater receiver, along with a Rythmik subwoofer, in a large, open room with an 18 foot vaulted ceiling, and the soundstage is jaw-dropping. My first listen -- a lossless version of Cycle and Morning from Beck's Morning Phase, through Roon via my Oppo UDP-203, gave me literal goosebumps. Same when I put on Some Things Never Change from Frozen II, and We Know the Way from Moana (my kids' favorites). Sitting with eyes closed, there was nothing to suggest that the room-filling sound was coming from a soundbar centered under the TV. In the age of powered, do-everything soundbars, this passive soundbar can easily take the place of your tower speakers. I will also add that when I contacted GoldenEar to ask a question, I received a prompt, detailed, personal response (within half an hour!). GoldenEar is a smaller company, and I really hope that people give them the support they deserve. Others may have more name recognition, but this is truly a special speaker. Give GoldenEar some love.
Pros: Wife-approved aesthetics; gigantic soundstage; mind-blowing quality for the price.
Cons: None that I have encountered so far.
