Alpine's HCE-C125 rear-view cam lets you back up with confidence, instead of pushing your luck. Measuring about one cubic inch, this ice-cube sized camera pairs stealthily with Alpine's low-key KTX-C10LP license plate mounting kit to give you a 131º horizontal viewing angle on the world behind you. Thanks to its automatic imaging function, this camera intuitively adjusts white balance, showing you a crisp, bright mirror image, day or night. With a view this expansive and clear, you'll dare to parallel park in spaces most people would avoid. In some cities, that's a super power.

This camera is compatible with any in-dash receiver or front-mount screen with a composite video input.

Note: A rear-view camera provides an additional view when reversing your vehicle. It is intended to be used in conjuction with your rear- and side-view mirrors to give a fuller picture of what's behind you. It is not intended as a replacement for your mirrors.

Features

Rearview Camera: The rearview camera assists you (the driver) in checking behind your vehicle by sending images to your vehicle's in-dash monitor, showing conditions behind the car. The camera uses a wide-angle lens, therefore, there is a difference in distance perspective between what is normally seen and what appears on the screen. Also, the images shown by the camera are reversed, so as to appear the same as what is seen through the rearview mirror. The Alpine rearview camera offers the following additional features.

  • Weatherproof housing
  • 1/3.7" color CMOS image sensor with a 4:3 aspect ratio
  • 640 x 480 (300,000) effective pixels
  • 131° horizontal viewing angle, 103° vertical viewing angle
  • Illumination Range of 1.5 lx to 100,000 lx
  • F=1.34 focal length
  • F=1:2.2 brightness
Note: This rearview camera is meant as a back-up aid only; never solely rely on the rearview camera when backing-up. In addition to using the rearview camera, always look behind you to make sure everything is clear when backing up your vehicle.

Compatibility: The HCE-C125 rearview camera can be used with Alpine multimedia & navigation receivers which feature a proprietary multi-pin camera input, as well as Alpine & other brands of receivers with a composite video camera input.

  • Proprietary Harness: If you are connecting an Alpine receiver with a proprietary camera input, then use the included 23' harness with proprietary multi-pin connectors on each end (you will not use the composite video harness).
  • Composite Video Harness: If you are connecting an Alpine or other brand of receiver with a composite video jack, you will use both the 23' proprietary harness and the 9.5' composite video harness.

Optional License Plate Mount Kit: The HCE-C125 rearview camera is compatible with Alpine's KTX-C10LP rearview camera license plate mounting kit (500KTXC10L, sold separately). 

Optional Multi-Camera Selector Interface: The optional Alpine KCX-C250MC Multi-Camera Selector Interface (500KCXC250, sold separately) allows as many as three camera systems (Front, Rear, & Side) to be connected to and controlled from select Alpine in-dash navigation receivers.

Does this camera need to set at a certain angle from the ground? Right now mine it close to 45°. Good coverage but wondering if there is a suggested / recommended angle.

It has such a wide angle that it really doesn't have to be tilted much at all. I mounted mine just above center of my spare tire in my Jeep and it's angled down slightly. Has great visability.

Not in my experience. Ultimately, the angle you set it at is up to your preference, keeping in mind that the idea is to give you a clear view of what is behind your vehicle

Good question. I bottomed out mine. I installed it on a SUV. So, I needed it to be bottomed out. I guess it depends on the vehicle you are installing the camera on. Hope that helps...

It has three connections - RCA video out, power & ground. So if your head unit accepts an RCA cable, then it should work.

Been awhile since I pulled my radio out but I do believe it same video plug as stock to swap out and you'll have hook up power and ground and the backup switch wire but it would work with the factory deck

I see the Alpine HCE-125 comes with a power unit. Do I need to use this, or can I just bypass it and connect it directly to the cigarette lighter? It looks like the same 12 volts the vehicle uses.

Not sure the box is really a "power unit." Looks more like a way to split the cable that comes from the camera into three wires - RCA video out, switched power and ground. All three should connect behind your head unit and there's plenty of cable, so there's no need to tap a cigarette lighter.

Does this camera auto function when truck goes in reverse?

The head unit controls this, not the camera. The camera connects to RCA video out (to head unit), switched power and ground. The head unit connects to the backup wire. So the camera should be sending a video signal whenever the ignition is on, and the head unit displays it when the reverse light is on.

It will automatically display on your head unit if it is powered from the reverse power signal. Either hook it up to the reverse light on your tail light, tow connection or the switch on your transmission. Typically the camera and the head unit are both hooked up to this power signal so when the car or truck is placed in reverse, the image displays on the head unit screen.

Yes, you can. The unit's backup camera has a dedicated RCA input. There is a second video input as well (mini AV with a unique jack configuration - see the iLX-107 installation guide). You may have to cut apart and rewire a mini AV plug to match Alpine's configuration (use a multimeter continuity test to verify wires). I'm using a stereo plug instead of an AV plug, which also works if you don't need a second video source.

It has guidance lanes. How will you mount it? I used alpines license plate frame that holds that camera and the holes didnt line up with the camera. I would not purchase from alpine again. It is overprized for what you get. Very dissapointed in the quality control.
