Alpine HDZ-653

Will need to talk to tech support as one of the capacitors has blown out of one of the crossovers I am running them through a HDA V90 that's only 75 watts a channel I would like to run them on the HDA F60 at 100 watts but they probably would ignite and burn my truck up 1,000.00 bucks is a lot for a set of 3 ways and T that price you would think they would last longer than a week or two . At this point I'm not happy but man they was kicking up until that point . I have two sets front and back and bought the F60 to run both of them off of . I also bought the 16 channel dsp the one without the amp on board I've got a small fortune in this system this is the second set to go out the original fronts have yet to fell and they are 3 years old (knock on wood), but hey what do you do get another set . lol one set out of three is not a good track record and if it was the end user you would think the fronts would have gave trouble just a thought . Clean and clear

These speakers are amazingly clear, the clarity is what I felt I was missing in my system. I listen to metal and just felt that things just got muddy when things got fast with most speakers I had listen to. These hdz are perfect and handle what ever I listen to. I have these running full active on the Alpine hdpd90. I had morel before, loved those too, but went for an upgrade and thought having the Alpine Hu and DPS/amp I should try their speakers and I'm happy I did.

Great Full Sound

I heard these speakers in a guys car and they sounded awesome, probably the best 3-way set under $1k around. Setting these up to run ACTIVE is NOT "Rocket Science". Any experienced Tuner will be able to do it in minutes with a decent DSP program. I did NOT use the Crossover Frequencies recommended by by 3-way Manufacturer, I did use it as a starting point, but since every car and installation is different, you probably don't want to use the recommended crossover points...

Really Alpine?!!

Disappointed so far with Alpine USA. Not with Crutchfield. Purchased this set and I am looking to run them active. No crossover points or frequency response provided in the manual for each speaker. Called Alpine USA tech support for information. They said "if you decide to go active you are on your own" and would not provide any information. I asked "why would alpine sell a 12 channel amp with DSP if they don't expect you to use them in an active set up? So alpine wants us to buy the amp with DSP and use the passive crossovers?" Technician said "no that's not what we are saying. We are saying that if you are going active you should already know what to set them at." When I bought the JL C7 3 way components they provided all this information. Same with Focal. Had I known alpine was like this with their higher end product I would have went another direction. I'll update this once I get everything set up to let you know how they sound.

Exceptional Hi res sound

Bought two sets of these for my Porsche Cayenne Turbo build , I love everything about these 3 way components from the carbon fiber cones , to the top shelf cross overs with plenty of adjustment options and levels , the tweeters are built like tanks at just over 2" in diameter , feed these some respectable clean power and I was taken back with how well these performed out of the box with minimal tuning!
