Alpine Restyle i407-WRA-JK

The installation went easily. I had issues with getting the Maestro to connect to the Jeep. The Maestro support had me check the 2 white connections on the back of the Alpine console. They have the same connection and color code. I switched the cables, and I now have full capabilities.

Upgraded Jeep
Matthew from SAN ANTONIO, TX on 2/12/2025
2015 Jeep Wrangler
Purchased for 2015 Jeep Wrangler. Easy install all the connectors are different so hard to make a mistake. Some screen glare from low on the horizon sun. Great clarity and highs. Not much bass. Needs amp or subwoofer. Ordered the restyle kit for the Jeep and sirius module. Maestro works excellent once programmed. Mimics factory steering controls and no errors. Had sirius on factory unit so just connected into existing antenna and works great. I can get sirius stations that I couldn't get with factory unit (300's). Couple notes on install. You do NOT need to completely cut the top bar as noted. Use a box cutter and carefully trim about 1/8 inch off the bottom (basically at the seam) and radio slides in. I attached some Velcro to the maestro and sirius modules and stuck them on the sides to get out of the way. With the Alpine amp and bracket there are alot of wires back there so nice to get them out of the way. Unit does get hot but so far no issues in south Texas heat. Other issue is the volume controls and mute while placed in a drivers side convenient location, are way too small for a bouncy Jeep. Would have preferred a knob. But since the steering controls work great, those are used more often. Touchscreen functions perfect. Kep the factory screen cover on to protect against scratches. Would be nice to have a better screen cover. Paired easily with iphone.
Pros: Clarity, Ease of Connections, looks Great, fit perfect, Touchscreen works Great, Maestro seamless integration
Cons: Volume controls too small for Jeep Needs amp for upper Bass

Not deserving of Restyle line.

Not at all happy with the idea of a Jeep Restyle kit not supporting the KAC-001. I would suggest looking into the iLX-507, with i207-WRA front and rear brackets (the updated front brackets are the same as the i407-WRA-JK kit) with Maestro RR and you get a way better package for less.
Pros: Crutchfield Return policy, very customizable home screen (way better than the newer iLX-507)
Cons: No KAC-001 support.

Easy install

Super easy install, follow the directions and everything just works. Not sure why they opted to make the bezel shiny piano black, it takes away from the factory look I wanted. That was the biggest complaint I had. I would have liked more bands in the EQ but it as advertised and in a soft top wrangler, it's probably sufficient. The amp hooking to the back is a great feature and saves trying muck around mounting it up. I changed all the factory speakers, head unit, and added the amp in a very short Saturday afternoon. Really a nice job by Alpine, why they didn't keep it a factory matte finish boggles my mind.

Love it

2018 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited (JK)
I love this thing! CarPlay is very nice to have, looks good and sounds great. Installing the head unit was completely plug and play. There are some very helpful videos online that took the guesswork out of installation. I will say adding a sub was a must. My jeep didn't come with a sub so I added an under seat model and that made a gigantic difference to the sound quality. Overall very happy
Pros: Sound quality, plug and play, CarPlay
Cons: Pricey, can get the ILX 407 non JK edition for a lot less but that isn't plug and play

Alpine Restyle i407-WRA-JK

2017 Jeep Wrangler
I have been looking for a replacement head unit for my 2017 Jeep Wrangler. This Alpine unit, and I have been an Alpine fan for decades now, definitely fits the bill. Installation is very straightforward. Everything is plug and play and this is a huge improvement over the stock head unit. Alpine has a video on YouTube which walks through the entire installation process.
Pros: Easy to use, sounds great, tons of options including time correction.
Cons: It would be ideal if the Apple CarPlay was wireless

OK for the Money

I had the premium sound system in my Wrangler before buying this. It had good sound but the process for updating the navigation was horrible so I wanted Apple car play, thus the investment in this radio. The Apple car play works great and the HD radio is better than the OEM premium sound. Some of the other features have been a tad glitchy. I had no subwoofer after installing this radio. A call to customer support gave me a lead but did not solve my problem which I discovered was the crossover from the factory basically cut out my low frequencies going to my OEM amplifier. After taking the crossover out of play I now have my subwoofer back. So, other nit - this is supposedly made for the JK. I dont know of any JK with a gloss black dash so why does Alpine give you gloss black filler plates on the mounting brackets. It makes for an obvious mismatch and that you have an aftermarket receiver. I still have to install the rear view camera so I dont know about that feature yet. All in all I'm satisfied but far from blown away by this radio given the cost of it.

GREAT Add-on!

Love this Radio! One of the best (of many) upgrades I've added to my 2014 JK. Install was not too bad, but reading the directions helps a lot. Still need to wire the Front and Rear cameras, so cannot speak to that aspect. However, my hands-free sounds great (I am told by those I call). Not sure how well it will work topless, so we'll see come spring.
Pros: -Nice screen -Great features -Sounds great -Apple play works really well
Cons: -Audio for iphone navagation does not work when on XM -Waze interface while driving lags badly

Great head unit from Alpine

Great head unit and was easy to install in my 2012 Jeep JKU. Crutchfield has awesome customer service and was available to answer my questions and offer solutions. My only improvement to the head unit would be to make the Apple CarPlay and Android Auto wireless.
Pros: Easy to install. Great sound. Adds a OBD2 connection and pulls up vehicle info on screen.
Cons: CarPlay is not wireless

Not the quality I expected
Crutchfield customer from AMERICAN FORK, UT on 9/24/2022
2013 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited
Bought this for my 2013 Jeep Wrangler so I could add a backup camera and Apple Carplay. The unit itself has a lot of glitches. For example: you can't turn off the audio in the background you can only turn off the display. I finally learned to select the auxiliary setting if I didn't want music or static in the background while using maps in CarPlay. The required parking brake wiring attempt was a joke and i ended up buying a bypass unit which I recommend. The backup camera I bought works very well so not all is lost and it the CarPlay is a nice upgrade from the factory U-connect. The final irritation is the screen. It's high glare and appears washed out. I absolutely hate the screen and it is this issue alone that will cause me to replace this unit when I am able. Overall I regret purchasing this unit but I love Crutchfield and will buy again from them when i do replace it.
Pros: CarPlay was a good upgrade for my JK The backup camera feature works very well
Cons: Very glitchy unit Terrible screen quality

An absolute must...the best upgrade to my 2016 4-door JKU to date. I waited a couples years to decide wether I really wanted to upgrade my stereo because if it's not broke why fix it right? Definitely not...after years of my family complaining about the stock Uconnect system when on phone calls with me and using someone else's car with car play I finally splurged and can't believe I didn't do it sooner. I bought it with the SiriusXM SXV300V1 tuner and the install was a breeze for the most part, really just cutting the one spot in the dash scared me and then just. running wires where I wanted them but didn't take long at all! Finally, this was my first time buying from Crutchfield...absolutely love them; they called to make sure that I made this purchase just incase and they were so friendly about it and made me really feel like I was an old friend.
Pros: The best is the unit is specifically made for a jeep jk so it replaced the original unit perfectly. Then the upgraded microphone for phone calls along with getting rid of the time delay when answering a phone call (waiting for Uconnect to stop announcing and connect to the call). Being able to use maps or Waze on CarPlay was really an upgrade compared to the stock unit. Overall there is no reason not to do it...the sleek clean look without buttons and knobs is the best.
Cons: I like having my screens protected and with such a nice unit in a jeep that goes through quite a lot, I wish that there was a screen protector that would give me peace of mind from accidental scratches. My response was just to leave the factory film on it in hopes that they may one day carry a protective screen.

Pros: Plays music in lots of different ways.
Cons: Have to engage parking brake to work the settings button.
