They sound amazing and was a very easy installation process with the included aftermarket speaker wires from Crutchfield.
Pros: Easy to install with full instructions on box.
Cons: Must find location for new tweeter if stock location doesn't work.

Just installed Alpine components in front and rear doors

As far as installing, the only suggestion I would make is to include wiring that ALL snaps/plugs in place. Wire for woofer fits one terminal fits but other one you have to snip the plastic wire sheathing and twist or solder. Not a big deal but easy manufacturing change for the better. Could apply same change to terminals on the crossover and tweeter wire. The manufacturing workmanship and quality of the woofer , top notch. Tweeter, also but not as obvious since It weighs a mere few ounces. Regarding the sound, I expected a little more sizzle from the tweeter and more meat in the vocal midrange from the woofer. Maybe I need to give system some break in time. Or maybe my upstream electronics are underpowered, hard to tell but I suspect so since I've had Alpine R's before and know what they can do. The lower bass levels, say 45hz and down are lacking but you shouldn't expect to get that from a 6.5" unless you're lucky enough to have a car with a sealed enclosed cavity acting like a suspension cabinet. Overall it's a nice improvement on the stock Ford sound, not a great improvement. In a few months I'll try an in-line amp, hopefully that will take me to the next level. I have no intention of adding a subwoofer, I don't like them in a car, find them annoying.

Alpine isnt what it used to be
Josh from PEVELY, MO on 12/10/2023
I'm disappointed in you alpine. For years I looked up to your products but alas twice now I've been mistaken. I had an older set of the rs65.2 and the tweeters would just scream and beat really bad. I figured alpine would listen to customer complaints and make adjustments to the new sets. But again the tweeters just can't be toned down enough. Even with the physical crossover at 0db they just never sounded right. And to my suspicion they are distorting terribly. Even with my head unit crossover at 4k they distort and scream. I'm using an audio control amp with all ofc big gauge wiring, a fiio dac and using alas files. Hi res certified my butt. The carbon weave cone material is a nice upgrade but the metallic dome tweeters just kill it for me. I've had kickers come in a couple cars I owned and they always sounded great. Alpine.. When you stopped making your speakers in Japan is when you went wrong.
Pros: The carbon weave cones are nice and give good punchy bass.
Cons: Tweeters again for three generations now are just overly harsh for no reason and literally tore themselves apart within a couple months.

They're alright. Loud enough to hear over the bass. If you're buying these, might as well get the s653. You get the extra mid size speaker. Trust me, it makes a difference.

These sound awesome in my truck. Far exceeded my expectations.
Pros: They sound great with tons of range, and they are very heavy duty so they should last a long time.
Cons: None so far.

Very happy

So far they are superior to oem, running directly off aftermarket head unit kenwood dmx706s. Wish they had 5.25 for the rear stage of my 10th gen honda civic coupe ex
Pros: Even off my headunit 50x4 they are loud and clear, no piercing tones out of the tweeters, and without any filters the woofers bang. I put crossover at 0 dB until I run a amplifier for more power
Cons: Directions say to keep black strip as negative using the extra wire sent, black striped wire becomes positive, looks like a human error for the pin connector, I cut off the ends to keep constant black strip wire as negative Crossover case is a little larger than expected, but board can be removed if needed.

Sound quality
Steve from Fontana, CA on 4/10/2023

I've owed about 8 pairs of the previous version of the alpine r2. The sound quality is magnificent. I've ordered 4 pairs of these new pro models. Will install in my wife's car this weekend and when my back order of the other two sets comes in they will go in my new truck.
Pros: Quality sound.
Cons: Price
