Sub sounds great! The best part is the speed and ease of ordering. My install company canceled my order for this sub 3 days before my install date. I then ordered straight from Crutchfield and received the sub before the install company refunded my order! Talk about speedy! Install went great and my csr sounds awesome! Thank you!

Alpines vs. JL W6s Debate Settled

Scott from CINCINNATI, OH on 9/3/2024

I was trying to solve the great JL or Alpine debate, so I purchased both and tried them out. The JL's are 12 inch W6's in the JL made ported enclosure. Both pairs were running at 1 ohm on the amp pictured. They are almost identical to the ear, the JLs have a little more presence with regards to the ultra low bass compared to the Alpines, the Alpines definitely hit harder at the low/mid. Either of these could probably be tuned to match the other. On another note, that Alpine DSP is amazing. It essentially replaces the need for a head unit. It is a little difficult to setup, but man, once you do it is amazing. The auto tune feature is nothing short of genius, no more hours and hours trying to get everything right. On the SPL side of things, they were pretty much an equal match. Sometimes the JLs were a few decimal places higher and sometimes the Alpines were; they always matched each other on the whole number. In the pictures below, the higher is the JLs. I do have videos of all of my testing, but can't upload them here. The Alpines are about $1,000 dollars less than the JL

Pros: Hard hitting bass for a reasonable price. Super hard hitting at low/mid bass. Way better bang for your buck than the JLs. These are the first non JLs I have put in a car since the 90s, so I am/was a huge JL fan.

Cons: Were just a tad less impressive than the JLs at the ultra low frequencies.

This subwoofer pairs well with my Alpine 5-channel amp and 6x9 speakers. It sounds great and is very well constructed. I am only pushing 1/4 of the neccessary power through it so I am probably not getting the best performance out of it. I definitely recommend this product.

Pros: It's big and heavy

Cons: It slides all over my trunk.

Sub great, box not so much

The subwoofer itself is great but the box is the disappointing part. The port makes a lot of unwanted air noise

Still in the break in period but the sound and depth of the bass is night and day coming from a 12 inch JL micro sub. Was on the fence about this or the JL ho box but the price won me over and I'm very satisfied. Nice build quality and it fits perfectly in the back of my telluride.

Pros: Compact. Alpine quality. Upgradable.

Cons: Wish it came with a grill over the sub.

Awesome!!

Amazing! Think of it like this: The sub alone is $350 and a decent box is $100 So $450 total. That said, you are basically paying $50 for Alpine engineers to design a box for you! Kind of a no brainer to me! This provides amazing bass at all volumes!! Crisp and clear!! Just make sure you have an Amp to support it. You won't be disappointed with this product!

Pros: Everything

Cons: None
