Great sounding little driver!

I recently installed this newer Type R 8" subwoofer into an older ported Alpine enclosure that I've had for many years. I wanted to get the most power from my Audiocontrol amplifier, so I needed a subwoofer with dual 4ohm voice coils. I have a 2024 VW GTI with the Harmon Kardon system. I have upgraded the front tweeters and center channel speaker. The R2-W8D4 is a great addition to my system. It blends in very well with the rest of the system and provides more than enough output. It has the exact sound I was looking for, punchy and clean. I have recently tried several subwoofers in my car (I have quite a few that I've kept over the years), but I did not want to loose more space in the hatch area than was necessary. This Alpine Type R sub struck the perfect balance for me when considering enclosure size, output, and sound quality. It's a great sounding driver. Another benefit is the ability to add the Alpine grill that easily integrates with the sub. I'm constantly throwing stuff in the hatch area, as can be seen from how the carpet looks in the pictures. Having a sturdy grill that fully protects the driver is a really nice option to have and one that is not often appreciated until it's actually needed.

Amazing sound!

I put two of these in my C6 Corvette. They sound amazing! I'm surprised to get such great bass out of these 8" subs. I highly recommend.

I can NOT LIE these are not joking around I am amazed. CRYSTAL CLEAR DEEP BASS DROPS TO ANYYTHING I PROMISE.
