That bass consistency, lol
B13 from St.albans Vermont on 7/3/2023
I have 2 type s12s in a dual divided sealed box, wich means each sub has its own space in one box, and they slam with consistency I've had them for a time now and they still impress me, running on a 2500 watt power acoustic amp, wich I might add is a bad ass amp for the buck I've had two now and will run almost anything
Pros: Everything about a sub is these right here, def keep up with top competitor's

A weightier sub with great punch and slam than expected.
Crutchfield customer from Skagway, AK on 9/25/2021
I bought the Alpine S-W12D4 to replace 2 Pioneer 10" shallow mount subs in my std cab older Ford truck. While the Pioneers were very clean and tight, they lacked heft in the bottom registers and my loud engine often drowned out the bass on the road. After much research considering my budget and space constraints, I tried the Alpine in a custom box of 3/4 MDF in both ported and sealed versions, behind the bench seat ultimately settling on the sealed box. The ported box hit very hard at the lowest octaves but wasn't as clean nor as dynamic as I desired. The sealed box wasn't nearly as strong down low, but was very smooth, punchy, controlled and never ran out of steam. I have a modest system with a 3 way component for the front end through a 700w 5 channel amp with 350 watts to the Alpine at 2ohms. This sub, fresh out of the box easily over powers the mids and highs except when I'm driving with a lead foot. When the engine is off, the bass has to be turned down, but cruising it brings a smile to my face. It has enhanced my musical experiences over the previous dual 10" set-up in all aspects. I have played with crossover points a lot and it plays well, in my truck, to 100hz with no troubles and it actually has very good mid bass qualities for a 12" sub, but obviously, that is not its forte. IF you are looking for a modest but punchy and strong sub you should check this one out.
Pros: Modest price Efficient for modest amp usage Good trade off with performance and box size ad amp requirements Flexible performance for ported or sealed use Moderate break in time Musical and dynamic in a sealed box Has heft and control in a sealed box Moderately small box for ideal sealed bos design Great extension in ported box Strong sub bass in ported box Moderately large ported box of ideal design
Cons: Doesnt come with a grill Could be a little bit less expensive Ported box performance could be cleaner and more dynamic Sealed box performance could be stronger at lowest octaves

Reginald from Arvada, CO on 7/4/2021
I am running two of these on a JL Audio 1000 watt amp in a ported box. Facing the trunk in my 14 Passat TDI BANGING REDICULOUS!!!! Hard to describe how perfect every bass hit is in the vehicle. Really clean sound when I play rap or rock.
Pros: Affordable, crispy and booming bass.
Cons: Haven't found any in the 2 months I've owned them.

I started out with a chat session advising the tech on specs for a box I already had. He advised that these would be a perfect fit for what I was looking for and he was right. These speakers are awesome!!!! I listen to mostly rock and it delivers!!!!
Pros: Designed for shallow installs with very little air space required.
Cons: They're badass!!!! No cons to mention.

Everything I expected

I used these to repower some 10 year old Definitive Technology BP-8080 home speakers that originally had built in subwoofers with dual passive radiators, one built in sub fried and one OEM amp quit. Replaced both subs with 2 of these and powered with a Crown 2002 amp, VERY pleased with the sound, they absolutely pound if wanted. Wired at 2 OHMS with 1000w rms to each and couldn't be happier. *be careful, they're only rated at 600w rms."
Pros: VERY good build quality. Jumper wires included, very flexible with dual 4ohm voice coils.
Cons: None

After failing with skar audio and Pioneer which burned after the 1st week of use. I found this true 600 watt rms subwoofer performance flawlessly. Never used alpine until now. Very satisfied with the subwoofer very well built and handles every watt as it should. Crutchfield has awesome shipping very fast only took 4 days to get my items to Alaska. Highly recommend Crutchfield will be buying again.
Pros: Very fast shipping/ true wattage Alpime has outstanding performance.

Sounds great. Have it paired with a Pioneer 5 channel pushing 600rms at 2ohm. The musicality is excellent which is what I was looking for. Its not the loudest woofer I've ever owned, but it makes for a great addition to this setup.

Exceeds expectations

2014 Subaru Impreza
I just installed a pair of these in my 14 Impreza. Mounted in a SKAR sk2x12v ported enclosure. Wired in a 1 OHM configuration, 800 watt Rockford Punch. Incredible sound, doesn't sound too "boomy", great depth, hits much harder, and more clearly than the Ultimax they replaced. I listen to all types of music, but primarily metal. I am very satisfied with the response of these subs. The double bass is crisp and clear, and bass drops, or when I listen to hip hop, plenty of low end. The only downside? I had to replace my license plate bracket. Still breaking them in, but I imagine they will sound better and better.
Pros: Incredible boom for the buck, easy install, free 2 day delivery from Crutchfield, exceeds expectations
Cons: None as of yet,

This thing hits just as hard as the typr R in my opinion. Be sure to get the right spec ported box and this thing knocks. 500 watt alpine amp is perfect pair. Same price as the kicker Comp R and having both now what a difference the alpine is.

this sub sounds amazing, handles the volume well, and puts out what i feel to be a very tight bass response to that very close to replicating true bass, and other low ends
Pros: reproduces deep, tight, and rolling bass very well, even some lows i wasnt expecting for its size.
Cons: cannot think of any

Blew the Voice Coil Under Minimal Power in Less Than 3 Weeks
Trevor from Terryville on 6/9/2019
This product is a pile of trash. I had it hooked up to an Alpine MRP-M1000 and had the gain turned all the way down. I only used it for about 3 weeks before the coils started smoking and in no time they uncoiled. Let this be a warning to future customers. Don't buy.
Pros: Bumps hard
Cons: Blew up in no time. Don't buy.
