PAC RP4.2-MB11 Wiring Interface
Tony from WASHOUGAL, WA on 4/17/2025
2017 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter Passenger
Worked perfect in 2017 Sprinter Passenger. We had Crutch field create the wire harness. It was plug and play. Reason for 4 stars is the camera switch. Would like a better quality or better looking one than a simple silver switch.

Needs firmware update for Metris
Gary Ross from FORT COLLINS, CO on 1/5/2025
2019 Mercedes-Benz Metris
Out of the box it only had minimal support for the Mercedes Metris (2019). I looked it up online and found an updated firmware from the manufacturer. Loaded that onto the device and all the steering wheel buttons worked great. Only thing keeping me from 5 stars is that it doesn't seem to pass on the audio information to the instrument cluster, but maybe that needs to be updated from Mercedes? On the oem unit, the instrument cluster would display audio source and song title, but with this installed it just displays a bunch of dashes, but the steering wheel buttons still change the track and work perfectly.
Pros: - Works perfectly after firmware update for Metris
Cons: - Need to update firmware if installing in a Metris - Doesn't relay information to the instrument cluster display, so the Audio menu just shows blank lines instead of the song info, but the buttons still change the songs.

Unit works perfectly, instruction material was concise along with good diagrams.
Pros: Excellent support from Crutchfield tech support and product works well.
Cons: Could have used some more explanation about what the LEDs mean and what should be expected on a fully functional unit.

Excellent Equipment
Gregory from Whitinsville, MA on 3/21/2024
2017 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter Camper Van
I used this wiring interface to replace my 2017 Sprinter's stock Audio 15 head unit with a Kenwood DMX7709S. It was needed to retain use of the steering wheel controls. Also, it greatly simplified connection between the stock wiring harness and the new head unit. The interface includes connections for the reverse signal so that the stock rear camera's function is retained without needing to run a wire from the backup lights. A connection for the parking brake switch is also included. Included is a pre-wired 3 position switch that can be used to turn on the front or rear camera without shifting into reverse or activating the cameras through the head unit controls. As I do not have a front camera I use it only for the rear camera. It's up to the installer to find an appropriate place for the switch. I put it in the driver side well on top of the dashboard. As expected, the interface does not supply data for dashboard display. So the dashboard no longer shows audio information, direction of travel or phone information. I never used the dashboard to display this information before, so I won't miss it.
Pros: Retains SWC controls, simplifies connections. No need to run wire from the backup lights. Switch for activating cameras.
Cons: Does not supply data for display on dashboard.

PAC RP4.2-MB11 Wiring Interface
Crutchfield customer from NOLANVILLE, TX on 3/17/2024
Makes install easy, but the steering wheel button interface does not work in our 2018 Sprinter. UPDATE 4/17/24: I was happy with Crutchfield's quick turnaround sending a new interface to replace the one I had that was not responding to steering wheel buttons, and happier when the new one worked. Now I am disappointed. The buttons stopped working after our first trip. This thing is not good.

It might not be you...
Dave from Encinitas, CA on 2/16/2024
2018 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter Cargo
Think you are losing your mind trying to get this to work in a 2018 Sprinter 2500? I sure did. Crutchfield was very helpful along the way, and this is a pretty easy setup. IF (and that is such an important word) your PAC unit is not defective. The first one we ordered was defective. Began install, Saturday Feb 3, 2024 without success. No power to the head unit. There was no info on the LED lights, so I had to wait until Monday, Feb 5 to call PAC. Using a multi-meter, we determined their unit was defective. Ok, that happens. Crutchfield swiftly sent a replacement. The replacement was MISSING the Accessory Power (Red) wire. This was mental breakdown #2. Again, Crutchfield sent a replacement and this time inspected it before sending. Today, Feb 16th, I wired everything and hooked it all up and I'm very happy to report everything works on the Sony AX-6000 head unit we installed. If you can't get it to work, it might not be YOU. Up next, replacing the factory speakers, but that's a tale for another day.
Pros: Works like a charm if the PAC unit is not defective. Pretty simple setup and install for a first timer.
Cons: Hassle. One defective unit. One unit missing accessory power wire.

Interface worked as advertised but some of the wires were grouped in a way that made connecting to the stereo trickier than it needed to be. Neither of the 3.5 mm plugs were labeled as to where they went. Thank for Crutchfield's tech department.

GREAT PAC interface and Much needed
Sean from USA on 11/28/2022
2018 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter Cargo
Just thought I'd help out anyone running into the same problem I have. (Victor - Tech support) was a big help. I have an 18 Mercedes Sprinter and wanted to upgrade the radio. Purchased the Kenwood DMX4707S and this PAC interface. When I first installed it the backup camera would come on in reverse only but I could not access the camera while in motion or anytime for that matter. After finally a little trial and error I realize the three way toggle switch that is wired into the harness if set in the middle position will let you go to the Kenwood menu and select camera and the backup camera appears. If set in top/bottom position the camera automatically comes on overriding the screen, I"m assuming the other far position would be if you had a front camera. Hopefully this helps someone else.

2017 Mercedes-Benz Metris
It works perfectly for a Metris. I talked to a crutchfield rep and he said my car would loose steering wheel controls and back up camera functions. Clearly that person didn't know what he was talking about, so i did more research and this unit is exactly what I needed. I bought the dash kit and a boss unit, everything works perfect

This worked for me with installing an Atoto S8 Gen 2 Ultra into a 2016 Mercedes 2500 passenger (Roadtrek SS Agile). The rear camera and steering wheel controls all work properly. I set the DIP switches to other for the Atoto.
Pros: The majority of the wires were labeled
Cons: It wasn't clear to me how the long-press programming worked.

Must-have for Mercedes Sprinter with slick camera display switch
Crutchfield customer from Salt Lake City, UT on 6/1/2020
2018 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter Chassis Cab
Used on a 2018 Mercedes sprinter, this is a must-buy in my opinion. Keeps all the factory functionality, has clearly labeled wires, has instructions that are 8/10 easy to follow, and the bonus is the "force camera" switch which installs super clean in a location of your choosing to manually display the rear or front camera (if you have one). Really a slick solution. Definitely recommend.

Wire Harness That Retains Steering Wheel Control Functions
Crutchfield customer from Ilwaco, WA on 5/16/2020
I purchased this harness from Crutchfield to install with my new Kenwood DDX9906XR head unit. The PAC RP4.2-MB11 Wiring Harness interface module works well and Crutchfield ReadyHarness Service did a great job connecting it to the radio harness. Everything connected ok between the radio and to the OEM harness. My only issue was that there was an 3.5mm jack that was unlabeled and I still don't know what it goes to. Also there was a 3.5mm jack that was labelled Steering Wheel Control but had no instructions on where to connect it. I connected that to the iDataLink connection on the back of the Kenwood, but was then told by Crutchfield Support that the iDataLink port is proprietary and the PAC harness doesn't work with it. So that jack is unused in the harness and the steering wheel control is actually through one of the other connectors. The PAC does not provide the full functionality of the iDataLink Maestro harness for reporting vehicle status but evidently the Mercedes Sprinter is not compatible with the Maestro, so the PAC was the best option. It does retain functionality of the steering wheel controls, except that the radio station frequency no longer shows on the dash readout.
Pros: Retains steering wheel functionality Crutchfield ReadyHarness Service greatly simplified installation
Cons: Doesn't provide the full vehicle status to the head unit like the iDataLink Maestro. Could've used a wire diagram or instructions saying what the wires connect to.

Does what expected....had some issue upgrading firmware, only because the upgrade file was named , for example v09 even though it was newest v11. Anyway instant chat resolved issue. In regard to connectors to interface with Meecedes....don't use the extension cable for the Mercedes in dash usb ....if you do then Android Auto will not work when you plug your phone into the Mercedes usb. The usb cable from the radio is long enough to bring it out of the dashboard at a convenient place. Adapter for the Mercedes antenna also did not fit. I resolved by cutting off the plastic housing allowing me to make the connection then zip tying the wires together. The attached toggle switch allows the backup camera to be displayed on the radio. I used instant chat with company to understand that...instructions don't explain. Also a red/wht wire is not used, would have been nice to mention that fact.
