Bastard child tamed

The 2005 Corvette is a challenge to interface with the Bose Premium sound system. However, with the PAC RP5-GM11, everything works perfectly.

I have a 06 gmc duramax and everything works fine except the steering wheel controls when paired with a kenwood dmx4707s. I've tried everything to get it to work and it just won't work for me. I'm going to try a different stereo to see if it will work, and to rule out the interface as being the problem. Hopefully it will work with a different stereo. ??

Static

Not sure if it was this device or the Kenwood DMX8709S radio, but soon as I hooked up my new radio there was nonstop static through my speakers. When getting a replacement radio sent out it did the same thing, so I can only assume it was due to the PAC device. This static was very loud and not fixable, after 3 calls with Crutchfield support they could not help me so I sent back everything. Seems like the only thing their support does is read you the manuals that come with the products - if it is not in the manual they can't assist you. All three techs said "I've never heard of this issue before" as if static is not a common occurrence for radio installs. Although I could be wrong, I feel like static feedback would be one of the top issues for any install.

Crutchfield Saves the Day!!!

Originally purchased another adapter for my 2011 Corvette Grand Sport with Nav radio and factory Bose speakers/amp - needless to say, that one did not work correctly. Steering wheel controls would not function at all (even after many firmware flashes) and the unit did not power off properly. Purchased the PAC RP5-GM11, and honest to goodness within minutes, the replacement head unit was working. The wiring looks intimidating, but the instructions and wire coloring make everything super easy. Steering wheel buttons worked immediately with no flash required, and best part of all, the radio powered down with the car off. Kudos to PAC for this amazing adapter!!!

Ease of Installation

Installed into my 2005 GM truck with a Boss BE7ACP Stereo. I also used Crutchfield's prewiring service. These two items together made for easy plug and play installation. This interface retained my door chime and steering wheel radio controls. It also made for simple connection of the antenna and rear camera power and video. There is plenty of room int he dash to hide and secure the interface and wiring. I am pleased with this interface, how simple it made installation, and how everything is labeled. I recommend this plus Crutchfield's prewire service.

Works great for these complicated GM systems

Made the install in my 2006 Suburban easy and everything works as before. Chime is a little cheesy sounding though. I paid the extra for Crutchfield to wire it to the radio unit, and it is WORTH every penny.

For The Pontiac DIY Dummy's .

When installing this, there are two places to plug in a 3.5mm plug on that headunit you should be plugged into the blue one. The red one is for a microphone. Just make sure you are plugged in correctly. Pontiac gave their version of GM anti theft a sensitivity to match the people who buy them apparently. Which is what is causing the issue and since it integrates with the factory head unit, there is a connector in the form of one of those 3.5mm jacks that you stuck in the wrong hole. Your head unit doesn't scream the same way your sister does though when you do this but just says nah, and leaves you to figure it out yourself.

Worth the additional price

Worked very well and thanks to Crutchfield instruction went in very smooth. Ive used the cheaper blue PAC module before and this chime is more pleasant and adjustable. Easy enough to trim the wires for a cleaner install. All works as expected.

Pac - GM Wire Interface

PAC - GM wiring Interface works flawlessly. It performs EXACTLY as it should. It allowed me to retain my steering wheel controls, chimes and other factory accessories without any issues. I HIGHLY RECCOMMEND this for any GM vehicle.

Steering wheel controls work great. Chime is definitely different tone than the stock one but that is part of being an aftermarket item, no problem there. Has held up through a few nights of the cold weather so far.

Absolute Garbage.

I soldered and heat shrank all connections, it went pretty smooth, the first time. I got 2 or 3 days out of it. Then while driving, the sound would intermittently go in and out. Finally it went out completely. Pulled the radio back out checking to see if something came unplugged. Everything was plugged in, but I did find one specific plug (the one that has all the speaker wires that run from the PAC to the radio) didn't fit well. I could wiggle it and get it back. They sent me a second one, same problem. They told me to cut the plug out and jump across the PAC and wire straight to them on the other side. No audio at all now, and a completely wasted PAC unit now. If they can't come up with a solution tomorrow I'm going to send it all back. Hopefully they will credit me for the PAC I mutilated at their advice. I guess on the bright side I can pull my whole radio out in about 2 minutes now from how many times I've had to go back and forth with it.

Sony xav ax6000 and prewired harness worked flawlessly. All I had to do was to splice camera wire to reverse trigger line which was conveniently left clearly marked by Crutchfield's crew. Steering controls worked perfectly at first, then failed. Corvettes are known to have issues though.

Everything plugged in perfectly. Once it was installed the driver front speaker was not working. It took almost an hour and a half tracking down the issue. I had to open the harness up to find the break in the connection some where. It turned out the wire connector on that speaker, the crimp on 1 side was good but the other side was not made correctly. It was a simple fix but a pain in the ass tracking that down. Especially when you are posting someone to install it.

Very confusing at first, had to do a lot of internet lookup, not as plug and play friendly. Instructions not very good. If you don't buy an additional cable from Crutchfield ($30) and this wire package you need to do some splicing which in itself was not difficult. ( it should have been included).

Rear speakers not working

After install no control/or sound from rear speakers. Back to OEM, all works correctly. Installer metra access and all works as should with Kenwood radio.

Works great out of the box

Great kit if you're maintaining the factory steering wheel controls. Plus this kit comes with the needed GM antenna adaptor. If you like the chime when you leave the keys in the ignition. You'll definitely need this bundle. You'll lose the factory chime when you remove the factory radio. Wiring is straight forward since it's color for color except the Parking Brake and Speed Sense wires on the Alpine stereo. The unit is preprogrammed with standard steering wheel buttons found in GM trucks. I would recommend this unit to my friends.

Great Product

This was my first install of a receiver in one of my rides that had steering wheel controls and On Star. I was a bit intimidated by this harness, but it looks worse than it really is. The wiring guide that came with my order gave a simple to follow wiring diagram. I did solder and heat shrink all my connections. And I am pleased to say that once I hooked up the receiver and tested it, everything worked! I will say it was a bit of a pain trying to cram all of that wiring and components behind the dash and still get the receiver in, but I got it. Thank you Crutchfield for making this a pain free install. I love my new Kenwood receiver and will leave a separate review for that. 2006 Chevy Tahoe LT

C6 Z06 Corvette Install

2009 z06 2LZ, i.e. bose setup. Everything worked as expected... plug-n-play, aside from termination to the aftermarket DDIN radio connections. Instructions are detailed and thorough, with only 1 or 2 items that werent explicitly clear. Bluetooth calls seems to be the only thing that is a bit flaky, but need a bit more time to debug. OnStar was/is not used, and no plans of using in the future, so no details on the integration of that system.

The wiring connections were simple and straightforward. The only complaint I would make is that the wire for the door chime was a bit short to reach to the bottom of the dash where the chime should be located.

Make Life Easier

I purchased this interface because my review of the connections needed to complete an upgrade seemed a bit daunting. The PAC RP5-GM11 Wiring Interface allowed me to follow the Crutchfield instructions and make the necessary connections. My new head unit operates as if it came with my 21 year old Silverado. Thanks to Crutchfield technicians and convenient interface equipment I am a happy customer. Outstanding piece of technical equipment.

This unit is great. The instructions for setup may seem a little confusing, but Crutchfield made it to where it was plug and play for me, no programming needed. The chime module for has adjustable sound settings which was nice, and made makes an acceptable chime noise.

Fixed my problems

I had an older version in my 2003 Silverado SS. When I upgraded my stereo I found out that the older version did not work correctly with my new Kenwood unit. Fortunately this new version worked perfectly.

Steering wheel control installation

Straight forward install when fallow instructions, and it placed all my steering wheel buttons exactly where they were originally. This made installation easy as I did not need any reprogramming of the steering wheel switches. After installing two different steering wheel controls from different manufacturers that didn't work or partially worked this was a great experience! Will not hesitate to recommend, highly recommend!
