Layered sound and adjustable

Understand this is not a piece to play screaming loud music, however, it is louder than you would think. It does just what I wanted. Music with volume that is adjustable in each room of the house and workshop. Also, I am currently hooking up the secondary sound system for layered sound...like a winter blizzard , jungle at night or distant water fall, all the while listening to the music I like. The Russound SDB-6.1 is perfect! It beats 2 independent sound systems.

Didn't work

Just got around to installing it, and it doesn't work. At all. All speakers off, all volumes at zero, it's still playing. But one channel only. Turn it up a bit, it clicks and cuts off. The manual, screwdriver, and labels were also missing from the box, although I didn't think much of it first. Going to try for an exchange or replacement with a different brand.

Never again, no receipt sent to me or room labels with my purchases.

I'll never purchase from Crutchfield again this is the second order that I've received from Crutchfield first was the rust sound 4.1 speaker selector I did not receive the room labels or the free pocket screwdriver included with that speaker selector, my second order is the rust sound 6.1 speaker selector once again I did not receive the free pocket screwdriver or the room labels, they charged my credit card twice and I had to call them to have the first charge removed just left me for three days with zero balance in my bank account they did not inform me they were going to charge me twice also I never received a bill of sale or receipt after my purchase I shouldn't have to ask for my receipt when I purchase something it should be sent to me automatically by email, if they're going to charge you twice they should explain why. This is the last time I purchase from this company that I thought was a great company I was wrong and thinking that they would value me as a customer and send me my receipt and only charge me once for my purchase I should've received my free room labels included with my purchase and the free pocket screwdrivers with both orders but I didn't, this is the last time I purchase from them again next time I'll just purchase straight from the manufacturer of the product Crutchfield doesn't care about quality control or giving you a receipt for your purchase. I'm sure I'll get a reply saying that I could reach out to them at any time I shouldn't have to.

Functions as expected with a sleek styling & volume controls for each speaker pair. Labels are confusing to use & too small. Easy wire connectors on back of unit.

Access for the speaker wires is challenging and will only work for 16gauge speaker wire. the volume level is also very even when factoring the split in ohms expected.

I have used this for over 8 years to control outside speakers around a pool, in the pool gazebo, and the nearby patio. It works great, and allows me to adjust in each area for volume, balance, etc. I like the individual on/off buttons so I do not have to mess with the dials; I simply shut off the speakers I want, and when I want them back on, they come back on right where they were set before.

I first brought a Russound 4.2 and realized I needed one with separate volume controls and ordered a 6.1 it was everything I need I can control the sound level in each room which is fantastic for parties. in the living room and kitchen where people gather to talk I can keep it low, then outside I can rock out!! It looks great easy to set up. It was worth every thing I thought it would be. I would recommend this to anyone that wants to be able to control the volume for each set of speakers and be able to still listen to your music comfortably in each room of your house!!!!

They cheaped out on the connections on the back

It works as advertised but the connections on the back for the speaker and receiver wires are really narrow, cheaply made and not as easy to hook up as they should be. For the price, I would've expected they put a little more effort and quality in here. Large speaker cable won't fit; you'll need to tapper it down. The connection boxes are made of cheap plastic and wobble around when you're working with them. The tiny recessed screws could've been just about any other design, like those I've got on other cheaper components - and I would've been happier.

Easy to use

Works as expected - no problems.
Pros: I got this to control speakers in a house that already had 5 rooms with speaker wiring but had used an old Denon with only two (A/B) speaker options. This controls each room individually. Easy to set up. Good tech support from Russound. Seems well made. I like the room labels that come with it so you can identify the six speaker sets.
Cons: Have not used much yet, but do not see any issues.

Complete Control, Nice...

If you want to run various sets of speakers throughout your home this is a nice way to get it done. With the volume control for each set of speakers you have the ability to adjust the volume for both the size of speakers and the space they are in. The source A and B solved the problem of using the same set of speakers for different functions; i.e. theatre and music playing.
Pros: Simple and easy to use. Volume control for each set of speakers is a huge benefit. Source A & B gives your setup some added options.
Cons: Price.
