Worth the money
Joe from Amarillo , TX on 10/2/2024
I put these components in the front doors of a Hyundai Accent (2018). I had to cut holes in the door panels for the tweeters, but that's no big deal. They improved the sound coming out of the stock head immensely. As others have mentioned, the tweeters can be a bit piercing, but I could eq that out. Placement is critical with these tweeters. If I could go back I would have put them in a different location. After a couple of months, I put in a 4x45w amp, some 3 ways in the rear doors, and a 400w (tested at 518) 1 channel amp to a 10" sub in the trunk. I'm still running the stock head, but have adjusted the gain on each amp/channel and I'm very satisfied with the sound I'm getting. I utilized the iPhone eq presets and leave the head eq open so I can adjust as needed. All recordings you play have different eq settings from when they were produced. You have to adjust as you go. It's not "one size fits all/most". Everyone that hears it, setting in the passenger seat, says it sounds very good. Now, after a long road trip, I plan to put a pair of these in my wife's new Tuscon. She may not know the difference, but at least I will have better sound quality when I drive it. lol

Very good with better bass than expected
David from JACKSON, GA on 9/3/2024
2024 Hyundai Tucson Hybrid
Pleased with this purchase, and with the P1675 (for the rear doors) of my 2024 Hyundai Tuscon Hybrid (non-Bose). Superb midrange and highs. Bass really good, though a powered subwoofer would sound better, of course. It took a little fiddling with the stock head unit's graphic equalizer, but the result is very good sound. Some tips. The supplied speaker backets attached to the door well, but the screws that came with the speakers did not. The holes in the door sheet metal did not match well with the holes in the speak and so the screws were too long. Head to the hardware store and pick up some #8 3/4-inch screws. These with go through the holes in the speaker frame and into the holes of the bracket and not protrude past the bracket. The support brackets the phone tech suggested I buy to mount the tweeters to the small door housing are as useful as tits on a boar. The metal is way too thick and stiff. No way to bend it to the needed shape around these small speakers. Plus, the holes are too big for the small screws used in the housing. I used a small length of 12-gauge wire and silicone glue, and all is good. (See photo.) A bit of advice for reviewers. Please post reviews of speaker sound quality after listening to music from the best source possible. Good audio quality cannot be expected from satellite radio or even from FM radio. A CD (if possible) or USB drive with high bitrate files are best. Otherwise, readers will be mislead.
Pros: Excellent sound. Installation not too challenging.
Cons: Needed to run out and buy screws.

Speakers great, Crutchfield's description not so much
Aaron from SAINT MARIES, ID on 8/10/2024
2002 Chevrolet Silverado 1500
Purchased for a customer (inexpensive upgrade to blown factory units) because they wanted a quick drop in upgrade. These were marketed as a direct bolt on. Not even close! Factory speakers had the typical basket, ring, and mounting solution as one molded piece, so not reusable in any way. It snapped into huge slots in door metal- no screws/bolts holding woofer. Tweeter was a similar oversized molded plate. The tweeter were installed by making my own adapters after the factory shape. Woofers.1st, the oem speakers were 5", so 6-1/2" are never a direct bolt on. Thanks Crutchfield. Again, had to create spacer mounts but couldn't use factory ones because the new ones had to cover the giant slots in the door to seal them up. Then riv-nuts, foam, and mounting screws later, it was totally 'plug and play'. Except for the wiring adapters provided for 'plug and play' didn't fit the speaker terminals, so there's that. My profit margin is so slim you can't see it, so when hours of time and my materials have to be used up due to your poor advertising, it leaves a bad taste. Up your game.
Pros: Speakers are great
Cons: Crutchfield really dropped the ball and it cost me any profit

Pros: Easy to install Clear and loud

Super clear, lacking a little low end
Fred from Monroe, LA on 3/28/2024
2015 Ford F-150 XLT
I bought these to replace the stock door speakers in my F-150, along with an aftermarket head unit. I was initially a little disappointed with the speakers. I had a snafu installing the new radio, so installed them with my stock head unit. They were immediately much clearer than the stock speakers but didn't seem to have as much power. But when I finally got the new head unit in, and the EQ on it dialed in, they came to life. The speakers are super clear and they sound great, but I still feel like they're lacking just a little oomph in the low range. I'm not looking for thumping bass out of a 6.5-inch speaker, and that's not my style anyway, but I do wish there was a little more punch. Install was fairly easy. I did have to force the mounting brackets that Crutchfield supplied a little to get them to fit the holes in the doors. I also had to get a little creative with the tweeters in the pillars due to the design of my truck. Overall, though, I'm pleased and would buy them again.
Pros: Clarity Volume
Cons: Lacking just a little low end oomph

Highs are clear and crisp, lows hit, mids don't crack out. I can listen to about anything without changing anything. May have to get a couple 10's now. I'm really impressed, no lie.
Pros: Clean sound, crisp highs, cheap enough pricing
Cons: Makes me want to buy 10's

RF 6.5" Punch component set
Jerome from Salt Lake City, UT on 9/7/2023
2009 Honda CRV
I like the overall sound of this 6.5" component set better than the previous coaxials. The woofer went into the lower door location and the tweeters into factory dash locations. I'm using the factory head and a RF 2-channel amp to drive these. I'm not sure what's different about my installation, but the PEI tweeters in this set are WAY louder than the woofers. It's not that the tweeters don't sound good--they provide accurate, clear music. It's just that there's no way to attenuate the volume of the tweeters relative to the woofer. I found my system seemed to consist of only tweeter and subwoofer because the tweeters were so loud. I tried redirecting the tweeters off of the windshield and turning down the treble, but it still was too much. I eventually put some old silk-dome tweeters I already had in to replace the ones that came with the component set, and now things sound better. I'll keep the setup because I like the integrated crossover so much.
Pros: Crossover integrated into woofer basket. Sharp, accurate sound.
Cons: Tweeters too loud/bright.

2019 Hyundai Elantra
I bought these for my sons 2019 Hyundai Elantra. Initial turn on at low volumes, it was easy to tell these were a much better and more detailed speaker than stock. The power capability is perfect if not upgrading to amplifiers. He is more than pleased and that's all I was hoping for. The installation was fairly easy on the lower door speakers but the uppers required a little modification to the doors which resulted in a surface mount application. The Hyundai's tweeters are smaller and there was intrusive plastic on the back side of the door panel. Nothing a dremel couldn't clean up.
Pros: detailed sound over stock. Matches well with stock power output.
Cons: none

Great sound and easy installation!
Steve from Nashville, TN on 6/23/2022
1991 Mazda Miata
These are fantastic. Installed in the doors of my 1991 Miata, powered only by my 22w/ch JVC head unit, at least for now - but they put out enough low bass by themselves that my plans for a subwoofer install are now on hold. And that's a pretty big boast, considering my car has no rear speakers. Also loved that the crossovers are part of the woofer baskets, saves time and hassle to install. There was one tiny issue with the install, a trim ring for one of the tweeters cracked when I tried to install it. Crutchfield fixed that right away. Lesson 1: Never buy stuff anywhere else! They even knew to include fatter quickslides for the Metra speaker adapters.
Pros: Excellent low bass output for a modest-size speaker, and great volume on relatively low power.
Cons: Trim rings were a little fragile. No worries - Crutchfield made it right, right away!

I picked these up recently to replaced the factory front speakers and tweeters on my 03 Infiniti Qx4. I'm using this with an aftermarket amp. There's definitely some punch coming from the tweeters almost too piecing. So I had to add a subwoofer and even with the HF all the way down on the amp, it's still a little piercing but more bearable. If I had to do these over again, I wouldn't go with these.
Pros: No external cross over
Cons: Too Piercing

2016 Subaru WRX
Installed on my 2016 WRX Limited, non-Harman Kardon. I wanted an upgrade from factory speakers but a setup without external crossovers or an amp. Just wanted to utilize the 22 watt RMS per channel from my KENWOOD DDX9905S. Wow! These things pack a punch, like the name says. Been into car audio since the late 90's and this is my first time buying Rockford Fosgate. I'm impressed. I complimented them with RF Punch 2-ways in the rear. You will need a head unit that has equalizer settings and, perhaps crossover settings to maximize the performance and quality of these components. I wasn't given the female slides or the correct harness for the woofers for these, so I cut and soldered. No big deal, as it'd be a crime to remove these speakers from the car if I sold it.
Pros: Crystal clear, loud, punchy.
Cons: Not a fan of the Metra brackets, but they did the job.

These speakers are terrible. After maybe 2 weeks I think both tweeters are already blown. And I have chronic Tinnitus and can't listen to loud music. Prior to that they didn't sound good anyways. I guess times have changed, 200 bucks doesn't get ya much these days. I could submit a return ticket but I made the mistake of throwing out all the boxes because honestly I've never blown a speaker before. The thought never occured to me that there could be a problem. I'm gonna eventually scrap this entire system and start from scratch. Life lessons I guess, do your research before assuming anything. I thought RF was a good brand, but these speakers do not help sell that theory.

Sound quality overall is a slight improvement over stock MB 5.25" speakers in my Sprinter RV. Even with spacer adapter rings, the large basket on the speaker required cutting and bending metal in the door to fit. Midrange has almost no bass and quite a tinny sound. So much so that I thought I'd accidentally hooked the wires up wrong, pulled the door panel back off and verified that I was connecting to the right terminals. The tweeters are very crisp and are the highlight of the set. Took a bit of adjustment to knock down the brightness a bit. I have an old amplifier that I was hoping I would not need to install, but I suspect the mid-range may need more power than the radio head unit is provide, despite the fact that the volume is plenty loud. Unfortunately, like another reviewer, the amount of effort required to remove all the wiring and tweeters, repackage and order something different is probably not worth the effort. They'll work, they just aren't amazing.
Pros: heavy duty build, bright sounding tweeters
Cons: Built in Crossover on the mid still means running a wire to a dash location if that's where your tweeter is. Doesn't save much effort over a separate crossover. Basket is huge, meaning a larger opening is required. Non-existent bass when driven by a dash unit.

Audi A4/S4 factory upgrades
Crutchfield customer from Miami, FL on 3/5/2021
2014 Audi A4
For Audi owners A4/S4 - great fit for REAR DOORS if paired with adapters that accommodate the tight spacing inside the side and the door panels. I used a 3D printing company after measuring the needed adapter dimensions. This avoids unnecessary drilling/cutting into your luxury car. The suggested Metra 82-8148 are a terrible fit however are suggested by Crutchfield. No. The P165-SI speakers deliver fantastic sound even currently off of the Audi component MMI and 6-channel amplifier factory system. Rather impressed from a sound junkie myself. Tweeters can be ran in parallel with the woofers and you will need to fabricate custom mounts using the Universal Back Straps offered by Crutchfield. Easy but necessary and time consuming. Rockford Fosgate P1675-S were custom installed using the same process for the FRONT DOORS. Overall very pleased.
Pros: Rockford is well respected and renowned since the 90's.
Cons: Be ready to be handy and/or have a custom audio place do your install. This is Audi and the whole upgrade isn't cheap. Don't cut corners and invest the time, materials, and energy otherwise it's a waste.

I bought two pairs of these speakers for my Honda Civic and I paired them with a Rockford Fosgate R2 300X4 amplifier. These speaker are super clear and crisp with both highs and mids on there own. With the amplifier they become amazing! Highs are more pleasantly present and mids are clearer and mid bass bumps fairly hard. Lows are almost non-existent without the amp but that is normal and to be expected with 6.5 inch speakers however, with the amp the lows are present with most music types and actually vibrate the mirrors a bit. Nothing extreme but you can feel them! I love these speakers!

Martin from Bloomfield on 11/6/2020
2013 Subaru Impreza
Bought these as well as a pair of P16s to replace the factory speakers in my 2013 subaru impreza. Installation was fine, only requiring drilling of new holes into the door frame and cutting a new panel out of a piece of sheet metal to mount the tweeters in the dash. Sound quality? I was expecting to be blown away after reading all these reviews - but no. They are *barely* better than the factory speakers. I work in professional audio production so I know good gear and good sound. They only really sound noticeably better at VERY high volume - far louder than I'd ever actually listen to music in my car. But here's the thing - the time and work it would take to remove them, re-install the factory speakers, re-package and make the trip to the UPS store to ship these back?? It's barely worth the refund to me. So they're staying, and for a few hundred bucks I'll have slightly better speakers. I guess my advice is: if you really care about the sound quality in your car, just spring for the very top of the line stuff. My factory speakers were okay - just okay - and I assumed that ANY after-market speakers would be a huge upgrade. Not the case. If I keep this car, maybe I'll do that in a few years.
Pros: well built easy to install
Cons: no appreciable difference in sound quality from factory speakers

I purchased this kit for the FRONT of an 2019 F-150 Supercrew, as positioned by Crutchfield. Once connected, there was very little sound coming from the 6" door speaker (the pillar speakers were fine). I called support and the tech said, "oh, maybe your stereo doesn't have the power to drive the door speakers," and went on to suggest that I send them back. So I'm supposed to pull out the pillar speakers that required modification, the door speaker and bracket and harness that required modification, and send it all back? Never mind the fact that these speakers are specifically sold as a KIT for the FRONT of this truck. I ended up putting the door speakers in the BACK, where they worked, and installed a set of Kicker 2-way in the front...which isn't what I wanted to do, but I was stuck with it.

Fantastic speakers to use as an upgrade from factory. They have the built in crossover which I wanted/needed because my car door (17 Ford Focus ST) didn't have any space for an external crossover box. The tweeters are very loud so adjust your stereo EQ accordingly. Only complaint I have is that the mid bass seems to be lacking ever so slightly. But I plan to remedy that by adding a powered subwoofer later.
Pros: Clarity, internal crossover, heavy duty construction, crisp highs
Cons: Slightly too weak mid bass

Easy install love that the crossover is in the unit. Needs to be hooked up to an amp for full effect. Crisp and clean sound!

For the money, these sound great with only a 40 watt amp. No separate crossover definitely simplified installation

Outstanding upgrade for factory stereo
Mike R. from Santa Barbara, CA on 7/3/2016
2011 Chevrolet Suburban
I had a factory speaker die on me so I HAD to take the opportunity to upgrade all the speakers. The highs are so clear, I eliminated all of the treble boost I was using in the system. The bass is solid and has more presence than I expected from a 6 1/2" speaker. Even at highway speeds, I hear details in my music that had been previously lost. The installation parts and instructions from Crutchfield made installation so much easier. The first door took me about an hour and a half to do. By the time I was on the last door, it only took about 35 minutes. Bottom line: Wonderful upgrade that I would not hesitate to buy again.
Pros: With component speakers, finding a place to install and secure the crossover in the door is a significant issue. I was drawn to the idea of the integrated crossover. It works perfectly and there was one less part to install. Also, these speakers are very clear and well balanced. They required very little EQ correction in my vehicle.
Cons: The mounting ring for the tweeters is rather difficult to install. That said, once it is on correctly, it is very secure.

A nice upgrade over factory
Jim N from Saukville, WI on 4/11/2016
2006 Chevrolet Tahoe
These are pretty nice! I like the upgrade over my 10 year old factory speakers. There were adequate install parts for me to mount separate tweeters conveniently. The range of options was great. And the sound is so much better! If I wanted the sound I get in my lux sedan, I would add an amp and subwoofer; but these are perfectly fine for this vehicle - at least for now.
Pros: Range of install options and parts; nice sound.
Cons: Had to adapt tweeter connect with my own wire ends. For me really not an issue; but for someone who doesn't keep a set of wire ends in their workshop a run to auto parts store would have been required.

For the price the sound is awesome!! Good highs and mids
Pros: Easy and I mean very easy to install was unsure about no cross over box but it was easier to install and sounds as good if not better
Cons: The tweeter mounts were not as easy as some but works well

I've never heard that before!

2004 Chevrolet Avalanche
My wife has had her Avalanche since new, 12 years. We replaced the deck with a JVC , the factory separates sounded much better. But failed (buzzing in the mid range) with a torn cone in the front left door. Read tons of reviews and had a max budget of $150. I wanted an easy fit with minor fabrication required. Crutchfield had a lot of choices for her truck, chose Rockford. Partly because of their reputation, and based on personal experience with their subs and amps. When they arrived I was not disappointed! Easy install with woofers needing only 4 screw holes to drill and fit perfectly. Tweeters required a little fabrication, I removed factory tweeters and used their mounting plates. Removed driver assembly (broke it out of the plastic mounting plates) used a hole saw to enlarge hole in mounting bracket and secured new larger tweeters with included hardware. Factory door panel remains unmodified. After a few days use she tells me that she is hearing things in familiar songs, and lyrics way more clearly. She's happy, I'm happy!
Pros: Easy install, nice mounting hardware & a huge improvement over factory separates.
Cons: Requires a small amount of fabrication, but well worth the price and effort. If you're good with your hands this will be easy.

massive improvement over the chevy factory speakers
Cameron from sidney, MT on 2/20/2016
2005 Chevrolet Tahoe
These are incredible, the sound difference is night and day over the factory speakers. I put these in the front doors in my 05 tahoe, I had to do a lot of custome fiting for the tweeters to make them look like they where factory instaled but deffenitly worth it.
Pros: Amazing sounds and nice looks
Cons: Could be a few more mounting options and hardware with the tweeters

Good Fit Great Sound Upgrade!
Crutchfield customer from Michigan on 10/10/2015
2005 Chevrolet Blazer
Installed these speakers in 05 2 door Blazer. Speakers fit well in the doors. The tweets had to be custom mounted as they do not fit in the factory dash locations. The highs are really bright, and the lows sound great. Hooked to a Kenwood Excelon KDC-X799 deck these are a vast improvement over factory and no need to add an amp.
Pros: Door fitment is good sound is great
Cons: Tweets didn't fit in factory location

I like!

2002 Saturn L300
I love these speakers, have always had a thing for RF gear, but they have earned it! These speakers may be a bit bright when paired with a RF amp with punch enabled, but nothing that some EQ can't polish up!
Pros: loud and solid, hard to distort
Cons: screws and clips (mounting hardware) are a bit flimsy, easy to strip screws or break clips, recommend hand tighten only! especially since speaker frame is also plastic!
