Sound You Can Feel

Overall, a very good powered subwoofer! This has outperformed my expectations for an 8" woofer. The bass response picks up lower frequencies well but tends to get bogged down if the song has a complex rhythm. ( bass guitar & drums or complex hip hop beat) I have had it installed for a couple days now, and I am beginning to hear a rattle from inside the ported box. This has become a concern since I do not push the sound system hard at all. I'm not sure if this is common during the "break in period" or a common issue faced with ported boxes. There is nothing blocking the port yet, a faint rattle can be heard. My main goal was to replace the factory Sony subwoofer that came with my truck. When comparing this to the Kicker Hideaway 10" powered sub, RF has the superior sound and feel. The only drawback I have found is the rattle from inside the box.

Great value space saver

I originally purchased 1 for my daughters car. Wanted to give her full sound without attracting a lot of attention. It sounded so good I bought 1 for my f350. This box size is very deceiving. It definitely hits above it's weight class. If you want to add bass without sacrificing much room, this box is for you!

Big Sound in a Small Package

Perfect size for my application (spare tire well in 2024 Nissan Z). Fits perfect after trimming the foam a little. Sounds amazing with the rear pad and carpet on top of it (i was a little worried). Nice solid clear bass without distortion. This is a very small car so it doesn't take a lot to get the bass you want. My main objective was clean bass and I got that with the 8" Fosgate punch. Great help and install info from JP at Crutchfield. Without a doubt the perfect powered sub for this car.

Tune is key!

First off, this was installed in my 99 Miata. I have a Sony XAV-AX1000 receiver with OEM door speakers. I have installed behind my right shoulder about 2 ft away. The key to making this sound really good is the location places and to tune it to your favorite low bass song. That includes turning off all HP & LP filter, custom sound waves, extra bass, etc. As you tune it, turn on one feature at a time and make sure you're listening to it at your favorite max sound level. Mine is at 28/50. I only use the LP filter on the sub; set at ~80hz, because that's where the most bass was at for my songs. I turned the gain until I hear distortion or unpleasant bass and turned it back down so I know not to go pass that setting. I am not using the adjustable gain knob and bass boost is also turnt completely down. On the receiver I bias the sound to the rear 2- 3 spots. Now the bass is more noticeable and has a deep thumps. I am still tuning as I go, but I love the sound as it is now.

I have had this installed for about 1.5 years in my show truck. The sound quality at low levels is pretty good, cannot handle now bass at a normal volume. Ive spent a lot of time tuning with no good results. Id spend the money on a better unit if you're looking for good bass.

Great Sound

Great sound in a small package. I knew it wasn't going to be the loudest, but this little guy hits pretty hard. Didn't need much for the small cabin of the VW, this did the trick very well. I almost went with the 10 inch sub, but think it might have been overkill.

Perfect for a small cab of a truck

Not going to lie.I was nervous about this one. How much sound can a little 8" produce? I have an 84 square body that needed some bass but there isn't much room in this cab. I bought the 10 inch sealed version of this RF but it didn't fit. Returned and bought this one. Wow! It sounds great in the cab.dare I say perfect? You can't hear much outside of the cab and I'm good with that.

Amazing

Put this amp/sub combo in the storage bin under the floor of my Hyundai Santa Fe's cargo area. Even with the open space it produces MORE than enough thump to raise profile of the kicker door speakers. With to vibrate the rear view, but not obnoxious from the outside of the car. Install made easier by being able to wire the adapter and plug in rather than trying to run power/ground/remote directly into the amp. Made wire management way easier. The Crutchfield team was amazing during the whole process. Would definitely recommend.

Great Sub, Small Package

I was worried that the 8" subwoofer might be too small compared to their 10" subwoofer and after getting it setup on High level inputs I'm no longer worried. This subwoofer brings the bass. I like how everything you need is there; like the bass knob for example. I attempted to put it behind the back seats but it does not allow seats to be raised. Fortunately, this subwoofer fits under the seat in my 2019 F-150 Super Crew with room to spare. I have only had it setup a few days and I only turn up the bass knob about 1/3 of the way up and that's plenty for me. Mind you I have a stock stereo with upgraded speakers so there was no bass present before this subwoofer was introduced.

Perfect combination of size and output. You won't hear it down the street, but it's plenty loud inside the car. Fits perfectly under the rear seat of a Ford Maverick with the tray removed.

Very little bass.

This powered compact sub is ok. very disappointed. The factory bose sub is better than this. This one will be replaced with another powered sub or subs and amp. the remote gain knob has to be turned almost to max most the time to have much bass. the old school kicker powered sub had much more to be desired...

AMAZING

2003 ram 1500 single cab

I was disappointed when I first got this sub installed but then later realized I had all my EQ settings on 0 on my head unit. After messing with the EQ a bit it woke this sub UP . Just wanted more bass in my work truck and this definitely did the trick Sounds great with rap,Latin,country and some rock music

Gladiator Sport bass upgrade

Love it! I replaced the factory gladiator speakers with JBL Clubs, but was missing the bass. This fit well under the rear right passenger, and it sounds fantastic! Thanks to tech guy Roman for the advice about splicing into a rear rollbar speaker.

For such a little sub, this thing packs a insane punch. So if you have a little sedan, hatchback or even a compact suv and still want to use the trunk space along with folding the seat down then this is the sub for you. Doesn't break the bank but might blow an eardrum

Skip the underseat subs if you have a bit more space

This little guy fits behind the rear driver side seat in 3rd gen Tacoma double cabs with the plastic storage bin removed. I didn't try it, but I believe it will also fit behind the passenger side without modification. I utilize the larger storage space behind the passenger side so went this route. I initially was shopping the smaller under seat style subs with 10" drivers but somebody recommended this unit, which is priced about the same. I previously had a Nissan Titan with the factory Rockford Fosgate stereo which had an 8" under seat sub which was underwhelming so I thought I needed a 10" driver. I'm so satisfied with this! I mostly listen to country, classic rock, 90's rap. Nothing bass heavy but it will still produce the type of bass you can feel (Eagles Hotel California - MTV Unplugged version). Electric bass is now present (Chris Stapleton - Starting Over). It definitely has the ability to vibrate any loose items, fortunately I've already installed sound insulation in the cab. I can't speak for the longevity of it since it's just been installed, but setting the gain so it matches my Infinity Reference speakers powered by an Alpine Power Pack, it gets loud enough without distortion. I did get a fluttering noise coming out of the port if the volume was a bit high. It sounded like distortion but clearly could be heard from the port and not the driver itself. I turned down the gain until it went away; even so it was enough volume for me.

I purchased the 8" for my 2008 Honda Ridgeline due to not having many options. Just not enough room under the rear seats. However, this sub fit and it sounds great , but for the size truck it's just not enough "Umph ". I plan to add another 8" and see if I like the sound.

Killer Small Sub

Very compact Subwoofer. Installed it under the rear seat of my Sprinter Van. Fit perfect. Easy to connect. Great Sound! Didn't purchase this to make a sonic boom chamber. It's the perfect addition to the factory stereo to fill in the low frequencies that the factory speakers couldn't handle.

Wow - Exceptional 8" Sub!

Blown away by this powered sub! Returned the Rockford Fosgate PS-8 after being defective after 11 months and opted to get this as a replacement. MAJOR improvement all around! Definitely a tighter fit in the storage area behind the back seat, but just had to give the seat a firm push to lock into place. Far exceeded my expectation for an 8" sub. Highly recommended.

Perfect for my vintage F-100 pickup

I've got a pair of 6.5" two way speakers in the doors of my vintage single cab pickup and was looking for a solution to the system's lacking bottom end for my primarily rock and roll playlist. This powered sub fits easily behind the bench seat and provides all the satisfying kick I could ask for. I now have true full range sound in a vintage pickup without breaking the bank! I also like using the sub's included remote volume control for dialing in just the right amount of bass for a particular track.

Amazing bass, great sub

Love this little powered sub, wasnt insanely difficult to wire in, Ive never done wiring and a couple youtube vids and it was quick and easy. I put this in my single cab s10 and it made my whole cab shake with ease, perfect if you're limited on space with little to no wiring knowledge.

Solid gap filling sub woofer

A Little Boom For A Little Truck

My family and I live on a small farm. We use our 2011 Ford Ranger as a truck. We need the cab and bed. The Rockford Fosgate powered sub was perfect for our needs. My wife and I listen to music from the 50s-90s for the most part. Country, rap, rock, and some Miami Bass/car audio bass thrown in. If you are looking for a musical sub, then this will fit the bill. If you are looking to be heard a block away or turns heads in a parking lit, this is not the sub for you. The sub sounds quite musical inside the truck. If your music has real instruments in it that are played by humans...then you will enjoy this sub. If you are going for a high SPL and want blurry vision you should look elsewhere. This sub is very happy with 80s-90s country, classic rock, 80s-90s pop, and grunge. This is not a dubstep or car audio bass type sub. This sub will allow us to still use the jump seats as needed. I have found that the sub sounds best with low gain, no bass boost, no EQ, etc. This allowed me to set a high pass crossover for the main speakers to take the load off of them. During the installation i decided to use a remote turn on wire and the low level RCA input. This sub is a nice little package that adds boom but does not take up a lot of space. I am very pleased with it.

I loved this sub while it lasted. Which was all of a little more then w month. Had it proffesionally installed and after a month of owning it, the amp blew out and now theres not a single powered Rockford to replace it with and no clue as to when they will even be in.

BASS BOOM BOOM

Wow... packs a punch!!! I was hesitant in purchasing an 8in powered sub as I've always been use to 10in or 12in subs with separate amplifiers. I am beyond happy with this purchase and the best part is it takes up no space at all in the trunk.

DOA

Dead on arrival. Waiting to talk to support about a replacement. All this after waiting for a month of it being on back order = 1 bummed out customer. Hooked up according to the simple installation instructions - sounds like garbage, tried adjusting gain/boost/crossover but sounds like a defective amplifier with lots of noise and clipping/cutting in and out.

Little Thumper

This was installed into my daughter's 1997 Dodge single cab right behind the seat and it was a perfect fit. The Sub really thumps I couldn't believe the crisp bass. It was a perfect match for the deck and Fosgate door speakers I'd had installed months earlier. I'm putting one under the back seat of my F- 150 as soon as they are back in stock.

Great powered sub for the money!!!!

I had done lots of homework to see what would be the best bang for the buck powered sub for our 2003 Chevy Avalanche. Once this went on sale it was a no brainer!! Installation was easier than I expected and most importantly, it sounds GREAT!! It is just what was needed to make the stereo sound great! The door speakers had already been replaced so all that was needed was more low end. Very happy with purchase and also Crutchfield!!!

Great Powered Sub! This little thing packs enough punch to fill my C10 and not wake my neighbors down the street. Just what I was hoping for. I was worried that it was only an 8", but it performs better than some 12's I've heard out there.

It's pretty good, and I'd buy it again

I listed to a good bit of hip hop, rap, and rock from the 80s and 90s. I chose the 8" sub for its clean hard bass. I have gone back and forth on 3 to 4 stars. This has pretty good power, but I just can not imagine that it actually has 300 watts RMS. It sounds pretty good so I went ahead with 4 stars. This was easy to install, and I love how Crutchfield suggests all that one needs for an installation. Also, having access to an advisor that knows their products is awesome. In my case, Doc helped me along the way.

Great Sub!!!! Nice bass from a quality unit.

I am very impressed with this small but very powerful subwoofer. I thought I needed something bigger but I was so wrong. The unit has great sounding bass for the size and cost. Fits nicely under my rear seat and gives the truck a much-needed bass boost. Rockford Fosgate P300-8P is a quality unit. I love the quick-release power plug just in case I want to remove it easily. All around I give it a 5 star. A great addition to my 2010 Nissan Frontier.
