Slams without talking up too much space

Pros: Great slamming sound in a compact box that looks really nice

Just enough for what I purchased
Chadwick from Rossville, GA on 2/23/2025
To be perfectly honest the previous reviews did not sound too great some works saying that they couldn't handle much power blasy blase but if you are wanting something that will shatter the windows this is not for you if you're wanting something good for a small space like a pickup cab this works very well.
Pros: Sounds very good in a small space it surprised me
Cons: The cost is a little on the high side

Awesome subwoofer
Normand from LAS VEGAS, NV on 1/22/2023
2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500
Used this with the following: Chevy Silverado 1500 Custom truck 2021 Crew Cab, 7inch LCD, non-bose systems. Everything is Rockford Fosgates bought here on Crutchfield. Writing this review to at least help one person out as I was trying to find answers for myself on what system would replace my stocks and sound good. Here it is and my system sounds awesome. This system I built is good for someone that just wants clearer louder sound and a little umph in bass (pounds pretty well and I only keep my volume at 25%. I did the install by myself with help from Crutchfield. Front Speakers - Rockford Fosgate P165-SE (I also did a review on this), Rear Speakers - Rockford Fosgate P1675. Subwoofer - Rockford Fosgate R2S-1X12. 5 Channel Amplifier - Rockford Fosgate Punch P1000X5. The Amplifier RMS is just a little over powered for my speakers by not much but I read that it's better, my experience says it works well (Rockford support says it works just set gains properly). I kept the stock head unit (radio). I bought feet online and made it a down firing sub. Fits under back seat nicely. still haven't achored it to anything but it does not move.

I've been enjoying the quality in Rockford products. I put this in my 4Runner my previous sub was a 12 in P3 in a Mazda 3 and I wanted to save cargo space so I thought I'd give this sub a shot and with all new Rockford door speakers and amp running this I'm impressed it's no little thump. The side mirrors still shake and making my audio upgrade sound really full and noticeable.
Pros: Compact but still heavy meaning durable!
Cons: I strapped mine to my anchor points since the backseats are angled but just means more security!

Great entry level sound. I bought a 2017 Tundra SR5 CrewMax with the standard audio system. Had to upgrade. I installed Kenwood excelon amp and door speakers then eventually this RF sub. Perfect for my needs. Bumps just enough to not sound annoying.
Pros: Value, entry level at its finest, good thump
Cons: Wish it had a grille over the speaker

Not what you'd expect from Fosgate!
Jie from Las Vegas, NV on 9/2/2022
2018 Toyota Tundra
Not what you would expect from Fosgate. These things are absolute garbage! A little 300w amplifier at half power bridged, these won't take it. Within 1 minute or under, mind you with heavy metal playing, the amp goes into safe mode. I had to back the power on the amp the whole way back to slightly over 1/4. at around 90MHz. Total waste of time and money considering I wasted a whole day gutting the interior of my truck for these and get to waste tomorrow taking them (2) back out.
Pros: Big speaker in a small package. price.
Cons: They cant take hardly any power at all. not worth the wait, time, effort, money

Good value great sound improvement .
Crutchfield customer from Elgin, SC on 1/28/2021
2020 Ford F-150 XL
Great value added this with an appropriate amp to go with replacement door speakers running off head unit. The sub hits hard and does hit low notes . Not made to be booming blocks away or loudness competition. They are great if use as intended. I paired them with some R169's and R165 's three-ways running off the stock head unit. I am running an Audio Research amp on the sub and set the gains and crossovers correctly and it sounds great.
Pros: Great sound for money Quality parts
Cons: Don't over power Will not last long if you're going to max volume all the time

Ralph from WEST CHESTER, PA on 12/29/2020
Blew out in less than a year. Other reviews share the same experience. It sounded great and handled metal very well but rap destroyed it. I am pushing 350 watts at 2 ohms through a DQ61 signal processor. It sounded great but I would go with a ported enclosure if you primarily listen to rap or high bass music. Replacing the driver with a Polk DB1242 and hoping to have better luck. I would have given 3 stars but feel the need to take more away from the 5 star reviews shown.
Pros: Sounds great for the size
Cons: Driver life

Clean Bass
Matt from Chesapeake, VA on 9/30/2018
Great, clean bass. Doesn't thump like a ported enclosure and takes a little more power but doesn't distort as easily. For fitting in a tight space, with a shallow driver, it does great. I removed the jack/spare tire tool caddy and cut away part of the rear liner behind the rear seat of my 2004 F-250 crew cab. Fits perfectly and sounds great.
Pros: Small footprint, fits tight spaces. Clean, tight bass High volumes without distortion

Fills whats missing
TLH from Vermont on 2/16/2015
I just received my Rockford R2S 1x12 in the mail today. I don't have my Rockford 250.1 hooked up yet, but this sub is running off from a pioneer GM-A6604 amp (90 Watts rms) and this sub hits pretty well for having roughly 1/3 of the recommended power. I almost went with 2 10's (and am still curious the sound difference) but this is a simple one sub setup. This is Installed in my 2014 Toyota Tundra Crewmax, it fits perfectly behind the rear seat. I highly recommend this to anyone who has swapped out their factory amp and looking for some decent thump (will not win any spl comps).
Pros: Excellent quality, sounds great with 1/3" rms wattage, It looks pretty awesome, and it fits where other enclosures have no chance.
Cons: I cannot see it behind the seat! I wish I had room for 2 (I need room back there for my 2 amps) otherwise there are no cons.

Works for me
N from Denver, CO on 5/11/2013
It took a bit of cutting and hacking to remove the jack mounts from behind the seats (I used a hacksaw to cut it to roughly 1/6 inch then a grinder to grind it down to be level with the truck, I used a crowbar to pull out the riveted mounts), along with pulling out the back carpet (just pull out both plastic pegs and bend it in the middle to get it out), but once I did this box fit in my '96 Single-cab Ranger. It's quite a tight fit, but it sounds good. It did lower the available space in the cab a bit, but not significantly. I'm quite happy with the audio quality of the subwoofer, and the fact that it's a 12" that fits in a tiny truck cab. Just to note, there is literally no space between the seat and the sub box. The sub box holds the seats in roughly a straight up position and the seats have to be pushed to latch upright. In hindsight I wish I would've gone with the 10" for my truck, but this one did fit and it does sound awesome.
Pros: Fits in my truck
Cons: Still a little big, wish I would've gone with a 10".
