Super-compact, bursting with power

Rockford Fosgate's high-tech solutions yield more power

This Power Series amplifier actively monitors speaker or sub performance using Rockford Fosgate's Constant Power technology. A subwoofer's impedance naturally fluctuates as it performs. So, just like your cruise control increases the engine's RPM to maintain your car's speed uphill, Constant Power maintains this amp's output by increasing its internal voltage and current when the sub's impedance rises. This results in up to a 25% increase in the amp's total power output, especially in the crucial range below 50 Hz where a sub amp really has to shine.

Rockford Fosgate T750X1bd

T750X1bd control panel with clip lights

Easy to set for optimum performance

Rockford Fosgate's C.L.E.A.N. technology (Calibrated Level Eliminates Audible Noise) setup system ensures your music will sound as clean and powerful as possible. It works like this: first download the setup tones from Rockford Fosgate, then play the tone, adjust the receiver volume until a red clip light on the amp goes out, then turn the amp gain up until a blue light comes on. It's that simple — your amplifier will be perfectly set to match your receiver's output. When your receiver reaches maximum clean volume, you'll get maximum clean power from your Power amp. At quiet listening levels, you'll hear less background noise and more of your music.

Clip lights monitor distortion

If that blue light turns solid red while you're playing music, the amp's telling you that your source is distorting and you should turn it down, or risk damage to your gear. The optional PLC2 remote level control also doubles as a clip indicator, so you can see from the front seat if your music's clipping and restore pristine sound.

Features

Overview: The Rockford Fosgate Power T750X1bd is an ultra-compact mono-block amplifier. Even though the amplifier is only 8-1/2" x 4-1/4", it puts out a full 500 watts x 1 at 4 ohms, 750 x 1 at 2 ohms, or 750 x 1 at 1 ohm.

Class BD: The amplifier features Rockford Fosgate's proprietary Class bd technology, which is more efficient than typical Class AB amplifiers, with lower distortion than Class D amps. Class AB amps typically have 20-60% efficiency, with the remaining power generating heat. Class bd amps are 75-80% efficient, creating more power to drive your speakers, and less creating heat.

Constant Power: Rockford Fosgate uses a patented circuit design to gain up to 25% more output power. Constant Power actively increases the voltage and current in direct relationship to the rise and fall of music signals to provide additional power.

Fan Cooled: The T750X1bd features extruded aluminum heat sinks and dual fans to keep the amp running cool. Dual Fan Forced Induction pulls in fresh air, which pulls heat off of the MOSFETs, and directs airflow into the exhaust channel and out of the amplifier. Since the top and bottom heat sinks are decoupled, the top remains cool to the touch. When installing, you should leave at least 2-3" of clearance around the ends of the amplifier to optimize air flow to the fan intake and exhaust vents.

C.L.E.A.N. Technology: Using Rockford's C.L.E.A.N. (Calibrated Level Eliminates Audible Noise) technology, you can easily and precisely set up the amplifier levels to eliminate distortion from damaging your speakers. Simple LED indicators are used, instead of test equipment, to identify signal clipping at both the input and output, and to match the audio source to the amplifier.

Controls/Indicators

Top Mounted Controls: The T750X1bd features easy-to-reach controls on the top panel of the amplifier. These rotary controls can be set with a small screwdriver (not included). The controls include:

  • Input Level: This rotary control lets you match the output of the audio source to the amplifier.
  • Punch EQ: The Punch EQ eliminates frequency shift with boost. It functions as a 0 to +18dB variable Bass Boost at 45Hz.
  • Frequency: The Butterworth crossover is internally set to Low Pass, and the cutoff frequency is constantly variable between 50Hz and 250Hz with a slope of 12dB/octave.
  • Infrasonic Filter: The 2-way switch lets you engage (or turn off) the built-in Infrasonic Filter. The filter has a fixed cutoff frequency of 28Hz, with a slope of 12dB/octave. The Infrasonic Filter cuts out frequency below 28Hz that cause distortion, and are difficult for speakers to reproduce.

LED Indicators: The amplifier has three LED indicators on its top panel:

  • Input Clip Indicator: The input clip indicator works in conjunction with the audio source's volume knob. It will illuminate red when the audio source reaches its clipping point.
  • Output Clip Indicator: The output clip indicator works in conjunction with the amplifier's input level knob. It will illuminate red when the output level has reached the clipping point. When setting the level using test tones, you should adjust the output level until the LED glows blue. If setting the output level using music, the LED should glow blue with only an occasional red indication.
  • Power/Protect: The Power LED illuminates blue when the unit is turned on. If the LED turns yellow, a short circuit or too low of an impedance has been detected at the speaker connections. If the LED turns red, the amp has overheated and has shut down.
Connections

Left Side of Amplifier:

  • Remote Punch Level Control: This RJ45 jack lets you plug in the optional PLC2 Punch Remote Level Control. The control needs to be switched to the ON position in order to use the remote level control.
  • Inputs: The 4-pin Molex connector works with the supplied RCA Input Harness. The amp will accept signals from either high-level (speaker) or low-level (RCA) sources. If connected to a high-level input signal, the amp's auto turn-on feature is active.
Note: For high-level input, you can either splice RCA plugs onto the source unit's speaker wires, or cut the RCAs off of the supplied input harness and splice on speaker wires from the source unit using the standard wire color code (white=left, gray=right).

Right Side of Amplifier:

  • Power/Remote Terminals: The amplifier's Power, Ground, and Remote terminals are located in a separate plug-in quick connector. The connector has compression terminals that will accept up to 8-gauge wire. When utilizing a high-level input signal, the auto turn-on feature is active, and the Remote terminal can be used as an output to turn on/off up to two additional amplifiers or other accessories. A small screwdriver (not included) is required to tighten/loosen the compression terminals. Once the wires are installed in the quick connector, the connector can be plugged into the amplifier.
    • Note: The amplifier has no built-in fuses. It is recommended that a 100A fuse be placed on the power wire about 18" from the battery.
  • Speakers: The speaker output has removable compression terminals that will accept up to 10-gauge wire.
Warranty Information

Warranty Terms: Rockford Fosgate Power-series amplifiers carry a two year warranty, when purchased from an Authorized Rockford Fosgate Dealer.

Extended Warranty Offer: Rockford Fosgate offers a one-year extended warranty (for a total of 3 years) when the amplifier is installed using a matching Rockford Fosgate installation kit, such as the RFK8 or RFK8i.

Q
Would this pair good with the 2 Rockford Fosgate P2D4-10â??s?
chris  Mar 17, 2023
1 answer
A
Greetings Chris, and thank you for your question. The P2D4 10 inch subs are rated for 300 watts each. Running them at 1 ohm this amplifier would give them 375 watts each. I cant really advise overpowering them. Maybe the Punch P500X1bd would be a better choice.
hogan  Mar 18, 2023 (Staff)
Q
Anyone running this amp in a vehicle with the stop/start feature?

Sorry accessory
kristopher  Jul 13, 2022
A
I do not have a stop/start vehicle. However, you shouldn't have an issue with this amp as long as the accuracy is still on when the vehicle turns off if you don't have the option to turn stop/start off.
kristopher  Jul 13, 2022
Q
Able to withstand an 8 ohm sub?
kiwip  Jan 18, 2022
1 answer
A
Yes. However, at that impedance, it would only deliver about 200-250 watts x1. I'd suggest a lower impedance sub or wiring a resistor in parallel to get more power from the amp. I've got mine pushing a 12" 4 ohm dvc wired in parallel so the amp is seeing a 2 ohm load. Have to keep the gain set pretty low to keep sub from clipping. This amp has a lot of power in a small package.
tim  Jan 20, 2022
Q
Do I need a line output converter for this amp?
ray  Jun 10, 2021
1 answer
A
It is not required but the quality of the high level input is not that good. If you are looking for quality I would recommend audio controls LC2i. Another thing to note if you are getting the high level output from your stereo, make sure that a load doesn't have to be present. This is very common in dodge and ram vehicles.
robert  Jun 10, 2021
Q
Kind of a follow up to the 8ga wire with recommended 100 amp fuse question - Anyone actually use 4ga wire with 4 to 8ga reducers? Or try? will they fit? Or would you have to use distribution blocks to reduce from 4 to 8 ga, kind of defeating the purpose of getting such a small amp?
joseph john  May 26, 2021
3 answers
A
I personally went with 4ga wire into a distribution block on the amp rack, then 8ga from the block to the amp. I don't think it was necessary, but if I'm gonna do a wire run, I wanted it to be something I can leave in place for future upgrades.
torrence  May 26, 2021
A
The terminal strip is so small you can't connect 4 gauge. Amp works just fine on specified 8 gauge
david  May 26, 2021
A
8ga wire is all that you need. 4ga with a reducer will not fit with the power terminal style of the amp.

Q
Will this be too much for aJL 8v3-4 ?
sean kirk  Feb 14, 2021

You can always turn the Amp down so you don't overpower the sub. Extra headroom on an Amp is always better. Will run cooler and cleaner signal. This Amp absolutely rails my 2 12 inch Memphis subs, with plenty more to go.
adam  Feb 14, 2021
A
Way too much. That speaker is 150 watts and the amp puts out 500

As long as the RMS wattage matches up. I paired it with a Power T1 and it sounds amazing!!
phillip  Aug 28, 2020
A
Yes. It runs my T1 with a lot of power to spare.
wade  Aug 28, 2020
A
I have it running to jl w3s and it could even run 3 of them. I recommend at least 2 speakers not 1. The amp is actually over 1000 watts. My subs sound amazing with this amp. Highly recommend this amp!
brian  Aug 28, 2020
A
Yes it would be a super match and give you some nice headroom to work with (bass making requires this). Keep the signal clean and you'll be quite happy with that setup. I've also used a P3 in a slot ported enclosure and it slams!!

Q
If I install this amp inside the sealed speaker box is there going to be any issue?
rocky  Aug 17, 2020

A
I wouldn't. It could over heat. Mount it to the outside of the back of box
jeffrey  Aug 17, 2020
A
Think about that question a minute. You should get your answer.
robert  Aug 17, 2020
A
I wouldn't. I have this amp and it tends to run warm in the open air, so I would say it would run very hot and might cause damage.
toby  Aug 17, 2020
A
Unless you live in Alaska or some other cold climate the heat generation will eventually fail this and all other amps in a sealed box.
david  Aug 17, 2020
Q
Wouldn't the recommended 8ga wire burn before the recommended 100amp fuse does? I'm confused on how to power this amp.
ron  May 26, 2020
4 answers
A
The amp is designed to take 8 awg wire. It is obviously made to be small and efficient and not use a lot of power. I use a 30 amp fuse with my setup and it's worked great for over a year. It obviously depends on how you use it, what kind of music you play on it, and it irs setup properly. I've read that these amps run hot but I've had no issues.
robert  May 31, 2020
A
I used the "Crutchfield Amp Wiring Kit 8 gauge", which came with a 60A fuse. So far, everything's working great! This is a super-efficient amp, so it doesn't need as much current from the battery as other amps with the same power output. Btw, this is an awesome little amp. Mine came with a certificate that it benched over 900W RMS with almost no distortion. The way it's pushing my 15" RF Punch sub, I believe it!
shane  May 30, 2020
A
I thought the same, but I have had no issues. The maps delivers the power it advertises as well. Great amp for the money.
jonathan robert  May 30, 2020
A
No it will be fine, however if you really want you get get down to 4 gauge wire. Just purchase a set of 4 gauge to 8 gauge amp input reducers and that would work as well. Hope this helps and yes this amp for it's size is a monster.

Q
My alternator is rated at 135A, this amp wants 100A. My local audio shop insists itâ??s safe for and wonâ??t damage my alternator. Is this true?
marshall  Jun 12, 2019
3 answers
A
It depends on the state of your battery, really. If you drain your battery down to a very low state then start your car, most of the alternator current will go to recharging that dead battery. If you then start adding more loads like bumping a subwoofer and cranking the AC you could strain your alternator. It probably won't break but this kind of behavior will lower its lifespan and possibly cause other electrical systems to have lower voltage, causing them to turn off or go into a reset condition.
bryce  Jun 19, 2019
A
I installed a 2 farad capacitor with the amp..any surges will pull off of that instead of the alternator
brian  Jun 19, 2019
A
Running amps makes your alternator work harder. Meaning it wears out faster. As for damage I doubt it. Ask an auto mechanic, they'd know more about it than someone who sells car audio. I use a 60 amp fuse on mine and it works fine. Depends on what you're running.
robert  Jun 19, 2019
Q
would this be sufficient to replace the amp in an alpine plv-7 ?
abrob  May 17, 2018
2 answers
A
The built in amplifier is a 500 watt rms. The true power of the T750X1BD for the one I purchased is 1069 watts @ 1 ohm. 539 @ 4 ohms. If the built in amplifier is removable to access the subwoofer connecting wires or if you use jumper wires from the existing amp ports, this amplifier would be more than sufficient.
austin  Jun 03, 2018
A
This amplifier hits hard..straight out of the box is 1082 watts @ 1 OHM...Well worth the money
brian  Jun 03, 2018
Q
Would this be efficient for 2 Alpine SWR 12D2â??S ? Wired Dow to 2 ohms? Or would they be under powered?
chris  Feb 23, 2018
1 answer
A
We recommend powering a subwoofer with at least 70% of the top RMS it can handle. This is for best sound quality. That being said, you can still power two of those subwoofers with this amp; just won't get the all the clarity and performance the subs are built to produce. Also, you can contact an advisor on 1-800-324-9695 or through our online chat for a personal recommendation on an amp for your subwoofers. My Bio: http://www.crutchfield.com/Support/Bio.aspx?bio=101

Q
Will this amp be good for 2 pioneer ts-sw3002s4 svc 4 ohm I have them wired down to 2ohms when I test the wires they show 2.5ohms I have a alpine mrv-f500 on them now and I have to turn it up all the way to get any real bass out of them?
matthew  Dec 30, 2017
1 answer
A
Yes. You'll get up to 750 watts RMS from the Rockford T750X1BD amplifier (375 RMS per sub) when you wire the two 4Ohm subs in parallel (for the 2 Ohm final load). The Pioneer are rated for up to 400 RMS each so, this is a quality match for them.
ryan  Jan 05, 2018 (Staff)
Q
How would this perform with a single kicker comp xv cvx102. 600rms 1200 peak?
pat  Nov 21, 2017
2 answers
A
With the T750X1BD, its power ratings are under sold. My build sheet says @ 1 ohm it's over 1k watts. So, if purchased, wire sub to 4 ohms and it it will do excellent.
austin  Jun 03, 2018
A
It's a decent match. You can wire the dual 2 Ohm coils in parallel to present the final 1 Ohm load to the amplifier. This will glean up to 750 watts RMS from the amp which is more than the Kicker is rated to handle (600 RMS). So, you'll just need to be sure to set the amplifier gain properly (always recommended) to ensure you do not blow out the sub. I hope that helps. My Bio: https://www.crutchfield.com/bio/Ryan
