Added the MM8077 to my SR8015. Made a significant difference to my theater sound...even though I have an 11.1 configuration.

Why can't companies disclose honest real world specs? This is not 7 channels of 150 watts, I know it says with 2 driven but at least make it clear what the rms rating is. I'm assuming its around 110 watts with 7 channels but there is nothing stating it, not here and not even Marantz website. Why would someone buy a 7 channel amplifier and only run 2 channels? I have $14,000 invested in my systems and do not want to be blowing out my Bowers and Wilkins. Nad originally got me with the 778t, says 140 watts per channel and later come to realize its 140x2 and 85 if using every channel but Nad did state that eventually, after my purchase though. Blame the retailers as much as the manufacturers. I still need some real time with the Marantz to see if it eliminated the clipping problem I was expecting but i may very well be returning this. For $2500 I expect some straightforward specs and not a guessing game.

Pros:

Cons: Wattage is exaggeration

Clean and transparent power delivery. Drives my Triton One.Rs beautifully. Aesthetically pleasing next to my Marantz AV7706. So far, so good.

Moved up from the 5 channel which is quite good itself, to go to 14 channels from 12. The higher quality parts and copper chassis, give this amp much more authority, lower noise, and headroom. Great amp for height and Dolby speakers. I have not tried using it for LCR etc.

This is my first dedicated power amp - I've been using integrated units all my life. I bought to use with my existing Yamaha RX-A880 av unit as the preamp. I had modest expectations for an improvement in sound - this unit blew me away. I felt like I had had just upgraded my entire system. Very happy with it - simple to set up - integrated flawlessly with my Yamaha.

Pros: Great sound. Easy installation and start up.

Cons: Marantz does not recommend putting units on top of this amplifier. Not an issue for me but could be for others.

Fine Amp

Clean and powerful. Perfect complement to the Marantz AV7705 Preamp Processor. Separate components from top-shelf manufacturers always lead to a better system. I am using an NAD amplifier to power the 4 Dolby Atmos speakers in my home theater. This unit provides for the "7" in a 7.2.4 system. Love the XLR balanced inputs.

Pros: Very clean and powerful amplifier with balanced XLR inputs.

Cons: none

Great amplifiers for my Klipsch speakers for my 9.2 home theater system. Good clear voice, Dolby and Atmos are very realistic. They trigger perfectly from the AV8505 and they run very cool with plenty of power.

Not sure yet. I bought one in 2014 , same model and that is now in a repair shop. It started to shut itself off. It may have been a lemon . I am hoping this is not the case with this one, but too soon to tell.

Pros: At this point it sounds really good.

Cons: Hopefully the problems I have had with my other one will not be the same with this one.

Marantz Power Amp MM8077

JesseRJ from NYC NY on 9/24/2013

The Marantz amp gives me enough power to play just about any classical work, some of which works need quite many watts. This is difficult to do with many amps but the 8077 takes it in its stride. Just yesterday I played an organ recording and it sounded as if the organ was right in front of me instead of speakers. All of this took place without any distortion. I feel even though it is not inexpensive, it is still a bargain and ordering it from Crutchfield is a good idea since they give you service for anything you buy from them which is more than any other company does.

Pros: Lots of power, easy to use, very clear sound

Cons: none
