AudioQuest PowerQuest 2
Dustin from Verona, WI on 8/7/2024
I have owned the AudioQuest PowerQuest 2 for about 1.5 years at the time of this review. The surge protection has worked twice to my knowledge, and possibly more times that I am not aware of. The first time was during an ice storm. The PowerQuest cut power about 15 minutes before the entire house lost power. The second time was during a thunderstorm. I happened to see a lightning strike in my field of vision and the PowerQuest simultaneously cut power for a second, then turned power back on. Nothing else in the house lost power that time. Having this protection is worth it to me. I would not hesitate to get another PowerQuest2 if I have the need for additional surge protection in the future.

Useful option
Brian from Arvada, CO on 3/17/2024
We use these with our subs, primarily as higher end surge suppressors. There may be some benefit to the filtering but I don't hear one with the subs. We use the next model up for our main receiver supply, and there we do hear an improvement in clarity and articulation in the treble. 3 stars for this model, 4 stars for the next one up.

Nice box so far. Your customer service rep did a fantastic job making me feel confident with this product. So far it's working fine.
Pros: Easy to locate plug ins. Multiple outlets, and large enough to handle larger surges than my previous protector that only could handle 400 Volts.
Cons: N/A

Simple, functional, and well made
Crutchfield customer from Houston, TX on 10/23/2022
I like the flexibility of installation options and the ease of access to the power plugs. I also like the dedicated high current circuitry as well as the dedicated TV plug. An additional plus is its ability to handle major surges with no internal damage to itself or the componentry. Construction appears quite robust and superior to my old protector.
Pros: Ease of installation and set-up.
Cons: Just a minor nit. Odd-shaped power plug necessitated drilling an oversize hole in the back of my AV cabinet. The unit is sitting on a shelf in the cabinet and plug would not fit thru existing wire pass throughs.

AudioQuest PowerQuest 2
Michael from Hilo, HI on 9/20/2022
I bought this to replace a cheap extension cord and to clean up the power to my old TV and stereo system, not for surge protection. After plugging my TV in the outlet dedicated to video devices I noticed that the picture was crisper, especially old black & white shows. It wasn't significant but noticeable. As far as my stereo is concerned, I haven't noticed any significant change but I'm not a critical listener. I may notice an improvement later. Overall, I'm satisfied.
Pros: Cleans up power - has USB charging ports
Cons: None

Brian from Duncansville, PA on 7/26/2022

Serious power protection and conditioning for my new system
Eric from Charlottesvle, VA on 5/4/2022
I recently moved from an apartment to a house, and I'm finally getting to build a system with a little "oomph." I'm investing in higher-quality components, so I wanted to give them some serious surge protection, and this item really fits the bill. I like that the manual even recommends what type of A/V gear should be hooked up to each outlet.
Pros: Solid construction, good protection, helpful instructions
Cons: Only five outlets

Nice protection for equipment
Crutchfield customer from Wallis, TX on 12/22/2021
After upgrading my old 1970s stereo with new audiophile equipment, I decided the old sacrificial type power strip just wasn't enough protection. I talked to the helpful/knowledgeable sales person at Crutchfield and he suggested the AudioQuest PowerQuest 2. When I opened the box I could see this was a well made and hefty unit. One very nice feature is the 2 high current outlets to supply the main amp and also the sub amp. I've no doubt whatsoever it will offer more protection than my old power strip. Hopefully it never gets tested with a power surge but the peace of mind is worth the cost of the unit.
Pros: Small enough to sit on the floor behind the equipment cabinet. 2 high current outlets. 2 USB charging points. Light to show unit status. Reasonable price for the quality of the unit.
Cons: Can't think of any.

WARNING
Ron from Marshfield, MA on 11/7/2021
Unit is plastic but well made. Many options for placement in your system set-up. Feel good about upgrading to a non sacrificial surge device. However, The 75-ohm connectors are sacrificial devices. The manual states they offer "some additional protection" what ever that means. This would have been good to know before I bought the unit. Overall happy with unit for the price point. System sounds good. My corner Klipschorns would show any issues with sound . Would buy again especially if not using the coaxial connectors.
Pros: Plugs are Non sacrificial protection
Cons: WARNING - Coaxial connectors are sacrificial

Entry level protection from Audioquest
Gill from Somewhere, Midwest on 3/28/2021
Wanted to get a new surge protector for my new Marantz NR1200 Network Audio Receiver, and was thinking about getting line conditioning as well, so I chose this as its relatively new and designed from Garth Powel who does Audioquests award winning Niagara series power conditioner/surge protectors. Ive never reviewed a surge protector as there usually isn't much to say. But since AudioQuest claims you will get better picture from 4K/8k screens via the 4K/8k enhanced outlet, and better sound via the high-current outlet for amplifiers and better quality from digital sources from the other 4 outlets. Ill give my opinions on the 4K/8k outlet, and the high-current outlet. For the 4K/8k enhanced outlet, i did notice a subtle difference in perceived image quality. The images supplied via PlayStation 4 pro (used with one of the 4 regular linear filter outlets) on my ACER 4K monitor (4K/8k outlet) looked sharper and the colors seemed more vivid, but nothing unnatural. Good stuff. Now the high-current outlet i cannot say i noticed an immediate improvement on anything versus the cheap GE surge strip I was originally using with the Marantz NR1200. But thats not a bad thing, because the sound was impressive to begin with. So to not have any apparent coloring or negating of sound quality is fine with me! Ive since added an AudioQuest NRG Z3 1 meter AC power cable to replace the Marantz stock cable, and Ive noticed improved sound with it, but thats another review for another day!
Pros: Affordable protection. Improved image quality. Improved sound. (With NRG power cable)
Cons: Was expecting a little more improvement in sound from the advertisements. Still a great product and doesn't negatively affect sound.
