A Robust High Quality Unit!
Matt from JACKSONVILLE, FL on 6/7/2025
We replaced our entire home theater system; new AV, speakers, and also added a Blu-ray player. It therefore seemed appropriate to replace our 23-year Monster protection unit as well. After doing a lot of research on various units, we chose this PowerQuest 3. It's definitely a beefy, high quality unit. We haven't had it long enough to really tell if it has resulted in better picture and sound quality, but as far as I'm concerned, those are ancillary benefits to its main purpose; surge protection.

Worth it for the protection
Larry from Grosse Pointe, MI on 11/17/2024
We haven't been struck by lightning yet, but I feel better knowing my expensive components are protected from power surges and brownouts. Both are all too frequent in our 99 year old house. The PowerQuest 3 also helped clean up the tangle of wires. Did its power conditioning improve sound? Maybe. Could be my imagination, but the sound from my Rotel CD14 mk II seems a bit smoother.

Noticeable improvement
John from Greenville, SC on 9/2/2024
I can't prove that it is the total reason for sound improvement since I also upgraded the power cord on the Amp but between the two I discern a nice audible. Difference with vinyl as well as cd. Better bass and separation.
Pros:
Cons: Wish it was somehow protected from dust accumulation.

Audio & video boost
Rob from Rockville, MD on 9/19/2023
The performance of the AudioQuest PowerQuest 3 justifies Crutchfield's recommendation and its enthusiastic user reviews. Without changing the other equipment in my AV system, increased color saturation, video contrast, picture clarity, and black background enhancements occurred. The PowerQuest 3 also makes it is easier to hear individual instruments and deepens the soundstage in stereo and multichannel formats. Both audio and video are more vivid and enjoyable across the board. The unit's comparatively stellar performance occurred even though it replaced well-regarded surge suppressors and line conditioners. Regarding aesthetics, the PowerQuest 3 lies flat or stands, which creates options for future repositioning. The plug is well-designed and my AVR runs cooler! Overall, the PowerQuest 3's cost is reasonable given the significant improvements it renders. While the PowerQuest 3 is well-matched for most mid-fi and higher end AV gear, AudioQuest's more costly power conditioners may be better suited for the highest end, analog audio/video equipment.
Pros: Audio and video improvements across the board. AVR runs cooler. Easy to install.
Cons: Cost is justified by the enhancements it renders.

The perfect surge protector for high-end audiophile systems.
Timothy from Katy, TX on 7/10/2023
Large unit with specialty connections to include large and small loads and even network connections. My Marantz 40n power amp and Klipschorn speakers feel safe. Highly recommended, and three Crutchfield delivery and service are always world class.
Pros: Sturdy construction. Lots of power connections. Has two fast USB charging ports. Has protections for ethernet and TT coaxial connections.
Cons: Doesn't need protection ports for old phone jack connections, which no-one uses anymore.

Using this PQ3 to protect and power my studio monitor speakers and DAW so that I get the cleanest sound/recordings/playback as possible. All cables for my monitors and microphone are Mogami Gold, for the same purpose. Take these steps to keep the noise floor to an absolute minimum. The PQ3 functions/performs as advertised!!!
Pros: Protection. Clean Sound.
Cons: None yet.

This line conditioner/surge protector was easy to connect my audio/video system into. The plugs meant for TV and amp/sub woofer are labeled. It's much better than a cheap little surge protector that sacrifices itself and then doesn't tell you your electronics aren't protected. This is the best way to protect your electronics.

AudioQuest PowerQuest 3
Quan from San Diego, CA on 7/12/2022
Power supply is one of the three important aspects of HI-Fi sound. I used to use Furutech e-TP80 which is more expensive than this AudioQuest PowerQuest 3 but the effect is much the same: protective, stable and pure power, and clarity. Love it. The reason I gave it 4 stars is that the PowerQuest 3 seems not to help reduce the hum from the speakers as many other reviews claim it would (I use an all-tube amplifier to drive the speakers. It is said that tube amplifiers characteristically cause the hums and there's no way to kill that hum completely. I don't know.) I feel peace of mind knowing that the PowerQuest 3 is there taking care of the well-being of my system.
Pros: Easy to set up either hung up on the wall or lying flat on the ground with extra USB plugs.
Cons: Made in China.

Brian from Spicewood, TX on 4/20/2022
Easy to set up. Good design. Appears to be better for use with a full home theater/AV system rather than a strictly 2 channel audio system. Will likely end up using in that manner rather than for my audio system.
Pros: good design; solid layout

Significant Video and Audio Improvements
Andy from Oklahoma City, OK on 4/16/2022
This power strip is great. It is well-designed because it has above average space between each outlet. I can actually plug in mini power adapters in consecutive outlets such as the Martin Logan speaker power adapters for their ElectroMotion ESL speakers and still have about 1 inch of space in between. I used to have two power strips to power my home theater system. Each power strip has 7 outlets, but because the space in between outlets are small that I needed two separate power strips to get everything plugged in. Now, I have consolidated to just this power strip. I got 7 components plugged in to this new power strip and still has an outlet for an additional amplifier. Additionally, I really like the power conditioner feature. It has noticeably improved my 5.1 surround sound system: Onkyo TX-NR929, Martin Logan ESL, C2, FX2, and Dynamo 1000. The bass is tighter and less muddy. There are less background noises. I can hear voices, instruments, and sound effects better. It sounded like I have upgraded my AVR. Furthermore, my LG OLED C8 picture quality is clearer, too. This is my first time spending a significant amount of money on a power strip and it is well worth it.
Pros: - Above average space between outlets - Noticeably improved video and audio performance - Great warranty

Two benefits and a Bargain
Michael from Roanoke, TX on 4/3/2022
I bought this primarily for a power surge protector. I was skeptical that it would filter out noise from the electricity. I've read the articles about the filtering of the power supply and improvements to the sound of the stereo components. Then I connected all of my stereo equipment to it , plugged in the PowerQuest 3 into the wall outlet, and flipped the power switch. The change in the sound of my stereo was immediate and significant. The sound became more detailed, clear, and stable. I was able to easily pinpoint the instruments and vocals. There was also more detail in the instruments played. For example, Dylan's "Another Cup of Coffee Before I Go". The acoustic guitar, violin, and drums had more depth and nuances to them. I can recommend this for protection and the added benefit of making your stereo sound better. Plus, you get peace of mind that your electronics are protected. If the PowerQuest3 fails, they will pay for your equipment. It works and is a bargain!
Pros: Easy to use. Protects my stereo components. Good cord length. It reaches from the wall to my stereo. Well built.
Cons: None

Versatile
Omelyan from Kensington, MD on 3/24/2022
This is a very versatile power conditioner/surge protector. It's solidly built. It can be laid down on one side, or stood up vertically. There's no need for me to add anything to Crutchfield's more than adequate description of its' features. I would just say that, as I expected, the sound quality of my system is unchanged. I never did believe that power conditioners affect sound quality.
Pros: Lots of different outputs.
Cons: None.

Dirty power, solved
Crutchfield customer from Manteca, CA on 10/19/2021
Does what we needed it to do. Dirty power with other appliances on it causes hums, ground loops, etc, and this device solved it to a point beyond my hearing. I can't hear any distortion or noise of any kind, and this circuit is noisy! Good stuff.
Pros: Did exactly what we needed it to do, isn't as expensive as full isolation transformers, has many suitable outlets.
Cons: None. If anything, it has more protection than I needed but it's nice to have those options for the future . (coaxial, rj11)

AudioQuest PowerQuest 3
Crutchfield customer from Bayamon, PR on 8/25/2021
Audio Quest to the rescue, one more time. Especially my receiver plugged into the "high current" outlet, it is now so quiet "electrically". It kind of put the "high end" feeling into my "not perfectly high end" gear.
Pros: Functionally, all of it!
Cons: At least in my setup, I could benefit from a completely flat design. I believe that the simultaneously flat and upright design could, at times, actually work against each other. Couldn't it be designed so that the plugs could be accessed from just one direction or the other as chosen by the customer?

This replaced an old Panamax from 10 years ago. I drove a Panasonic plasma tv thru it for 15 years. With the constant power outages where I live, I attribute it's longevity to a power smoother such as this. If you want to protect your system, this is a must-have, imho. Evidently, this one is not "sacrificial" so it will last even longer than older models using outdated technology. Buy it.
Pros: Powerful Lots of outlets

Novel design but expensive for what it is
James from LAS VEGAS, NV on 1/18/2020
Designing a built-in for the living room and bought the AudioQuest PowerQuest 3 as one of a couple power solutions for all new AV equipment planned. Purchased for two reasons. First, the form factor is flexible and space-saving. Second, the USB charging ports are a big plus. The PowerQuest 3 is all plastic and a bit goofy looking. It looks like a VHS tape rewinding machine from the late 1980s. The plastic stand and the way it attaches to the body is the worst thing about the PowerQuest 3's design. I put it on, and then had a lot of trouble removing it, as it felt like I was going to break the plastic tabs that secure it to the underside of the body. Like all power strip-type surge protectors/power conditioners, it has a power cord that will be way too long for the majority of installations. About five feet will be coiled up in the back of the cabinet in my case. The attached power cord features a flat plug, which may be a benefit in some installations. As for improvement in audio/video, I can't say with any confidence I've noticed a difference from what we had before. The TV (Panasonic TC-P55ST60) and AV receiver (NAD T 748V2) were previously plugged in to a 10-year-old metal-bodied APC C5 that cost $70 new. Should probably A/B the PowerQuest 3 with plugging directly in to the wall for a more useful comparison, but was first more curious about how it compared to the older (and much cheaper) APC. Ultimately, any perceived improvement would be subjective.
Pros: Space-saving design with eight (8) easily accessible outlets; four (4) convenient USB charging ports; may noticeably improve audio/video.
Cons: Expensive for what it is; goofy looking; poorly designed stand attachment; too long power cord; may not noticeably improve audio/video.

Very pleased with purchase of AudioQuest PowerQuest3
Andrew from BROOMALL, PA on 12/17/2019
Purchased two of these units for my existing equipment with an eye more towards protecting my future purchase of a new pre-pro controller.I have read several very positive reviews about these new Audio Quest outlets in both Stereophile and The Absolute Sound magazines as well as on this site. The best feature,I think,is the fact that these units protect electronic equipment without degrading over time and failing. My very first Crutchfield purchase of a substantial surge protector was in the mid- '90's (PanaMax Max1000) worked extremely well but did eventually breakdown and fail. I felt that ,rather than buy another conventional surge protector,it would be better to buy one that would last longer with no worry about breakdowns. My LG 4K tv does seem to look a bit better with a slightly sharper picture now that it is plugged into the PowerQuest 3.It has plenty of outlets for a whole system whether you have a single receiver-based setup or separates with pre amp/processor and multiple amps .Lots of extra outlets for future upgrades and overall flexibility of setups.
Pros: plenty of room for different sized power plugs and plenty of extra outlets for future upgrades.USB charging ports are a nice extra.
Cons: Ethernet and TV jacks are only protected by conventional means. The input/output jacks will eventually degrade over time if you live in an area with lots of lightning storms and power line issues.

Look like i can't listen music without Powequest 3
kvr from Tampa, FL on 6/17/2019
The truth is most of us miss interprets the 'Noise' and 'lack of power' as some sort of sonic character of sound. Like chestyness (noise or lack of power) interprets as Great Tone, Noise in highs interprets as more reveling, Closeness and shoutness interprets as forward ..Lack of bass precision as more bass. So.. on.. some of weak sound characteristics perceived as something else. All these can happened when we don't drive speakers with quality high current (doesn't mater numbers) or noise in source components and cables. Previous to this I was using Emotiva Cmx2 along with thick signal company power cable for kef ls50 w. I did noticed better frequency extension. and Furman M-8X2 for rest all sources. But always concern about blurred mids and upper bass. Even then i had upgraded to NRG 2 line power cable and i left with disappointment. My Quest never stops there and I purchased PowerQuest 3 and connected Outlet 4, 8 -> KEF LS50 Wireless, Outlet 1, 5-> Apple TV and Sony TV and Outlet 2, 6-> Node2i and Audiolab 6000cdt. After I plugged in , playing a couple of songs, it did not take time, In no time I see hell lot of difference . After spending 3 hours of music listening session with well know albums via CDs and node 2i , all I can say is "Music just floating in 3 dimensional space". With great transparency and dynamics. More I increase volume more 3d dimensional music floating I get . Not at all collapsed . Same goes even at low volumes.
Pros: Generally we never notice AC, fridge humming noise sound until they stops. But we get disturbed a lot. Once all stops, we get so much relax . Same thing happened with PowerQuest . No chestyness in tone , no more blurred mids. Or busyness or shoutness. Very calm detailed floating music listening experience. also I watched some HDR movies . I felt like some thing cleared, like I use to feel after car detailing , like removed mat finish film layer over screen. colors got more shine and sparkle
Cons: None. but needed one more high current outlet for sub woofer .
