Ka-Boom!
Lamont from BROOKLYN, NY on 6/18/2025
Bang and pow! This subwoofer for an older and probably soon to be discontinued Model really kick a__. This sub really has a "call the cops" or "disturb your neighbors that you can't stand" kinda sound. It can really shake, rattle and roll. It can really do justice to a medium to large room. I myself had to turn the gain (volume) down a little just to keep it in check. It is really a pretty good sub for the price. At one time this sub was about $300 more than what it sells for now. Talk about more bang for the buck. For those that want a subwoofer to enhance their music especially those who use bookshelf speakers as mains, this may be a good acquisition for you. There are better choices in the Klipsch line or other manufacturers but if you don't want to spend a month's rent or a lot of money, you should try this sub out. It does have punch to it and probably delivers a good bass response for those into home theater as well.
Pros: Good quality bass that enhances music. Enough to fill a mid to large room. A nice sub for anyone starting out with a first sub. Very modest in price for a pretty good subwoofer.
Cons: None that I have encountered at this time I'm happy to say.

Not a speaker for a small room or neighbors that live close by! These speakers were worth every penny and put out a clean, clear bass line like sitting at a concert stageside listening to Geddy Lee warming his bass up for a run with the amps cranked wide open.

Klipsch R-120 SW is sublime!
Steve from STARKVILLE, MS on 5/2/2025
OUTSTANDING sound, sheesh! Deep clean, Set-up was EASY! I prepared in advance by reading and understanding the .pdf manual. Paired with Klipsch RP8000F2 speakers, LG 55" OLED, and a Sony UBP-800M2 Blu-ray, and some Cleer Enduro ANC wireless phones which I haven't tried yet. I got the system set-up and started watching Blu-ray, listening to CD's, LG and other content provided. The Klipsch R-120SW sounds PERFECT and works flawlessly. It sounded so good I didn't use the auto-calibration mic and software included. The room is 12' deep (viewing seating) but is about 30 feet long. It's kind of an open floor plan. An opening in the wall to the kitchen right behind the viewing seating/sofa didn't seem to affect anything. I toed the speakers in, about 10' feet apart with the sub centered under the TV about a foot from the wall under the bookcase desk in an enclosure/area about three feet square. This actually sounded better than I thought it would with the sub centered in front of viewing in a fairly enclosed space. It truly feels like you're sitting in the middle of a sound stage with nothing harsh or protruding in the way or distracting. The sub is easily adjustable on the sub or from the Onkyo 6100 software. Onkyo has Klipsch calibrations already available in its (EASY) setup. You can also adjust parameters yourself but the Klipsch sounded great from the first sound out of it. It all sounds synergistic. GREAT system, GREATER service from Crutchfield helping decide. TY!
Pros: 1. Great, easy setup with Onkyo 6100 system. 2. Sounds clean, unobtrusive, and musical. 3. High quality for such a great value.
Cons: 1. None. Phasing and gain is still murky in my mind but out of the box it already sounds great! I'm not sure tweaking is needed.

Brian from Cape Coral, FL on 4/1/2025
The set up on the Klipsch sub is easy and quickly accomplished. Just read the instructions. The bass response is excellent. I've played bass for many years and the bass line is something I listen for. I also like that you could pair two of these for awesome response. I played some old recordings from my 12 year old PC and was wowed. Next I put in a DVD of Titanic and was blown away by the pure low register part of the musical score. Oh by the way, this is my second purchase of the Reference R-120SW. The other one is paired to a Denon Amp and some Pioneer bookshelf speakers.

An Engaging Contribution
Wes from SW Arkansas on 3/6/2025
The Klipsch R-120SW was ordered as a replacement for older Klipsch KSW-12 that served duty up front in a two subwoofet home theater setup. The R-120SW arrived quickly and in great condition. Setup was easy, and it blends well my existing rear subwoofer. Whether movies, multichannel, or 2 channel music, the sub makes an engaging contribution.
Pros: Stylish Punch Accurate

Full, solid bass to complement their RP-600M II bookshelf speakers
Daniel from Bristol, CT on 3/5/2025
I got the Klipsch Reference Premiere RP-600M II bookshelf pair a month ago, and the sound is crystal clear, but lacked the umph I'm used to with the Polk floor speakers I had. Got this today, and it is perfect complement to the bookshelf pair. The depth of the sound fills the first floor (and the other two floors too!). Great control over the gain let's me control how many neighbors I bother. :) I love it.

David from Indianapolis, IN on 2/27/2025
I purchased this subwoofer to add to my set of The Fives. It was not until I tried to connect the subwoofer that I leaned that it must be connected to an amplifier. So, the Fives won't work, despite RCA jacks on both items, and reviews talking how much bass the Fives have.
Pros: I have been a fan of Klipsch speakers for years.
Cons: I wish there was a way to have known about the compatible issue before I baught the subwoofer

Crisp sound great bass
Steve from Evansville, MN on 2/15/2025
I've have had klipsch speakers since 1989 I still have them but retired them. Last yr I bought a pair of r620f towers which sound great but needed more bass . I looked for awhile online at other sites for subwoofers and lots of negative reviews saying lack bass im not sure how that's possible this subs in break in period and sounds great gains below half and receiver volume is low yet rattling the house was my goal lol and it is doin just fine. Side note I ordered sub on Friday and received it weds since package was exposed to the cold weather I brought in house and let it get to room temperature 2 days later I hooked it up .
Pros: Crutchfield has been around for along time aslong as me actually and I wouldn't have a problem buying from them again. Speakers nice and really easy to set up and well packaged
Cons: Only con I see is if you have a smaller room it might seem smaller with this subwoofer

Powerful sub. Added this to an older surround sound system and it woke it up perfectly. In a small living room, with an ok receiver the sub gives all the rumble and shake you want in movies and games. And without any distortion or rattles. AMAZING BASS and Sound, but worthless manual
Roger from Venice, FL on 1/30/2025
I've absolutely BLOWN AWAY by the power and sound I get now when I play music or watch movies with this amazing and powerful subwoofer. The price and Crutchfield's signature high quality service made getting this a no brainer. My only complaint and why I didn't give this a 5 star rating was the Klipsch manual that came with the subwoofer. It's completely worthless in my opinion. I'm not an audio acoustical engineer so I would have likes a detailed description of what all of the settings and controls do on the back of the subwoofer and how to set it up for the best quality sound when paired with my Klipsch self powered speakers. I went to the Klipsch website hoping for more and was only disappointed more by the lack of information.
Pros: Amazing deep full rich bass Superb sound quality Very powerful subwoofer (shakes the windows)
Cons: Product manual is nearly worthless.

Solid punch, great tone, great price.
Jay from Pinellas Park, FL on 1/8/2025
Recently purchased this sub and it sounds great. Great price. Looks good. Nice punch and sound quality and"tone". No issues with the sub at all. It's replacing a massive twin 12 inch Miller and Kreisel large home sub I had from before I downsized my living space and it holds it's own sound wise. My only issue is not actually sub-related, it relates to streaming services. Switching between my five streaming services gives me five different signal qualities. From quite crappy to excellent. Making a "one size fits all" set up difficult. On one streaming service it's too much and on another it's not enough. Not the fault of the sub.
Pros: Price. Sound quality. Size and weight..
Cons: Printing on back panel is very pale and difficult to read. It's rear ported and may give you some placement difficulties.

Great product as always from Klipsch subwoofer really good bass can't go wrong with this subwoofer for the money I done a bass test that goes from 20hz and up it shuffled at 20 HZ and 25. But at 30 HZ he started playing good bass. So when it says it has a frequency response of 29 HZ it does from what I can tell and makes movie sound like you're in the action and makes bass sound on music. Sound flawless
Pros: Fairly lightweight and got a great Auto. Takes a very small signal to cut it on
Cons: Sometimes can be a little boomy, but that may depend on your room

These Klipsch are great out of the box and my 7.2 system was back up to being fully operational after some calibration. A foundation for full, natural presence.
Antonio from Guaynabo, Puerto Rico on 12/6/2024
It's OK to go all out and boom away. This will do. It absolutely will annoy your neighbors if you that's your aim. But if you just want to fill the bottom of the soundstage with the missing lower octave your very decent monitors on stands strain to achieve, but can't do with 6 inch drivers, because physics, you know, maybe this will do for you. Could a huge, dirt cheap 12 incher deliver clear, honest, deep bass? Enter 2.1 Stereo. (heresy?) After a couple of hours tweaking, I feel like I hit somewhere near a sweet spot. The acoustic and electric bass, so obviously discernible on any decent rig is still right there, but stays it there, balanced, every note down the last octave, with clear and authoritative presence. Goosebumps anyone? Maybe later a little more tweaking on LPF and/or Gain will make it even sweeter, very doubtful, but that's part of the huge fun of being a Melomaniac. Audiophiles, on the other hand, spend thousands on "improvements" they claim only their "Golden Ears" can hear. All right rich cousins! Your overspending drives innovation for all us down here on planet earth. Thank you very much ! So... A Whole New World
Albert from Johnson City, TN on 12/3/2024
This brought new life and much more rich and dynamic sound to my existing soundsystem. I bought this to connect to my Wiim Ultra which is connected to some powered bookshelf speakers. I cut out the bass on the bookshelf speakers and spent just a few minutes dialing in the crossover on the subwoofer to pick up the missing bass. This added a whole new depth of sound I didn't realize was missing.
Pros: Very powerful, great control, good range of output without getting port "rattle"
Cons: It had a little resonance rattle out of the box on my laminate floor, but went away if I put pressure downward on the sub. I ended up buying some noise isolation feet from another vendor and replacing the stock feet on the sub. No more issues after that. So a good upgrade might be a new set of rubberized noise isolation feet like I did.

Crutchfield customer from STORY CITY, IA on 11/26/2024
This subwoofer is fabulous. In a medium size room, with the subwoofer output on my WiiM Ultra set at 0 dB, I have the gain on the sub turned down to maybe 10 o'clock. At maybe 2 o'clock I had to set the Ultra's output to the max -15 dB and it was still a little too loud. The output is strong but very clean. Maybe I should have purchased the 10" model.
Pros: Amazing buy at the sale price.

Great experience
Rick from Flint, MI on 11/21/2024
Great experience with shipping and delivery fast and secure, using this for a tube based hifi setup, took a bit of tweaking to get it dialed in but it does what I hoped it would, pickles up the low end nice and tight set to 60hz at a quarter gain anything more gets Muddy, and develops quite a hum with the gain any higher...

Epic idea: buy the R120-SW
T from Weaverville, NC on 11/14/2024
I did lots of shopping for my 5.1 setup a while back, and with that came a lot of research. I settled on the R120-SW. The rest of my system (towers 620F and RM41 rear channels) is also Klipsch. It all just sounds... epic. Like, it absolutely fills an entire 1300sqft space with 12ft ceilings. I'm beyond happy with the setup, and especially the sub that levels everything off just how I like it.

Tight, clean, seamless, low bass frequencies !
Richard from Weston, MA on 11/14/2024
First Klipsch sub I've bought in years. Klipsch products always have a nice finish & feel to them-solid, well-constructed with nice veneers. The cabinets are big but the larger box/baffle, with a small port in the rear of the cabinet, keep the large drivers from becoming too boomy, and the heavier cabinet keeps the unit more stable on the floor. This has a nice, tight, rapid-responding bass that provides deep bass without boom. The electronics on the rear apron allow for better matching with small satellites (my case) or bookshelf speakers, so that the transition from mid frequencies from the satellites/bookshelves to the low frequencies produced by the sub feel more seamless. I have not yet tried this sub with floor-standing speakers, where the transition can be more subtle and seamless.
Pros: Great use of newer technologies & materials in the fabrication of the 12" drivers, while maintaining the warm sound of traditional paper/fabric drivers.
Cons: A big box- but larger dimensions & overall size and greater heft provide more stability at louder levels.

Roger from Keller, TX on 11/10/2024
So far, I'm very happy with this sub. I bought it along with the powered Klipsch speakers for a turntable. They blend seamlessly with subtle power. I haven't played it at higher levels yet but with rock/reggae the sub hits all the right sounds without being over bearing. I tried giving it 5 stars but it's not letting me for some reason.
Pros: Smooth power

Don;t get wrong! 5 star performance but the interface is lacking. I know where all the adjustment knobs are and what they do. Rick from CAMPBELL, CA on 8/11/2024
Purchased the Klipsch Reference R-120SW as a replacement for my Klipsch KSW200 which after thirty years of amazing performance finally gave out. The specifications for both are the same, but thirty years of Klipsch improvements are very noticeable. The integration into my existing system was very easy and the sound performance is excellent. I also recently purchased the Klipsch SPL-120 for use on a separate system dedicated to the listening of my extensive vinyl collection. While I would rate the SPL-120 a bit above the R-120SW, the R-120SW is an excellent alternative which I highly recommend.

Great sound and easy set-up. The footprint was somewhat larger than I expected, but to be fair, I didn't measure, but it appears the design could have been more economical space-wise. To me, the primary concern is the sound, and this sub-woofer excels in that category for the price. I would definitely recommend this product.

It gets the 5 stars, becasue this is the best all around sub I've ever seen. Its not wasting its time and energy going down to 20 hertz that you can't even hear anyway: cuts off at 30 hertz... When they're at this price you can buy two and really annoy the heck outta your neighbors. I mean the next cheapest one is a 8", why would you ever go with that 8" when this is just slightly more? No need to buy the SPL model, two of these is enough to shake the pictures off the walls.
Pros: Price and quality don't get any better. They've made this sub for years.
Cons: Boomy resonating bass; not punchy, but its a ported box.

Big Sound
Peter from Amesbury, MA on 5/2/2024
Well they were right!!! Other reviewers. The reason for 4 instead of 5 star, at first it wouldn't start up. We still don't know why. There is a lot bass I have it set at about 1/4 off of zero. And it sounds great. One thing for other to know is the auto setting run always on. The on setting will turn on when it gets a signal. Then when you turn off the receiver it goes to stand by for 15 minutes or so and shuts down. Which is what the Auto setting is suppose to do. Odd, yes but once you know it. Not a problem. I will be keeping a eye on it just in case it decides on to run again. And yes it was getting power and hooked up correctly. Haha
Pros: Packed well, big sound, good buy for the money. I don't know why someone would need bigger in a home setting.
Cons: It just scared with not starting right up.

Klipsch R-120SW provide exceptional bass
jim from Lemon Grove, CA on 4/26/2024
I bought this subwoofer to install in the master bedroom to enhance movie viewing. And it delivered. I have this unit hooked up to a Yamaha R-N602 network receiver. No matter whether I am listening to music from my server, SiriusXM, Net Radio, Dual 1228 turntable, or CD player, the bass is now amazing. Before adding this device, sound was produce by Infinity towers up front and Infinity bookshelfs in the rear. Bass was adequate but was a bit lacking until now. What a difference. With Yamaha's MusicCast system I can link all my receivers and amps while playing music and the entire house will shake. There is a Klipsch R-121SW in the living room providing even more bass. And watching movies is even better than going to the theater now. We have 70" Samsung flat screens in all the rooms accompanying the sound system. The thunderous explosions in the movies are almost scary with these subwoofers. Sometimes I am afraid one of the windows is going to break! Realize that the sound system I have is comprised of all 2 channel devices. Living room: Yamaha CA-810 integrated amp (circa 1978), Yamaha WXC-50. CA -810 driving Bose 901 Series 5 speakers and with the Klipsch R-121SW connected to the WXC-50. Living Room TV wall: Yamaha R-N303 driving Bose 4.2's and EPI 70 Series II. Master bedroom: Yamaha R-N602 driving the 4 Infinity speakers along with the R-120SW connected to it. I have A/V receivers with digital sound processors, and neither one of these sound as good as setup I have now.
Pros: Smaller footprint than it's cousin R-121SW Slightly more subdued that the R-121SW Provides clean thundering base Wife can use the subwoofer cases as flower pot stands Makes movies and regular TV phenomenal to watch
Cons: None that I can think of

David from New Fairfield, CT on 4/25/2024
these are awesome subs, they sound all as good as id expected, and are very powerful for 200w i have a pair of them that i use in a 2.1 config, each sub is paired with a full range tower and the subs complete the lower ranges. i have them set 1/3 power, and LFE, and set my 100w Denon DRA800H sub pre out to 1 octave of the bottom range of my towers woofers(150Hz) the woofers start to drop at around 75Hz or so. i use the receiver to control levels at that point, and WOW! the stage, drive and woof is phenomenal. i only wish i knew the LFE cutoff of the subs to figure roll-off on the knob. I'm assuming 250Hz but it might be 200 [shrugs shoulders] so a scale would be nice ending in LFE over all these are AWESOME! OH! AND AAAAND i got them open box and saved quite a few bucks. THANK YOU CRUTCHFIELD! AND Customer Service Agent ELLIE!
Pros: incredible sounding very powerful bass great looking sturdy construct and very stationary grill no vibrating noises rev phase sw auto power on function great VALUE

Well, it definitely is a subwoofer. While I'm still waiting for it to "break-in," I have to say i expected a better experience so far. I have the unit in a rather large living room. It is Corner loaded to an extent just because that's how the room is laid out. The gain is barely turned up from 0. The unit is hooked direct to to an LFE output on a new Yamaha integrated amp. i also have the direct settings enabled, so no tone or loudness is coloring the sound. This unit is complimenting a pair of KEF bookshelf speakers that quite honestly are amazing. My previous Velodne subwoofer was lost in a house fire, and this doesn't even come close. The Bass is sloppy and boomy, very peaky, and quite honestly I am working through the idea of actively attenuating the input to see if i can get this beast in check. It will definitely shale your house, but the musical nature synonymous of a brand like Klipsch has been tarnished in my eyes. I guess I should have looked harder for a local audition before pulling the trigger. I suspect this unit hits a price point for the company, but I would rather pay more for quality than suffer through. maybe i just have a bad unit, but i did try another brand sub to see if is was getting some strange artifacts from the integrated amp, but that just anchored my evaluation that this thing is a boom box. i read some reviews afterwards that were high on the scale, but upon readding, they all say this is more of a theater unit and less of a musical unit.
Pros: Very loud
Cons: Sloppy and peaky.

Great upgrade from an older system
Rob from Fernandina Beach, FL on 3/10/2024
Replaced an older Boston Acoustics Soundware 5.1X running on my Denon avr-s960h with a pair of Klipsch RP-5000F towers, an RP-500c center speaker and an R-12SW subwoofer. Wow! Didn't know what I was missing. Plan to add some rear speakers at some point. Great service and fast delivery. When I had to call Crutchfield I actually spoke to a live breathing person living in the lower 48. Plan to shop here often :-)
Pros: Movies sound so much better. Added subwoofer brings home the bass.

I haven't had it very long, but it really puts out a punch with movies and especially music. I have the gain turned way down and it still rocks. I will get all of the speakers re-set up with my Onkyo NR646 after I get it broken in. I had been looking at the R-121SW but for the price this can't be beat. When the box was delivered it was about the size of a dorm size refrigerator.
Pros: Great brand and super price. Two day delivery.

Barry from West Decatur, PA on 1/28/2024
I recently replaced my forty-five year old Technics receiver (RIP) with a Dennon DRA 800H, and while the sound quality is great there was nowhere near the bass that my old system could muster. I'm not faulting it, and by no means am I an expert in audio reproduction, and I'm certainly not going to spend thousands of dollars on a sound system, but the Yamaha that I have in my garage is the same way, just not enough adjustment. After installing this sub, what a difference. It has brought my system to life and given me what was missing even at lower volume levels. I would definitely recommend this even if someone has a higher end stereo unit.

Klipsch quality & value
Crutchfield customer from Cave Junction, OR on 1/18/2024
Great sounding subwoofer, adds a serious dynamic to my system, it replaced an old M&K powered subwoofer which was amazing. It would cost more than the Klipsch to get it fixed. My front speakers are Klipsch with a couple of M&K surround book shelf speakers so the R-120SW rounds out my system nicely, the only critic I have is the Klipsch manual was fairly bare bones, that is to say someone with no prior knowledge of setting up a subwoofer might be a bit puzzled, but that's when Crutchfields great support would come into play.
Pros: Clean bass, great looking cabinet
Cons: skimpy manual

This is an excellent woofer. The crossover control allows you to blend it precisely with your mains. All About That Bass
Crutchfield customer from Port Clinton, OH on 10/31/2023
Room placement and adjusting the subwoofer to your system make a huge difference in low hertz performance! After several days I'm still tweaking the settings after finding the optimal room placement. This sub from Klipsch compliments my Klipsch 280f towers powered by a S701 Yamaha integrated amp. Adding this sub to a 2 channel stereo made the bass pleasantly blend in the soundstage without being overly prominent. A relatively small expenditure for a very noticeable improvement in sound quality.

Much more power than people say it has. I have the gain turned to almost negative max. At even halfway (0db gain) the house shakes. It can handle a room larger than 25'x25'. I would pair it with speakers that are running 200 watts at least. My receiver is running 90 W per channel into the 3 fronts and the sub is much more powerful. I am adding an amp to bring them up to 275 each. Should even it out.

Booming in Real Time

Being a neophyte concerning in-home theater systems, I did not know what I was getting myself into! But it soon became clear how easy it was adding the R-120SW to my Denon AVR X-1700H to enhance my built-in ceiling speaker system. You know you have done a good thing when your better half comes into the family room with a smile. Many are called but only a few are chosen....this is the chosen one!!
Pros: Easy setup and amazing sound quality. Really fills the room with rich musical tones and real movie caliber.
Cons: I wished I had purchased two of them!

Great Bass Presence
Gerald from Summerville, SC on 5/27/2023
A few months ago, I purchased a pair of Klipsch Heresey speakers. I am very pleased with them (thank you, Crutchfield). They are so clear and transparent, but the bass does not extend all the way down. Thank you Paul Klipsch, it is a wonderful design! I just wanted a little more deep bass punch. I had looked at some off-brand subwoofers at other on-line retailers; they came at a very attractive price. I really wanted to match my Klipsch system; when I saw the R-120SW at this ridiculous sale price, I jumped. Boy, am I glad I did! I just hooked them up about 30 minutes ago and could hear the difference immediately. I was testing with a CD of Big Band music: "Strike Up the Band", a Glenn Miller tribute, Avalon SOLCD75. It is a modern recording of a traditional performance. Now you really notice/feel the acoustic bass when it is plucked. Now I have the sound presence I was did not quite have before! Set up is a Sansui AU-717 integrated amp (43 years old and going strong) with Klipsch Heresey main speakers. The AU-717 has a pre-out/main in connection. This is after the volume control and before the power amp stage. With the control switch set to bridge direct, the preamp output is active and carries all the sound. I ran a stereo RCA cable from the pre-out to the Klipsch sub; works great. I will fine tune the crossover frequency and gain on the sub; easy! The R-120SW came beautifully packaged. It has a strong cardboard box and generous styrofoam. No damage! Thanks!
Pros: Great bass, fit my room, wonderful sale price
Cons: I have another box to store(VBG)

Doug from Littleton, CO on 5/17/2023
Generally this is an excellent subwoofer. The port is tuned to around 40-45 hertz which means if you're using this for music you might want to select one of the sealed SVS subs because there will be a boost or peak around 40 hertz which makes this non-linear in response. I tested this with pop music, movies, twitch IRL streams and DJ streams and with TV -- and it's excellent for the price. My pre-amp has dual SE outputs and hooking this up was super easy on the extra pair. I was able to volume match this to my loudspeakers at about 45% volume on the sub gain control. My loudspeaker amplifier does about 320 watts into 8 ohms. This thing can get kind of loud so if you're in a apartment with neighbors or condo you might want to keep this on lower volume since it will rattle windows, glass and home items pretty easily on full volume. I think the 200 RMS is very super conservative I think this thing more has a rating around 350 watts in comparison to some other subs I have owned in the past. I loaded up some seasons 3 Mandalorian when they're re-taking Mandalore and it was a fun watch and made the whole experience way more immersive. I think because of the 40 hertz emphasis due to the ported design I will eventually upgrade to a SVS SB-1000 because it's a sealed system and more suited to music, which I do frequently with my HiFI system. I'll probably put this into my office system once I upgrade. This is a steal for the price.

I have not had a sub on my sound system in years due to living arrangements and not wanting to upset neighbors. Now that I have a media room in the basement of my house and can do what I want with no fear of neighbors, and this sub changed the dynamics of the whole system. It puts out a serious amount of bass that blends in perfectly with the rest of my 5.1.2 Atmos set up. On top of it, I got it on a stellar deal from Crutchfield, which makes the results that much more pleasing!
Pros: Clean design, simple set up, blends well with the rest of the system.
Cons: It is large so make sure you have enough space to place it appropriately.

First Time Buyer from Crutchfield
Rockne from Marion, IA on 5/1/2023
Relied heavily on review from the Crutchfield expert. Couldn't be happier with the performance of this first subwoofer that I've ever owned. Paired with vintage (aka old) Polk Audio Monitor 10's and SVS Prime Satellites. The sound is amazing and the feel of the base from the subwoofer gives playing 50+ year old albums a new dimension for someone not willing to spend top dollar on high end equipment. Thank you, Crutchfield for an excellent deal on this equipment. I also purchased a Yamaha RX-V6 used to drive this equipment. I only mention this because the original owner purchased it from Crutchfield and it is outstanding.
Pros: First is the great sales price. Excellent (and spot on) review that I relied on to make my final decision. Appreciate the gain control that allows me to determine perfect setting for my listening ability/pleasure.
Cons: As a first time subwoofer owner setup was a little daunting.

A wonderful upgrade
Nicholas from Maumee, OH on 4/26/2023
Previously had two Polk 10" subs and after one started to fail I researched this model from Klipsch. My one overall complaint is that this previous setup felt rather flat and stale. I say the upgrade was well worth it. I am comfortable with this one unit replacing both of my previous. Sound: There is a vast difference in clarity and depth. Indefinitely suggest setting this sub to the lowest gain from the start. It did not take much to match my previous sound. Movies and music sound very good. Design : The cabinet that this sub has is well developed. I feel this feature contributes to a good sound level even at a lower gain. This product has rubber feet which provide great stability for the unit. Overall: I am extremely happy with this unit. I feel anyone purchasing this sub would be happy with it. It takes very little to get it going and fill the room with a wonderful sound. I will also say, please make sure to secure valuables that may fall off walls or mantels if you plan on using more gain. It will bring a thundering boom to the home.
Pros: This unit is thunderous, has great clarity and depth. Rubber feet provide great stability.
Cons: This unit is quite large so please consider the placement area.

Construction is of very good quality, sound reproduction is great, and is a great value for the money! Would strongly recommend to any wanting to improve low frequency performance of a system!
Pros: -Strong bass response -Improves low-to-mid range gaps -Very good construction -Great value
Cons: -Requires some break-in (acceptable) -A little larger than I had expected (acceptable)

Joshua from Charlotte, NC on 2/13/2023
Early into my experience with the R-120SW, but so far it's been a welcome addition to the powered Klipsch speakers. Bass is strong and deep and the tuning is flexible enough to let me tune it in just right for my space. This speaker is a lot bigger than I expected, but the cabinet is well made so it's not an eyesore. It's powerful enough that during my first test listen, my son texted me from his upstairs room to ask why his floor was shaking. Sounds great both with digital and vinyl - I'm really happy with this purchase!

There are plenty of videos on YouTube to walk you through the process as well as support from Crutchfield is just a phone call away. You will probably only need one, but I bought two for future expansion.
Pros: They look and sound great. You will probably never use their full potential.
Cons: They would be overkill for a small room.

Great budget option
Don from Sioux Falls, SD on 1/8/2023
All in one for $300... I purchased 2 in 2020. I have pushed them quite a bit. Usually movies but sometimes I will go music mode and shake the house. One of them has a bad seal or something. At a certain frequency it sounds like air is getting by a seal or idk. I repositioned the subs and haven't heard it since then. 18x26 area that is open to a wide hallway behind it. If you have issues with bass from these, then you've got them in the wrong spot for the room. The gain on back is set at 1/4 and I have to set sub output to -12 when wife is trying to watch tv upstairs and -4 when i want to hear it all. I have done gain at 3/4 and sub output at +6 for a party night with the kids. I ended up rattling the ceiling light cans out of their mounts. Had 3 hanging by the wires. Room placement is vital for these little guys. Before moving them, I was getting vibrations in couch, but sound was lacking. Placed the subs on my couch and crawled around. Almost couldn't tell the subs were on in one spot that I had a sub. The cabinets were shaking in the bar area and overhead ceiling lights were rattling, but I heard no bass. Found the sweet spot 2 feet left of the left sub. Stacked them both in that position and it's like I added more subs to the mix. Yes, there is better, bigger... but for the price and ease of use, these get the jobs done. For this price I would consider getting 2 more.
Pros: Cheap
Cons: Underpowered as 1, sounds great with 2.

Subwoofer Upgrade
Kelly from Grand Rapids, MI on 1/5/2023
This is the first piece I bought to upgrade my surround system. From the first note it was obvious how much more powerful and clear this is than my old subwoofer. Enough so that I had to make adjustments so it didn't overwhelm my other speakers. The set up was quick, the adjustments easy. I did notice at a higher power I could hear which direction the sound came from instead of it permeating the room.

Klipsch #2
Mark A. from Colorado Springs, CO on 12/23/2022
This is my second Klipsch subwoofer. I recently bought a R-121SW. This one is a little smaller, but seems to pack the same punch. Placement seems to be the determining factor. I mentioned in my post for the R-121 SW that I was replacing my JBL SUB 550Ps. There is definitely a difference in the subs the Klipsch are 12" ported, and the JBLs are 10" sealed with higher output. The bass can be overpowering from the Klipsch so the frequency and gain knobs will definitely take some setting to get right. I used the YPAO mic for my Yamaha receiver and the bass still seems to overpower the rest. It sounds great, don't get me wrong. I feel like the JBL Sub 550Ps might be more accurate. Hope this helps.
Pros: -Serious bass -size of the speaker is just right
Cons: Bass can be overpowering.

Wished we added this sooner
Michele from N Muskegon, MI on 12/23/2022
We have had Klipsch all around in our home theater for years, in fact our main's are legacy Klipsch Forte' II 's which had been handling the bass . However we noticed our Denon AVR-S950H running very hot and we were impressed by the Klipsch 10" subwoofer we recently purchased for our stereo room so we took a chance on adding R-120 SW to our home theater. WOW are we impressed on what it added to bass response and our receiver does not get as hot. Wished we would have added a subwoofer sooner to our home theater. We highly recommend this subwoofer.
Pros: Easy hookup. Solidly built. Great low bass.

Jerry from Fresno, TX on 12/5/2022
Finally Complete. I purchased the Cambridge CXA81 and Bower Wilkens 606 bookshelf speakers and from all I read I should have been satisfied however, I was left wanting something more. I am a Jazz man but I was missing something and I found it in the R-120sw. It brings the bass and sets the tone for the other speakers to produce clear notes. Now it is way more than I needed but boy does it do the job.
Pros: Truly great sound
Cons: Very very big

Clean, Rich, Deep, Detailed
Rick from DALTON, MA on 11/20/2022
I have an older (early 2000s) Klipsch Sub 10 that seemed to be failing. I have since resurrected it though. But, decided to upgrade anyway. Crutchfield rep Seth confirmed that the R-120SW would work and offer better reproduction as it has a 12 inch driver and more power. On top of that, it would not break the bank! Yep! This sub delivers. It has a deep low end, very rich and defined. It is not boomy. Coupled with the rest of the audio, one becomes immersed. It does not take long to dial it in and then it becomes invisible. That is what a sub woofer should do and this Klipsch does this nicely. Coupled to an Onkyo RZ50, this combination is exceptional. Cosmetically, this sub looks like wood. It even feels like wood. It blends in with the rest of the system. There is a soft glowing green LED in the upper left that lights when powered up. It is barely visible with the grill cover on which is perfect. My experience with Klipsch has been very positive. I didn't look at other manufacturers when choosing a replacement. The previous sub I had was rich and defined and it used a smaller driver. So, I already knew that this one would be as good, if not better. Get this sub. You won't be disappointed.
Pros: Small footprint Rich, deep, defined bass response Looks like furniture Front firing driver, with rear port Excellent price point
Cons: None!

Nice but Large Speaker
Roland from Elizabethton, TN on 10/1/2022
This speaker is the subwoofer for an Onkyo driven Home Theater Surround Sound System. It is large and takes up a lot of space so make sure you have the room for it. But it delivers deep, clear sound with no noticeable distortion at volumes all along the reasonable listening scale. It comes with an optional magnetically mounted fabric screen to cover the entire face of the speaker making the entire unit black when in place. It was priced well and performs flawlessly.

This subwoofer is just amazing. I use this subwoofer in a small 11x8 office, and for this application this speaker is absolute overkill, but boy is it fun. This thing is huge and barely fits under my desk, but the size shows its value in its performance. I use it mainly for music and I just absolutely love the amount of bass it is capable of. I also like the controls to adjust the levels of bass for when you don't want to have the windows raddle. Have nothing negative to say about this subwoofer and would definitely recommend it to anyone who is looking for something in this price range.

I've never had a subwoofer before this one. I always thought my old Infinity RS6000s handles base pretty well, and they do, but when I got a new pre-amp that had a sub output, I became curious, and then I caught this model on sale. Getting it set up and tuned to my system and environment was a snap, and I've been blown away by the additional dimension this sub adds to the music. I have the filter set at about 75Hz, and that provides just the right base complement for the Infinity's low end. I like the auto on/off mode. This is a great subwoofer.

So far so good. These subwoofers are very efficient so be sure to set your speaker to match the balance setting on your surround amp or receiver. You may find you have to reduce the subwoofer volume first before you balance the system using a speaker auto-calibration.

Big boy
Nick from Tulsa, OK on 1/7/2021
The average rating for this is 5 so that ought to tell you something. I have a small living room so I was pretty worried about how big it was (I like bass so not THAT worried.) When I got it set up it didn't sound like I expected. I went on for a couple days playing music and such never sounding perfect it finally happened. After the break in period this thing bangs. If you're reading this wondering if if you need this...just pull the trigger. This sub rocks. I have a crawl space house and when I crank it I can feel my floor vibrate.

Nice for the price
Crutchfield customer from New Smyrna, FL on 1/4/2021
The only reason for the four star is because right out of the box, one of the subs had a bad amp. I bought two of these, one was perfect and the other had that issue. Now don't get me wrong, I contacted Crutchfield and they sent a new amp under warranty, easy plug and play swap, sent the old one in and no charges on my end. The subs hit very well, especially within their price point. For their price, I think the subs are awesome. In the future I will be upgrading to the premier subs as the quality is much better, obviously with a much higher price tag. But for now, these are great.
Pros: Nice for my configuration Hit well, pretty solid
Cons: Just that amp, but corrected by Crutchfield

MORE Than Enough!
Bob from Sarasota, FL on 12/18/2020
Once hooked up, broken in, and adjusted, my oh my! This sub goes deep and will shake the window panes and the very house itself if you let it. I have the phase at 0, the crossover at about 50, and the gain at less than half. There's plenty left. If you need big sound bass, I can highly recommend the R-120SW.

Nice sub at the right price. Replaces an old Infinity sub that the amp failed after 12 years. Bass is tight and well defined. Played different types of music and some action movies to fine tune to my preferences. Happy with the sub and as always Crutchfield is a pleasure to do business with.
Pros: Getting it from Crutchfield! Others had it for a little less but, Critchfield's lifetime support makes all the difference. GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE!!

Love this sub-woofer. Very responsive and sounds terrific! Would buy again.
Pros: Love it. Nothing bad to say about it.
Cons: I was led to believe that this was a 50% off product. After I purchased I found it at several other places for less cost that Crutchfield. Please don't say that something is 50% off, when it is everyone else's regular price. I went ahead and bought from you anyway due to the recommendation time spent with the salesman, who was very good.

Unbelievable sound
Crutchfield customer from Arlington, VA on 12/10/2020
I already had the 15" big brother of this sub when I bought this. So I knew the sound quality would be fantastic (and that it was massive overkill for where I was putting it; but it was such a good sale at the time that it was only a few dollars more than the sub I'd seen suggested for what I needed). Anyway, it has considerably exceeded my expectations for sound. My only problem is how physically big it is, but that was my own stupidity, as I knew the space where I wanted it wasn't huge. So I have no reservations about recommending it.

Lots of boom for the buck
Crutchfield customer from Wayne, NJ on 12/6/2020
I bought this as a "scratch and dent" , but this is in perfect shape. I love klipsch speakers, and this sub is no exception. Very easy to hook up to my sonos amp that was also purchased from Crutchfield. I added this to give my B&W speakers a little boost; and oh my , does it ever. I have the gain set very low so as not to interfere with the music as you don't want the bass to overpower your listening experience. This klipsch sounds terrific , adding the extra punch to your music. And with 2 day shipping, I couldn't be happier. By the way , Crutchfield was voted the # one retailer on consumers reports ( I do not work for crutchfield ) just a happy customer.
Pros: Klipsch quality and sound
Cons: None that come to mind

Phenomenal!!!
Crutchfield customer from Flower Mound, TX on 12/2/2020
This powered sub by Klipsch is just what my 5.1 system was missing. I have a medium sized living room set up, and this sub is most definitely more than enough. It is hooked up through an Onkyo TX-NR686, paired up with Polk TAi400 front mains, a Polk CS10 center channel and Polk Atrium 5 surrounds. The Kilpsch sub will overpower the rest unless turned down. Be certain to secure any small items or picture frames that may rattle in use, or things may start jumping off of shelves. I highly recommend this sub. It makes movies come to life. Lightning on screen and explosions in a movie really come to life. Pop in your favorite movie and sit back with some popcorn and a few of your friends. No reason to ever leave the house to brave the theater again. Stream a flick and kick back in your comfy pjs!
Pros: Heavy bass you can feel in your soul. This thing seriously thumps, and you can dial in the settings to match your set up. Great addition to a surround set up and compliments your favorite music as well.
Cons: Might upset your wife if you crank it up too late! ??

Crutchfield customer from Harris, NY on 11/29/2020
Low notes are musical. Tried others and this Klipsch compares to subs costing hundreds more. A small green light on the front lets you know when it's active. No more searching in back to see if it's on! The light is small and is not intrusive, even in a dark home theatre.
Pros: front power light

Crutchfield staff was once again extremely knowledgeable, professional & friendly. I made the purchase with total confidence. The R-120SW arrived in 2 days, as promised, in perfect condition. The setup was simple...ran the RCA cable from my Klipsch Fives, adjusted the settings as suggested, made a couple adjustments after listening to a variety of music & a movie....simple! The sub-woofer made a significant difference listening to music & movies alike. My Fives are in bookcases & are placed a little higher than I would have liked, but, I didn't have any other option. The sub balances the sound, making it seems more natural & easily fills a fairly large space...open floorplan including living room, kitchen, dining room & foyer! This sub could easily handle a larger space! Completely satisfied!
Pros: Powerful, well built

Great addition to my home theater
Richard from KANNAPOLIS, NC on 11/28/2020
This was a great addition to really boost my home theater system to a level I was looking for. TV shows and music all sound great and very natural. Action movies will rock the house and I love it!! It took me a couple of months to get it tuned in where it wasn't over bearing as it has a lot of power. I still occasionally have to tune it down a little bit as some movie tracks are a little much but easy enough to do. I have a Yamaha RX-V673 receiver and Polk Audio speakers and this Subwoofer paired seamlessly with them.
Pros: Easy to hook Great low end

My personal perspective is that this speaker fulfills my needs. It is the heartbeat of my Heresy iii speakers. I'm not an audiophile but I do appreciate good sound and the sub works just fine when properly set up and compliments the Heresy speakers really well. I deliberated between sealed or ported and have no regrets about my decision. I like the sub very much. My musical tastes run from Weather Report to Lucinda Williams and the sub does not disappoint.

Outstanding bass and quality for price
Crutchfield customer from Glen Ellyn, IL on 11/24/2020
Great subwoofer and hard to beat for the price. Not necessarily high on features but if you are looking to pump up bass on movies and have the open space room to accommodate big bass this is an excellent choice. Klipsch rarely disappoints and this is a nice compliment to any mid level system. I would not recommend for music in a small space, but if you are accustomed to big booming bass delivered in todays headphones and car audio, you will like the added depth in your music. Controls allow you to dial up and down output to what sounds good for you, but without automatic calibration in your system, it will take some playing with. Not a bad thing if you like to tweak your sound. Exceeded my expectation.

The cabinet is beefy and it looks great paired with the rest of my RP series speakers. Gain seems pretty linear, so it works well at the lower volumes that I use a lot, and when I push the volume it keeps a consistent clean sound that I find more than adequate for anything in this price range.

This Bass will blow the pictures off the wall if you need the volume. Bass is a nice sound not to thump but a smooth bass sound. Good adjustments for matching other speakers in my system. Can be controlled by my Receiver Sony 1080. In movies it adds that low rumble missing from tower speakers. Has rubber legs to keep off floor. Ported so can place in different locations in room to get best sound.
Pros: High volume output but great sound at low levels. Can control with Receiver. Clean bass sound. Light on face to show its on. Has Auto setting.
Cons: Powerful so best in large room may only needed 10" in my set up

Not for music
Yoram from Greenville, MI on 7/20/2020
We bought this in an attempt to "complete" our stereo system which consists of 2 pairs of Paradigm Atom bookshelf speakers and a Yamaha RS700 receiver, used primarily for streaming contemporary Jazz, rock, soul and classical from Pandora and Spotify Premium. This setup sounds quite nice but needed help in the lower ranges to balance the sound quality. This subwoofer did a very poor job and is being sent back. The bass can be powerful and reach very low frequencies but is muddy, distorted and not tight, more reminiscent of what you hear when a thumping car or truck pulls up alongside you at the lights and vibrates your windows and seat. Spent several hours trying to systematically tune it to our room, system and music -- adjusting gain, crossover frequency and phase, varying the location and orientation in the room, and going through a wide selection of our bass "yardstick" tracks. Nothing worked -- this sub is not suitable for quality music reproduction. There was absolutely no way to get it to blend seamlessly with the rest of the system to achieve the natural sound of very good full range speakers. It may be fine for dramatic sound effects in a home theater system but that is not what we need. However, the good folks at Crutchfield helped us replace it with an SVS PB-1000 which was an absolute revelation and transformation -- incredible sound quality and natural blending with our system at the same list price.
Pros:
Cons: High distortion, not tight, poor music fidelity. Not able to use in non-powered mode (which could be a potential improvement since I suspect the amp is the culprit more than the speaker).

WOW, Just finished purchasing new theater speaker package and planned to use 20 year old Sub "thinking" it was still adequate. Great subwoofer. I put this in our just finished basement and paired it with a bunch of Polk in-wall and in-ceiling speakers and I'm loving it. This fills the room with bass, looks sharp and hits hard. The first time one of the kids was playing an FPS game I couldn't believe how solid and sharp it made the shots sound. Movies and music sound great as well and the amount of bass is awesome. The controls are good, nice flexibility.
Pros: Great sound, tight bass, nice looks.
Cons: None so far.

Klipsch R-120
Patrick from HERTFORD, NC on 4/23/2020
Bought this sub with the Klipsch 8" tower speakers, center channel, and rear surround sound speakers with an Onkyo receiver. At first i was a little disappointed with the quality and volume of the sub. I moved my system from that large room to a smaller room and purchased a second sub in the process. THAT was a "mistake". I discovered that during my initial setup with my receiver I had it on an incorrect setting resulting in poor sound quality in the sub. MAN,when I reinstalled everything and got it right, the sound quality is a night and difference. Then with the second sub its actually ridiculous and I've been into audio systems since I was 14 (I'm 46 now). I have to leave both subs volumes on 2 (out of 10). Sometimes I'll turn it up a little but I'll always end up turning it back down. It's just too much for everyday listening. Certain blue-ray movies I may bump it up like, for example, the last Godzilla movie. It just sounded incredible. So, if you're in the market for a sub, this is the ONE to get (because you probably don't need two).
Pros: Deep Bass Loud
Cons: None

Good sub
Jonathan from Martinsville on 4/23/2020
Love the sub, I wanted some low end and this does the trick! I don't have the greatest acoustic room but it still adds that much wanted bass and it's accurate not muddy or sloppy . For the price I don't think you can go wrong! The sub is pretty big, and it seems very solid. I am a fan of klipsch, I have this and the speakers on an Onkyo 747 think it's discontinued. Crutchfield is awesome, were willing to help and the shipping was here in about 2 days. They answered all my questions and were very nice. Thanks Crutchfield!!
Pros: Good bass, looks good, sounds good.

I've only had this installed a week but so far I love it. Currently I have definitive technology 9020 towers with center and tops for atmos. Powered by a denon receiver. Install was simple and it shook the house from the first thing I played. Now I'm working on adjusting the levels to be just right. Would recommend to anybody looking to improve their home theater system without breaking the bank.

Full disclosre, I am a Klipsch fan and the powered 12 inch subwoofer complimented my system greatly. Easy to hookup in 3 minutes and my house was thumping! I recommend spending the extra to get the no frills powered amp
Pros: Adjustable gain button on back for easy adjusting to your existing speakers
Cons: Instructions could have been written a bit simpler for dummies on adjusting gain and phase.

Nice little sub
Crutchfield customer from Fallbrook, CA on 2/11/2020
Great amp for the money. Simple to set-up and use. I bought mine to replace a 12" Velodyne Sub that decided to quit after about 18 years. Plenty of bottom end for the entire garage (about 600 sq ft) to compliment four Def Tech in-walls. Not too big, not too heavy. The cabinet finish isn't quite as stellar as my SVS subs in the house but it's not bad for what it is (basically a matte wood grain). Overall I'm very happy with the sub and recommend it to those looking for a good 12" sub with plenty of power that doesn't break the bank.
Pros: Not too big, not too heavy, plenty of power, easy set-up, not overly expensive
Cons: A trigger input (in addition to the existing auto-on) would be a nice feature

Very satisfied.
Crutchfield customer from Oakland, MD on 1/26/2020
I bought this to replace a failed polk pro down facing powered. I had two Klipsch Heresy speakers so I thought I stay in the quality that I've come expect from them. I've only had them set up for about two weeks. The quality of the cabinet is solid. I'm happy with the purchase. Obviously the powered SW adds a lot. I still have very enjoyable music without it. However, when you start getting into "bass-heavy" music or any movies with a lot of bass register, that is when you really appreciate it. My go-to test movie is Master and Commander. When the broadsides are fired and you develop shell-shock, then you know the SW is adding a lot.

Crutchfield customer from Nixa, MO on 1/8/2020
Paired perfectly with my Polk TSi300 fronts and Polk CSi A4 center speakers. I was nervous how it would color the low end rolloff with the Polk Audio components. No worries here at all anymore. Its transparent when it needs to and front and center when it's supposed to. Couldnt be more happier with the purchase. Located in a corner firing left to right.
Pros: Love the auto power feature. Also love that there is only a volume and low pass control. 2 controls - that it!

I've had this for about 6 months and have it paired with Klipsch RP8000F, 404c center and 4 BA In wall surround Speakers. 800 square foot room with 20 ft vaulted ceilings and it sounds great! We have a lot of parties with dance music up loud and everyone comments on it. We also have a sound town karaoke system connected and love the way that sounds too. I used the audessy set up on my Denon avr2400H which sounded great for movies, but was not enough base for music. I recommend using the manual settings on your receiver and on the sub to get it just right. Very happy with my Klipsch purchases (especially if you pick them up on the periodic specials they run. Can't beat Crutchfield for service and support as well. I love that I can call and just ask for advice from knowledgeable friendly people without being pressured to purchase something.

Klipsch Varieties of Wireless of Connections
Crutchfield customer from Evans, GA on 12/16/2019
Probably a good product since I already have 2 other Klipsch subs. I have a 112 and a 10. All of them have different capabilities to connect to the amp wirelessly. One has $130 add on box, one came with a box and built in on the sub, and the last I just got has nothing. I didn't see this in the advertising. Good thing Christmas allows lower prices to clean old tech out of the warehouse.
Pros: Good sound, I hope when it is connected.
Cons: I should have called and asked questions rather than just ordering online.

Lots of bass
Crutchfield customer from Phoenix, AZ on 12/15/2019
I have to preface this review that I have only had Velodyne subs in the past. With that said this sub is for a workout room. It has plenty of low end bass but seems to have mostly a one note sound. It also is quite huge when compared to my Velodyne. Again it got a lot of low end bass.
Pros: Great value, almost all of the option of high end subs.
Cons: Size & no remote.

Ron from Fresno CA on 11/24/2019
This is a great value for $250. The cabinet faux vinyl finish isn't the best, but is good enough to look nice from 5ft away. It has surprisingly good bass output sound once you find your best position for it in you room and run your room correction DSP in your home theater receiver. The weight of the subwoofer makes it fairly easy to move around. That's a plus since I purchased this for a friend with knee problems, and it fit into her budget well.
Pros: Price (on sale), good output and decent bass extension, and it's light weight for a 12" subwoofer.
Cons: The vinyl finish could be better, but it's acceptable. No wireless transmitter hook up.

This is my second Klipsch R-120SW!!
Crutchfield customer from N Chesterfld, VA on 11/20/2019
This is actually my second Klipsch R-120SW in my home theater system. I bought one earlier this year when they were on sale. I was blown away with how much solid, low end that it added to my system. I'm a typical guy who loves action flicks and I love to hear that thunderous low rumble that comes with those kinds of soundtracks. When I hooked the first one up to my nearly new AV receiver, I couldn't help but notice that I had two subwoofer outputs. As the months went by, that second unused subwoofer output kept beckoning to me and whispering in my ear "it would sound twice as good with a second subwoofer in the system". So, earlier this month, they put the R-120SW on sale again........so, I snatched up another one. With two of these incredible subwoofers in my home theater system, the sound is truly magnificent.......at least to me. All of my speakers are Klipsch and I am always impressed with the quality of their speakers. These things are tight and low. You can feel it right in your chest. I'm very happy with my purchase.

There's a reason the amp only has a two year warranty
Bob from Los Angeles on 9/1/2019
These subs are priced decently and sound very good. But the amps dependably fail. Dependably. Look at the warranty - five years on the driver but only two years on the amp. If you're happy with buying a sub that lasts two years, Klipsch is the manufacturer for you. Note that a lot of the five star reviews here are from satisfied customers but who have owned the sub for a relatively short time. After several failures, I've learned my lesson.
Pros: Works well, sounds great as long as the amp doesn't fail
Cons: The amp fails. All Klipsch subwoofer amps fail, usually shortly after the warranty is over. Search the Internet, find thousands of examples of this.

More boom for the buck
Crutchfield customer from Normandy Park, WA on 5/9/2019
When I assembled my system, I kind of overkilled it for the room size, so I dialed it back a notch on everything except the subwoofers. I'd read that this was the one to get, and for only $10 more, it was a no-brainer. Plenty of power for a midsize room. Superb quality at the perfect price point. I should have done this many years ago.

Extremely powerful sub
Crutchfield customer from San Antonio, TX on 4/8/2019
Extremely powerful sub. Has a good punch and not muddy sound like my Polk PSW110. My room is 20 feet x 30 feet upstairs. You feel the floor vibrate at about 1/3rd power. I think I over did it with this piece of equipment. Should I return it for their smaller 10" wireless sub? ...nah.
Pros: Plenty of reserve power, attractive without grill on, good solid punch on bass notes, if you want to rattle the walls of your room this is your sub
Cons: Could be too strong for your needs...on some music I have to turn down gain to below 1/8th so not to drown out the music.

Too boomy for music, but serviceable for movies.
Crutchfield customer from Charleston, WV on 3/2/2019
If you're looking for tight, punchy bass for your music then you might want to look elsewhere. Explosions and other low frequency effects are powerful and boomy, though. But since I primarily listen to music, the overly buzzy sound detracts from the listening experience. The bass is not as tight or clean as even the entry level JL Audio 10" sub in my truck. One additional thing that I will add is that I bought it when it was nearly 50% off. I don't think that I would have been happy to pay full retail.

Matthew from Canton, ME on 2/15/2019
I've had this sub installed for two months now and know I've got my money's worth. Im setup with a Denon X2400H, Klipsch G_28 speakers mains and Klipsch CDT-2650 surrounds. I bought the R-120sw on special to stay in budget and it will rattle your core. It creates a massive rumble and presence to fill the low end in any movie. Push it loud and it can vibrate anything off a shelf. It's not without flaws. Real punchy bass sequences in music can leave you wanting. This sub has a noticeable dropoff in volume on ultra low frequencies too. For the money though, I can't complain. I think I would have to spend 3-4X more on a sub to fill in what I'm missing in tightness and lowest end.
Pros: Huge value and volume
Cons: Could hit harder and cleaner with music.

I bought this to compliment by new Klipsch RP-600M bookshelf speakers because I felt that they lacked the proper amount of bass to provide a balance sound in my room of choice. Pros: Price Setup
Cons: Lacks punchy responsiveness.

Crutchfield customer from Rigby, ID on 2/2/2019
I have been a long time Klipsch follower and needed an upgrade from my Def-Tech sub (13 years old). I thought I would give this sub a try based on customer reviews and price. I have this in a home theatre setting paired with ELAC Debut 2.0 6.2 front speakers, Klipsch RC-42 surround speakers and RC-25 center speaker. The reviews were right on target. This thing is amazing with deep lows (not to muddy) and lots of punch for those action packed movies. Also, it pairs well with the ELAC's in a 2.1 setting listening to about any music type. I was happy I went to crutchfield for my purchase, it was nice talking to a real person who understands the hi-fi business. They answered all of my questions and made the purchase seamless. Don't hesitate to purchase this sub, you will not be disappointed.

A little bigger than I imagined it would be, and WOW the sound is impressive. Holy cow. Great subwoofer, and purchased for a good price at Crutchfield.
Pros: Has the potential to shake the neighbor's house
Cons: The actual size of the subwoofer is little big for my living room. Worth it, though.

Great clean bass
Crutchfield customer from Faribault, MN on 1/27/2019
I bought this subwoofer for my main system as a second 12 inch subwoofer I have had another make that was doing a good job. However, this Klipsch is much cleaner, and really can deliver the bass! I can crank it up a bit and it vibrates my recliner, and the floor! This is my second Klipsch subwoofer, I have a 10 inch along with a pair of 160m bookshelf speakers in the bedroom. Of course Crutchfield gave me 2 day shipping and I have bought several items from them, with very good service. Highly recommended!
Pros: powerful and clean sound
Cons: none so far

Far exceede my expectations!
Russell from Cleveland, OH on 1/19/2019
You know, I've been waiting to get a Klipsch subwoofer to complete my Klipsch system. My biggest fear was getting a 12 inch that wouldn't overpower everything. So often, these larger woofers have rumble, but not that well defined bass I've been looking for. When I hooked up this woofer, was I in for a pleasant surprise! It is everything I've been looking for and more! Well defined bass, without distortion, with enough [power to bring down the house if you want. You can tailor the volume to suit your musical tastes be it rock, jazz or symphony. Your music will take on a whole new sound when you add this sub. I love the adjustability of the cutoff frequencies. Found 80hrz to be my sweet spot! But where it really shines are the movies. I didn't know what I was missing with my older off brand sub. The bass goes right through you at any listening level! It's what I've been looking for. No slop whatsoever! Just clean, punctuating Bass. Thanks to my advisor Peyton for all his help. GET THIS BASS! You won't be sorry.
Pros: Well defined, solid bass sound! Durable, and well constructed.
Cons: A bit Heavy

denes from Germantown, NY on 1/16/2019
Awesome series Klipsch made. I was leary of buying speakers from these guys. I thought this was their cheap money makers to fill the bank up while they focus more fancier speakers. I was wrong. I got this sub, with a pair of R820F, and R51M desktops. I play classic rock/ 80's metal and this makes the low bass guitar and drums come up with the vocals. I used to not like heavy subwoofer before I got this one! She doesn't like to idle though at moderate levels. I have to go and adjust the levels from time to time. Wish my amplifier had tunable subwoofer outs, so I ould do it from a remote. Love the adjustable cutoff feature. I keep it about 1/3 from all the way counter clockwise.
Pros: Great sound without the sloppy thud.....
Cons: Big motors want to run hard.....

Full Sound everywhere
George Avery from Edmond, OK on 1/7/2019
I have a 60x60 building to house my motor coach and hobby shop. I am finishing the interior myself so having a sound system now is nice. Eight JBC Control 65 speakers hang from the ceiling. I added two Klipsch R-120W subwoofers; one on the north wall and one on the east wall. No matter where you walk in the building you can't tell where the sound and bass is coming from. I don't need a lot of volume to get a full sound. Outstanding!
Pros: Look and sound great. Takes a little time to make the final adjustments but for my situation the bass is perfect.
Cons: None

After 20 years of listening to Infinity Kappa 8's I have spent the last year replacing everything. New Bryston A2 speakers, Emotive XPA Gen 3 amp, NAD 165bee pre-amp, NAD 546bee CD player, and my trusty Thorens TD160 turntable. The sound is fantastic but none of that body slamming base. This 12" beast came today, 15 minute hook up with dialing it in. Room acoustics is a major issue but I was lucky. Already had my spot for the sub picked out and no problem. This is my basement, carpeted concrete and plenty of stuff on the walls to make it work. Used the sub woofer out on the pre amp. Easy to set up perfectly. Room is 24 x 24, speakers 10' apart, couch 10' back.
Pros: Everything
Cons: None

I upgraded an old Kenwood 8" sub to this unit, to pair with my Onkyo RZ-620 receiver. I originally considered the Klipsch R-10SW, but this 12" sub was on sale for a song so I figured, what the heck - I'll spend the extra $70 and get another 2 inches. This unit is incredibly powerful for my 15 x 18 foot family room (which opens up to the kitchen, so effectively double that square footage). In fact, it is so powerful that I've had to set it down to slightly less than half volume. The bass is full and much deeper than the 8" Kenwood was capable of achieving. Highly recommended! I've set the older Kenwood sub in another corner of the room and I'm approaching that true cinema experience.

Pleasing room filling base
Jeff from Dubois, WY on 12/26/2018
I can not believe what a difference this Klipsch R-210SW did for my sound system. A night and day differnce from my Polk PSW-111 which actually came free with my polk system. This added room filling clean base and depth to both music and movies. My partner hates the base on the old Polk that thumped like a boom box. This speaker is added value to an already great system. This was the missing link to my system! I may be a Klipsch fan after this one.
Pros: Rich in sound quality Easy set up

I've only had mine for a couple of weeks. Still in the break in period. But this thing rattles my whole house. Had to dial it back a little. I have it paired up with a Bit America F-12 & Pioneer, Boston acoustics & Klipsch speakers. What a difference this thing makes. The only drawback is that port hole noise.
Pros: Fits in my living room perfectly, lots of bass, easy set up.
Cons: Porthole noise.

15" sound from a 12" unit
Clifford from Wichita, KS on 12/2/2018
This subwoofer replaced a JBL PSW-D115 15" unit I have had since the mid 1990's that is 20H x 20W x 23D and weighs about 45 pounds. Needless to say smaller lighter with modern technology wins every time. The Klipsch R-120SW fits in admirably with excellent room filling sound. Add to that Crutchfield's free shipping and pricing that matches or beats anyone's and their technical support and you just can't go wrong. Existing customers already know all this but you new customers should take note. The blue and yellow tag guys don't even come close.
Pros: Great sound reasonable size and weight
Cons: Can't think of any since I got it on sale at half price.

Wow this thing booms and shakes my laminate floors! I have this bad boy hooked up with an Onkyo RZ820 and Polk RTI A9's and am loving the thump. I am still in the process of moving it around and adjusting the LFP on LFE to optimize for my L shaped room. The woofer is bigger, but that's on me and not Klipsch. Major improvement over previous subwoofer
Jeff from Bowling Green, KY on 11/29/2018
I had been thinking about replacing my 2.1 channel garage / man cave stereo system Polk Audio powered subwoofer. Having always been a big fan of Klipsch speakers I chose this one and my expectations have been exceeded. Wow! This speaker is so very powerful. We're still experimenting with settings however this has been a major improvement for the often utilized stereo system. Also, pretty amazing to receive a heavy carton (sub was well protected) like this in two days. For bass lovers, you can get all the bass you want out of this model. Highly recommend.
Pros: Beautiful cabinet, superb construction and very powerful and clear bass output.
