Just got this sound ordnance box and paired it with an audiofrog 8" sub and 300 watt pioneer amp. Pretty impressive sounds from such a small setup. Of course, I'm comparing this to the pitiful Honda OEM sub. This little box provides just what was needed on the low end and does not take up a Just what was needed on the low end and does not take up a lot of space in the hatchback area. Very happy and music sounds great, no matter what the genre.
Pros: Great sound at a minimal price and compact size is a plus also.

Solid little box works great with Kicker 8" sub
Paul from Holly Springs, NC on 9/9/2021
2020 Toyota Corolla
Bought a Kicker 44CWCS84 8" sub and originally mounted it in the back dash as it was supposedly capable of that placement. Tons of rattles, distortion and weak low end. Put the same sub and amp together using this box and it sounds GREAT. I bought the remote bass level control for my amp (JL Audio JD250/1) and that's good because I need to turn it down for some songs, as it hits hard. Nice tight bass with no distortion even on rap and bass-heavy music. Crutchfield tech folks were helpful throughout the process. Advised adding about half a pound of fiberfill to box. Another tip from Crutchfield video - experiment with placement to see how it sounds. Putting this box with its back to my rear seats, facing out of the trunk opening made for MUCH better bass. Apparently every car is a bit different, so experiment. Thanks, Crutchfield!
Pros: Not pricey. Sturdy. Speaker terminals come prewired. Doesn't take up much space in trunk.
Cons: None - great box.

Box is well built for its price, nice and sturdy with an excellent sound reproduction. I installed an old Infinity Reference REF860w woofer and sounds amazing. Definitely worth the price. The only thing I dont like is the white S/O stitching; wish this was not done from the company. Other than this, no complaints
Pros: Small/Compact Nice sound Nicely Built
Cons: White S/O stitching, makes the box look ugly.

Bought this box after trying to stuff my new Kicker Comp8 in the factory sub enclosure on my 2011 Juke and realized the reason why the factory RF sub was a shallow mount. Not near enough room for the new sub. In this box, that little 8 really comes alive. Great enclosure

replaced factory DVC 8" sub with the Pioneer TS-SW2002D2 (much better), had factory sub left over, so ordered this box to complement existing office stereo speakers. haven't turned it up too loud yet but the 4" bookshelf speakers sound much better with the low end. doesn't sound anything like the 12" rockford fosgate in my old truck, but certainly better than nothing. box is well made, had to drill holes through the fabric which took some effort, long leads on inside to decent quality spring/banana connectors on back. smaller than i thought at first but that's a plus, fits on bottom of a built in bookshelf almost unseen.
Pros: construction, small size
Cons: fabric tough to drill mounting holes through

These will have to do until I can afford to run a Zero Guage Wire with an Inline Fuse from the Battery to the Distribution Block in the trunk. Feeding 3 amps (1500 RMS). Big 3 completed. Yellow Top battery added. 90a Alternator replaced with a 170a. Lights still dim a bit but subs are no longer starved for power and clipping. New issue is blowing fuses on the inline 4 guage currently ran from battery to trunk, when i turn it up max. 17 ft of Zero guage should resolve that issue. Waiting to afford the money for it (pre crimped).

For a little box this thing pounds hard. Put a sundown sa8 V3 D2 in it. The Box and the woofer cost me much less compared to the of the kicker l7qb8. I spent more money on a kicker 43CXA6001 mono amp and I would put my box up again it the L7QB8 any day. The only thing was I modified the box to fit the sundown 8 inch because it is a little wider than the precut opening, along with the 2 support brace in the box. I then sprayed some bed liner or rubberized coating to make the wood harder and use my heat gun to dry it out and it will smoke while the cure or just let sit for 8 hours. Afterwards drop that 8 inch in and you will be blown away. All for the price of the L7QB8.
Pros: Awesome little box
Cons: You will have to modify it if you want to use the sundown audio SA8 V3 D2.

Compact, well constructed 8" sub enclosure with audible, useable output (down to ~45 Hz) when paired with a high quality Focal Performance Sub P 20F 4 ohm subwoofer. Ended up with a larger 12" sub & enclosure to hear deeper bass with more "punch," but that's my choice & not the SO enclosure's fault. The small internal volume & laws of physics are the limiting factor here.

Perfect foundation for sub performance
Mike from Cincinnati, OH on 7/7/2016
Last year I upgraded my daughter's stereo in her Jeep with a Pioneer head unit and 4 new Kenwood 6.5" two-way speakers, which I purchased here @ Crutchfield. She loved the new set-up with hands free phone and bluetooth for music streaming. However the new set-up was not much better in audio fidelity than the factory system. The mids and highs were improved but there was almost no bass. This year, I decided to add a little bass punch. She didn't want to rattle windows, so I put together what I think is a great budget bass build. I used the Sony GS 8" woofer, Sony 500W 2.1 Amp, and the Sound Ordinance 8" sealed enclosure. All bolted together, this is one compact package that looks awesome. The Sound Ordinance enclosure is excellent. It is so well-built, I was amazed for the price how nice it was. The only thing I don't like is the "S/O" logo on the front of it. Otherwise, you cannot beat this enclosure. Unless you are a carpentry expert, you can't build a box this nice for the money.
Pros: Excellent build quality, value for the money, sounds great loaded with a Sony GS 8" sub, Crutchfield service.

Unusual use for these
RichJ from Connecticut on 5/7/2015
Got my hand on my mothers 50 year old stereo console, cabinet in great shape but sound quality unbearable. Gutted the cabinet and installed some good vintage components. Installed a pair of ADSL780 book shelf speakers (from the 80s) in the cabinet. The dome midranges and tweeter did not need to be in an enclosure so they were just mounted on the speaker baffles, but needed enclosures for the woofers. These worked great, 8 inch woofers fit perfectly in them, they are small enough to fit and they are placed just behind the opening for the woofer in the cabinet. Although a little bass heavy the speakers sound great.
Pros: Good construction

Constructed Well!
Dee from Florida on 12/19/2014
Having constructed countless sub enclosures since the early 90's, I am quite impressed by this little one. Many may scoff at it's wall thickness (or lack thereof), however if you know about building boxes then you would know that it doesn't always take 3/4" material to build a sturdy box. The bracing helps a little with the sides & bottom (it isn't attached to the top for some reason), but the actual construction itself with the way the panels are fitted together adds enough sturdy bracing intrinsically. Recessed sides & small panels helps avoid panel flex! This also in turn lessens weight tremendously, and that is compared to another similar size DIY 8" enclosure stored in the closet. The 16 gauge wiring suits well with subs that will easily fit into the cabinet so I there's really no need to change it. For those who are worried about it, there is only around a 1.2 watt/.09 DB loss of power over 1.5ft of 16 gauge wire. That's 198.81 watts out of 200 still passing through. Clearly inaudible & insignificant! Carpet looks great & the binding post terminal gives a professional build look & quality to it! Only con that I can see to this box is perhaps the sub could have been placed on the slanted side to aid in stability from tip overs for wild drivers, but that's what securing to the floor is for. I would definitely buy this again!
Pros: Great build quality! Sturdy & lightweight. Enough wire length to attach the sub out of the box. Quality terminal & carpet... price is spot on!
Cons: Would have like to see the bracing stretch up to the top, but really isn't necessary. Enclosure might be more stable if sub was placed on the slanted side... still no big deal for normal driving.

Sound Ordnance Bass Bunker 8"
MikefromMass from MA on 9/2/2014
Nothing fancy but one look says quality. Unless you already have all the tools to make a box of your own, you'll never be able to buy all the supplies you'll need to build a box like this for the money. Custom builds are fun but sometimes it's just not worth it as is the case here for me. Running a JL8w3v3-4 off a 200w MTX amp with very good results. Box solid as a rock. Bracing is strong, seams are clean, carpet is perfect, hardware is quality. Pre-soldered wiring is a bit lame but I planned to solder on my own Monster Cable anyway (pre-installed came right off with soldering gun). I'm fussy and was still more than satisfied.
Pros: Fit and finish, price, time saved not building my own enclosure!
Cons: Pre-soldered wire is pretty wimpy

Solid construct - 5/8" MDF and good binders - why I bought it... Dropped a Kicker 10CVR82 8" 2x2ohm DVC in.
Pros: Kicker 10CVR82 hits hard in this sealed enclosure - after mods (see below). FREE S/H!!!
Cons: This IS a premium price for a small 8" enclosure. MODS: (1) Replaced the supplied 16GA internal wires with 12GA, (2) RTV (caulk) the binder cup to actually SEAL the enclosure, (3) added poly fill. For a $40 8" SUBWOOFER enclosure, move to the 12GA and the poly fill, it's what, a +$0.05 increase per piece???.

Exactly what I needed
Patrick from Nashville, Tennessee on 5/24/2011
I got this box to hold a JL 8w1v2-4 subwoofer. The box is .38 cuft and the sub called for .375 so it was a perfect match. The box was a whole lot smaller than I expected, and will take very little space up. It is VERY solid. You would have to take a large hammer to it to break it, and that would be after many many hits. The inside wire are thick (at least 18 gauge, looked to be 16 gauge) comign off the input terminals which are high quality. The opening was the perfect size, I pre-drilled the holes to mount the sub and used deck screws to hold it in place. It was extremely solid and very air tight. High quality product and would definitely recommend. Plus it looks good compared to other "flashy" sub boxes out there.
